The Science Teaching, spurred by the development of science and technology as well as the field of education, seeks paradigms that go beyond positivist approaches and linear knowledge production. Perceptions of the social dimensions of science and technology have led to this PhD study to realize a proposal within the dialogic Science Teaching and STS Education (Science, Technology and Society). Perceptions of the social dimensions of science and technology have led to this PhD study to realize a proposal within the dialogic Science Teaching and STS Education. The aim of this study is to verify the ownership of the theoretical framework of Paulo Freire in Science Teaching and Education CTS, represented by the scientific production of theses and dissertations and courses offered by the graduate. Represented by the research questions: How do I set the presence of referential Freire in STS Education and Teaching STS represented by the scientific production of theses and dissertations and the disciplines offered in graduate? What are the epistemological bases underpinning the theses in the field of Education and Higher Education STS adopted the theoretical Freire? The methodological procedures used include bibliometric research and epistemological analysis, with the construction of four matrices analysis, which reach the theoretical, epistemological, ontological and gnosiological of the studies analyzed. In bibliometric survey data collection was made on Bank CAPES thesis and Notebook Indicators Capes. To search for theses and dissertations search terms used were combinations of "STS Education" "Teaching STS" and "Science Education Paulo Freire. The data were processed in VantagePoint software and Excel ®. We analyzed 43 studies that used the theoretical perspective of Paulo Freire, 34 masters and nine doctoral. In Notebooks Indicators Capes data were collected from 57 subjects of 22 educational institutions in search of references related to Paulo Freire. Bibliometric analysis results indicate that the theses and dissertations are concentrated in the area of Education and Science and Mathematics at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Universidade de Brasília and São Paulo University. To relate data from the Bank of Theses and Notebooks Indicators analyzed data from UFSC, UNB and USP with the literature of the subjects of their graduate programs, identifying literature Paulo Freire used: Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Pedagogy Autonomy. The epistemological analysis was performed by analysis of three matrices: 1) matrix ownership Freire's theoretical framework, 2) matrix paradigmatic STS , and 3) analysis matrix epistemological framework Freire. Results of the research show that the epistemological bases underpinning the theses in the field of STS Education and Science Education adopted the theoretical Freire point to changes that include critical-dialectical approaches. Work on Science Education seeks to revise the linear and positivist paradigm to which they are subjected. And work in STS Education /Science Teaching clarifies their limitations and seeks complementarity with the pedagogical thinking of Paulo Freire. Built in a humanistic and critical, the subject of knowledge is central, built and socio-historically mediated world. This study aims to add knowledge to the studies Freirean of Science Teaching and STS Education, in the sense that their results contribute to the expansion of critical mass on the need for theoretical research in Science Teaching in STS perspective.

This work aims to analyze the media statements about the "new": analyzing the discourse that older objects and knowledge that are not yet unusable. To do so, we will try to tread a path through the theoretical issue of consumption (before becoming consumerism), trying to analyze historically the conversion process of enduring relationships (with objects, people, knowledge etc.) in ephemeral relationships, from discourse of obsolescence. Once defined and analyzed the theoretical framework, we will analyze three discursive materiality (in order: the movie "The Last Laugh", the advertising campaign "Intel Ultrabook Convertible", and the movie "The Devil Wears Prada") with the intention of analyzing the discourse about the "new" and obsolescence.

The central theme of this research consists on the theoretical foundation research in Education. The overall objective was to realize a bibliometric and epistemological analysis of the doctoral theses of the Post-Graduate Program in Education UFSCar, to determine the epistemological paradigm that predominated in such research and thus explain the relationship between the production of scientific PPGE-UFSCar and the changes that occurred in the socio-historical context and also in research on education in Brazil from the 1990s. The empirical research that has limited the scientific production of the PPGE Doctoral Course in Area of Concentration in Foundations of Education, the theses defended in the period between 1993 and 2007, totaling 55 theses. As the theoretical framework, although this work presents the different epistemological paradigms that underlie research in Education, was designed specifically for Dialectical Historical Materialism. Regarding methodology, this research is exploratory and descriptive, it was dedicated to identify and analyze the scientific production selected. For this end, we employed the following techniques: a) bibliometric analysis to treat and analyze quantitatively the scientific consist of the 55 theses; b) content analysis to determine the theoretical and methodological framework that guided the research techniques as well as epistemological, ontological and ethical present in the process of knowledge production; c) analysis of questionnaires completed by faculty advisors, and its main publications, expanding the discussion on the theoretical present in the production of scientific PPGE. Sources of research data were: a) the theses obtained in Community Library UFSCar and file PPGE-UFSCar as well as the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations of BCo/UFSCar; b) the Bank of Theses and Terms Indicators of the CAPES, which provided information about thesis bibliometric; c) the curricula of Plataforma Lattes of doctoral students and faculty mentors; d) questionnaires answered by faculty advisors and their major publications. The search result is provided in three parts, the first being a historical overview of educational research in Brazil, located in the educational context and broader social, then notes on the philosophical foundations of the major paradigms used in educational research, and finally the third part presents the elements of analysis of scientific production, the object of the research context, and the procedures and results of analysis of doctoral theses. Results reveal the dominance of the paradigm of Historical Materialism Dialectic, used in over 63 % of the theses, followed by post-modern trends, used in 30 % of searches, and Phenomenology, used in three theses. No thesis used Positivism as epistemological paradigm. These ratings were corroborated by the epistemological, ontological and ethical assumptions, as well as by references to authors and works connected to these paradigms.

