    In this paper, the proposed study seeks to augment intuition regarding the role of the adjustment of interest rate in the GDP stabilization, by making use of engineering techniques. It is proposed a macroeconomic analysis by means of a dynamic model, with following use of a control mesh in order to reduce the stabilization time of the system. Different sources of instability are applied to the system in order to evaluate the efficiency of the control mesh. Finally, it is used real data from Brazilian macroeconomy taken from IpeaDATA from the period of 2010 to 2019 to also test the control system.

    Brazil is leader in oranges production and export. For this, it depends on technologies in its production system and one of the most important is the seedlings production using grafting, where the rootstock can provide greater productivity and better characteristics of abiotic and biotic resistance to the canopy. In Brazil, the great majority of the grafting was done in Rangpur lime, which has a good resistance to water deficit, but is subject to Citrus sudden death, and because this the study and use of other rootstocks, such as the Swingle Citrumelo has growing. The present study aimed to evaluate the initial development of 24 hybrids in a greenhouse, located in the Centro APTA Citros Sylvio Moreira (Cordeirópolis, SP), through periodic intervals of plants height and stem diameter. As result, the hybrids 57 and 154 showed greater growth of stem diameter and the 119 in aerial part height, and may be good rootstock options in orchards of São Paulo in the future.

    The welfare of captive animals acquired significant degrees of concern due to several ethical and instrumental reasons. However, the absence of agreement on the definition of the physiological mean of welfare contribute to the lack of objective tools to measure/quantify it. Current methodologies used to infer welfare are based on behavioral indexes and they are focused on mammalian species. Reptiles are described as ‘behaviorally simple’, which makes assessing their welfare based on human observations of behavioral characteristics rather inconsistent. In this regard, analyses of the regulatory physiological function have the potential to provide reliable evaluations. In this project, we propose using the Heart Rate Variability (HRV) analysis as a measurement to attest the integrity of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and so, as an index of welfare and recovery in tegu lizards, Salvator merianae. We followed the HRV during sequential protocols commonly employed in animal facilities. The lizards had their variability traced after handling and inspection, injections, prophylaxis, sedation, and anesthetic plan. Our study confirms the HRV characterization for our design species, tegu lizard Salvator merianae. The analysis was efficient in signalizing both the depressor effect provoked by each maneuver and the recovered variability values afterwards. Time needed for recovery was shown to be correlate to the disturbance degree created by the maneuvers. We exhibit the HRV value as assess method under the tested terms.

    The use of bovine manure as an alternative to mineral fertilization can reduce production costs, reduce the need for irrigation, provide an appropriate destination for manure produced by cattle farming and better soil conditioning, in addition to allowing the product to be certified organic for various crops, including the radish crop. This work aimed evaluate the effect of fertilizing with tanned manure on radish productivity and quality. The experiment was conducted in two trials, the first in 20-liter pots, with six treatments of inclusion of bovine manure at doses of 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 t.ha-1 in sandy and clayey soil condition , and the second in field with 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 t.ha-1 of incorporated tanned bovine manure. At the time of harvest, the dry matter weight of roots (radishes), the length and diameter of the roots, as well as leaf area and rate of radishes with commercial potential were evaluated. In clay soil cultivation, organic fertilization with bovine manure, regardless of the applied dose, was positive for the cultivation of radish, in terms of greater root and leaf biomass and radish diameter. On the other hand, in the cultivation in sandy soil, the application of manure does not seem to have positively interfered in the production of root and leaf biomass, regardless of the applied dose. In addition, with fertilization, a higher rate of radishes showed commercial potential.

    Light electric vehicles (LEV) of the electric skate type are traditionally built with a tractive system that makes use of synchronous belt transmission. In this work, a motor is proposed that is directly coupled to the wheel without the use of mechanical reductions. For this, usage data was collected on an electric skateboard built by the author, it was processed and torque and speed requirements were defined as well as torque and speed pairs vectorsthroughout the data collection course. For the design of the new engine, available stator geometries were analyzed and the best candidates selected using a spreadsheet. Of these, several variations were analyzed using the Motor XP-PM brushless motor design software, again the best candidates were selected and the performance data simulated in a virtual route equivalent to that used for data collection. The candidate motor chosen has dimensions of 93 mm in diameter and 109.5 mm in length, an 80 mm diameter stator with 24 teeth and a 28-pole rotor of class N42SH magnets. This is capable of a maximum torque of 31 N.m.

