Distillation is one of the most important industrial separation techniques. It requires high quantity of energy, corresponding to around 40% of the total energy consumption of chemical industries. As such, the optimization of a distillation column is indispensable, and it is only possible from the knowledge of the fluid dynamics phenomena occurring within the column. Some of models used for this, such as the models based on equilibrium and non-equilibrium stage concepts, usually provide useful results, but consider empirically many of the fluid dynamics phenomena by assuming a perfect mixture in each phase. In recent years, the advent of the high-speed computers combined with the development of accurate numerical methods for solving physical problems has revolutionized the way we deal with fluid dynamics phenomena. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques allow a microscopic description of the physical characteristics of the fluid motion. The main purpose of this study was develop a computational fluid dynamics model for gas-liquid flows that was able to predict the hydrodynamics and mass transfer on a sieve tray. A two-phase, three-dimensional and transient model, in an Eulerian-Eulerian framework was proposed for air/water (25°C) and ethanol/water systems at 1 atm. The continuity, momentum and mass equations were used to describe the gas and liquid phases. The sieve tray geometry simulated was based on experimental work of Solari e Bell (1986). The variables predicted were the velocity profiles, volume fraction of each phase, clear liquid height, recirculation areas, mass fraction and efficiency. The hydrodynamic and mass transfer model predictions were compared with experimental and numerical data from some authors and presented good agreement. This study shows that CFD can be used as a powerful tool for sieve tray simulation.

The 1940s is marked by a significant interest in the history of the portuguese language providing for themselves the moment of eruption of the Brazilian linguistic. Although there were already before this period of study, many studies seeking to understand and investigate the language in Brazil especially from the viewpoints grammatical, historical and dialetological and textual criticism, is the publication of Principles of General Linguistics in 1941, of Joaquim Mattoso Câmara Jr., a paradigm shift was seen in the Brazilian language of history and its moment of eruption in this scenario. This work would, strictly speaking, the transition between a traditional linguistic and modern (structural). Over the past few years, such studies in Brazil have grown a lot, we can say that came out of complete anonymity with Mattoso of pioneering work and they arrived, in 2015, as one of the most prolific Brazilian science, given the large number of presentations and publications work relevant events and magazines in the area in Brazil and abroad. The Brazilian linguistic also has little research, especially in the context of discourse studies, seeking to explain the history. Thus, this final work, we aim to investigate the event of reception Course of General Linguistics (CLG) in three Brazilian linguistics manuals: Princípios de Linguística Geral, of Mattoso Câmara Jr.; Fundamentos da Linguística Contemporânea, of Edward Lopes and; finally, Para Compreender Saussure, of Castelar de Carvalho, considering as an object of reflection the concepts of language and speech. Therefore, we anchor our work in theoretical and methodological assumptions of the french orientation of Discourse Analysis. We mobilized, more specifically, the contributions of Jacques Guilhaumou (2009) with respect to event concepts and discursive event of the narrative. We attend a corpus consisting of linguistic manuals published in Brazil from the forties of the last century, seeking to explain and / or didactic of the CLG. We seek to investigate the role that such textbooks assume from the interpretation of the reading of Saussure's Course, contributing in this way to a discursive elucidation of historical paths, beside, how they pass or passed the linguistic practiced in Brazil, as well as analyze the different effects directions created from different narratives produced.

The Post-Graduation system in Brazil is a strategical factor to the socioeconomic and cultural development process of brazilian society, marched by a strict evaluation process and recognition of the Post-Graduation Program (PGP) by the national and international scientific community. The evaluation process stands in this system managed by "Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)" and besides the initiatives of CAPES in endow the country with an efficient database about the situation and evolution of Post-Graduation, there is a underutilization of information by the factors involved on National Post-Graduation System (NPGS) due to form and volume of available data. The general object of this own paper work is the elaboration and review of indicators based on data of NPGS present on Indicators Notebooks of Courses Recommended and Recognized by CAPES, in area of Engineering II. The method used was the exploratory case study and the case unity was the knowledge area from CAPES Engineering II: subarea Materials Engineering and Metallurgic. Collected the data from Notebooks of Bibliographic Production of PGP on area as a documental strategy. Also, was used bibliometrics as technique of information analysis to the elaboration of Bibliometrics Indicators with the support of Software VantagePoint. As results was elaborated and reviewed the indicators of scientific production from PGP: collaboration between the PGP, the evolution of publications, the representativeness of PGP, ranking of periodic and main areas of knowledge. It concludes that the Indicators Notebooks by CAPES consolidate a national source of information, public and with easy access of scientific production national that enables the construction of suitable indicators to decision making process ordering improvement of PGP and the public politics of C&T.

