Resumen
Higher education is one of the engines of economic, cultural and scientific development accumulated by humanity. The configuration of the sector in the country has undergone changes during its history that culminated in the configuration of the sector today. The characterization of this sector in the country today is represented by a large concentration of enrollment numbers in profit-oriented economic groups, a reflection that can also be seen in the mergers and acquisitions carried out in the sector in recent years. This paper aims to analyze the mergers notified and judged by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade), in the period from 2012 to 2022, in the new antitrust law. During the period, the vast majority of mergers were approved. Only two mergers were approved under the Merger Control Agreement (ACC) and one was disapproved.
