Resumen
The rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) is a native tree from Amazon, region of Brazil. It is responsible for the production of raw materials known as latex and natural rubber, products of great economic importance worldwide. Brazil has great potential for market expansion and there is great possibility of implantation and genetic uniformity. Latex and rubber are very interesting materials because of their properties, abundance and price. Membrane studies have gained great importance in recent years due to their wide range of processes and applications and membranes based on natural rubber latex have been studied and used in several areas, such as polymer engineering, chemical engineering, immunology, microbiology, physical chemistry, cell biology, among others. This final course paper presents a review of the literature on natural rubber and its latex and the relationship between their properties and the application of membranes in different areas of knowledge.