The Doctor-Patient Relationship has been identified as an important variable in Health Care’s adherence, efficiency, and effectiveness; The Doctor’s Social Skills, seem to be essential components in its establishment. The general aim of this study was to evaluate doctors’ social skills who works in social and private health systems, examining the relations between these skills and patient satisfaction with regard to the medical consultation. The Study 1 describes the Matched-Pair Instrument (MPI)’s translation and cultural adaptation; the instrument assesses doctor’s social skills during a consultation. Nineteen (19) individuals were involved in the translation and adaptation process. Psychometric analyzes showed satisfactory internal consistency for the patients version (Cronbach's alpha: α= 0,893), presenting similar properties to the original version. The Study 2 aimed to evaluate the social skills of doctors in both Social and Private Health System, considering the self-perception of the professional and the patient’s perceptions, and, examining how the interaction of these variables influence on patient satisfaction. The participants were 195 patients and 30 physicians, distributed in both health systems. The instruments used in the study were: the translated and validated version of the Matched-Pair Instrument (MPI), a Partial Version of the Social Skills Inventory (HIS-Del-Prette), and the Medical Care’s Patient Satisfaction Evaluation Questionnaire (QASPAM). The overall average scores in the MPI for both Patients (M = 77.5, SD = 12.3) and Physicians (M = 76.5, SD = 11.8) showed low, positive and statistically significant correlation (r = 0.16, p = 0.030); The Patients showed significantly higher ratings than the Doctors’ one. The professionals of social health system evaluated themselves as less skilled (M=69,93; SD=13,55) than the participants of private system (M=76,5; SD = 10.1). These data were similar to those obtained in the analysis of the patient’s questionnaires, since the overall average of public system patients (M=72.31; SD= 12.25) was significantly lower than the average of the private system (M=80.80; SD= 10.59). The professionals who worked in both health systems rated themselves, and were rated by their patients, as significantly (p <0.000) more skilled in the private system consultation than in the social one. Patients showed satisfaction with the service offered in both social and private health systems; however, private attended patients presented higher satisfaction’ scores. The scores levels of discontentment in the socials’s attended patients were relatively higher than those of the private system, especially in the following items: The Waiting Time in the office, before the consultation; the duration of the medical consultation and Medical Sensitivity. Future research have been suggested to increase the validity of the instruments used for the investigation. The results of this study seem to show that physicians who work in the private service evaluated up and received more satisfactory evaluations of their patients, in relation to social skills and satisfaction with care, than those who work in the public service. The data obtained in this study emphasized the relevance of both evaluation and training social skills for health professionals.

