Academic Laboratories are a source of concern due to the risks inherent in the activities carried out on their premises. In general, the handling of chemical products of different classes occurs, the handling of equipment that operates under intense pressure, heat or cold, equipment that generates noise at high levels or with heated surfaces and exposed rotating parts. It is reasonable to assume that students in the initial cycles are unaware of the potential risks to which they will be exposed during laboratory classes. Eventually, the conditions for handling products and operating equipment can be aggravated due to other factors such as, for example, the construction characteristics of the environments. With the application of the case study method and the exploratory observation methodology, they were observed during classes at an Academic Laboratory of the Department of Chemistry (DQ) of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) - São Carlos campus, their constructive, operational and organizational, and also the 'user actions', entitled 'student risk actions', characterized in two aspects: accident risk and health risk, and the observations registered occurrences of both aspects. With the monitoring and study of the routine of the laboratory associated with the moment of the class, a diagnosis is made that allows, in an initial moment, the elaboration of the orientative material, this being a first step for the subsequent elaboration and implantation of specific manuals by the academic laboratory. , given the particularities of each one, in order to reduce the risks related to the health and safety of its users, that is, those who work there or who develop activities, especially students. Considering the many activities developed in academic laboratories in various departments at UFSCar, it became evident that this theme and its application are extensible to conceptually similar work environments, in all campuses, as it was found the need for prior guidance to space users studied, which encouraged the elaboration of a Manual for Safe Procedures, the result of this research.

Evidence shows a reciprocal relationship between chronic pain and emotional disorders, exacerbating the other's experience. The affective-emotional component of pain can be activated not only in those who feel the pain but also in those who observe painful situations, characterized as empathy. In mice, living with chronic pain makes hypernociception, and the amygdala is one of the brain structures that play an essential role in emotional and nociceptive control. However, the neurotransmissions involved in this process are unknown. This study investigates the serotonergic, GABAergic, and endocannabinoid systems of the amygdala in mice's nociception empathy model. Male Swiss-albino mice were housed in pairs and, after 14 days of living together, one animal of the pair underwent sciatic nerve constriction surgery (constriction), or not (Sham) and returning to living with observers of the constriction [CNC (cagemate nerve constriction)] or Sham [CS (cagemate sham)], for another 14 days. On the 24th day, the CNC and CS groups underwent stereotactic surgery for bilateral cannula implantation in the amygdala. On the 28th day, the CNC and CS animals, after receiving ondansetron intra-amygdala injections (5-HT3 antagonist), mCPBG (5-HT3 agonist), (midazolam (GABAA-benzodiazepine agonist,) and cannabidiol (phytocannabinoid), were submitted to a nociceptive stimulus with acetic acid-induced writhing test [0.6% intraperitoneal (i.p.)]. The results reveal that living with chronic pain increased the expression of 5-HT3 receptors in the central and basolateral nuclei of the amygdaloid complex in both hemispheres. The administration of ondansetron (1.0 and 3.0 nmol), midazolam (3.0 and 30 nmol), and cannabidiol (30 nmol) reversed the hypernociception induced by cohabited together; and mCPBG (20 nmol) accentuated nociception in the CNC observer. Ondansetron (0.3 nmol, dose devoid of nociceptive effect), followed by midazolam or cannabidiol, reversed the antinociception produced by midazolam and cannabidiol, respectively, in mice after lived with a conspecific constrict. The results exhibit the involvement of the serotonergic, GABAergic, and endocannabinoid neurotransmissions of the amygdala and the interplay between these neurotransmissions in the hypernociception induced by the nociception empathy model.