In the activity of supplying sugar cane to the mills in Brazil, there are governance structures differentiated between plants and also for the same plant. These structures range from the highest level of hierarchy vertical integration, in which the plant produces its own fields in the raw material for its supply to the less of hierarchy spot market, in which the plant gets the sugar cane from outside farmers without contracts or commitments with the following crops. Between these two extreme governance structures have been identified other supply arrangements called hybrids. The main objective of this thesis is to identify the factors that influence the choice of governance structures present in the supply of sugar cane in a given group of mills in the West region of São Paulo/BR State. The specific objectives are to: a) show what determines the representativeness of each governance structure in the mills selected in the West region of the state of São Paulo; b) identify the existence of plural forms; c) analyze the factors that justify the option in the mills for plural or singular forms of governance in the same type of transaction in the region West of the state of São Paulo; and d) compare the supply strategies of the plants of western São Paulo. This analysis was performed under the focus of the New Institutional Economics literature, especially dealing with the characteristics of transactions Transaction Cost Economics. The research is characterized, as the social group as explanatory research. To this end, it was applied an interview to the decision makers for supplying of raw material in the mills that represent a group of ten unities located in the west of São Paulo by competing for suppliers and land . It was observed that the characteristics of the transactions locational and temporal specificity, uncertainty and frequency are not determinative for the choice of governance structures, as recommended by the literature of transaction costs. These same characteristics make plants adopt formal mechanisms, provided for in contracts, and informal control transactions. The characteristics of transactions in supply of sugarcane exclude one of the governance structures observed in the literature the spot market but do not determine the uniqueness of others. The results also indicate that the plurality of transactions that serve the same purpose is common in the units studied and is related to the history of these plants, the need to eliminate some uncertainty in the supply and the balance between risks and disadvantages of singular forms. The singular forms, observed in only one case, appeared only as a function of need for financial restructuring of the company. Finally, it was noted that there is a significant diversity of arrangements for the supply of sugarcane in western São Paulo, hampering the framework of the structures observed in this research that was presented in the literature so far.

In this PhD work, the building of a PLD (Pulse Laser Deposition) system was accomplished with resources provided by FAPESP / CEPID / CMDMC, for the purpose of depositing thin films using an 248 nm pulsed excimer laser as external power source. The project presented here demonstrates that this work has the distinction of being a pioneer in Brazil in which says respect to superconducting thin film deposition trough PLD technique. Deposition of YBCO (YBa2Cu3O7-δ) thin films was the process chosen by us to calibrate and test the assembled system, as well as to learn the details of superconducting thin films deposition. The context of this work consists in a historical introduction to the laser deposition technique, comparison of techniques for thin film deposition trough physical methods and a brief review of the superconductivity theory and the theory of thin film growth. In the experimental part, we describe the assembly of the PLD system in detail, as well as we describe the analysis of the principal parameters that say respect to the technique and the fabrication of the targets utilized in the deposition. Finally, we describe the results of the characterization techniques applied to the study of thin films deposited by PLD. X ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and DC magnetic susceptibility measurements were used to analyze the superconducting thin films. Due to it pioneer condition, this work enables the Group of Materials and Devices (GMD - DF / UFSCar) as well as the CMDMC to engage in new research, not only in superconducting materials, but also in the fabrication of devices based on thin films, such as sensors, multi-components heterostructures, RAM memories, electrodes, polymers, biocompatible thin films, the GMR effect, graphene, among others, that can be fabricated precisely and controllably by the PLD technique.

