The Domestic Solid Residues (DSR) have been discussed thoroughly on the part of The Public Power and the civil society, before the demands of the implantation of sanitary embankments, the construction of separating composting, selective collects, action of street and sanitary embankments workers, the formation of work cooperatives, collection forms and payment of the services, among others. This last subject, which sends to taxation forms and financing the activities of the system of solid residues, has not still been approached sufficiently in research terms, above all in municipal districts of small and medium load. Because of it, this work search intends to analyze the services related to RSD rendered by the municipal administration, through the identification of the equipments and people involved, as well as the operational and administrative costs, in the routes and collection ways (selective and pattern), of the amount of residues and disposition places. For that it was made the characterization of the activities related to DSR based in the structure, collection system and disposition, through data collected in the municipal administration. It was observed that the total cost of the collection of residues is distributed in 69,6% personal total and 30,4% representing the equipment total, maintenance, fuel and capital costs, totaling the worn-out value for the Municipal City Hall of Jaboticabal in the collection services and disposition of the urban solid residues. Analyzing the amount of urban homes in the municipal district and the values attributed in the costs of the collection services and disposition of the residues urban home solid is verified an annual medium cost by home in the order of R$ 72,00 (seventy two real). Taking as study object the municipal district of Jaboticabal - SP was made a characterization in neighborhoods, diagnosing the volume, type and pattern of residues of the selected properties. The characterization and differentiation of the general profile of the three selected neighborhoods were made, through the descriptive analysis and for the processing of statistical analysis techniques, using of variables: socioeconomic, generation of home solid residues and the consumption of water. Comparing the medium consumption of water in the researched residences, with the socioeconomic profile and the generation of home solid residues, was noticed that the pattern of consumption of residues, the income " per captures " of each neighborhood and the medium consumption of water: 40,05 m³/water (Nova Jaboticabal neighborhood), 27,17 m³/water (Aparecida neighborhood) and 16,54 m³/water (Conjunto Habitacional Ulisses Guimarães) are directly correlated. After characterizing the service of collection of the home residues and trace the general profile of the neighborhoods they were correlated and analyzed, together the 9 selected variables, through statistical analysis (main components, grouping, factorial and discriminant) looking for the elaboration of an exploratory model of taxation that is taken in consideration the socioeconomic profile, consumption of water and generation of the residues of the homes involved. The technique of grouping analysis divided the homes in three groups in agreement with the similarity of acting of the used variables, so that those homes that presented close actings were in the same group. Two variables identified as significant, being the Family Income and IPTU. So it can be said that with the values of IPTU and Family Income applied to the model it is gotten to identify what group belongs the analyzed home contributing like this in the taxation process, because the same ones can aid in the base of calculation of the municipal district through an exploratory model.

Total Cross Sections (TCS) for various processes resulting from the interaction of electrons with poliatomic molecules are clearly needed due to their relevance in many applications. The present study is part of a complete program for the experimental and theoretical determination of various Cross Sections for electron-polyatomic molecule interaction in progress at DQ - UFSCar. An apparatus based on the linear transmission technique with a retarding field after the collision chamber was built. It was need to undertake experimental determinations of TCS for electrons scattering by several targets in the energy range of 300-1000 eV. The experimental results are shown in comparison with calculations using the complex optical potential and the additivity rule.