The news of juvenile childhood cancer generates, for the family, a break in expectations and a feeling of unpreparedness in the face of the unknown. Thus, what often occurs is a process of adapting the entire family system to this new reality, seeking an interaction with the individuals involved in the process of treating children / adolescents with cancer. In this context, this research aimed to understand the communication experience established between child / adolescent, health professionals and family in the face of the child's illness. This is a study with a qualitative approach, which adopted Symbolic Interactionism as its theoretical framework and the Grounded Theory as its Methodological Framework. Eleven families and child / adolescent undergoing chemotherapy for cancer participated in this study, totaling 26 participants. Regarding health professionals, 13 individuals from different professional categories participated. For data collection, participant observation was used, where the researcher observed the existing conversation between the actors involved in the treatment of the child / adolescent. Based on this observation, a posteriori, semi-structured interviews were carried out with the participants and the data analysis was carried out concurrently with the collection, according to the steps recommended by the referential. It was possible to understand the experience of individuals in three Phenomena: “Seeking tirelessly for answers”; “Feeling desolate for having a changed life path” and “Communicating the importance of treatment time”. The first points out the need of the family to know about the prognosis of the child / adolescent, the fear of losing it is at the heart of communication. The second is expressed by the child / adolescent's feeling of sadness in experiencing moments of deprivation, enhancing the search for understanding the reason for experiencing this situation. The last is the speech of health professionals to believe in treatment, after all, there is no other way for the child's rehabilitation. These phenomena pointed out the Central Category and the Theoretical Model: “Waiting to reach the future time”, which represents the communication experience of the actors involved in the process of treating children / adolescents with cancer, aiming at the need for care and to live the therapy to glimpse the cure of the disease. The results lead to a reflection on the role of health professionals in communicating with children / adolescents and family, since they want to know beyond the side effects and the procedures that are being performed, they want to talk about a time that has not yet come, but that is intrinsic to your experience. Through the emerging theoretical model, it is possible to list several strategies to be used by health professionals to assist them in communicating with family, children and adolescents in order to facilitate the interaction between the actors.

The exploitation of natural resources in Brazil occurred in a highly predatory manner, strongly impacting our ecosystems, reflecting how our society relates to the environment of which it is a part. Environmental awareness and social pressure promoted the creation of agreements and laws in order to guarantee the preservation of ecosystems and natural resources. However, some governments and corporations do not necessarily comply with the agreement, which reduces the effectiveness of such instruments. In the search for paths of profound changes in direction, the research places its gaze on traditional communities, groups that carry knowledge and practices based on a relationship of confluence with the environment, and historically suffer oppression in order to adapt the realities based on a capitalist developmentalism, are often unable to promote their cultural reproduction. The communities of Candomblé terreiros, for example, have a different relationship with their environment because their culture and way of life is based on the connection with natural elements that are considered sacred. To maintain their daily and religious habits, they depend on clean water, on various species of plants and foods. Thus, such a connection with nature has the potential to stimulate educational processes and social practices that tend to preserve and recover their territories and the spaces they occupy, thus promoting the planting of various species of plants that are venerated or consumed, whether they have land, in the use of public spaces or through the acquisition of other producers. For this purpose, this research is based on the experience of Ilê Omo Aiye, a candomblé community located in the rural area of São Luiz do Paraitinga, which over the last decades has promoted the reforestation of the site it occupies since its foundation in 1986, based on values and principles present in their tradition taught by their ancestors, in caring for their sacred elements. In this way, from interviews the history of the terreiro and its leaders was recorded, and it understands how its foundations permeate its relations with the natural elements and how such foundations promoted practices that resulted in the recovery of 6.9 hectares of Atlantic forest. 4 people were interviewed about the relationship between nature and the sacred, the uses of plants, tradition and territory. Therefore, it is noted that the preservation and recovery of natural environments generate an increase in the resilience of ecosystems and species, making them more resistant to environmental changes and impacts, in addition to contributing to the maintenance of biodiversity. Thus it is stated that if there is a real intention to change the course and stop negatively impacting the environment, it is necessary that we listen and learn from those who have been living in harmony with their territory for so long, as here we listen to the terreiro people.

