This monograph pertains to the area of Librarianship known as “Studies of Users and Uses”, an area which focuses in studying and evaluating the uses and users of all kinds of libraries and information and services centers. In this manner, the study reported here had as its main goal to map the perception that the users of a university library have of its services. More specifically it aimed to identify the library users’ profile; to determine the knowledge and concepts the user has in relation to these products and services and to map the general view that they have of the library as a whole. The methodological instruments adopted were bibliographical research; documental research and the use of an electronic data collection instrument sent by e-mail to the whole academic community to identify frequency, type of reading, service evaluation, library collection, space/ physical structure evaluation and product/ services evaluation. After collecting data, the information went through a process of tabulation and simple statistical analysis to better interpret and present these results. It can be said that the proposal was realistic and all the objectives were achieved, and that this work ended up being a tool of approximation between users and the library, and collecting answers regarding their perception about the mentioned topics. This project aimed to identify in the results of this study the needs and priorities for possible improvements to the products and services of the library, that is, it hoped to inform the professional practice, turning it into a more evidence-based practice.

The process of building the knowledge base of fuzzy systems has benefited extensively of methods to automatically extract the necessary knowledge from data sets that represent examples of the problem. Among the topics investigated in the most recent research is the matter of balance between accuracy and interpretability, which has been addressed by means of multi-objective genetiv algorithms, NSGA-II being on of the most popular. In this scope, we identified the need to control the diversity of solutions found by these algorithms, so that each solution would balance the Pareto frontier with respect to the goals optimized by the multi-objective genetic algorithm. In this PhD thesis a multi-objective genetic algorithm, named NSGA-DO, is proposed. It is able to find non dominated solutions that balance the Pareto frontier with respect optimization of the objectives. The main characteristicof NSGA-DO is the distance oriented selection of solutions. Once the Pareto frontier is found, the algorithm uses the locations of the solutions in the frontier to find the best distribution of solutions. As for the validation of the proposal, NSGA-DO was applied to a methodology for the generation of fuzzy knowledge bases. Experiments show the superiority of NSGADO when compared to NSGA-II in all three issues analyzed: dispersion, accuracy and interpretability.

The perspective of this work was to understand the culture as an opening way to alterity in the process of identity construction of a socially organized group, reflecting from the philosophy of Mikhail Bakhtin and the Circle as this sphere, in general, acts as a point against the formation of words and dialogues. The attention turned to the festivities and popular demonstrations that insert in Pernambuco's popular culture, specifically in the carnivalesque cycle, the attempt to delineate a scope of relations and permanent vehicles and reflected in everyday life that build a (dis)order in the aesthetic of popular culture of Recife s carnival. Thereby, the overall objective of this work is to reflect how images of grotesque realism incarnate in bodies and form this ambivalent aesthetics through which citizens can experience their freedoms and build accountable acts inside and outside of the official days of Momo s revelry It was point of interest of this research the ways in which such manifestations to embody a grotesque corporeality in their practices break social hierarchies to put in interaction and discourse game the various classes that take part in them, sketching out a popular culture that is based on human interactions infringement and in the establishment of responsible acts of loveliness. As a starting point for understanding it was highlighted the frevo, rhythm transformed over the years into an ideological symbol of Pernambuco s identity, to understand it in relation to other events such as Boi de Carnaval, Maracatu, Urso de Carnaval and the Galo da Madrugada. The methodological line that leads the strength of this work was due to the experience of the party from an ethnographic point of view, in order to single out all its phenomena in the existence of life, to understand it among a dialogical readback process of texts in various materialities, organized in secondary speech genres that function as the meeting place of ethics and aesthetics. We conclude that the carnivalesque popular culture cycle has in its grotesque aesthetic the attribute that allows revelers to experience their freedoms on feast days, taking the street and turning it into transgressions stage. The participation and inclusion in the popular universe was essential to conclude that the understanding of culture in the life through the materialized word in texts can only become productive if done in an exotopic perspective, however, participative perspective; otherwise it loses all the wealth and dynamism of responsible acts of man interacting with their fellowmen, turning them into abstraction.

This research aimed at investigating the device called " overnight-stay " in moment of crisis the user of alcohol and other drugs , in the context of a Psychosocial Care Center Alcohol and Drugs 24 ( CAPS ad III ) , in Campinas SP . It was intended to characterize the users who occupied overnight-stay according to demographic data, data on the use of psychoactive substances, data relating to the commencement CAPSad III as well as characterize the bed occupancy rates and indications of the team for their use. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study (April / 2012 to March / 2013), using research roadmap and documentary record data from four sources: medical records, insertion records in overnight-stay, books and bank shift changes data team. As a complementary source of information we used interview with service managers. Data were organized and analyzed from a computerized database using the Excel program. The research pointed out that the bed night shelter was occupied by 167 users 315 times, most males (77,25%), single (46,11%), aged between 31 and 40 (36,53%), incomplete elementary education (40,12%), unemployed (51,50%) and living with a family member (50,30%) . The demand for treatment was mainly due to the use of multiple drugs (53, 89%), especially if alcohol linked to another substance, followed by the exclusive use of alcohol (39,52%). Most cases (81,43%) had a comorbidity, particularly psychiatric (51,23 %). The length of enrollment in CAPSadII patients for 6 months (36,53%) and equipment for emergency care were the services most have referred users (30,43%). Among the indications for insertion into overnight-stay, include the promotion of abstinence (34, 85%), psychiatric stabilization (21,08%) and the need for protected environment (20,64%). Changes in mental examination were significant (66, 67%), especially mood changes (29, 97%) and insomnia (22, 67%). Significant portions of users were on the streets (34,13%) which requires other joints and need of supporting this vulnerable population. The logic of overnight-stay occupancy rates and indications of the team for their use were characterized. The overnightstay in CAPSad III , is seen as an opportunity to expand attention to the crisis the user of alcohol and other drugs in the anti-asylum logic , as they allow the regulation and care of the team. His newly deployment within the network of care to the user of alcohol and other drugs brings relevance to this investigation given the fact that it can contribute to a better understanding and characterization as well as for actiong planning.