Discursos do sucesso: a produção de sujeitos e sentidos do sucesso no Brasil contemporâneo
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2015-02-19) Soares, Thiago Barbosa; Piovezani Filho, Carlos Félix; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1677609008094603; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8919327601287308
This study analyzes the discourse on the success produced in contemporary Brazilian society. The corpus consists of editions of the magazine Caras and arising from the self-help literature books. More precisely, our research aims to describe and interpret the success of senses and subjects production process, to the extent that this is built by discursive practices of media and self-help literature, considering the fact that these discursive fields are privileged place of establishment of new subjectivities and new desires. Thus, this research aims to: 1) understand the meanings and the subjects produced among media, more specifically, in the magazine "Faces" in the issues of the first half of 2013, focusing on language resources, enunciative and textual employed in discursive constitution its publications, seeking to infer its recurrence in the production of certain effects of sense of success and their relationship with the interlocutors; 2) understand the meanings and subjects made in self-help literature, filigree, books whose titles are O sucesso está no equilíbrio (2006), O sucesso passo a passo (2010) and O sucesso de amanhã começa hoje (2005), in order to interpret their operating modes as tutorials to rise to success; 3) analyze the relationship of differences and similarities between the senses and subject these two forms of (re) production and spread of successful speech. Thus, we consider the postulate of speech analysis of formulated as follows by Orlandi (2012, 88 p.): subject and constitute sense while being identification processes based on the fact that a movement identity is history . If the subject and the senses are simultaneously at the meeting of the tongue with history, this meaning, speech, subjects and meanings of success will also be produced by speech. Before this situation, we propose in this dissertation expose a brief investigation of the senses on the speech of success in the current Brazilian society. Therefore, the methodological procedures used in the development of this work are based on qualitative research, the development of which we seek to identify linguistic-discursive regularities of statements of success and interpret the production of its subjects and senses through the development of parafrastics chains in order to infer its discursive formations.

This dissertation aims to investigate the medicalization device (dispositif) of children and teenagers inside the Brazilian public school (elementary to high school) in order to understand which effects have been produced in their subjectivities and their treatment, school and familiar history. We have used in this research the category named ?inconvenient? to speak of children and teenagers: those who do not learn what the school and the society want them to do but they can learn inside the school what this one does not expect them to do, i.e., they break the school discipline and the established order; they do not adapt themselves to the hegemonic models; they differ from what is expected, and therefore they are the abnormal and are deviant in relation to the existing rules. Discussing about medicalization is to talk about the way the management of life in all its instances has been built, it is to think of a dispositif that operates through the biopowers and produces biopotency. This research was performed in two moments, one quantitative approach and another, qualitative one. At first, we established the diagnoses of children and teenagers who were seen at the Mental Health Service system whose reports were taken from the diagnoses study found in the database of this health service. Subsequently, the main diagnoses of children and teenagers were identified related to the school complaints, according to the age and gender. From the descriptive analysis of the data, that is, from the diagnoses identified, we have found as a meaningful datum, the diagnosis of a disorder of school skills (F81) in a great proportion in the ages between 8-12 and 13-17 years-old. However, in the ages between 18-22 years-old, this diagnosis decreased and got a significant proportion in the diagnosis of Mental Retardation (F70). Hence, we have discussed that these provisional diagnoses in ..

This research is in the context of Brazilian historic farms that were responsible, especially at national economic development from the cultivation of coffee between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. Different research groups have come together to develop and implement a methodology for cataloging and inventory cultural property of these farms making them available in a free software called Virtual Memory (VM). The VM is a system developed on an open source platform under GPL (General Public License), and allows you to store different types of historical collections, whether bibliographic, museum, archives, architectural and natural in a single database. It was initially developed by Science course researchers Computing, University of São Paulo (ICMC / USP), on the campus of São Carlos - SP, with its prototype ready for testing. Currently these surveys were concentrated in the project "Criteria and methodologies for carrying out the São Paulo cultural heritage inventories", supported by FAPESP. One of the results of this project was the development of a Standard Description Information (SDI) that supports the provision of content on VM. With this approach the following specific objectives were established: Compose a descriptive mapping of the studies developed in the Brazilian Information science concerning the development of concepts, theories, methods and tools focused on description, organization and representation of the National Rural Heritage. Recover, detail and describe the procedures already developed in earlier research, focused on the collection of words related to Paulista Rural Heritage. Specifically consider international standards for Organization and Retrieval in Information Science among them the ANSI / NISO Z39.19-2005. Develop an introductory structure of taxonomy, to be incorporated into the VM as a resource for indexing of cultural goods which are likely to be registered, listed. As a result, an initial structure was built in 3639 with taxonomy terms, hierarchically structured and with signs of use. The largest order related to the development of this memory environment ranges from the preservation of references of tangible and intangible heritage of Brazilian historic farms to the systematization of information that can improve the formulation of public policies for heritage education, and in this sense, any tool that allow optimize the recovery processes of information about cultural property, are welcome.
