O impacto do racismo nas atividades de estudantes universitários sob a perspectiva da Terapia Ocupacional: uma revisão de escopo

Abstract

This undergraduate thesis consists of a scoping review aimed at mapping and analyzing the existing scientific literature on the impacts of racism on university students' activities from the perspective of Occupational Therapy. The search was conducted in the SciELO, ERIC, CAPES, LILACS, and OTseeker databases, using the keywords "racism," "university," and "occupational therapy," in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, up to the year 2024. Of the 17 articles initially retrieved, 6 were selected for addressing the three thematic axes in an integrated manner. The results indicate a scarcity of studies that articulate racism, the university environment, and Occupational Therapy, highlighting a gap in the literature regarding the analysis of how racism compromises engagement, participation, and the meaning attributed to human activities in academic daily life. It is concluded that, although there have been advances in discussions on racism and mental health, Occupational Therapy still needs to expand its investigations into the effects of racial aggressions on the occupation and quality of life of Black university students.
