Ratoon stunt (RSD), caused by Leifsonia xyli subsp. xyli (Lxx), is considered the main sugarcane disease for directly affecting yield crop. The disease is disseminated in all cultivars and states of the Country; still, little information under Brazilian conditions is available. The most recommended method in Brazil for RSD control are diagnostic test and thermotherapy of seedcanes. The serological diagnostic test is employed for the conventional billet planting while the PCR-based technique is preferred for the presprouted seedcane (MPB). Two combinations of thermotherapy are employed: 52°C/30min and 50°C/2h, the first higher treatment performance as well as higher failure to eliminate Lxx. Although Lxx titer may affect thermotherapy efficiency more data is sitll necessary on its importance for each of the thermotherapy combination. Also, more information is needed on early Lxx detection when contaminated seedcane is employed. Therefore, this work aimed at the following objectives: (a) determine the thermotherapy efficacy in seedcanes contaminated with different Lxx titer; (b) examine the interaction between sugacane age and Lxx detection; (c) evaluate the efficiency of serological and molecular detection technique on different ages of sugarcane. The experiment was carried out in field with six diseased treatments formed by two untreated ones with two distinct Lxx titer, and four treated with two combinations of thermotherapy and Lxx titer. Data collection started at seventh month after treatment, when sap extraction was possible and after that, monthly. Data showed: (a) thermotherapy was an important measure of RSD control, regardless the sampling age of plants, Lxx titer, and diagnostic technique; (b) both thermotherapy combination showed Lxx elimination failure; (c) Lxx was already detected in seven month plant regardless the Lxx titer; (d) failure of the thermotherapy was identified by both diagnostic techniques.

The coccoid green algae have simple morphology, morphological convergence and phenotypic plasticity, characteristics that hinders their correct identification. Molecular data have been insufficient for specific delimitation, and since Selenastraceae are asexual, the biological concept of species is not applicable. Thus, recent studies propose an integrative taxonomic approach, uniting several species concepts (eg. morphological, phylogenetic, physiological) for a more natural classification. Morphological analysis, although very useful and widely used, must consider phenotypic plasticity in the face of environmental variations. In this study, we evaluated the morphological plasticity of seven strains of three morphological species of Ankistrodesmus, A. densus, A. fusiformis e A. stipitatus, submitted to different conditions of temperature (23±1°C and 30±1°C), pH (7,0 and 8,5) and nitrogen concentration (1000 and 200 µM nitrate). We use cell length, width and biovolume as morphometric parameters. The control treatment was cultivated at 23±1°C, pH 7,0 e 1000 µM nitrate. The strains responded differently to different treatments, with length being the parameter with the least variation. The increase in pH significantly increased the cell width (by up to 27%) of all A. fusiformis strains, reflecting an increase up to 53% in the biovolume, while reduced the cellular width of the A. densus strain by 6%. The increase in temperature reduced the cell width in three strains of A. fusiformis, but one of then responded similarly to A. densus, increasing its width and biovolume. On the other hand, the comparison between species showed that cell length was significantly greater in A. densus, even considering the entire abiotic variation. In this way, the environmental variations altered the range of morphometric values used to identify the species, but for the selected strains, despite the plasticity, the cell length differed the species.

Smart materials and their applications in engineering for vibration control have been studied for some years and it has brought important discoveries and applications; in particular, one can mention piezoelectric materials, the type that has electromechanical coupling, in other words they have the ability to use their deformation to generate electric current and vice versa. In this monograph, the vibration-absorbing effect of piezoelectric material was investigated when connected to shunt circuits, which are designed to maximize energy dissipation trough the Joule effect. To meet this end, a cantiliever beam was used, simulating vibrating structure, a piezoelectric ceramic on each face of the beam, a shunt circuit and an accelerometer. Practical studies were carried out for the purely resistive case and computational studies for both purely resistive and resistive-inductive cases. The effectiveness of the piezoelectric+shunt was proven in the matter of mitigating vibrations, where, in the experimental case, there was a 25% decrease in the acceleration level. In the computational study, always considering the best vibration mitigation scenario, in the purely resistive case, the displacement after 0.2 second was half of what it was right after the impulse input (0.29 meter), while in the resistive-inductive case, after the same period of time had gone by, it was 98% smaller (0.01 meter). In terms of magnitude of vibration, the resistive-inductive scenario presented a value approximately, 83% smaller than the purely resistive case.