This study analyzes, from the perspective of the Functional Discourse Grammar (FDG), of Hengeveld e Mackenzie (2008), the plural marking in the noun phrase in spoken Portuguese in Portuguese-speaking countries that have Portuguese as their official language, namely: (i) Brazil; (ii) Portugal; (iii) Angola; (iv) Cape Verde; (v) Guinea-Bissau; (vi) Mozambique; (vii) São Tomé and Príncipe; and (viii) East Timor, using speech samples from the oral corpus organized by the Linguistics Center of the University of Lisbon. Corroborating the hypothesis that the Brazilian variety is the most transparent one, considering studies that prove less expressive use of the plural copy in all elements of the noun phrase (NP) in Brazilian Portuguese (LIPSKI, 2008), the general objective of the study is to investigate violations of transparency in the plural marking in Portuguese varieties, by observing the definite (“five horses”) and indefinite (“The horses”) quantification, by means of the theoretical contribution of Leufkens (2015) and Câmara et al. (2017). Knowing that linguistic transparency occurs, basically, in the one-to-one relationships between meaning and form, we seek to verify the occurrence of multiple forms of plural marking in the context of noun phrases (NPs) in each of the varieties, with the specific objectives of investigating: (i) the presence of explicit variants and variants (0); (ii) the plural marking inside or outside the nucleus of the NP; (iii) composition of SN; and (iv) the position of internal constituents of the NP. The study assumes the perspective that there is opacity when there are repetitions of plural marking in both quantifications (definite and indefinite) and that there is transparency when the plural is marked only once, a perspective assumed by Leufkens (2015). For the verification of how the plural marking occurs in the agreement and number agreement within the scope of the selected corpus, through the investigation of relations of transparency and opacity between the representational and morphosyntactic levels, a qualitative-quantitative methodology was adopted, with the support of the Goldvarb software. The results prove the initial hypothesis, as the data reveal a more expressive use of the plural only in one of the constituents of the NP in the Brazilian Portuguese; the Timorese variety, on the other hand, is the opaquest variety, since the plural marking occurs in all the constituents of the analyzed NPs. It is important to reiterate that the results of the analysis are restricted to the universe of the corpus analyzed, with no intention of offering a comparative analysis that generalizes the behavior of the varieties. What is observed here are usage trends, which may be proven in the future with a more expressive data sampling.

Emotional Intelligence (EI) corresponds to the ability to perceive, facilitate thought, understand and manage emotions and has been related to several factors in life - such as work. This research aimed to verify relations between EI and professional variables: work stress, career adaptability and occupational self-efficacy of adults in the labor market, using the Emotional Intelligence Battery, Work Stress Scale, Career Adaptability Scale, Occupational SelfEfficacy Scale and a Socioeconomic Questionnaire. The sample consisted of 62 participants, aged between 20 and 65 years old (average=31,8; sd=9,67; median=29,5), of both sexes with slight predominance of men (51,6%; n=32), civil servants (11,3%, n=7), private workers (51,6%, n=32), service providers (27,4%, n=17) or informal/temporary workers (9,7%, n=6). For the sample of this study, it was possible to observe that the general emotional intelligence was not related to the variables work stress, career adaptability and occupational self-efficacy. The first factor of perception of emotions itself was negatively and strongly correlated with work stress, it was also positively and moderately correlated with factors 2 (control), 4 (confidence) and general of career adaptability. The second factor of Understanding Emotions – referring to the understanding of emotional transitions, the total score of the Understanding Emotions test and the second factor of Regulation of Emotions – referring to the use of ineffective strategies – correlated with factor 1 (concern) of career adaptability, the first two being positive and moderate and the last negative and moderate. No EI factor correlated with occupational self-efficacy. Although none of the correlational hypotheses proposed in this research - between emotional intelligence (and its factors) and stress at work, career adaptability and occupational self-efficacy - has been verified, with only the listed correlations for the total sample, further exploration of the data shows that some EI variables correlated with professional variables for specific populations. The multiple regression analysis showed, in addition, that work stress and participants’ age appeared negatively, and the career-adaptability (CA) control factor, positively, as predictors of perceiving own emotions. Age and professional situation were negative and positive predictors, respectively, of the performance in understanding emotions, while the CA factors concern (F1), control (F2) and curiosity (F3) predicted the emotional regulation of the participants - negatively the CA- F1 and positively both CA-F2 and CA-F3. Thus, different contexts and other variables may play some role in the possible relationships between EI and the three professional variables investigated here.