    The complex symbiosis in Attini ant nests inspires curiosity in different fields of research from Microbiology to Chemical Ecology. These ants cultivate their mutualist fungus for approximately 50 million years in structures well-known as fungi gardens. Attini ants need their mutualist fungus to get nutrients and essential enzymes for feeding. Other microorganisms, such as actinobacteria, produce antibiotics, which help to protect the ants against parasites, as the Escovopsis genus, that harm the whole nest. One of which important systems of agriculture in the Attine group is the leaf-cutting ants, of genus Atta and Acromyrmex, which cultivate only a specific species of fungus, Leucoagaricus gongylophorus, each one does not survive without the ants' mutualism. They are known as leaf-cutting ants due to their ability in cutting fresh leaves to cultivate the fungus and they have been characterized as an agricultural pest in Pinus and Eucalyptus forests. The new black yeast discovery in leaf-cutting ants cuticle was important to instigate studies on the chemical-ecological relationship upon other symbionts. Hence, this study aims to use different analytical tools to understand the chemical interactions between the leaf-cutting ants' symbiont microbes. The thesis was divided into three main parts: A) an approach over the co-cultures among different symbiont microbes, focusing on different methodologies; B) multivariate data analysis, molecular networking, mass spectrometry imaging, and biological assays about the ecological interaction of black yeast and parasite co-culture; C) an ecological function investigation of black yeast metabolites correlated to the antimicrobial activity in opposition to the actinobacteria. The findings of this work contribute with relevant information about the microbial interactions existing in leaf-cutting ant nests related to the black yeast, which was reported here for the first time. Nevertheless, next step experiments regarding the black yeasts have been showing promise in understanding more about this microbial complexity.

    The world electricity sector is undergoing a major revolution thanks to the birth and implementation of so-called Smart Grids or Intelligent Energy Grids. This revolution is centered on the massive and active use of data generated by these networks, using concepts such as Internet of Things, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. One of the key equipment for this revolution is the smart energy meters, which collect and send data that make the network “smart”. This work aims to present the development of a prototype energy meter, based on the concept of internet of things, low cost and open source.

    In E-Science context, diverse and varied research data are developed and generated in a collaborative way. These data can be shared with other researches, improving scientific development, publishing quality research and new scientific discoveries. However, as they are generated in a short period, with few conditions to be analyzed and identified, there is a risk of these data being lost due to poor preservation. Thus, research funding agencies begin to require a Data Management Plan document to researches, with the submission of their research projects. The academic libraries are part of this process as they help researchers provide Research Data Management services. Therefore, the goal of this research was to question and identify how the public academic libraries of the state of São Paulo are inserted in the process of research data management. The methodology used to accomplish this goals was a theoretical survey of the literature related to the Information Science; communication and scientific paradigms; Open Science, that allowed the identification of a direct interference of this theme in scientific practices, increased production of research data and the consequent need to manage and preserve them. From the perspective of the selected literature, an investigation and survey of research data management practices were made in the public academic libraries of the state of São Paulo identified in the FAPESP research data metasearch.

    Basic sanitation is an essential system for healthy people's quality of life and respect for the environment, consisting of four aspects: 1. collection, treatment and distribution of drinking water; 2. sewage collection, treatment and disposal; 3. collection, treatment and environmentally appropriate destination of solid waste; and 4. rainwater management and drainage. However, despite being institutionalized, this system is not homogeneously distributed in Brazil, and this critical situation requires knowledge and participation of people in all components of the aspects of sanitation, both for proper posture in favor of their systems involved, as well as for the universalization of its services. Through research in scientific initiation, it can be seen that the population interviewed in São Carlos-SP does not have knowledge about basic sanitation and its aspects, also verifying that it does not have adequate means for communicating about the system. Thus, interviews were conducted with organizations and institutions involved with basic sanitation in the city of study, to verify which methods were used for the existing communicative actions. It was possible to observe some flaws in the adopted processes, mainly in the lack of planning and frequency of the activities carried out. So, we sought suggestions from specialists in social communication in the city of São Carlos, through conversations and interviews, and, also, suggestions from scholars and specialists in themes involved in basic sanitation and the environment in Portugal. This latest investigation (in Portugal) was carried out remotely, through: 1. the realization of an online focus group; 2. the application of questionnaires via e-mail; and 3. interviews via virtual meetings. The suggestions obtained by the conversations and interviews (with Brazilian experts) emphasize the importance of providing protagonism to the people who will participate in the communicative action, inviting them to artistic interventions and storytelling, which involve through awareness. The suggestions obtained through research with Portuguese scholars and specialists elucidate how environmental communication can be more assertive, providing the possibility of dialogue for people who are participating in the action, making it a mutual learning effect. It became evident that personal and targeted contacts are essential to guarantee the success of communicative actions, bringing people together, bringing the human vision for the provision of sanitation services, as well as positive feelings for participation in its aspects. Successful actions are carried out with close communications between the interlocutors, in a consistent and constant manner, so that they are always remembered and incorporated into the daily lives of people using sanitation systems and the institutions that provide these services.