This study aims to carry out a reading of the collection of short stories Bichos (1940), by the Portuguese writer Miguel Torga (1907-1995), through the ecocritics, seeking to verify aspects related to environmental criticism and its contributions to questions about the condition of human life in its natural environment. Therefore, the analysis intended here will be divided into two stages, the first being aimed at delimit the concept of ecocritic and seek its dialogues with Torguian tales; and the second, in the reflection on the construction of these protagonists, with the articulation of four concepts that branch out: Bioethics, Biocentrism, Sustainability and Topophilia. It is known that literature intrinsically has a historical relationship with social media, and nature would be no different. However, the thoughts critics of human interference in nature and its ecological implications, which originated at the end of the 18th century, were only consolidated after the second half of the 20th century, as well as its echoes in literature. The work Bichos, by Miguel Torga, has its first publication in 1940, in a period prior to the stabilization of this line, but where one can already observe an effervescent incursion of these debates. So being, in a reading proposal from an anachronistic theoretical-critical path, I opted here for the analytical bias of ecocritic, leaving the paths already outlined in its critical fortune, with presentist and neorealist emphases. It is intended, therefore, underline the interaction between animals, including humans, with themselves and its physical space, allowing reflections and questions inserted in a critical debate, political and, above all, ecological of these relationships.

The importance of the subject indexing activity is perceived, among others, with the exponential creation of data and information in the digital environment, made possible by the development of information and communication technologies. In times of collaborative representation of information, how the specialized literature on subject indexing contemplates indexation policy guidelines directed to the specificities of collaborative representation of indexing is questioned. In this sense, the objective is to analyze the collaborative representation of information within the specialized literature of indexation policy, in order to verify how the Brazilian Information Science discusses the implications of this contemporary practice in researches on indexation policy, with emphasis on context advances and challenges on the topic. This is an exploratory and descriptive study with a qualitative and quantitative approach, with a mapping of the literature in the form of a scientific article dedicated to the theme. Data collection was carried out at Reference Database of Articles from Journals in Information Science, with the research corpus consisting of 5 documents, which were analyzed and interpreted to obtain the current research scenario that discusses the indexing policy in times of collaborative representation of information. In addition to the scarcity of literature dedicated to the issue, there is a lack of specific recommendations for the elaboration/updating of indexing policies for collaborative environments, especially institutional repositories.

The cultivation of corn has stood out among the activities of small producers, and its grain has been used in human and animal feeding, being one of the sources of daily energy for a large part of the population. The present study aimed to do a description of the production system of eight farmers in the Southwest of São Paulo State region in the 2018/2019 harvest to understand the practices carried out in the production of Creole corn seeds, through the application of a semi-structured questionnaire with personal and productive questions. The producers are part of the “Roteiro do Mileho” project and, among the farmers, 60% are male and 40% female, being distributed among the cities of Ribeirão Grande (50%), Capão Bonito (38%) and Guapiara (12%), focusing on production for human and animal consumption or for making handicrafts. The sowing, carried out mechanically and the harvest, carried out manually, occur in the months of August to September and February to March, respectively. Among the materials produced, priority was given to the production of materials with yellow seeds, with purple or white straw, in production systems, diversified considering the consortium of corn with beans and pumpkin. The greatest adversity found was the climate and it was identified that conventional cultivation practices are carried out, with little practice for the conservation and maintenance of Creole seeds. There were gaps in the understanding of the appreciation of Creole seeds, and the work carried out by entities representing workers in the process of conservation and dissemination of Creole seed knowledge is important, enabling farmers to understand more conservationist forms of cultivation.

Construção identitária profissional: percepção de graduandos de terapia ocupacional
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-01-15) Bertossi, Thaynara da Silva; Silva, Carla Regina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6417501858864106; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6817080912868220
Introduction: In Occupational Therapy, many of the elements that make up professional identity are questioned, and there is a debate between the desire for a single identity and the perception of identities as complex and dynamic, as long as there are common foundations. In this manner, the research sought to apprehend questions about the formation of professional identity from the perceptions of occupational therapy undergraduate students. Methodology: A questionnaire was developed using the Google® form, answered by 177 students from 23 institutions. Data were systematized using Excel and Word Clouds tools. Results and Discussion: The answers to the questionnaire about the perceptions of identity were analyzed by the categories “Knowledge, Practices and Postures”, “Public, Demands and Specialties” and “Social Function of the Profession”. The use of specific terms in the search for social recognition is revealed, in addition to professional attitudes as a characterization of identity. Various groups are mentioned, related to stigmas and social vulnerabilities, the ethical-political commitment of the profession to the subjects, and its consequent marginalization. Still, the influence of paradigm shifts is related to the objectives of the practice, however, the view of the incapacity-capacity binomial is maintained. Conclusion: It was possible to outline the main characteristics of the students' perceptions, however, it is still necessary to assess their influences under different cultural and educational aspects.

