Estratégias de gestão ambiental adotadas por empresas conectadas com as diretrizes Meio Ambiente, Social e Governança (ESG) e seus impactos no desenvolvimento socioeconômico sustentável.
Abstract
In the current context of growing concern about sustainability in industrial processes, environmental practices are gaining prominence in the market, as they can have both financial and social impacts. These actions go beyond mere acts of corporate ethics but also cater to the current interests of consumers who
seek companies that align with their ideals. Moreover, these sustainable practices are driven by incentives for investing in technologies and innovation, providing a competitive edge in processes and aligning with Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) principles, which are increasingly demanded by the market. In this context, the aim of this study was to analyze environmental management strategies adopted by companies, connected with ESG, and evaluate how the implementation of these guidelines brings positive effects in various layers within the corporate environment and sustainable development. For this purpose, case studies of two major companies in the current Brazilian scenario were conducted: Ambev Vidros, a verticalized industry of AB InBev that produces glass bottles from recycled shards, becoming one of the largest glass shard recyclers in Latin America, and Raízen, a pioneer in large-scale production of Second-Generation Ethanol (E2G), produced from sugarcane bagasse. As a result, it was shown how the application of sustainable practices can reduce operational costs in production chains and enhance the socio-environmental visibility of companies.
