dc.description.abstractPurging blocks are important components located in the bottom of Steel Ladles. Its main objective is to protect and connect the ladle and the plug, throughout inert gas, usually argon, is injected into the liquid metal bath. Such components generally suffer with constant chemical and physical solicitation, which requires properties as high resistance to corrosion and thermal shock to be able to operate as required. Due to these solicitations, it is important that, during the production of the purging blocks, defects are minimized, such as micro cracks, which reduce their useful life and even make their use unfeasible. During the manufacture of purging blocks at the Monolithic and Pre-Molded Factory (FMPM) of RHI Magnesita located in Contagem-MG, several specimens began to present cracks after the drying stage, being discarded for not attend the required quality standard. This study aims to understand the cause and effect of the appearance of these cracks, as well as changing the calcium aluminate-based binder and the additives used in the concret production for the purging blocks, to propose a solution to this problem, avoiding the waste of raw materials and optimizing the production process of these strategic components for the steel industry.eng

dc.description.resumoSedes de plugue sao importantes componentes localizados na soleira de Panelas de Ar;o. Tern coma principal objetivo proteger e conectar a panela com o plugue, par onde e injetado algum gas inerte, geralmente argonio, no banho de metal liquido. Tais componentes sofrem com constantes solicitar;oes quimicas e fisicas, sendo fundamental propriedades coma alta resistencia a corrosao e ao choque termico para que a per;a se mantenha integra e possa operar dentro do requisitado. Par estas solicitar;oes, e importante que durante a produr;ao das sedes sejam minimizados defeitos, coma micro trincamentos, que diminuem a vida util e ate inviabilizam a sua utilizar;ao. Durante a fabricar;ao das sedes de plugue na Fabrica de Monoliticos e Pre­ Moldados (FMPM) da RHI Magnesita localizada em Contagem - MG, diversos exemplares comer;aram a apresentar trincas ap6s a etapa de secagem, sendo descartadas par nao estarem no padrao de qualidade exigido. Este estudo visa entender a causa e o efeito do surgimento destas trincas, bem coma alterando o ligante a base aluminato de calcio e os aditivos usados na produr;ao do concreto das sedes, propor uma solur;ao para este problema, evitando o desperdicio de materias-primas e otimizando o processo de produr;ao destes componentes estrategicos para a siderurgia.por