The present research proposes to conduct a study on the field of Sociology of Education as presented in the theses and dissertations available in the CAPES Theses Database from the period from 1987 to 2011, based on bibliometric and scientometric approaches, in order to obtain a theoretical reflection on the field of Sociology of Education in Brazil that unfolds in the identification of: prime research topics in the field of Sociology of Education; aspects of sociological theory; the most influential authors and theoretical frameworks of reference in Sociology of Education. The data source was the CAPES Theses Database with contributions from BDTD/IBICT, the public domain and the digital libraries available for raw text access. The methodology was developed in four phases comprised of: construction of a theoretical reference; data collection in the CAPES Theses Database, BDTD, Public Domain Portal, description and categorization of survey data utilizing automated tools (the software programs Vantage Point and Excel) for the organization of the results obtained and subsequent analysis and interpretation. The chosen design consisted of two studies: Study 1: Bibliometric analysis of dissertations and theses in Sociology of Education with the aim of reporting the state of the art of the scientific production in this area; Study 2: Analysis of reference citations in light of theoretical approaches in Sociology of Education and Information Science, signifying the importance of combining different methodological perspectives to explore the same study object. In Study 1, we present the following results: the production of theses of dissertation occurred at some moments in an oscillating manner, but the increase was gradual throughout the studied period. The works at the Master s level predominated with 71% of the recovered records. With respect to distribution by institution and region, both indicators were found to be concentrated in the southeast region, that is, UFMG, PUC-SP and PUC-RIO were the most frequent institutions confirming the representativeness of this region in the national research. As to the administrative nature of the institutions, the Federal and Private institutions were predominant. The graduate programs that have most researched this topic indicate Education and Sociology given that Sociology of Education is the scientific field that has maintained historic relations with these areas. The most frequent theme is Education, followed by Sociology of Education. The Research Instigating Agencies that fund the most research studies are Capes and CNPq. The studies that did not receive financing correspond to 51% of the total, which indicates that these researchers are participating in the labor market. The female gender is present in 72% of the authorial credits in the dissertations and theses, confirming that women tend to predominate in the Human Sciences. Study 2 corresponds to the analysis of citations of books and chapters appearing in the theses and dissertations. The results show that in relation to the contemporaneousness of sources, the author shave relied on relatively recent literature, which can be explained based on the origin of Sociology of Education that, as a distinct field of Sociology, is relatively new; therefore, production in this area also tends to be new. As to book authorship, national and foreign authorial nuclei were identified. The most cited authors of the national nucleus are Maria Alice Nogueira, Paulo Freire, Florestan Fernandes and Demerval Saviani. The most cited in the foreign nucleus were Pierre Bourdieu, Émile Durkheim, Jean-Claude Passeron, Bernard Lahire and Michel Foucault. The most cited book title was A reproduction: elements for a teaching system theory , authored by Pierre Bourdieu and Jean-Claude Passeron. As to language indicators for the books and chapters, Portuguese predominated in the two sources. The editors of the books and chapters cited indicated Editor Voices as predominant in the most cited publications. In reference to authorship of book chapters, Pierre Bourdieu was the author of the majority of chapters cited. The indicator on authorship of books that integrate the chapters of books identified Maria Alice Nogueira as the most frequent author. The most mentioned chapter title was The conservative school: the inequalities facing the school and the culture, and is authored by Pierre Bourdieu; the books that integrate the book chapters presented the title Escritos de Educação (Writings from Education), organized by Maria Alice Nogueira and Afrânio Catani as the most cited. The data resulting from the three authorship indicators (authorship of books, authorship of chapters and authorship of books that integrate the chapters) constitute the research front found to be identified by 21 authors, 15 of whom are Brazilian and six foreign, that constitute the principle theoreticians and researchers that contribute to the theoretical underpinning that sustains the development of research studies in Sociology of Education in the production of theses and dissertations in Brazil. Through citation analysis, it was highlighted that the bourdieusian approaches are most often utilized as a theoretical referential in Sociology of Education theses and dissertations. The studies presented here in indicate the most influential authors and theoretical frameworks of reference utilized by the authors of theses and dissertations to support their research Sociology of Education and how they configure the national graduates cenario in Brazil.

