We treated rats with a chemical selective antagonist (HC-067047) of the TRPV4 channel and measured core body temperature, metabolism, heat loss index and preferred ambient temperature. The behavioral mechanism was also assessed after treatment with topical agonist (RN-1747). Our data revealed that intravenous blockade of this channel with HC-067047 caused an increase in core body temperature at ambient temperature of 26 and 30°C, but not at 22 and 32°C. At 26°C, HC-067047-induced hyperthermia was accompanied by increase in oxygen consumption (an index of thermogenesis). Furthermore, rats chemically stimulated with TRPV4 agonist choose colder ambient temperatures and the cold-seeking behaviour after thermal stimulation (28–31°C) was inhibited by TRPV4 antagonist. In their own voices and guided by their own experiences, these teachers were asked to characterize and report how they handle materials while teaching their students. The roles represented by these materials according to the observed practices were also discussed and analyzed in this dissertation, and distilled into metaphors. In order to better understand the relationship between teachers’ practices and teaching materials, the researcher made use of stimulated recall sessions and a reflective interview. These tools were crucial to this research, as they gave the teachers the opportunity to revisit pedagogical practices. This study is ethnographic-based within a qualitative-interpretive paradigm. According to the data presented in this dissertation, we can infer that stimulated recall sessions and a reflective interview were invaluable resources for this research, as both of them contributed to the reflection process, helping teachers to (re)think their own practices and the roles they have in the classroom as professionals. This dissertation also tries to knit together studies related to teacher preparation and teaching materials, as this combination still remains a gap in the teacher education area. Another gap, which this dissertation attempts to address, is the lack of studies that have given voice to teachers, in order to understand their own perspectives on teaching materials. The aim of this study was to analyze the extent to which the software GeoGebra contributed to the learning of the content of point and line. Two groups of the daytime period of the 3rd grade of high school participated in the study of a public school in a city of São Paulo. Both classes were submitted to a Sequence of Activities that considered the different Registers of Semiotic Representation, according to Raymond Duval's Theory. The first group (T1), worked with activities in instructional and constructional approaches using GeoGebra, while the other (T2) worked the activities using pencil and paper. The data were obtained from a questionnaire about the participants' profile, a Pre-Test, Intermediate Evaluation and a Post-Test. Group 1 started the sequence with 0.15 points in relation to the average of the participants of Class 2, and ended with 0.71 points, that is, very close. We consider that for the two classes, the concepts were learned, since the averages in the post-test were 7.90 and 7.19, respectively. It was verified that in the questions that approached the abilities of visualization (locate, identify) and construction (trace, represent), Group 1 presented higher averages than the participants of Group 2, however in the questions that required calculation ability, Group 2 obtained better averages . In this way, we consider that GeoGebra contributed to the learning of point and straight contents, favoring the representation of mathematical objects in different registers. However, we believe that it should be associated with other methodologies that account for the students' comprehension and appropriation of calculation ability, which only the use of the software did not contribute to develop.