The neural histaminergic system innervates the cerebellum, with high density of fibers in the vermis and flocculus. Experimental evidence indicates that cerebellum is involved in various non-motor as well as motor operations. However, the role of histaminergic system in these functions is not clear. In this present study, we investigated the effects of intracerebellar histamine injections and H1, H2and H3 receptor antagonist injections (chlorpheniramine, ranitidine and thioperamide, respectively) on motor performance motor learning, balance and anxiety in mice. For this, we used Swiss albino mice weighing 25-35g and maintained in a thermoregulated environment. The cerebellar vermis of male mice was implanted with guide cannula. After three days of recovery, the animals received microinjections of saline, histamine, chlorpheniramine ranitidine or thioperamide in different concentrations. Five minutes postinjection, the rota-rod and balance beam test was performed in three stages. After evaluation of motor performance and balance, animals were submitted to elevated plus maze. Statistical analysis included the homogeneity test and multi-factor analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range test and Pearson test for correlation between motor and non-motor functions. A p value of ≤0.05 was required for significance. The results showed a possible facilitation of histamine at the highest dose in the evaluation of learning and motor performance in the rota-rod. In addition, the results showed an impairment when tested at the 0.052 dose of CPA, at the lowest doses of ranitidine and also at highest dose of thioperamide. We do not found any correlation between motor skills and anxiety in this study. Together, the results suggest that cerebellar histaminergic projections are involved in motor learning and make a modulating role in the cerebellar circuit to ensure that movements are performed efficiently. Futhermore, the manipulation of the histaminergic system can influence other systems.

Considering the insertion of English Language (EL) in Elementary Education (EE) of public schools in the countryside of São Paulo State, our aim in this research, is to find out how the classes in this context have been featured, what are the main challenges encountered and how teachers have dealt with these challenges in order to overcome them. It is a qualitative study with an ethnographic nature, carried out with three EL teachers, from different schools, who teach at Elementary School in public context. To develop this investigation, we observed the classes in the third grade of Elementary School. In order to develop the investigation, different tools have been used: questionnaires, interviews, recordings of audio classes and researcher's diary. Data analysis was based on content analysis (BARDIN, 1977), for the creation of categories and, on methodological triangulation (COHEN, MANION, 1981) used to assure reliability to the research. Thus, we intended to understand how EL classes for children are, observing: (i) how teachers are oriented to develop teaching practice; (ii) what the nature of the activities carried out by teachers in the classroom with children is; and (iii) how teachers deal with the specificities and possible difficulties of teaching EL in a child context. Therefore, the theoretical framework guiding this research presents the historical path of the implementation of teaching English as a foreign language for children in the Brazilian context (COLOMBO, CONSOLO, 2016; ASSIS, 2018; ROCHA, 2006), as well as discussing the child as a language learner (CAMERON, 2001; CRISTOVÃO, GAMERO, 2009; LIMA, 2010), in addition to highlighting the role of the teacher in this case (SEGANFREDO e BENEDETTI, 2009; SANTOS, 2009; LIMA 2019). The results showed that the teachers' sayings, albeit in an implicit way, dialogue with the theoretical foundations discussed in this work, however, there is a remarkable gap between the saying and the doing in the classroom. We also realized that teachers have difficulty in explaining why they teach the way they teach (ALMEIDA FILHO, 1993).

