Atitudes ante as práticas linguísticas na fronteira entre Argentina e Brasil: o portunhol de Misiones

Este trabajo tiene como principal objetivo identificar y comprender, desde una perspectiva sociolingüística, las actitudes hacia el “portuñol” que se utilizan en la provincia argentina de Misiones. Para ello, se expondrán posibles definiciones del término “portuñol”, de manera a que se pueda llegar al lugar acorde con el contexto fronterizo en el que se hace este uso y que será parte del eje temático del presente trabajo. Realizado este mapeo socio-histórico de la provincia y dada una definición del término utilizado en esta investigación, se propondrán los estudios de las actitudes lingüísticas de Ralph Fasold (1996) y sus modelos investigativos, además de su apoyo teórico que contribuirá a una propuesta de diagnóstico sobre el funcionamiento de estos fenómenos en un contexto social de intercambios culturales y lingüísticos: la zona fronteriza. Las actitudes lingüísticas se dirigen a este contexto fronterizo con el fin de identificar el comportamiento de la sociedad misionera ante un uso que, según estudiosos de la lengua, como Amable (2012) y Elizaicín, Behares & Barrios (1993), tiene su origen lingüístico brasileño.
Tradução e adaptação da quality of life scales for nursing home residents para o contexto brasileiro

The Homes for the Aged may influence the quality of life (QOL) of the patients. However, there is a paucity of literature on specific instruments that assess the quality of life of older people in these contexts. The aim of this study was to culturally adapt the instrument Quality of Life Scales for Nursing Home Residents for the brazilian context. The scale has 54 items in total and includes eleven domains answered in the form of Likert scale and is used to assess the social and psychological aspects of QOL of patients. It is a methodological research, which followed the steps described in the literature on translation and adaptation of instruments: translation; synthesis of translations; back translation; review by a committee of judges and pretesting. The initial translation was developed by two independent qualified translators who investigated and corrected errors of interpretations and of ambiguous terms in the original language. Both translators and researchers conducted a synthesis of the results of the translations. In the back translation, the consensual translated version of the instrument was again passed into the original language (American English). In the next step, a review by a committee of judges aimed to produce a final version, modified and adapted after review and comparison of all translations performed. Likert scale was used for each item of the scale and calculated the Content Validity Index (CVI) in order to produce the final version and adapted. Items that had Validity Index (CVI) of 0.80 were reviewed again by experts. In the last step, the pre-test, the instrument was administered to 15 elderly patients in Homes for the Aged in order to confirm understanding, clarity of all questions in this sample. This step was developed in long-stay institutions for the elderly in a city in the state of São Paulo, in 2013. The Quality of Life Scales for Nursing Home Residents was translated and adapted to the brazilian context. The application of the instrument through the sample of institutionalized elderly showed clarity and understanding of all the items of the instrument.
Educação jesuítica; século XVII: Alexandre de Gusmão e o Seminário de Belém da Cachoeira

The present PHD thesis is intended to understand the formal aspects of colonial society. In this sense, Alexandre of Gusmão appears in this survey as a man whose ability to pedagogical application manifested in the founding of the Seminary of the Belém of Cachoeira. But for he found the Seminar there was an influence, an inspiration that led to this project. Starting from the Council of Trent and understanding as Alexandre of Gusmão sought the Founder of the Society of Jesus (Ignasio of Loyola) and jesuit intellectual enthusiasm for the project, unveils a tangle of strands, which enables the analysis not only of Alexandre of Gusmão, but of all the colonial context. Thus, we understand that Alexandre of Gusmão is a product of the educational constitution that has occurred in Brazilian lands; history of pedagogy that firm by the numbers of colleges founded by the jesuits relation with the metropolis. As the jesuits cultivated Luso-European Culture, by way of rationalizing the world, how come a pedagogical possibilities of application in the documents guided the Society of Jesus. Anyway, not only the intellectuals of the Society of Jesus, but the documents, the Ratio Studiorum and the Constitutions of the Society of Jesus, inspired Alexandre of Gusmão which adopts and creates, along with Manuel Correia As Regras do Seminário de Belém da Cachoeira forming the basis of a statute that would be applied by Alexandre of Gusmão to educate boys in Brasílica Colony. His whole way of seeing the school world, the rules for students, teacher, functionary, hours of visits, vacations and recreation, religious ritual, masses, reflection, etc, lead to practice good manners.
Retornos à educação: uma análise da redução do diferencial salarial por anos de estudo no Brasil no período de 2001 a 2012

The present study aims to analyze the reduction of the wage differential by schooling in Brazil between 2001 and 2012, using the PNAD data. Although the positive relation betwee n years of schooling and earnings in the labor m arket persists, recent research on Brazilian show s that wage differentials by schooling have been falling during the past decade. Factors such as the enrollment increase in higher education (not always with q uality), and the market’s absorption of students with low productivity – or even a combination of these factors – may explain the wage differential fall. The study’s hypothesis is that the low quality of Brazilian education offers low skilled labors to the market, resulting in low productivity and lower wages even with a diploma. Using the Oaxaca - Blinder decomposition , the recent fall i n the wage differentials has been proven , as well as the returns to education. One can conclude that th e wage differentials by years of schooling in Brazil can be explained by productivity differentials, however it is not possible to identify the relationshi p between educational quality and labor productivity since the mean wages increased during the analyzed years. Therefore, the hypothesis of this study can only be partly confirmed.
Sistema de auxílio à navegação para portadores de deficiência visual

Aid to navigation systems can be used to help the visually impaired to perform daily tasks, such as their mobility and orientation. The objective of this project is to develop a prototype of an aid to navigation system for visually impaired people in indoors environments. The system has video sensors that detect obstacles ahead and markers containing points of interest that may be useful to the user, as doors and stairs. The methodology of this work involves selecting tools, computer vision techniques and digital image processing that may be useful to implement a prototype to validate the proposed work. As a result, a prototype was created that detects obstacles in real-time as well as points of interest.