Biodiversity agroforestry systems are structured by agricultural crops and tree species distributed according to their successional group in a given area, in order to enrich a given environment, which can be used for economic purposes, reducing the exploratory harmfulness of a given area. The fact that these integrated and consortium systems do not follow the standards of modern agriculture creates a certain resistance to adoption, mainly because there is little information available about their economic viability. In order to contribute to the advancement of knowledge on this topic, the objective of this work was to evaluate the financial viability of an agroforestry arrangement implemented at the Embrapa Meio Ambiente Agroecological Site, in the city of Jaguariúna. This SAF (Agroforestry System) module was inspired by the model developed at the Sepé Tiaraju Settlement (Serra Azul - SP), on the occasion of the PDRS - Microbacias II project, which had technical support from Embrapa between 2015 and 2017. The evaluated area it has 0.04 hectares, being composed of two lines of fruit trees and a line of native trees for pruning, and in all lines the trees are interspersed with a banana (Musa spp.) every four meters. One line is made up of mombaça (Panicum maximum cv. Mombaça) grass, while the other line contains fast-growing species, such as green manure, vegetables, corn (Zea mays),, beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) and manioc (Manihot esculenta).. In order to be able to compare with other studies and systems, the data were extrapolated to one hectare. With the aid of the AmazonSAF spreadsheet, cash flow was calculated for a projected period of ten years, in addition to financial indicators such as VAE, VPL, RB / C, TIR, simple and discounted Payback. Some graphs were also generated that made it possible to better visualize the dynamics between costs, revenues, labor and the influence of each product on the final results. To reduce the sensitivity of the project, which may occur due to the variation in crop productivity, market prices, seasonality, among other multiple factors that interfere in the results, new indicators were generated through the simulation of a pessimistic scenario, in which they were considered prices found in wholesale markets. The scenario that considered direct sale values presented the TIR 62.48%, VPL of R $ 467,216.02, VAE of 31,537.67, Payback of 4 years and RB /C of 2.7. In the pessimist scenario, TIR of 34.18%, VPL of R$ 232,120.01, VAE of R$ 31,537.67, 5 years in payback and RB/C 1.9. The indicators showed that, in both scenarios, the agroforestry arrangement proved not only financially viable, but is also attractive for possible investments.

Relação entre características funcionais de folhas e seu conteúdo de nitrogênio e fósforo de onze espécies arbóreas tropicais

The survival and growth of tree species can be strongly related to morphological, physiological and phenological characteristics, since they determine their ability to acquire, use and conserve resources and are usually referred to as functional traits. The development of effective forest restoration strategies depends on an understanding of the relationships between functional traits and the probability of survival and growth of individuals. Functional leaf characteristics such as leaf area, specific leaf area and leaf dry matter content are related to the ability to obtain resources and the strategies for using resources by plant species and can be correlated with each other. This study experimentally evaluated the relationships between leaf characteristics and the relationship between these characteristics and the concentration of nitrogen and phosphorus in the leaves of eleven tree species that are commonly used in riparian forest restoration projects. Seedlings of these eleven species were planted in a degraded area, five species considered pioneer and six non-pioneer. The leaf area (LA), specific leaf area (SLA) and leaf dry matter content (LDMC) were measured from five individuals of each species. Leaf concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, potassium and sulfur were obtained from analyzes by the UFSCar laboratory following specific procedures. The specific leaf area was negatively correlated with the leaf dry matter content and AF was not correlated with either SLA or LDMC. Our results showed that nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium and potassium were positively correlated with the first axis of ACP. This axis was positively related to AFE and negatively related to CMSF. Pioneer species had higher values of these mineral elements in the leaves compared to non-pioneer species. Our study suggests that the concentrations of these minerals in the leaves may be indirectly related to the growth of plants and the resistance of plants to unfavorable environmental conditions found in degraded areas. The study showed that the specific leaf area was negatively correlated with leaf dry matter and that there is no correlation between the other characteristics. It also suggests that species with lower LDMC values had high values of SLA, being predominantly pioneer species, with leaves containing higher values of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, suggesting greater photosynthetic capacity and probably higher rates of relative growth. Some non-pioneer plants with high LDMC have greater resistance in the leaves, being able to withstand physical hazards and desiccation, which can be an advantage in environments with high light intensity and low soil fertility, conditions generally found in degraded areas.