This thesis aims to analyze the contributions of the Journal of the Institute of History and Geography of São Paulo (RIHGSP) for history of Brazilian education through an analysis of articles published in this journal between 1895 and 2004. The motivation for the study came from the fact that despite the importance of Geographical and Historical Institutes for national historiography, which can be proven by numerous academic studies conducted, there is a gap in the historiography of Brazilian education regarding the use of these journals institutes as primary sources for the history of education. Therefore, this thesis aims to answer the following research question: what are the contributions of RIHGSP for the History of Education in Brazil? The justification for this research is grounded in the understanding that the study of scientific production in the pages of this magazine is relevant to the reconstruction of their own national historiography and to demonstrate the role that information sources play in dissemination of information and the development of the research scientific education. Thus , the main objective of the research was to highlight the contributions of RIHGSP to the historiography of Brazilian education , and the specific objectives were : a) outline a historical overview of Geographical and Historical Institutes in national and world stage standing in this context the History Institute and Geography of São Paulo , b ) describe the main features of the Journal of the Historical and Geographical Institute of São Paulo ( RIHGSP) c ) analyze this scientific production according to bibliometric parameters of authorship, thematic and temporal distribution; d) conduct a content analysis of a selected sample of 20 articles RIHGSP related to the theme of the history of education. From the methodological point of view the research was characterized as an exploratory and descriptive study. The analytical approaches were supported in the bibliometric analysis and content analysis and involved the following steps: literature review, collection, organization and systematization of data and analysis and interpretation of results. Thus, it was possible to obtain scientific evidence to demonstrate that the texts published in RIHGSP, are key to the history and historiography of Brazilian education, because they allow understanding how the literate elite - represented by intellectuals who publish articles in this journal - thought education Brazilian.

Bioluminescent beetles are common for their wide distribution in the world, but the composition of the fauna of these organisms is still unknown to most of the areas where they occur. Brazil is the country with the largest number of cataloged species of bioluminescent insects, but studies of faunal surveys, which allow observing the composition of the assemblies of these insects, with the aim of monitoring impacts in natural areas has only recently been realized. The present study focuses on the artificial night lighting as a possible impact on assemblies of bioluminescent beetles. To the knowledge of the fauna of luminous beetles in the State of São Paulo, surveys were conducted by sampling at three sites of the Atlantic Forest in the SA of Paranapiacaba. The species found were: Aspisoma lineatum, Aspisoma physionotum, Aspisoma sp., Cratomorphus beskei, Cratomorphus giganteus, Photinoides penai, Photinus sp1, Photinus sp9, Ethra aff. malledicta ou axilaris, Ethra aff. adicta, Cladodes demoulini, Cladodes flabelicornis, Amydetes sp., Bicellonycha sp., Bicellonycha sp8, Pyrogaster lunifer, Pyrogaster moestus, Pyrogaster sp3 ref. (PORTO, 2011), Photuris elliptica, Photuris sp1, Photuris sp7 Stenophrixotrix sp1, Brasilocerus sp1, Phrixotrix hirtus, Pseudophengodes sp1, Hapsodrilus pyrotis, Pyroptesis cincticollis, Ptesiomopsia luculenta, Pyrearinus candelarius, Pyrearinus micatus e Pyrophorus divergens. The investigated area in SA Paranapiacaba has the second highest species richness of bioluminescent insects of the state of São Paulo until now. From the cluster analysis was done with the data obtained in the field and published data to categorize areas as more and less urbanized was possible to deduce a dependence relationship between species and area in which they can occur. Like other studies, lower richness of bioluminescent beetles in more urbanized areas was observed, we chose a species to investigate the possible effects of artificial lighting. For the study we used the method of counting grid in two similar areas, where only one had artificial lighting. Was possible to compare the data obtained from the two sites with randomization of the same data through a robust non-parametric test, thereby we verified that the sample populations showed no number of different occurrences, the p value is not significant (t=1,780787, R=5000, P=0,059988). We conclude that Bicellonycha lividipennis is not sensitive to ligth of sodium vapor lamps. So this species is not a good indicator species to light pollution for this type of light source. The bioluminescence spectra and the sodium light were superimposed; a possible explanation for that B. lividipennis is not sensitive to light sodium is the activity of the species which is relatively early when there is still strong lighting of twilight.

