Objective: To study the perception of healthcare professionals within a multidisciplinary team in the context of on-the-job training, active learning methodologies as a teaching practice, and the use of health technologies in the act of care.
Method: This qualitative research used focus groups to collect data, aiming to evaluate the on-the-job training program according to the professionals' perceptions, and data on the use of care protocols as a health technology in care practice. The study was conducted in a large philanthropic hospital in the municipality of Limeira/SP, with the participation of healthcare professionals who make up the multidisciplinary team. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: The professionals described their responsibility towards learning during the training sessions, reflected on their progress, challenges, and weaknesses. They reported the opportunity to build a team based on shared knowledge, achieved through the development and application of care protocols grounded in the best scientific evidence, with the use of technology grounded in the act of care. Conclusion: On-the-job training for healthcare professionals can be strengthened through the use of active teaching methodologies, with both intellectual and social impact. Healthcare delivery relies on technology, which should be used with a focus on providing quality, user-centered care.