Raputia praetermissa (Engler) Emmerich is a tree found only in the Forest Reserve Adolpho Ducke, Amazonas, Brazil. The genus Raputia was originally described by Engler and many species were included in this genus, but in 1978, Emmerich proposed three new genera Neoraputia, Raputiarana e Sigmathantus in order to accommodate six species, four belonging to the genus Raputia, which is assigned into the tribe Cuspariae, and two that had not been described yet. From our knowledge no previous phytochemical work has been reported on Raputia. Therefore, this study describes phytochemical and chemosystematic investigation and the search of compounds with trypanocidal and leishmanicidal activity from roots of R. praetermissa. The phytochemical work involved crude extract preparation, followed by fractionation and isolation of compounds thorough different chromatography methods. Spectroscopic analyses permitted the identification of them and the results showed the presence of new substances in addition to those isolated previously. Here we reported the isolation and identification of the new compounds: two new limonoids, 11β,19α-dihydroxi-7- deoxo-7-acetoxy-ichangin e 11β,19α-oxide-7-deacetoxy-7-hidroxy-ichangin, two new prenylated indoles alkaloids, 5-[(3 -dimethylalil-4 -methylidene)-2 -tetrahidrofuran-2 - il]-indol e 5-[(4 -carbomethoxy)-furan-2 -il]-indol and a new bisindol alkaloid, 5 ,6 -[5- methyl-5(7-indol-5 -il-etene-6,7-diil)-3(1-methylprop-2-en-2-il)]-ciclopentane-5 ,6 -diilindol. The following known substances were also obtained: T-cadinol, β-sitosterol, stigmasterol, campesterol, 3-[2 ,6 -dimethoxy-6 ,6 -dimethylpyrano(2 ,3 :3 ,4 ) phenyl]-methylpropionate, 3-oxo-cadinol, lanosta-7,24-dien-21-oic acid-3-oxo, dictamine, γ-fagarine, 1-methyl-4-methoxy-2-quinolone, tricoccin S13 acetate, 6- formylindol. Our results showed that the chemical classes isolated from R. praetermissa roots are common to the Rutaceae family, but the prenylated indol alkaloids are not. These compounds are new classes of prenylated indol alkaloids. However, all isolated compounds confirm the assigned it into the tribe Cuspariae. In addition, the compounds were evaluated for: a) in vitro biological activity against trypanosomastigotes forms of Trypanosoma cruzi and amastigotes forms of Leishmania braziliensis; b) enzymatic inhibitory activity on glyceraldehydes- XXXII phospato-dehidrogenase (gGAPDH) of T. cruzi and enzymatic inhibitory activity on adenine-phosphoribosyl-transferase (APRT) of Leishmania tarentolae. None of isolated substances were promising against T. cruzi in vitro test as well as in enzymatic experimental models (gGAPDH e APRT) from which they not showed enzymatic inhibitory activity. Conversely, the T-cadinol was active against L. braziliensis and results in DL50 44 µM.

Researchers, public employees and technical person in charge of the Urban Planning, more and more, need instruments that serve as support in the process for taking decisions in the formulation of strategies and politics destined to the preservation or improvement of the social well-being. In that sense, considering the potentiality that presents the study of the Quality of Life for the development of those instruments, the present work has as objective to analyze and to criticize some experiences that tried to operate the study of the Quality of Life when it is applied in the activity of the Urban Planning. In such objective, a revision of the technicianscientific literature about Quality of Life was accomplished with the purpose of being formed a theoretical referential on the theme, referential necessary for taking place the persecuted analysiscritic. Still, it was accomplished the identification and presentation of four instruments that intended to analyze and to evaluate the Quality of Life in the environment urban, contemporaries instruments, located in different contexts: Brazil, Canada, Portugal and Chile. The study was concluded with a critic of the same ones, having used the following analysis categories: managements, objective, conception, dimensions, form of elaboration of the instrument, structure and spatial reach. As resulted of the work was found that, in the analyzed experiences, the study of the Quality of Life in the urban environment has been a concern of the partner between the public management and academic research with the objective of evaluating the social well-being to give support the process for taking decisions in the formulation of the strategies and politics necessaries for the preservation or improvement of that well-being. The Quality of Life in the urban environment, in such those experiences, it has been considered as synonym of the conditions of life of the population or as the combination of the conditions of life and satisfaction of the population with those conditions,. Conceptions that have been approached through a dimension objective-material-quantitative (conditions of life of the population) and other subjective-immaterial-qualitative one (satisfaction of the population), dimensions that have been resulted of a vision technical or academic. The instruments have been operated through different domains, variables and indicators. The indicators, mainly, they have been developed with an objective-quantitative character, the ones that have been leaned in some cases with a satisfaction research - subjective-qualitative character -. The instruments have been developed with capacity of application in form spatially disaggregated in function of the homogeneity of the groups of people. Such resulted have been opposed with the theoretical referential showed from the revision of the technician-scientific literature about Quality of Life showing some observations in the conception, complementarity of the dimensions and participation of the population in the construction of the instruments. The Quality of Life, in the literature, it is pointed as the level of satisfaction of the population in function of their condition of life, the one that is evaluated from the particular values of the same population in a physical context". Situation that distinguish the satisfaction and condition of life of the population as the two dimensions under the which it has to be examined (dimensions objective and subjective), dimensions that have to refer the same subjects and; the particular values of the population as the aspect under which the priorities of the same population might be reflected with the participation the same one in the construction of the instruments. Key words: Urban planning, Quality of urban life - index, Indicators of quality, Methods of evaluation.