The cultivation of corn in an organic system is important to meet the production chains of milk, meat, and organic eggs. However, organic corn production faces two main challenges, weed management and mineral nutrition, especially nitrogen. The experiments were conducted in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 harvests in Araras (SP), in a randomized block design with four replications. In experiment 1 (Chapter 1) the treatments were corn intercropping with: Crotalaria spectabilis (5 plants m-1) (MC), Cajanus cajan (5 plants m-1) (MG) and Crotalaria spectabilis + Cajanus cajan (6 plants m-1, 3 plants of each green manure) (MCG) and one control, maize monoculture (M). Experiment 2 (Chapter 2) was installed in a 2x4 factorial scheme, two mechanical weed management methods, mowing and cultivator with hoes, and four corn intercropping with: Crotalaria spectabilis (5 plants m-1) (MC), Cajanus cajan (5 plants m-1) (MG) and Crotalaria spectabilis + Cajanus cajan (6 plants m-1, 3 plants of each green manure) (MCG) and one control, monoculture of corn (M). Weeds were evaluated in between the planting rows, in the stages of four and eight expanded leaves of corn. Wealth (S), Margalef diversity (α) and Shannon Index (H´) and Piellou equitability (E) of the community and the relative importance (IR) of weed species were determined. The data were also submitted to principal coordinate analysis (PCoA), along with the SIMPER multivariate analysis (similarity percentage). However, there was a reduction in species richness and diversity in the 2018/19 harvest. The consortia MG and MCG in the 2018/19 harvest presented weed composition closer to M and lower E, that is, predominance of fewer weeds. The cultivation systems had little influence on the IR of the main weeds. There was a predominance of summer weeds with late flowering and remaining in the off-season. The following were evaluated: corn growth: dry mass (MSM) and leaf area index (IAF) at stages V4, V8 (four and eight leaves) and VT (pendoamento) of corn. The dynamics of nitrogen: Falker chlorophyll index (ICF) in stages V4, V8 and VT, dry mass of green fertilizers (MSAV) in stages V8 and R6 (physiological maturation), nitrogen accumulation in MSAV at stage R6 and the content of N in corn kernels. The weed dry mass production (MSPD) in stages V8 and R6 and the productivity of corn grains. The mowing and the cultivator did not interfere in the MSM production. However, the grower favored the IAF increase. The largest MSAV productions occurred in the MC and MCG consortia. The lowest ICF for corn was in MG, indicating possible competition between corn and dwarf pigeon for nitrogen in the VT stage of corn. There was no difference between cultivation systems and weed management for N content and corn grain yield. The cultivator was not efficient for weed control in corn intercrops with green manures that produced higher MSAV.

The riparian zones have undergone great changes due to anthropic activities, among them, the introduction of invasive species. The invasions monitoring in these areas can be complex due to flooded environments and often not reachable, such as the case of monitoring invasions of the species Hedychium coronarium. In this study, a low-cost and easy-to-use integrated methodology for early detection and mapping of this species was proposed, using a technology with the capacity to provide high temporal and spatial resolution data. Two distinct areas were chosen where the images were captured (visible RGB light spectrum) at two times of the year by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The generated images were classified using machine learning algorithms present in the Dzetsaka ML plugin: the Gaussian Mixture Model, K-Nearest Neighbors and Random Forest. To compare the efficiency of the classifiers according to the form of sampling, different types were used, varying the size of the polygons (6-8 m2 and 12-16 m2) and the number of classes (5 and 8 classes). Classified in 5 classes, with a Kappa index of 78.8% and 80% in June and November, respectively, in the first area and a Kappa index of 72.6% in the second area. The best time for the classification of images was the month of November, possibly due to the better distinction between species and vegetation. We demonstrate promising results in the creation of maps of invaded areas using an adopted methodology, which can subsidize dynamic geospatial models to identify distribution patterns of the studied species and the damage caused. It is also possible to subsidize studies on other invasive species.

