In severe and deep injuries, the wound healing process is complex and requires the participation of different types of cells. Among the existing treatments, biomaterials and LLLT are highlighted for having properties that favor and stimulate the healing process. Thus, three studies were conducted to evaluate the effects of bacterial cellulose membranes in its pure state or enriched with lidocaine and LLLT (660 nm) in two different fluences (12.5J/cm2 and 25J/cm2) used independently or associated, on third-degree burns in rats. The burn was induced with an aluminum plate at 150°C, pressed onto the animal's back for 10 seconds. In the first study the action of bacterial cellulose membrane in its pure state and enriched with lidocaine, as biological dressings was evaluated. Therefore, the rats were divided in three experimental groups, CG (control group), MG (group treated with the pure bacterial cellulose membrane), and MLG (group treated with the bacterial cellulose membrane with lidocaine). The treated groups showed an advanced wound healing when compared to the control group. In the immunohystochemical analysis of COX-2, the treated groups showed a light immunoexpression, with the characteristics of repaired tissue. Thus, bacterial cellulose-based biological dressings were effective and provided a favorable environment for the development of the healing process. In the second study, the effects of LLLT with two different fluences (12.5J/cm2 and 25J/cm2) in three experimental groups, divided into CG (control group), LG12.5 (burning treated group 12.5 J/cm2) and LG25 (burn group treated with 25 J/cm2) were evaluated. The animals received laser application immediately after the induction of the lesion and the subsequent doses 2, 4, 6 and 8 days after the induction, at five different points, four on the edges of the wound and one in the central region. The LG25 had better results, with higher number of blood vessels, increased immunoexpression of VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) and decreased immunoexpression of COX-2 (Cyclooxygenase-2) when compared to CG and GL12.5 groups. The LG12.5 showed the longest delay in the progression of the healing process, due to its intense inflammation and tissue fibrosis when compared to CG and LG25. In the third study the association of pure bacterial cellulose membrane and LLLT (660 nm, 25 J/cm2) was investigated. Four groups were evaluated, CG (control group), MG (burn group treated with pure bacterial cellulose membrane), LG (burn group treated with laser 25 J/cm2) and MG + L (burn group treated with bacterial cellulose membrane + LLLT). Histological findings demonstrated that the treated group showed better results in the healing process. The (GM + L) showed results similar to those found in the GL, evidencing the stimulatory effects of angiogenesis provided by the laser light. GM showed improvement in the healing process, indicating the proliferative phase. However, although LLLT presented the expected proinflam matory effects, which modulate the inflammatory phase and favor tissue regeneration, the isolated action of the bacterial cellulose membrane proved to be advantageous by presenting tissue characteristics, which are compatible with a more advanced phase of the healing process.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A interculturalidade no ensino de línguas estrangeiras: problematizando o termo competência comunicativa intercultural(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2015-10-29) Paiva, Aline Fraiha; Viana, Nelson; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6252579012192711; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9268742377116759The term interculturality is increasingly in evidence in the studies focusing mainly on the educational, political, economic and social contexts. Therefore, also in the field of foreign language teaching and learning, there are many works based on intercultural issues (Byram, 2000; Fantini, 2000; Mendes, 2004). However, it is possible to identify different approaches, and one of them which often stands out in discussions of the area is related to intercultural (communicative) competence. In this work we aim to develop a reflection on the relationship between the terms communicative competence and interculturality, in order to understand the potential uses of the term intercultural (communicative) competence and its implications, and to identify possible referrals for understanding the term interculturality in context of language teaching and learning. This Applied Linguistics research is characterized as a bibliographical, interdisciplinary and qualitative-interpretative based study. Through this research, we could understand more deeply ideas as competence, intercultural (communicative) competence and interculturality, and we have critically approached the relationship that has been established between these terms in the field of foreign language teaching and learning, especially in the context of Portuguese as a foreign/ second language. We believe that the discussions that bring out the notion of interculturality are symptoms of a society that aims to build a common horizon, so that the otherness can have its free space of expression assured. We understand, therefore, that intercultural issues should not be restricted to the level of skills/ competences in the practice of foreign language teaching. Interculturality could be understood as an invitation to reflection and action committed to the difference and the (co)experiences that take place inside and outside the classroom; a kind of driving force able to assist and guide teachers in their pedagogical planning, in the approach adopted by them to develop the communicative competence of their students, as well as in their attempt to raise students' and the other agents' awareness in the learning process for a careful and respectful attitude towards the “other”.