This study aimed at analyzing the productive dynamics of the Ibitiúva Rural Settlement (Ibitiúva State Settlement) located in the municipality of Pitangueiras, São Paulo, Brazil, and characterized by a production system based on supplying sugar cane to the processing station from the majority of the settled producers. The work presented the following specific objectives in its investigation: causes which lead the producers to leasing their lands to supply sugar cane to the processing station; history of the producers lives and their perspectives regarding the future of this sugar cane supplying system; alternatives for new sustainable production arrangements for the settled, meeting the environmental, social and economic criteria, from an alternative system based on the diversity of rural production in contrast to sugar cane monoculture, grounded on associative activities between the associates, with the objective of increasing their autonomy in relation to other power instances; insufficiency of municipal public politics focused on the rural settlements by the municipality of Pitangueiras. For a better understanding of this system based on supplying agricultural raw material by the settled for a sugar producing agroindustrial unit, we performed an analysis of general economic context, comprehending the following subjects: the Complexo Rural ao Agroindustrial; Green Revolution; the Agrarian Reform and the formation of settlements in Brazil; Agricultural, Rural and Local Development; and Economic Politics destined to Agriculture. Subsequently, the study analyzed the main characteristics of the Ibitiúva Rural Settlement, highlighting its formation, origin of the settled and its socio-economic characteristics. Furthermore, the study analyzed the conditions in which the food production activities for self-consumption and commercialization are performed, which are secondary in regard to the planting system for supplying the processing station. Finally, the research investigated the main characteristics of this supplying system, highlighting its environmental, social and economic limitations through the contrast represented by their debatable monetary gains for the settled suppliers in contrast to an alternative of agriculture based on food diversity and associative production and commertialization structures.

The work developed by specialized teachers, in Multifunctional Resource Rooms with students of special education is still unknown. The Multifunctional Resource Rooms are being implemented in public schools throughout Brazil. In order to produce knowledge about this topic, we investigated what specialized teachers who work at Multifunctional Resource Rooms publish on their blogs about the work performed in these rooms, and the experiences related to this service. Blogs were chosen as the data source, as blogs allow the common citizen to be a participative witness, in other words, people can publish texts without an editor. In this perspective, the problem of this study is configured from the following questions: Considering the Public Policies are recent, what have the specialized teachers published about specialized educational service on the internet? What is their perception considering this service? Is it possible to find out the practices of these teachers through blogs? This research aimed to describe and analyze through Text Semiotics what teachers who work with special education publish on their personal blogs and how they construct images of themselves and of the multifunctional resource rooms. The specific objectives were (a) identify on the teacher‟s discourse the experiences which have been evidenced in the educational specialized services; (b) analyze how are the practices directed to the issue of inclusive education in Brazilian education, in multifunctional resource rooms. Tem texts written by Brazilian specialized teachers were analyzed from the discursive level of Text Semiotics. The following categories were analyzed: space described in the text; actors and actants , time of enunciation; figures (concrete elements on the text ) and themes (abstract elements inferred from the figures). It was concluded that the image constructed by these teachers is hero and agents of change of multifunctional resource rooms, as this service depends on their actions to work. From the signs which are on the teacher‟s discourse, it is observed that they have internalized the policies discourse, and the teaching work in multifunctional resource rooms is predominantly focused on the student.

Given the importance of conducting research on the period and the interest in the implementation of actions directed to the initial and continuing training and start teaching, we intend, in this study, know and understand the pedagogical practices of a novice teacher of Physical Education and sources that influence the construction of knowledge in the course of his career. Based on this goal, we reflect on the teacher beginner, the characteristics and implications of this period, initial training in Physical Education, the dimensions of the processes of learning and professional development and teacher knowledge. Similarly, we contextualize Physical Education resuming its historical trajectory to provide visibility and understanding of the constitution of the area, we situate the various trends, we present the construction of the concept of body culture, based our education on a full-length, legislation for Physical Education and studies on the teaching of physical education in the early years of elementary school. Subsidized by qualitative research, we developed a case study with a Physical Education teacher in her fourth year of professional experience in the early years in two schools in the school system of the State Secretary of Education of São Paulo (SSE-SP) in Bauru. We conducted observations, interviews, analyzing documents, we characterize the teacher, contextualize schools and present how the analysis axes were constructed. Based on analyzes of the axes "school subject", "nature of practices: organization, reasoning and evaluation", "teachers dilemmas" and "challenges of physical education in school interventions, relationships and perspectives", consider the participant, not as a beginner teacher, but as a teacher of early career by moving between developing practices successful and some conflicts commonly experienced in the period from entry into teaching, evidence that generally are not defined by the literature on the subject. Such practices are based on a contextualized and interdisciplinary teaching perspective, redefines student learning beyond the procedures. The dialogue with the literature, exchanges with peers, courses and previous experiences reveal the intentionality of the actions of participants and their commitment to the students and the training itself. As a result, their practices relate to the characteristics of a good teacher and an experienced teacher and confirmed the need for public policies to understand the teacher as builder and transmitter of knowledge, to take ownership of this knowledge to propose actions to facilitate training and optimize the process of learning and professional development, helping to ease the hardships of his early career. Also, we intuit that this study may contribute to the early reflections essential to systematize guidelines for public policies for initial and continuing training of physical education teachers who work and who will act in the early years of elementary education in the schools of SSE-SP, and concomitantly promote new dialogues on pedagogical practices of teachers of Physical Education beginners.

