The present research is based on two aspects, which are: first, the incipience of investigations and research on the causes of the difficulties of the Deaf to access health services and second, the influence of academic training in the care of the nursing professional. Thus, the main objective is to analyze the curricular matrix of the Nursing course of public HEIs in all regions of Brazil, to verify the presence and type of availability of the Libras curricular unit. The specific objectives are based on: analyzing the availability of the Libras curricular unit in the HEI courses; discuss the inclusion of the Libras curricular unit in the curriculum; to investigate how the Deaf care is provided by the nursing team in Primary Health Care and to analyze the implications for the health of the Deaf when interviewing the nursing team and Deaf patients. The participants studied were 41 nurses and nursing technicians, who are on the front line of the PHC, and 7 Deaf people who enjoy this service. As a complement and to understand the possible origin of the results, documental research was used to analyze the curricular matrix in search of the Libras curricular unit of all face-to-face courses offered by public HEIs in Brazil. Data analysis demonstrates that the health care of the Deaf patient is precarious, largely due to the poor training of health professionals. Most of the HEIs offer the course unit of Libras as an option and in some states it is still not available even 15 years after the Decree that prioritizes it.

Environmental health is related to the health and environmental conditions of a given region, municipality or watershed. The Environmental Health Indicator (ISA) is a planning tool that assists in less immediate and more realistic decision-making and allows comparison of health among different municipalities. The main objective was to evaluate the environmental health of the municipalities belonging to Water Resources Management Unit 12 (UGRHI 12) - Baixo Pardo/Grande River Basin (SP) as a contributing factor for urban solid waste management (USWM). A methodology consisted of a bibliographic review, calculation of the Environment Health Indicator (ISA) using the method of the State Sanitation Council (CONESAN, 2019), adaptations of the method and list of results for USWM. Data collection was performed exclusively on a digital platform. The data were inserted in the ISA equation, but due to the absence of some data, sub-indicators were adapted. It was possible to calculate the ISA for the twelve municipalities and UGHRI 12. The results indicated that of the twelve municipalities evaluated, Altair, Colômbia, Jaborandi e Orlândia were classified as wholesome (76%

Introduction: The pelvic floor is located in the lower part of the abdominopelvic cavity and has several important functions of support, continence and allows for physiological sexual intercourse and childbirth. Pregnancy, labor and delivery are factors that can damage pelvic support. Thus, techniques that aim to prepare the musculature, such as the use of Epi-No® vaginal dilator are required. Objective: To verify whether there was an association between the number of sessions in performing the technique using the Epi-No® vaginal dilator with intrapartum outcomes, level of discomfort and pelvic floor muscle function. Methods: An experimental study was carried out with 20 participants, with gestational age between 30 and 34 weeks. Anamnesis and evaluation of the PFM function was performed before and after delivery. The Epi-No® was made available to be used at home, every day, until delivery. Data were tabulated in EXCEL and analyzed in the SPSS program version 20; the variables (pelvic floor muscle function, intrapartum outcomes, satisfaction with the technique) were analyzed by descriptive techniques (mean ± standard deviation, frequency) and the association between the number of sessions (days) of use of Epi-No® and the other variables were analyzed using Fisher's exact test, with a significance level of 5%. Results: There was no association between the number of days performed and the technique in PFM function, intrapartum outcomes and level of satisfaction with the technique. Conclusion: Although the number of sessions performed with the Epi-No® did not interfere with the PFM function or the variables (pelvic floor musculature function, intrapartum outcomes, satisfaction with the technique), the study showed that the use was more frequent. technique, can promote greater chances of presence of intact perineum.

