listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Desenvolvimentos mecânicos e computacionais de suporte às medidas com sensores termoelásticos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-08-30) Reis, Alan Ribeiro dos; Pessoa, José Dalton Cruz; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4212703554284544; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5771511854912563The hydrostatic pressure inside the cell or simply cell turgor is an important component of texture in vegetables and is directly related to firmness. The decrease in cell turgor of plant organs is also an indicator of loss of tissue water. This effect can be perceived visually by wilting accompanied by a dry appearance with the loss of brightness and color of products, which influences consumer perceptions about its quality. Within this context has been crafted technique for measuring turgor with Thermoelastic Probe® (TP) based on the principle of measuring isovolumetric. After an extensive literature review found that the published studies on TP, presented further on control theory and modeling of physical phenomena involved in the measurement of turgor. However not bring practical results, containing automated measurements of cell turgor in plants. This study aimed to fill this gap. In this direction was made improving of the method to manufacturing the sensor and a new mechanical design for TP. The attainment of the sensors is given through the steps of stretching the capillary, making the tip, sanding, filling and sealing fluid sensor. The method for obtaining the proposed sensor showed minimal utilization rate of 27.0% representing an improvement of 540% over the figures provided by the available literature. Since the new mechanical design of TP significantly improved the alignment and relative positioning of the sensor, sample and image capture system. The process of exchange of sensor and positioning of the sample for measurement of turgor was also facilitated, resulting in an average time of 5 minutes to perform these tasks. This marked a breakthrough since the previous version, users reported that this task could take up to 60 minutes. Both activities related to the new mechanical design of the ST and the improvement of the methodology for obtaining sensor thermoelastic were preparatory to the development of automatic control of turgor measurement. The automation of the measurement process was performed after the implementation of a software to detect the position of the meniscus oil / cytoplasm based on the determination of the difference in contrast between the phases formed by the fluid sensor (oil ) and intracellular fluid. For automatic control of the position of the meniscus, was implemented a Proportional Integral type controller. The proposed values for the parameters of controller allowed the control of the selected position of the meniscus and automatic - x - determination of turgor pressure in cells of onion (Allium cepa L.). In an unprecedented manner, this paper makes the first successful experiment in automatic determination of cell turgor in plant organs with Termoelastic Probe.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, PROUNI: trajetórias(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-08-30) Ferreira, Karin Terrell; Silva Junior, João dos Reis; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4383025493040249Established in 2004 by the Federal Government and ruled by Ministry of Education as a public policy of educational inclusion, the Program Universidade para Todos (ProUni) aims to help the modification of the exculpatory reality of higher education in Brazil. By granting scholarships to low-income students - especially those from public schools in the country - the Program provides the entry of these young people in private higher institutions, previously registered, which in turn have tax benefits. Under this Program, a few years ago, the presence of social categories that were practically excluded from higher education raises questions that deserve reflection. Studying the story of these students during their initial training and trying to understand the changes in demands and in daily practices at school and labor market, as well as the profile of these students in contemporary society, represents a necessity for research and for the educational policies in Brazil. Through this new reality of Brazilian education, this work has the intention of investigate the factors that motivate students who enrolled in the Pedagogy course at an IES from Limeira/SP to seek the graduation at this kind of teaching, understanding the meaning of the education for them, as well as their expectations and aspirations related to the future and work. This analysis of the scholar and professional trajectories from the students is guided at a sociological perspective of Pierre Bourdieu and contributors.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Moodle e GeoGebra como apoio virtual ao ensino de trigonometria segundo a nova proposta curricular do estado de São Paulo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-08-30) Aguiar, Anderson Luiz de; Caetano, Paulo Antônio Silvani; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0370219014539994; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1808009755717486This work is the development, implementation and evaluation of a Virtual Learning Environment to support teaching trigonometry Curriculum Proposal according to the State of São Paulo, with strong use of dynamic geometry viewers. That proposal, implemented since 2008 with the name São Paulo Faz Escola, brings a series of actions to improve of education in face of national assessments of São Paulo, and the international quality indicators established by the Ministry of Education. The teaching material from these actions required a recycling of the practice, focusing on learning skills and abilities. Within this overall picture we develop teaching sequences with the use of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) to show the student as the protagonist of the construction of knowledge. The implementation of the environment occurred in the first grade of Public Hight School, Newton Prado, during the 4th school grade of 2010 and had part of its five weekly classes held in the computer lab. We believe that these results will undoubtedly contribute to the improvement and development of basic education, especially math.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Proposta de método para avaliação do processo de extração de sucos cítricos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-08-30) Kharfan, Daniela; Toledo, José Carlos de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9421627326330417For almost one century, citrus chain has been one of the most important agribusiness for Brazil. Brazil is the largest world orange producer and the largest orange juice exporter, responsible for almost 90% of the worldwide orange juice exportations. Doubtless one of the most important Brazilian sectors, citrus is responsible for a huge percentage of the agribusiness exportations (around USD 1,5bilion/year) and one of the economy motors of the central regions of the State of São Paulo. Over this period, many changes occurred and are still going on into the national and international scenarios. Also, in the XXI century changes have being happened more quick and intense: great fruit and orange juice price oscillations, influence of exchange variation, the 2008 economical crisis, influence of climate conditions and incidence of new diseases, besides demand variations regarding volume and type of product (advent of NFC Not From Concentrate or single strength juice). Citrus processing industry represents a