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Conformação por spray da liga amorfizável a base de ferro [(Fe0,6Co0,4)0,75B0,2Si0,05]96Nb4(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2015-10-29) Cava, Régis Daniel; Bolfarini, Claudemiro; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9231627080617037; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4204517273140613The use of amorphous metals becomes a large market in the industry of micro-components and/or milimetric machine parts, presenting excellent magnetic and mechanical properties and high glass forming ability such as the recent developed iron based alloys in the [(FexCo1-x)0.75B0.2Si0.05]96Nb4 compositions, where x = 0.1-0.5 at.%. Wherever, these properties are reached when this material is processed by techniques that impose and maintain higher cooling rates (103-106 K/s), limiting factors in order to obtain amorphous parts with centimeters in dimension. In this study, the Fe43.2Co28.8B19.2Si4.8Nb4 alloy was processed by spray forming as an alternative route to obtain amorphous deposits with large sizes. The study conducted depositions onto rotating copper rollers generating a co-lamination condition, producing larger ribbons. In a second step, depositions in industrial scale were performed using preheated cylindrical and flat substrates moving longitudinally at various speeds, producing deposits with different thickness. In a third deposition, subsequent layers were deposited due the came and back longitudinal movement of the cylindrical substrate. The microstructure of all materials were evaluated by optical and scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and X-ray diffraction. The powders of all experiments and the spray-co-laminated ribbons presented fully amorphous microstructure. The first and second deposits exhibited a 1 to 2.5 mm thickness amorphous layer formed in direct contact with the substrate. The median/central regions (10 to 15 mm thickness) presented a mix of crystalline and amorphous phases or fully crystalline microstructure depending the thickness of the deposit. The third deposit was formed by ~10 layers with ~2 mm thickness each presenting fully amorphous or a mix of crystalline and amorphous phases. These results suggesting that this process is a promising potential for the production of amorphous alloys in large volumes and sizes, expanding the use of these materials.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Pescadoras de Barreirinha (AM) : conquistando direitos e resignando mitos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2015-10-29) Maia, Maria Bernadete Reis; Lima, Jacob Carlos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9244132532446607; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3355316694926549La recherche visait à analyser dans quelle mesure les femmes insertion dans'S pêche professionnelle dans les changements Amazon et les influences de l'activité quotidienne des pêcheurs artisanaux de Barreirinha (Amazonas). The overall objective of this study was to analyze the pedagogical projects of the courses (PPC) Dental Public Universities of the State of São Paulo (SP) in the light of DCN. This research is qualitative. The study subjects were five dental courses of SP who had their PPC reformulated after the DCN. The first collection of information was through secondary data obtained from the PPS of each educational institution. The documentary analysis of PPC courses was held in the light of DCN for graduation in dentistry and PPC courses were analyzed using an array of analytical categories. The eight analytical categories used in the analysis of PPC were divided into two areas: 1. Professional profile (general profile, health care, health management and health education) and 2 Course structure (organization of the course, design of teaching learning, teaching methods and learning and assessment). The second source of information consisted of primary data collected through semi-structured interview with the five coordinators of the courses, defined as the study subjects. The semi- structured interviews were conducted in person with three coordinators and through Skype with two coordinators of the courses, and were composed of questions about PPC and student education from the perspective of DCN and acting for the NHS. Qualitative analysis of the interviews took place from the content analysis technique, thematic modality defined by Bardin. The analysis of PPC in the light of DCN demonstrated suitability in general, with some observations regarding verbatim parts of the DCN in PPC, not matching the reality of course, little detail in relation to health management at all PPC analyzed and teaching methodologies learning and assessment still on traditional modes of education in relation to the powers described in DCN.