The quest for sustainable development is becoming more widespread among government, private organizations and members of civil society, motivated primarily by environmental imbalance and social problems. So the companies conceptualize measure and work toward sustainability and it has become the goal of many of these organizations. This research aimed to analyze how large retail supermarkets companies, that have operation in Brazil, measure their practices aimed at sustainable development. It was carried out during the research, a review of theory and the multiple case studies exploratory; it realized the data collection through public documents (Sustainability reports). First, it’s analyzed 32 reports of 3 retail businesses for several years. It was analyzed as indicators of sustainability are reported by companies in the sector, it was also assessed developments in the application of sustainability reporting in retail and sustainability dimension is prioritized in the reporting of organizational management. It observed a non- regular reporting on sustainability in the periods analyzed, companies report a higher number of indicators related social issues and despite the use of the GRI indicators, the companies had different interpretations about the same indicators. Thus, it identified that companies need to improve their reports and using the external validation (audit) to ensure the transparency and quality of sustainable reporting, enabling the retail supermarket companies to act towards a sustainable management.

In Computer Science, ontologies are used for knowledge representation in a number of applications, aiming to structure and handle domain semantics through models shared by humans and computational systems. Although traditional ontologies model semantic information and support reasoning tasks, they are based on a formalism which is less suitable to express the vagueness inherent in real-world phenomena and human language. To address this issue, many proposals investigate how traditional ontologies can be extended by incorporating concepts from fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, resulting in fuzzy ontologies. In special, combining the formalism from fuzzy ontologies with fuzzy rule-based reasoning, which has been successfully applied in the context of fuzzy inference systems, can lead to more expressive inferences involving imprecision. In this sense, this doctoral thesis aims at exploring the integration of fuzzy ontology reasoning with fuzzy inference systems, resulting in the definition and the development of two approaches: HyFOM (Hybrid integration of Fuzzy Ontology and Mamdani reasoning) and FT-FIS (Fuzzy Tableau and Fuzzy Inference System). HyFOM is based on a hybrid architecture combining reasoners for ontologies, fuzzy ontologies and fuzzy inference systems, focusing on the interaction among its independent components. FT-FIS defines an interface between a fuzzy tableau-based algorithm and a fuzzy inference system, including the fuzzyRuleReasoning predicate that allows fuzzy rule-based reasoning to be invoked whenever necessary for fuzzy ontology reasoning tasks. The main contribution of HyFOM and FT-FIS comes from their reasoning architectures, which combine flexibility in terms of fuzzy rule semantics with the collaboration between inferences from both types of reasoning. Experiments regarding the recommendation of touristic attractions, based on synthetic data, revealed that HyFOM and FT-FIS provide integrated inferences, in addition to a more expressive approximation of the relation defined by fuzzy rules than the results from the fuzzyDL reasoner. In experiments involving the evaluation of chemical risk in food samples, based on real data, results obtained by HyFOM and FT-FIS are also more precise than fuzzyDL results, in comparison with reference values available in this domain.

Splints are devices whose function to stabilize, immobilize, prevent and correct deformities and maximizing the function and are currently manufactured in thermoplastic , especially low temperature. Was created a technique for making splints from thermoplastic PVC and high temperature due to the lack of scientific studies of the applicability of PVC for orthosis for the upper limb, proposed a study aiming to meet , compare and analyze aspects concerning the applicability of the materials and wrist splints made of two types of thermoplastics , the high temperature PVC and a low temperature Ezeform ®, commonly used for orthosis . The research involved the analysis of the factors for the use of materials, the analysis of the mechanical properties, thermal and toxicity of both materials and analysis of myoelectric and functional performances of subjects with and without orthoses on functional tests of manual dexterity . It was found that occupational therapists using PVC do this by being accessible in terms of cost of material and using Ezeform, the ease in modeling, PVC has high recyclability, and Ezeform, is more susceptible to deformation; functional performance volunteers with orthotics PVC and Ezeform is hindered significantly; especially with the PVC; the myoelectric activity of the upper fibers of the trapezius increases with both orthoses; especially with Ezeform of the biceps muscle did not change significantly and muscles radial extensor and flexor digitorum superficialis had the myoelectric amplitude decreased when the orthoses used and so that the orthosis with PVC myoelectric activity was lower.