Currently, some genomas of creatures are being mapping, so enormous amounts of data are being generated. This data is sometimes stored in different data sources and at many times, these sources are heterogeneous and distributed, which results in the necessity of the use of new query techniques and integration of data. After this, the biologists can usufruct greaters and better resources during the research process. This work has the proposal of to build a Bioinformatics environment for the integration of different data sources and their reorganization in a centered source that supports a flexible and efficient manner to build queries. The environment is called as Bio-TIM, which is composed by three layers. The main one is called "Mediator" and it is composed by a connection manager for databases management systems, by wrappers, by a Data Warehouse and by a specific database.

The spinels investigated in the present work were obtained by solid state reaction at 750 ºC for 72 h among the precursors ε-MnO2, LiOH and the respective oxides/salt of the doping ions. In order to control the particles size, all the spinels were milled in a ball milling for 30 min. The mechanical milling, associated or not to further calcination, was also used for obtaining the pure spinel LiMn2O4. The different obtained spinels were characterized by the average manganese valence (n), X ray diffractometry, electronic scanning microscopy, particles size distribution and specific superficial area. From the X ray diffractograms, spinels of single cubic phase belong to the Fd3m space group were identified. The calculated values for the unity cell parameter (a) were lower for the doped spinels (8,221 Å at 8,229 Å) than for the pure one (8,234 Å), decreasing in the following order: a(Li1,05Ga0,02Mn1,98O4) > a(Li1,05Co0,02Mn1,98O4) > a(Li1,05Al0,02Mn1,98O4) > a(Li1,05M0,02Mn1,98O3,98S0,02) > a(Li1,05M0,02Mn1,98O3,98F0,02). The values of n were higher for the doped spinels (3,56 3,50) than for the pure one (3,53 ± 0,01), decreasing in the following order: n(Li1,05Ga0,02Mn1,98O4) > n(Li1,05Co0,02Mn1,98O4) > n(Li1,05Al0,02Mn1,98O4) > n(Li1,05M0,02Mn1,98O3,98F0,02) > n(Li1,05M0,02Mn1,98O3,98S0,02). The mechanical milling after calcination changed the spinel particles in three aspects: formation of nanometer-scale particles, generation of lattice strain and partial oxidation of manganese ions. Before calcination, it allowed obtaining of pure spinel LiMn2O4 with highly disordered lattice structure, nanometer particles and high number of structural defects. A gel polymer electrolyte of the polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/polyvinylacrylate (PVA) was developed with different mixtures of organic solvents and lithium salts. From impedance measurements, the highest value of ionic conductivity (1,47 x 10-3 S cm-1) was obtained, at 25 oC, for the electrolyte prepared from the mixture (1:1) of ethyl (EC) and dimethyl (DMC) carbonates containing 1 mol L-1 of lithium tetrafluoroborate (LiBF4). Cyclic voltammetric measurements showed that this gel electrolyte only oxidizes at potentials close to 5 V vs. Li/Li+. In the charge and discharge tests, the cathodes of the doped spinels presented values of specific discharge capacity decreasing in the following order: C(Li1,05Al0,02Mn1,98S3,02O3,98) > C(Li1,05Al0,02Mn1,98F3,02O3,98) > C(Li1,05Ga0,02Mn1,98S3,02O3,98) > C(Li1,05Ga0,02Mn1,98F3,02O3,98) > C(Li1,05Co0,02Mn1,98S3,02O3,98) > C(Li1,05Co0,02Mn1,98F3,02O3,98). Although the Li1,05Al0,02Mn1,98S3,02O3,98 cathode presented the highest initial capacity value (126 mA h g-1), the Li1,05Ga0,02Mn1,98S3,02O3,98 cathode presented the lowest capacity fading (from 120 mA h g-1 to 115 mA h g-1, that is, only 4%) after three hundred cycles of charge and discharge.

