'A era da indiferença se foi para sempre': o marxismo nas trajetórias de Frantz Fanon e Edward Said

Abstract

While Marxism, globally, probably emerged as the primary mode of thinking and conducting politics on the left in the 20th century, anti-colonial struggles marked this same century with paradigmatic changes in the ways subjects were made and recognized, in economic geopolitics, and in new theoretical formulations from previously marginalized perspectives. Our research aims to take a few steps in understanding the interplay between these two fields, localized through the works of authors Frantz Fanon and Edward Said. We seek, in their political biographies and theoretical works, to understand how these authors, through their own agencies and political agendas, engaged with or utilized Marxism for their understanding of the world. Methodologically, we position ourselves within the Sociology of Intellectuals and propose to comprehend how the post-colonial intellectuals discussed here fit into the public debate within their own political constructions.