Xylanase and feruloyl esterase (FAE) are two enzymes of great importance for plant biomass decomposition. The hemicellulose, one of the biomass constituents, has a great structural variety, so that for its complete deconstruction, several groups of enzymes are required, including mainly xylanases. These enzymes act on the β-1,4 glycosidic bonds between the xylose residues. Xylanase activity can be enhanced in the presence of esterases, such as feruloyl esterase (FAE), since the latter catalyzes the hydrolysis of linkages which make cell wall structure to be more intricated. Such connections are formed mainly by the ferulic acid esterified to sugar residues attached to the carbohydrate main chain. It is noteworthy that the ferulic acid cross-links to hemicellulose, pectin and lignin structures. Both enzymes are of interest in many sectors, for example, during the saccharification for bioethanol production and bleaching stages of pulp and paper industry. Therefore, this study aimed to select and cultivate filamentous fungi from the Amazon rainforest capable of synthesizing FAE and xylanase, and to evaluate the application of these enzymes in the hydrolysis of sugar cane bagasse. Initially, a screening was conducted on agar plates containing ethyl ferulate. Among eleven fungi tested, seven showed a clear halo around the colony, as indicative of FAE production. Then, the fungi were cultivated in liquid nutrient medium supplemented with 1% wheat bran, and, based on productivity values, three strains of Aspergillus oryzae (P21C3, P6B2 and P27C3) were chosen for cultivation in a stirred tank bioreactor. After 24 hours of cultivation of the P21C3 strain in the bioreactor, it was obtained a crude enzyme extract with 74.85 UI.mL-1 and 47.02 UI.L-1 of xylanase and FAE activity, respectively. This extract was used for the hydrolysis of hydrothermal pretreated sugarcane bagasse with supplementation of a commercial cellulolytic enzyme preparation. These hydrolysis reactions resulted in conversions of 51.2% (cellulose to glucose) and 78.1% (hemicellulose to xylose). Furthermore, the addition of the on-site produced enzyme extract increased the glucose release by 35.8% and the xylose release by 53.8%.

The implementation of the mechanized system of the sugar cane has lead a number of direct and indirect benefits to the sugar cane culminating changes in the productive system, among them, changing the infesting flora and the herbicide dynamic. On account of that, this present paper has as goal to study the emergency aspects and the chemical handling of the weeds species. Merremia aegyptia (L.) Urban (Convolvulaceae); Ipomoea purpurea (L.) Roth (Convolvulaceae); Luffa aegyptiaca Miller (Cucurbitaceae); Mucuna aterrima Piper e Tracy (Fabaceae - Leguminosae) e Ricinus communis (L.) (Euphorbiaceae). It was developed two experiments in the greenhouse of Agricultural Science, Universidade Federal de São Carlos, Araras, SP. The first has studied, isolated, the emergency ability of the weeds in designs entirely randomized in factorial scheme 4 x 5, being analyzed in four amount of straw (0,5,10 and 15t ha), five depths of sowing(0, 2, 4, 8 and 10 cm) with for repetition in soil with clayey texture. The emergency percentage of the plants was evaluated until 21 days after the sowing, when the leaf area was also evaluated (cm2), dry mass (g) and height (cm). The second experiment evaluated after emergency controlling of weeds, through the curves of response with amicarbazone herbicide (1400 g ha-1), saflufenacil (50 g ha-1), mesotrione( 120g ha-1) and sulfentrazone(600g ha-1). The herbicides were administered when the weeds presented until the second pair of real leaves, in doses 1,5 D; 1,0 D; 0, 5 D, 0,25 D e o 0,00 D, where D means a commercial dose of product. The evaluations were made after 7, 14 and 21 days the application of the treatments (DAS) and the dry mass after 21. In relation to the emergency ability, the species analyzed presented different responses on account of the sowing depth and the amount of straw placed on the soil surface. For the species of L. aegyptiaca, I. purpurea, R. communis the sowing that was more supercial resulted in a higher percentagem of emercengy of seedlings, regarding the placement of M. atterima seeds to the 0 cm it has resulted in a less number of seedlings. The L. aegyptiaca, M. aterrima e I. purpurea species had presentend less leaf area, height and dry mass at t he moment the seeds were placed in a supercial way (0cm). In relation to the herbicides administration after emergency condition of the weeds, it has verified that the application of amicarbazone provided levels of controlling to 80% in all the doses administered except de R. communist showing to be efficient on weeds handling. The saflunefacil wasn t efficient on L.aegyptiaca controlling and the mesotrione wasn´t efficient on controlling levels to 80% in all the species and doses used. On account of that we can conclude the species analyzed presented adaptation to the harvesting system without previous burning emerging up to 10cm and 15 t ha-1straw on the soil. The response given by the plants has showed changes, in relation to the chemical handling was observed that different levels of susceptibility of weeds regarding to the herbicides administered after emergency, being more efficient amicarbazone and sulfentrazone.