The formation of nanocomposites well exfoliated is dependent of several factors, like organic treatment with appropriate ammonium quaternary salts to promote adequate interaction between polymer and clay. The objective of this work was to produce nanocomposites of polymer and brazilian clay through melt intercalation and also to analyze the effects of the clay treatment in satisfactory preparation of the nanocomposite. In this work it were used three different types of salts to obtain organoclay. The nanocomposites of PA6 / organoclay were obtained via melt intercalation method using a corotating twin screw extruder. After extrusion the samples were injection molded into specimens that were tested to obtain the properties of tensile strength, notched izod impact and heat deflection temperature. The thermal behavior of the sample was analyzed by TGA and DSC. The nanocomposites were also characterized by XRD and TEM. The results showed that salt type dodigen affects the mechanical properties of the nanocomposites, HDT and morphology leading to higher level of exfoliation in relation to the others salts. The improvement of the properties was influenced by the level of exfoliation / intercalation obtained wich depends on the processes technique used, surface treatment of the brazilian clays with organic salts and good polar interaction between polymer and clay

It has been demonstrated that serotonin (5HT) plays a dual role on anxiety states. Depending on the type of 5HT receptor and cerebral sites serotonin increases or decreases anxiety. Several studies have emphasized a role of the 5HT2 receptors on anxiety modulation. In rats, intra-hippocampus or intra-amygdala infusions of 5HT2 receptor ligands result in inconsistent effects in many animal models of anxiety. This study investigated the effect of the 5HT2B/2C receptor agonist mCPP bilaterally microinjected into dorsal (DH: 0, 0.3, 1.0 or 3.0 nmol/0.2 µl) or ventral (VH: 0, 0.3, 1.0 or 3.0 nmol/0.2 µl) hippocampus and amygdaloid complex (0, 0.15, 0.5, 1.0 or 3.0 nmol/0.1 µl) in mice exposed to the elevated plus maze (EPM). Test sessions were videotaped and subsequently scored for conventional indices of anxiety (percentage of open arm entries and percentage of open arm time) and locomotor activity (closed arm entries). Results showed that mCPP microinfusions into DH or VH did not affect any behavioral measure in the EPM. However, when injected into the amygdaloid complex this 5HT2 receptor agonist selectively increased anxiety at 1 nmol dose. In addition, none dose of mCPP changed locomotor activity when injected into the amygdaloid complex. Our results suggest that the 5HT2B,2C receptors located within the amygdaloid complex (but not within the hippocampus) play a role on anxiety in mice exposed to the EPM.

In the present work it was studied the influence of operational conditions particularly dissolved oxygen concentration in the penicillin G acylase (PGA) production. The experiments were carried out in aerated and agitated bioreactor employing bacteria Bacillus megaterium. The production of PGA is sensitive to dissolved oxygen concentration during its cultivation. As much its lack as its excess can be reduces PGA production. As regarding dissolved oxygen concentration the experiments realized in 10% of its saturation showed the better results. The media composition was not significantly influence on enzyme production. The use of potassium acetate instead of phenyl acetic acid as well as the reduction of eighteen for seven amino acids did not have effect on the cells and enzyme concentrations obtained. It was proposed an hybrid model combining mass balance equation with artificial neural network to infer the cellular concentration during the process. The proposed model showed good results to modeling cellular concentration in both training and validate data sets.

In this work a qualitative study was carried out, using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), exchanging cobalt by nickel in LixNiyCo1-yO2 compound synthetized by method of the polymeric precursor (Pechini s Method). A systematic study of LixCoO2 compound was also carried out to, used as cathode material in rechargeable lithium ion batteries. In this systematic study of LixCoO2 the structural characterization was made, by x-ray diffraction, and the identification of different possible structures was made by the structural refinement (Rietveld s Method), being based on three possible structures: LixCoO2 (layered), LiCo2O4 and Co3O4 (both spinel-type). The LixCoO2 electrodes were electrochemically characterized by cyclical voltammetry, to study the system s reversibility, chronopotenciometry, to study the system specific capacity, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, to understanding chemical and physical system s phenomena. The LixCoO2 compounds had layered-type structure like the main phase, showed by Rietveld s Method. To the same oxide, cyclical voltammetry showed reversible processes of oxidation/reduction. Chronopotenciometry showed a lost in specific capacity caused by increase of spinel-type structure. The add of nickel on compound became easier the oxidation/reduction process, although this was carried out by the increase of the spinel-type structure to.

