In recent years, in response to the pressures of society, the organizations are increasingly implementing sustainability practices. Following this context, this study aims to investigate empirically the changes in PM systems caused by the implementation of sustainability practices in organizations. The bibliometric studies and systematic literature review have showed that there is no clear relationship between the research on sustainability and PM systems. Hence, it is necessary to develop more empirical studies to close the identified gap. In the first research effort of this thesis, a case study was carried out in a company which is ranked as sustainability company in Brazil index. The empirical findings indicate that the PM system changes have occurred in three elements: performance measures, how the companies communicate their results, and the process of information management. These findings were the foundation for developing the survey, the second research effort. The survey was carried out in a population of 182 companies which publish sustainability reports in Brazil, according to the Global Reporting Initiative standards . After the data collection, 81 valid responses were received. The data analyzes demonstrate that the respondents who perceived change in PM systems work in companies which has more implemented environmental practices. Additionally, this perception is influenced by PM systems variables: use of social indicators, the relevance of social/environmental indicators, the new social/environmental performance indicators, the internal communication among all hierarchical classes of roles, the external communication to several groups of stakeholders, the use of benchmarking, the compliance with regulations issues, the information provided from PM system about social/environmental performance measures and the interpretation of the social/environmental performance indicator results. Therefore, the sustainability practices have acted as triggers for changes in performance measurement systems.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Entre outros : uma análise da transformação ritual entre os Kagwahiva(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-10-30) Bertolin, Gabriel Garcêz; Peggion, Edmundo Antonio; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9849805103860827; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9615415333096238As an outcome of the ethnography carried through among the Tenharim - a kagwahiva group from the Madeira river basin in Southern Amazon Rainforest - this dissertation's major point is the Mboatawa, a feast that takes place annually between June and August, and the ritual transformations. This work is, hence, an ethnography of the ritual metamorphosis triggered by two distinct aerophones called Yreru and Yrua, as well as the singing of the elders. Through these expressive elements present in the Mboatawa and the approach to the tenharim landscape, I develop an assay of the temporality emerged from the alterations provoked by the feast and the inherent transformation in their topography. However, the Mboatawa is not restrict to the expressive forms, but also to other domains, such as the chieftainship and Mutum (Myty-Nygwera) and the system of moieties Taravé (Kwandu).listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Estudo da viabilidade do uso de métodos de segunda ordem e RMN na elaboração de fingerprint de bauhinia forficata baseado em seu extrato bruto(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-10-30) Assis, Priscylla Rodrigues; Carneiro, Renato Lajarim; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8065852319463976; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9916189884036734Given the large number of species of Bauhinia and great morphological similarity between them, it is necessary the development of robust analytical techniques in quality control of plants used as herbal medicines, since it is difficult to achieve the desired effects when using a different species as is the case of plant studied. Therefore, this study aimed to identify similarities between commercial preparations and the standard sample Bauhinia forficata Link. Obtained crude extracts of commercial samples and standard sample using different extracting phases. The extracts were analyzed using the technique of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and principal component analysis (PCA) used for extraction and interpretation of the data obtained. As a result, we found that the extracting phases hexane, methanol and methanol / water, generated the most varied spectral profiles. Visual analysis of the samples suggests that there are at least four different samples in the data set. Moreover, by analyzing PCA can be concluded that all the samples are different from the standard sample. However, it is not possible to say whether or not the samples belong to the same species, since external causes as time and storage temperature, can cause chemical variability that are modeled by the PCA and thus further studies should be conducted in order to classify them. To do this we studied the feasibility of using second-order methods such as PARAFAC and MCR. The characteristics data didn t accord the requirements for use of these methods, such as trilinearity, blocking its application.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, The role of procurement in creating supply chain resilience(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-10-30) Pereira, Carla Roberta; Silva, Andrea Lago da; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6148011136943940Achieving resilience along the supply chain in today's turbulent business environment requires efforts from both internal and external elements of the company. Because Procurement is currently considered a boundary spanning function, it has become a primary facilitator in helping to create supply chain resilience. The purpose of this study is therefore to understand the role of Procurement in managing the intra- and inter-organisational issues needed to create supply chain resilience. To do so, a literature review was developed by following the systematic literature review method in which intra- and inter-organisational issues that could impact supply chain resilience were identified. These issues were grouped into eight general topics: knowledge acquired, inventory, product and technology for intraorganisational issues; and strategic sourcing, supply chain design, transportation and risk for inter-organisational issues. Dynamic capability (DC) view was also reviewed to offer a deeper analysis and fresh perspective on the empirical results. A multiple case study was conducted in four focal companies from different sectors, including two key suppliers from each one. After all interviews were transcribed, the data was added to the QDA Miner software in order to conduct a content analysis of within-cases and, subsequently, cross-case analysis. Following the theory elaboration defined by Ketokivi and Choi (2014), propositions were developed based on the empirical and theoretical findings through the rationale of the dynamic capability view. As a result, procurement structure and external inventory were found as additional organisational issues, and a new rationale is proposed to explain how Procurement can create supply chain resilience through dynamically managing and controlling the identified organisational issues. The primary theoretical contribution of this research is applying a new perspective to the issue of resilience. The development of these capabilities may help Procurement managers to better cope with current critical supply disruptions and hence help to achieve company survival and competitiveness.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, No território da criação artística: a jornada de Tempestade, de Cesar Cabral(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-10-30) Lima, Daniela Ramos de; Monzani, Josette Maria Alves de Souza; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0505156751073470; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1008512070101673This research analyses the artistic creation process of a short animation film called the Tempest. Created in 2010, by Brasilian director Cesar Cabral at the Coala Film Studios (Santo André, São Paulo). The audiovisual production was shown at the 14th. Festival of English Culture. The narrative tells the fable of a lonely and passionate sailor confronting a storm. The creative procedural critique is basis of the methodology used in this research. It follows, step by step the creation and consequently the different manuscripts and ideas of a creative body whose understanding of the key elements produced different results. Through study of sketches, art direction layouts, still photographs, interviews with creators and annotations in different languages. Also included are tests and trials of the software used for editing. Without prior assumptions, the object of this work is to indicate and discuss the intersemiotic translations which constitute the Tempest and the contributions and dialogues established between the creators of the animation. The results were planned in graphical form to show the significant and possible meanings of the work under study.
