Produção acadêmica sobre casas abrigo: análise de teses e dissertações da BDTD/IBICT

Abstract

In recent years, there have been no significant reductions in violence against women, despite the existence of several legal and institutional mechanisms in Brazil aimed at their protection and assistance. Public policies, specific legislation and the construction of public facilities have been implemented with the aim of preventing and mitigating gender-based violence. Among these mechanisms, shelters, regulated by national laws and guidelines, are welcome spaces for women and their children who are at imminent risk of death. This study aims to analyze theses and dissertations available in the Database of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) for being a free database, linked to the Federal government, of the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT), to understand how scientific production has addressed the issue of shelters. To this end, a narrative literature review on shelters and violence against women was conducted. Data collection did not follow a pre-determined time frame, resulting in the selection of one thesis and 14 dissertations. The methodology employed included the application of bibliometric parameters and content analysis on the collected works. The results of the research indicate a greater concentration of works in the state of São Paulo, as well as a predominance of research conducted by wome. There was also a noted limited number of complete theses and dissertations on the subject; it was observed that the analyzed studies mainly focus on women and are based on current legislation related to the protection and assistance of victims of violence and the fragility of services, such as lack of funding and specialized technical staff.
