The constant improvement in performance that computers and interconnection networks present has favored the use of distributed computational resources, and given rise to Grid Computing. This new approach uses heterogeneous and geographically distributed resources to resolve problems with high computational costs. The execution of applications in this environment is generally achieved with scheduling mechanisms that manipulate the task set and its interdependences, mapping the tasks on to the resources. However, existing schedulers generate the schedule of each application individually, not evaluating the impact on the execution of previously scheduled applications. In this sense, this work presents a global scheduling tool for the tasks submitted to the Grid, and also presents a scheduling algorithm that allocates tasks between previously scheduled slots of time. The use of the proposed tool and algorithm permit a reduction in the amount of time processors remain idle and therefore a more efficient execution of the applications.

The bariatric surgery has been considered an effective procedure for weight and co-morbidities reductions and consequently for the life quality improvement. However, in the same way as all surgeries, it can bring complications and alterations in the pulmonary function meanly in obeses. In this way, the objective of this study was the evaluation of the pulmonary function, the respiratory muscular strength and the thoracic mobility after the physiotherapy treatment with transcutaneous electric diaphragmatic stimulation (TEDS) in patients submitted to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) and the quality of their lives after the weight reduction. Forty-four morbid obese women with BMI > 40kg/m2 were studied. The Ethics Committee of Researches properly approved this study. The obese women were evaluated through spirometry, manovacuometry and thoracic abdominal cirtometry in the pre-operative period and fifteen and thirty days after the surgery ; they were randomly separated into two groups of twenty-two each. The Control Group (CG) was submitted to the conventional chest physiotherapy (CCP), while Experimental Group (EG) was submitted to the conventional chest physiotherapy associated with the TEDS (CCP+TEDS). The assessment of the life quality occurred between the sixth and the sixteenth month of the post-operative period by the BAROS questionnaire. To the statistics analysis was used GraphPad InStat for Windows, 3.05 version, the test of Kolmorogov Smirnov, Friedman and Mann-Whitney. It was considered significant p<0.05. To the data analysis of the BAROS questionnaire, descriptive statistics tests like average, standard deviation, absolute numeral values and percentage were used. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences to the flows and pulmonary volume measurements and to the MIP (p>0.05). Related to the MEP, there was a progressive and significant reduction from the pre to the thirty day after the surgery for the CG, but not to the EG. It was observed that the alterations in the thorax abdominal mobility were not significant to the CG in any evaluation. However, with the EG, the differences were significant at the three moments of evaluations and to the three evaluated locals. Finally, the result of the quality of life questionnaire BAROS application showed that the bariatric surgery got satisfactory results to 2,27%, good to 9,10%, very good to 36,36% and excellent to 52,27% of the patients. Based on these results it is possible conclude that both CCP and (CCP) associated with TEDS were effective in the maintenance of pulmonary flows and volumes, of the capacity of muscle endurance, and the maintenance of the strenght muscles at the post-operative period of the RYDG. However, the CCP associated with the TEDS revealed to be much more effective not only to the maintenance of the expiratory muscles strenght as to guarantee a greater thorax abdominal mobility by increasing the muscle contraction. The loss of overweighting contributes to the life quality improvement in morbid obese women.

The aim of this research is to present a discussion and an analysis of the epistemological statute of the main theories regarding the philosophy of mind. In order to do that, we have developed some basic notions of the scientific investigation theory to determine the degree of assurance, certainty and scientificity that go with some of the descriptions, metaphors, models and theories concerning the philosophy of mind. After that, we organized an itinerary of the main models and metaphors in mind research, from the birth of 19th century Psychology to the Cognitive Sciences of the last three decades. We have identified the alternance criteria regarding the metaphors and models that have been used in research about the mind. Then, we reached what we have called a triple dominion of models, which has been used along the 20th and in the beginning of the 21st centuries: the representational and information processing model, deriving from the Cognitive Sciences; the Cognitive Neuroscience, which resumes philosophical issues such as mind and intentionality; and the biological model, specifically the one concerning Evolutionist Psychology. We have tried to demonstrate the epistemological and methodological bases and the competences of this new dominion of models, as well as their limits and reach. In this way, we come to the thesis itself: the proposition that Jerry A. Fodor s representational and modular notion of the mind is a perspective that converges on such triple dominion. We understand that Fodor s contributions are basic for a research program in the philosophy of mind, considering that the program aims at defining methodological strategies and it also reviews essential epistemological issues. Regarding the discussions about the mind, Fodor emphasizes that psychology requires philosophical support and that there should be a flow of theses from psychology to philosophy as well; in this way, reductionist theories and conceptual illusions would be avoided. Fodor s epistemological contribution is a reference regarding the explanation of mental states, avoiding the proliferation of terms and notions.

Due to the need to improve business competitiveness and create jobs, has seen in the last decade, the emergence of Brazil Local Clusters (APLs), following a trend seen in other countries, mainly in Italy. These arrangements are characterized by similar productive and high degree of interaction between companies. In Paraná were identified 22 APLs, seven of which are linked to the textile sector, this sector which is responsible for the second largest generation of jobs in the state. Considering the importance of APLs and the textile sector for the Paraná, this work was aimed at reviewing the major general practice of quality management and the development of products made by companies in local productive arrangements. He had specific goals as the characterization and comparison of APLs on quality management and development of products and identifies the actions of the government or local governance that can contribute to the development of APLs. To achieve the goals was conducted through a search of seven case studies APLs in the textile sector of Paraná. The main outcome was possible identify a heterogeneity in the treatment of quality management and the development of products in APLs of the state and in general where there is investment in quality management and the development of products there is a strengthening of the companies that are becoming, this so, less susceptible to external competition.