From Law No. 9394 on, education started to value a more dynamic, multidisciplinary and more applicable teaching in the productive life of the students, so in what determines the Law and looking at the potential of technical course students, the objective of the research was to investigate the scientific literacy (SL) of students of Youth and Adult Education (YAE) through learning situations (LS) designed by students of the Technical Course in Sugar and Alcohol (SAT). Having SASSERON (2008) as a theoretical reference of SL, the students of SAT elaborated six LSs with the purpose of contributing with the SL of chemical and physical transformations together with agroindustrial processes of sugar cane biomass, from a non-formal education. The organization of the six LSs, as well as the SL of SAT students and YAE students were analyzed from the perspective of three axes of literacy, the understanding of scientific terms and concepts, the understanding of the nature of science in investigative, ethical and political facts, and the understanding of the relationship science, technology, society and environment. Besides SL, the research also had the purpose of investigating the "student protagonist" of SAT students. This research had a descriptive character with a qualitative approach to evidence observed through answers to initial and final questionnaires, photos, audio and video recordings and participant observation. The data collection took place at night with 25 students of the 4th module of the SAT course at STS "Bento Carlos Botelho do Amaral" and 17 students of the 3rd grade of YAE High School "Jeremias de Paula Eduardo". The research was divided into stages and modules, the first stage consisted of the modules of motivational mediation, formative and construction/preparation of the LSs and initial data collection with the students of SAT/YAE, while the second stage consisted of the modules of mediation of the SLs of the students of SAT with the students of YAE and final data collection. The results led to evidence that corroborated with the SL of the YAE/SAT students, as well as in the finding of seven student protagonists.

Let F be a field and let G be a group. Denote by UTn(F) the algebra of n × n upper triangular matrices over F. The mathematicians Valenti and Zaicev described all G-gradings on UTn(F), and the mathematicians Di Vincenzo, Koshlukov and Valenti described the set of all G-graded polynomial identities of UTn(F) when F is an infinite field. After, Koshlukov and Yukihide described the elementary G-gradings on the Lie algebra UTn(F)^(−). In this dissertation, we study these results. Moreover, Koshlukov and Yukihide described the Zn-graded polynomial identities of the Lie algebra UTn(F)^(−) when the grading is canonical and F has characteristic 0. In this dissertation, we give another proof of this fact.

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic progressive disease that brings a substantial socioeconomic burden to society and healthcare systems. Cryotherapy is a non-pharmacological intervention that is widely used by health care professionals for its effects on pain and inflammation. Compiling evidence about cryotherapy use and its efficacy may help to generate strategies for targeted knee OA rehabilitation. Thus, the objectives of this thesis were: 1) To investigate the effectiveness of cryotherapy on pain and physical function in knee OA; 2) To answer the question: Does short-term cryotherapy improve pain, function, and quality of life in people with knee OA? To achieve the first objective, we conducted a systematic review following the recommendations proposed by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses and the Cochrane Collaboration for systematic reviews. From the 338 studies identified, only five were included in the final analysis. Our review showed that cryotherapy modalities presented a low-quality level of evidence for pain control and functional outcomes among knee OA individuals. Besides, the mean PEDro score was 4.20/10, indicating the low methodological quality of the available studies. Therefore, there was an important literature gap to fill. To fill this gap and achieve the second objective, we conducted a randomized controlled trial (RCT) reported according to the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials Statement for Randomized Trials (CONSORT) of Nonpharmacologic Treatments and the Template for Intervention Description and Replication checklist (TIDieR) to verify the effects of short-term cryotherapy application on pain and physical function of individuals with knee OA. The trial was conducted over a period of 6 consecutive days and 60 patients were randomized into two groups: an experimental group that received cryotherapy (ice packs), and a control group that received a sham intervention (sand packs). Our study showed that cryotherapy was not superior to a sham intervention in terms of relieving pain or improving function and quality of life in people with knee OA. Other research included: with the results of our first RCT, we developed a protocol for a second RCT to verify the complementary effects of cryotherapy (long-term use) on pain and function when associated with a tailored therapeutic exercise protocol for patients with knee OA. Also, we included on this thesis a masterclass about knee OA to guide therapists on their clinical practice and decision making. All manuscripts included on this thesis are published.