The Itajaí-Açu river watershed is characterized by moderate agricultural use and rapid urban development. The risks on freshwater resources are notorious, but there is a lack of systematic technical data to qualify the level of degradation and to support decisions and forecasting. The main purpose of the present study was to diagnose the water quality of the lower Itajaí-Açu river and determine its relationship with land use, generating background information to integrated water resources management activities. Three procedures were executed: (a) the generation of land use charts; (b) the monitoring of chemical, biological and ecotoxicological variables in water and, (c) the preliminary characterization of sediments and pollution sources. The land use showed the predominance of forests (59%), followed by pasture/agriculture (27%) and urban areas (7%). The general water quality was regular, with 90% of legal framing for pH, BOD5, heavy metals, inorganic dissolved nutrients, surfactants and faecal coliforms; and about 70% of legal framing to dissolved oxygen and turbidity. Nutrients and other pollution indicators were directly related to rainfall and river discharge before reaching large urban areas and inversely related after these areas. In the estuarine area, physical-chemical processes induced by marine salinity caused the P-PO4 3- and suspended material to diminish in the water column. Regarding pollution sources; chemical industries, domestic wastewater and urban streams generated the highest toxicity levels. An ilustrative approach regarding the budget of nutrients and other materials and the river self purification capability showed four distinct situations or trends: (1) the case of the benchmark station, subjected to only few impacts presenting self purification processes of little importance; (2) the case of urban stations, subjected to many impacts from its contributing area, having a limited capacity to locally neutralize it; (3) the case of rural stations, which receive impacts from the upper river and specific impacts from its contribution area, but show the occurrence of self purification processes and; (4) the case of the estuarine and urbanized stations which receive many impacts, but present considerable conditions of self purification due to the influence of marine processes.

Geometridae larvae feeding on two Stryphnodendron species were collected twice a month over an year in a cerrado area in São Carlos, SP, Brazil. 1062 larvae were found and reared in laboratory. Fifteen species and ten genera were recorded: Thyrinteina arnobia, Thyrinteina schadeana , Physocleora junctilinea , Iridopsis fulvitincta, Glena unipennaria , Glena subannulata , Glena brachia , Hymenomima amberia , Hymenomima conia, Macaria abydata , Macaria sp., Prochoerodes sp., Patalene sp., Scopula sp. and Leuciris sp. The latter was the most frequent species. A greater number of larvae were found on S. obovatum than on S. adstringens. Nevertheless, larvae feeding in S. adstringens were more likely to be parasitized than those feeding on S. obovatum.152 cases of parasitism were recorded due to Diptera (Tachinidae) or Hymenoptera (Ichneumonidae, Braconidae, Chalcididae e Eulophidae); Euplectrus sp. (Eulophidae) was the commonest parasitoid. The number of collect larvae was related to leafing phenologies and increased during the leaf expansion time.

This work presents a classical and a Bayesian approaches to two sigmoidal grownth curves, the Gompertz and the Richards models. We consider the homoscedastic assumption and a multiplicative heteroscedastic structure. For the classical approach we use the maximum likelihood method and for bayesian approach we consider non-informative priors. The posterioris summaries were obtained by the use of the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm. The illustration of both approaches is made using a simulated and a real data set.

The bone sympathetic innervation influences the osteoblastic activity and supports the participation of Autonomic Nervous System on the bone formation regulation. Treatment with guanetidine promotes denervation of the sympathetic system in humans as well as animals. This work aims at investigating participation of the sympathetic system on the femur biology of ovariectomized adult rats. For this purpose, physical and biomechanical parameters, in addition to plasma and femur calcium were analyzed. Forty one, 4-month aged female Wistar rats were divided into the following experimental groups: basal (n=9), intact (n=8) treated with 1ml saline/Kg BW, castrated and treated with 1ml saline/Kg BW (n=7), castrated and treated with 37 mg guanetidine/Kg BW during six weeks (n=9) and castrated and treated with 40 mg guanetidine/Kg BW during eight weeks (n=8). The treatment was performed during six days/week. The animals were housed under controlled temperature (22 ± 1°C) and light (lights on between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily) conditions. The rats had free access to food and tap water. After 8 weeks the animals were sacrificed. It was determined that ovariectomy induced higher BW gain and osteopenia. The denervation promoted by guanetidine did not protect the bone tissue from the deleterious effects on account of castration as demonstrated by the values of physical, biochemical and biomechanical parameters.