The construction of ever taller buildings challenges civil engineers to seek new solutions and structural systems that enable their projects. Ego seems to be the main reason for the construction of huge skyscrapers, which are not always economically justified. In their projects, horizontal loads assume a fundamental role in the design and analysis of the stability of the building. Foreign and Brazilian standards are based on the gust loading fator to estimate the dynamic response, considering wind-velocity and turbulence profile. Thus, this work presented a study of the structural behavior of a tall building submitted to horizontal and vertical loads, considering Brazilian, foreign and technical literature standards. This work was divided in three steps. The first one consisted of a comparative study among several standards, showing that the Brazilian one presented similar values to the others of longitudinal dynamic response due to wind loads on a tall building. The second one presented a case study of a tall building submitted to wind loads calculated according to Brazilian, American and European standards. Top floor displacement, inter-story drift and maximum acceleration results were obtained through software and used to verify serviceability state limit criteria. These analysis have showed that Brazilian standard limits are more rigorous in checking maximum displacement and acceleration, while the American standard presented higher values of inter-story drift. The third phase of this work presented a comparative study between three lateral-load resisting systems applied to a tall building: rigid frames, shear wall-frame interaction, and lateral bracing with steel cross frames. All three were able to resist wind loads. However, the use of shear wall-frame interaction system reduced by 15% the volume of concrete, while using the lateral bracing system it was possible to save 31% of concrete, compared to the rigid frame system. In addition, the analysis showed that the coefficient Ɣz of global stability resulted in a good approximation of the nonlinear global effects in the studied cases.

Musculoskeletal disorders are the most common causes of reduced quality of life in the world. In some situations, very large flaws in the bones prevent them from regenerating naturally, requiring the use of a bone substitute. In this sense, solutions have been proposed using intelligent materials for making scaffolds. In this work, a composite biomaterial of beta-tricalcium phosphate (beta-TCP), a bioactive, osteoconductive ceramic, with a good balance between absorption, degradation and formation of the new bone; and poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) copolymer (PLGA), a biocompatible, bioabsorbable, biodegradable, non-toxic synthetic polyester, moldable and with good mechanical properties, was developed. This composite was used as an input for 3D printing, a technique that allows the creation of structured three-dimensional scaffolds with controlled porosity and customizable shape. The beta-TCP particles obtained had a diameter between 421 and 785 nm. Through the images of the cryogenic fracture of the printed piece of PLGA/beta-TCP, beta-TCP particles were observed on the polymeric matrix with the formation of dispersed agglomerates in a standard way on the sample. The thermal analysis of the printed biocomposite block provided a real percentage of the ceramic mass of 32.3% and the X-ray tomography showed a value of 30.6%, showing that the composite shows little variation in its proportion. Tomography also showed that the pore volume in the printed piece of PLGA/beta-TCP was 13.8%, a value that can be easily adjusted during 3D printing according to the implant application. Printed specimens were obtained and these presented tensile strength of 27 ± 2 MPa, compressive strength of 39 ± 1 MPa, and elastic modulus of 1.58 ± 0.05 GPa, which correspond to lower mechanical properties than cortical bone, but similar to the trabecular bone and other polymeric implants on the market. The torsion resistance showed a value of 1.70 ± 0.15 Nm, which is superior to the cortical bone. In the in vitro cytotoxicity assay, the biocomposite did not show any toxic effect. Based on the results, it was possible to print successfully the product of PLGA/beta-TCP in the form of blocks, wedges, cylinders and meshes was obtained, with adequate structural and mechanical properties to be applied as a bone implant with an adjustable size and porosity as needed.