Health-associated infections (HAI) in non-hospital care is a subject still little explored in literature. Among measures that assist in the prevention and control of HAI is the quality of medical instruments processing which aims to avoid the risks from their use. In order to enable the assessment of medical instruments processing in Primary Health Care (PHC), were adapted and validated quality indicators to assess the practice of medical instruments processing for PHC. Assuming this, it was aimed to diagnose the completeness of the medical instruments processing in PHC health services and assess the usability of the instrument available. This is a study with two arms: the) non-experimental, correlational descriptive and b) methodological study. The hypothesis of this study is that there is difference in the medical instruments processing between Basic Health Units (BHU) and Family Health Centres (FHC). Data collection occurred in the city of São Carlos, in ten health services, selected by convenience. Seven health indicators were applied to evaluate the structure, process and result of that practice. This project was approved by Ethics and Research Committee of UFSCar n° 112,528. The results showed that this activity is a secondary practice in health units observed, because the professionals responsible for this activity are scaled to perform other activities concurrently. There are no records in any health service about medical instruments processing and testing for attesting the effectiveness of the process is not part of routine work. The cleaning process indicator was that had lower overall compliance index (18.18% for BHU and 20.00% for FHC), which deserves attention, given the importance of this step for the subsequent steps. Another point that deserves attention is that literature does not bring standardized information regarding the disinfection of medical instruments, which prevented this component was observed, and therefore suggests an aspect to be studied, so that it can assist professionals responsible for this to carry out disinfection safely for use of medical instruments. Regarding the usability of the indicators, the structure are the most achievable, being followed by the process and result. It should be noted that indicators that require sample are influenced directly by these in terms of implementation time. It is understood the need for studies about this topic on PHC, so that they are established strategies aimed at improving these factors contributing to occupational safety and patient.

In this thesis phosphinic ruthenium complexes coordinated to ligands of biological interest: folic acid, 6-mercaptopurine, 2-mercaptopyridine and 8-aminoquinoline, dpqQX, dppz and dpq (dipyridophenazine and derivatives) mainly, were synthesised from the precursor complexes [RuCl2(PPh3)3], [RuCl2(dppb)(PPh3)] and cis- [RuCl2(dppb)(bipy)] and characterized by the usual techniques: 1H, 31P{1H} and 13C{1H}, IR, UV-Vis, molar conductimetry, elemental analysis, cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry, mass spectrometry and X ray diffraction of single crystal when applicable. The synthesized complexes showed values of E1/2 larger than their corresponding precursors, and in the case of complexes with folic acid presented irreversibility in the oxidation of ruthenium. Molar conductance measurements and elemental analysis corroborated the proposed formulae and the study of crystals solved by X ray diffraction confirmed the expected structures. The complexes (series I-III) were evaluated in vitro against MDA-MB-231 and MCF7 breast cancer cell beyond in mouse fibroblast cells. The Ru-FO complexes (series I) has been activity against breast cancer cells MDA-MB-231, suggesting that small structural modifications presented variation in cytotoxic activity. The ruthenium complexes coordinated to dpqQX, dppz and dpq ligands (series II) were very active and selective against breast cancer cells studied. Studies of their Interaction with ct-DNA confirmed the existence of interaction by intercalation mainly of these complexes (series II).

Let M be a closed smooth manifold and T : M ! M be an C1 involution defined on M. It is known that if F is the set of fixed points of T, then it is a finite union of closed submanifolds of M. Given F, a problem in this context is the classification, up to equivariant cobordism, of pairs (M; T) for which the fixed point set is F. In this work we performe the classification, up to equivariant cobordism, of Zk 2 -actions (Mn;Φ) fixing F with F being one of the following: F = KP2n [ KP2m+1; F = KP2n+1 [ KP2m+1 , where KP is the real, complex or quaternionic projective space. We also perform the classification, up to equivariant cobordism, of Z2 2-action whose fixed point set is KdP2n [ K2m+1 e and d < e, where KjP, j = 1; 2; 4 are respectively the real RP, complex CP and quaternionic HP projective spaces. Given that in this case appeared exotic actions, was important that the improvements that we made from the result of Pedro Pergher done in Theorem 3.4.1, which allowed us to obtain such classification.