The general aim of this study was the evaluation of the speech-recognition technology together with the MESTRE software, in order to check their viability to educational objectives. 110 individuals participated of this study, divided in four groups: G1, constituted by 10 university students; G2, constituted by 60 children presenting normal development: 20 children from 4 years to 4 years and 11 months; 20 children from 5 years to 6 years and 11 months and 20 children from 7 to 7 years and 11 months; G3, constituted by 20 individuals with diagnosis of mental deficiency, from 7 to 14 year old, and G4, constituted by 20 individuals from 7 to 11 year old with diagnosis of phonologic disturbs. The experimental stimuli were presented through the software MESTRE, constituted by two sets, A and B. The A set formed by 51 words of the Portuguese language and the B set was formed by 51 pictures related to the words of the A set. The tested relations were: spoken word - oral production (AE relations); picture oral production (BE relations). The results were statistically analyzed. The average of right answers of the AE relation tasks was compared to the BE relation of the same group of stimuli and the differences were considered non-significant. In the analysis by groups of individuals, the average of right answers in each tested relation was: in G1, in the AE relation, 90,51% and in BE relation, 90,49%; in G2, from 4 years to 4 years and 11 months, the average was 55,4% in AE relation and 52,4% in BE relation; from 5 years to 6 years and 11 months it was 67,18% in AE relation and 68,76% in BE relation; from 7 to 7 years and 11 months it was 77,61% in AE relation and 76% in BE relation; in G3, 61,99% in AE relation and 59,74% in BE relation; in G4, 49,66% in AE relation and 49,55% in BE relation. The results showed that the procedure is effective for speech recognition in adults, to children it may be effective considering the age, because the older the children are the largest the recognition rate. The procedure can become a great instrument of aid to educators in the work with individuals presenting special educational needs concerned to language problems, in the initial grades of schooling.

In the last 10 years the insect cell Drosophila melanogaster Schneider S2 has been increasingly used for studies of proteins recombinants. However, there is a lack of studies that involved parameters related to the use of the insect cell Drosophila melanogaster in bioprocess. The aim of this work was to study the factors physiologies important in the cultures of the insect cells Drosophila melanogaster S2 (S2) and recombinant S2 (rS2), through cultures in Schott flask, serum free medium at 28°C. There were performed experiments with the purpose of monitoring the viability cellular of insect cells by the methods of exclusion of Trypan blue and of fluorescent dyes. Both methods used in the experiments to monitor the viability of the cultures of the cells S2 and rS2 were shown reliable for the identification of the percentage of viable cells. The studies revealed that growth of S2 and rS2 cells was not limited by the total consumption of amino acids and glucose. In the experiments utilizing the rS2 cells to verify the influence of the age of the inoculum and concentration of the inoculum, it was verified that both parameters did not have influence in the growth specific rate. Experiments done in Schott flask of 250 mL with a working of 50 mL, in which were monitored the concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO) in the broths of cultivation of the cells S2 and rS2. The results demonstrated that the cultivation reaches the stationary phase with very low level of dissolved oxygen, whit DO being a limiting factor of the growth of the cells. The specific oxygen consumption rate (QO2) demonstrates an accentuated decrease in the exponential phase of growth, except for stationary phase. The excess of oxygen in the initial phase of the cultivation was harmful to the growth of the cells. However, in the experiments done in Schott flask 100 mL with a working volume of 20 mL, QO2 of the cells rS2, revealed 10 to 15 times smaller than these performed in the Schott flask of 250 mL. The experiments done in Schott flask of 100 mL with different agitations demonstrated that for low agitation the transfer of oxygen should be a limiting factor in the cellular growth. The cellular viability for all of the experiments performed in different agitations stayed between 95 and 99% of viable cells indicating that the cells were in good physiologic state.