The Urgency and Emergency Network (UEN, translated from Portuguese RUE) goal to articulate and integrate healthcare services with agility and humanization to patients in critical situations. This integration requires the development of interprofessional collaboration, in which integrated both health’s and social assistance’s professionals who work together in favor of providing healthcare in a safe and quality way. Aim: To analyze interprofessional collaboration on the UEN of a city of São Paulo State. Method: This is a quantitative, observational and cross-sectional study that was carried out in healthcare units on the RUE of a city of São Paulo State. The study’s population was composed by healthcare’s workers who work in the UEN, whose intentional sample involved participants who responded to self-administered instrument called Assessment of Interprofessional Team Collaboration Scale (AITCS II-BR). The data were analyzed through exploratory, confirmatory and descriptive statistical analysis. Results: The 154 study participants had high averages indicating availability for interprofessional collaboration, Factor 1. Partnership (M = 3.32), Factor 2. Cooperation (M = 4.00), Factor 3. Coordination (M = 3.05) and total collaboration’s score (M = 3.47). Results showed that cooperation factor had a greater influence on collaboration in the study’s sample. Confirmatory factor demonstrated validity’s evidence of AITCS II-BR in urgency and emergency’s context with acceptable indexes CFI = 0.95, TLI = 0.94, RMSEA = 0.089 in three-dimensional oblique model, Factor 1. Partnership (α = 0.91; CC = 0.94; VME = 0.66); Factor 2. Cooperation (α = 0.91; CC = 0.95; VME = 0.69) and Factor 3. Coordination (α = 0.83; CC = 0.88; VME = 0.50). Regarding the external variable, ‘team working time’, a significant difference was identified in the Partnership factor (p = 0.02) with higher scores for workers one year or less. Conclusion: UEN’s workers in the studied region showed positive attitudes to team interprofessional collaboration with an emphasis on cooperation’s dimension. AITCS II-BR was confirmed as valid and reliable instrument to measure interprofessional collaboration in healthcare’s context.

Birds and mammals have increased cognitive abilities and selective forces favoring complex behavioral skills are considered important drivers of brain evolution. A tractable way to infer about evolutionary pathways shaping brain complexity is to compare brain sizes between groups of organisms with different behavioral and ecological characteristics. The construction of closed nests is one of the most remarkable abilities of birds, but its relationships with brain size remains unexplored. Here we use data from 538 bird species to test whether species that build closed nests have larger brains compared to those that build open nests. We also controlled to the effects of body size and migration, both known to affect brain size. Through a Bayesian approach with phylogenetic control, we reveal that the construction of closed nests is not correlated to disproportionally enlarged brains, thus contradicting the current thought that the architecture of closed nests is more complex in relation to open nests. This lack of significance suggests the existence of variations in the complexity of both closed nests and open nests, in addition to the effects of negative allometry that occurred throughout the evolution of the passerines. Although our results do not show a nest type effect, the idea that, on average, closed nests may be associated with larger brains may not be readily ruled out. Thus, once a treatable amount of brain size data becomes available, analyses should focus, for example, on specific families that have as many nest-independent transitions as possible.

Planejamento turístico responsável das praias Perequê e Castelhanos (Ilhabela-SP)
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2020-08-28) Seixas, Camila Lopes; Lobo, Heros Augusto Santos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9405961078398915; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4183566174194247
This research approaches responsible tourism planning on the beaches of Ilhabela (São Paulo, Brazil), which requires specific carefulness due to being an island. The discussion embraces issues related to time, work, spare-time, tourist profile and tourism segments and goes through different concepts from mass and mild tourism, responsible tourism, sustainable tourism, and tourism of experience. The systemic relations of local tourism and tourists are investigated aiming to introduce guidelines and an overview towards the responsible planning of the beaches of Ilhabela. This work takes the beaches Perequê and Castelhanos as study subjects, considering their opposed location that diverge because of the protection area declared by the “Plano de Manejo do Parque Estadual de Ilhabela” (Handling Plan for the State Park of Ilhabela) and the cultural, environmental, social and economic influences on each of them. Guidelines for a responsible planning of the beaches are presented as a result, both for entrepreneurships and tourists and the public power as well, involving management and promotion actions and public politics; all of it while taking into consideration the narrowing factors and the impact of public usage. It also features studies and analysis of the Perequê beach and Ilhabela’s tourism concerning the Pandemic and the Responsible Tourism seal adopted by the Tourism Ministry (Ministério do Turismo).
