Direct seeding in forest restoration can be a viable alternative for the restoration of ecological processes in degraded ecosystems, providing increased diversity and rapid soil coverage. The present study is divided into two chapters, the first chapter 1, through the literature review, the main concepts and the general situation of ecological restoration, direct sowing techniques and use of green manure in direct sowing were presented. Chapter 2 sought to answer the following questions: (a) was the green cover (green manure) effective in reducing weed infestation and allowing the establishment of sown species? (b) how did these cultivation practices affect the development and establishment of the native species sown? (c) which species were sensitive to competition with green manure? Of the tree species tested, six showed potential for large-scale use in restoration by direct seeding and green fertilizers were efficient in promoting initial soil cover, reducing weed competition, most affecting some species in development and establishment.