fundamental key role in the whole chain, to achieve new frontiers, putting the Brazilian product into the 5 continents, leveraging exportations to almost 1,300 k/tons of juice exported annually. To guarantee competitiveness in the business, processors have searched continuous improvement on processes, equipment, management techniques as well as quality standards of their products, in order to meet the demands of the market that, year by year, have become more discerning and demanding. There is also the need of continuous improvement and adjustment of the Research & Development techniques for equipment applied to industry, to attend the new parameters. Performance tests of citrus juice equipment are totally important to: evaluate productive process efficiency, investment definition, meet customer s standards and represent a point that impacts the strategic corporate decisions. The purpose of this master s degree dissertation is to propose a method for evaluating the technical-economic stage of citrus juice extraction. The study aims the juice extraction process introduced in the citrus juice extraction chain. For this, it was performed a review of literature and a case study in the segment of citrus juice processing. The research approach used is qualitative and quantitative, using already existent data, from empirical studies conducted in the sector. This work aims to structure and propose a method for the process of citrus juice comparative tests, and the performance evaluation of the extraction system, considering the higher number of variables and ensuring all necessary and sufficient data for decisionmaking. As academic contribution, this work aims to bring an empirical example improvement of food industry equipment, using experimental techniques and data analysis in a specific juice extraction situation, whose results are used for tracking their productive processes, monitoring and improving performance and decision-making regarding changes and investments.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Cerâmicas refratárias resinadas: fundamentos, análise crítica e efeito dos agentes grafitizantes e antioxidantes(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-08-30) Bitencourt, Celina Souza; Pandolfelli, Victor Carlos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7369376873984839; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4462982843508209Improvements on carbon containing refractories are synonymous of benefits for the entire steel industry. In the last years, two particular developments deserve to be highlighted: (i) the report of additives able to graphitize the carbon fixed by the thermoset polymers used as refractory binders and (ii) the induction, by combining antioxidants, of in situ growth special whiskers. Whereas the graphitization would reduce the disadvantages that thermosetting resins present when compared to other organic binders, the whiskers would be able to afford significant improvements concerning mechanical and chemical resistances. However, the fundamentals at which these innovations are based on left some unanswered questions. Therefore, the main purpose of this project was to reproduce and analyze these technologies in order to fill such gaps, by evaluating MgO-C model compositions via XRD, SEM and thermogravimetry. The attained results shown that both technologies appreciably modified the phases developed in these model compositions. However, regarding the graphitizing agents, such changes did not lead to benefits related to the carbon oxidation resistance, and the literature results concerning special whiskers were not fully reproduced. It was also observed that the model compositions approach presents some weak links and their use to forecast the refractory microstructure would not be recommended. Nevertheless, based on the experiments carried out, an enormous diversity of whiskers were attained which could also been formed in the refractories. This latter issue motivates further analysis in order to evaluate the consequences of such structures in the thermo-mechanical properties. Additionally, aiming to understand the carbon containing refractories and to identify other routes less explored to improve them, this project also reviews and critically analyses the literature in the area and in the correlated ones, such as those on carbon and polymers fields.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Uso do balanced scorecard para mensurar o capital humano : estudo de caso múltiplo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-08-30) Rodrigues, Elaine; Martins, Roberto Antonio; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3518820028045730; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4871292862269352The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is based principally the implementation of the strategy into four perspectives: financial, customer, internal processes and learning and growth. Strategy execution suffers the direct influence of the people who develop and therefore no need for the management of people take a new approach to the implementation of the BSC. According to some authors, you can enter in BSC implementation of the strategic management of people, considering the scorecards of human capital in order to permanently evaluate the efficiency of the implementation of global strategy and strategic objectives of the success and effectiveness of the force work in relation to the results achieved by keeping some factors that directly influence that success, as the understanding of organizational culture, development of skills and behaviors. This dissertation aims to investigate how the BSC can be used to measure human capital (HC), performing a comparative analysis between literature and practice of both companies. The research method used was a multiple case study of two companies that have implemented the BSC indicators incorporating some of the CH. The research identified that companies have studied the BSC tailored to your needs for a "strategic planning" that begins with the SWOT analysis. They have overall strategy and departmental strategic objectives, targets and action plan for each business unit. The definition of performance indicators of the Human Resources department is based on research of weather and from this the internal actions are directed to be made that ultimately reflect directly in the implementation of actions related to such indicators. Across these companies use the BSC alone does not allow the measurement of human capital is necessary for managers to set strategic indicators aligned with the company's overall strategy in line with human performance necessary to implement such strategies.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Considerações sobre autenticidade e direitos autorais em materiais didáticos para ensino-aprendizagem de língua inglesa nas modalidades presencial e a distância(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-08-30) Rossetti, Gabriela; Augusto-Navarro, Eliane Hercules; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5716027350340906; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9098277306915682The diversity of educational contexts presented by face-to-face and distance education enables English teachers not only to choose and adopt didactic materials that are available for purchase, but also to evaluate and adapt an existing material or even produce their own teaching materials. Having such context in mind, this study brings an analysis and presents considerations about the question of authenticity in the production of didactic materials for face-to-face and distance teaching and learning processes, and the relation between authenticity and teaching materials with copyright issues.