Chatter is a self-excited vibration that is found in several machining processes and for this reason it is one of the main causes for bad superficial quality on the workpiece. Therefore, the need of minimizing vibrations has been an increasing demand to industries, that are always searching for efficiency in machining processes and products with a better surface quality. In conventional turning operations, these mechanical vibrations happens very frequently and one of the solutions to reduce it is on the use of piezoelectric materials combined to a shunt circuit. This set can be seen as a mechanism of passive damping when correctly projected and it has the feature of converting the mechanical vibration energy to electrical energy, which is dissipated through heat by the Joule effect. The objective of this paper is the modeling and the study of this device, which is able to reduce mechanical vibrations over the cutting tool in turning opeartions resulting in a better finishing on the workpiece. As a result, this work shows the functionality of the piezo-shunt device by the diagrams of frequency, step and impulse responses and also stability diagrams that verify the best configurations for the machining process.

Analyzing educational policies in the context of practice, it is possible to notice the secondary importance of Youth and Adult Education (EJA), which is related to Special Education from a history of denial of the educational rights, in which both were constituted through compensatory policies and welfare practices. In view of the scarcity of works that address Science Teaching at EJA in relation to students with intellectual disabilities and the importance of the teacher in relation to the ascension of these students, the research project in question has the general objective of: analyze the perspectives of Science teachers who act in Youth and Adult Education on students with intellectual disabilities, and as specific objectives: Characterize the conceptions of Science teachers about inclusion and the student with intellectual disability; (b) Characterize the pedagogical practices of Science teachers who work at EJA, specifically with students with intellectual disabilities; (c) Think about the process of including students with intellectual disabilities in EJA. The study has a qualitative approach and is characterized as a collaborative research in which, together with the researcher in the studies construction process, two science teachers working at EJA participated, one of whom had students with intellectual disabilities in their classroom. The research was carried out in a city in the interior of the state of São Paulo and the data collection procedures were divided at different times. At first, observations were made in the classroom, followed by interviews with a semi-structured script and individual reflective training meetings, built together with the participating teachers. The observations gave rise to field notes and the interviews and meetings were recorded and full transcribed. The collected data were categorized and analyzed based on the categorical content analysis. The data from the observations and interviews were used to carry out an analysis focused on the perspectives of the teachers in relation to different themes that involve the performance of the EJA Science teacher in relation to students with intellectual disabilities, and the reflective meetings were analyzed in in a way that aimed to characterize their possible reflections on the theme. The results demonstrate the different conceptions of teachers in relation to the Special Education and emphasize the training needs of specialist teachers in the face of students with intellectual disabilities and the importance of spaces that allow these teachers to reflect on their own practices, see themselves as transformers of their attitudes within the classroom and understand the countless possibilities of Science teaching as a helper for the effective teaching-learning process of students with disabilities. It is worth mentioning that the main demands brought by the participating teachers are the same and are not related to the particularities of the discipline they teach, which shows a need for training to general aspects of Special Education, despite the specific content of Science and the previous experience.

Youth and Adult Education (EJA) represents a new opportunity for people who, from an early age, were urged to abandon their studies to work, often in unfavorable conditions, resulting in gaps in their school education. In a complex and society that is centered on writing, returning to school is also a challenge, considering the peculiarities of this teaching modality in view of the students' learning needs. Faced with this challenge, learning the mother tongue is one of the most pressing needs of EJA students, since the lack in this area constitutes a strong factor of discrimination and social exclusion. In this scenario, the present study aims to analyze the manifestations of oral and written language of EJA students in the school context, based on the production of autobiographical narrations. The research, of a qualitative nature, seeks to answer the question: "What are the potentialities of Triggering Learning Situations to develop the linguistic competence of students of Youth and Adult Education through speaking and writing themselves?" In this direction, it was necessary to understand the literacy processes, as well as the dialogical and ideological relations present in the students' language manifestations, representing the challenges for the teaching-learning process of the Portuguese language. Founded on Leontiev's theory of activity (1903-1979), guided by the dialogic processes and the construction of knowledge that the school allows subjects, according to the assumptions of Paulo Freire (1921-1997), the study considers the autobiographical narrative text as a facilitator of dialogue / reflection of the lived reality and the improvement of writing. The research, of a participatory nature, has as methodological basis the analysis by isolates, in order to reflect how oral and reading contribute to the meaning processes of the speeches that circulate in the classroom and to understand how language can be an instrument of communication and expression of thoughts and reflection on reality. When analyzing the data, we seek to observe the active construction of knowledge by students and the interlocution between theory and practice in Youth and Adult education. The stages of development of the research were organized through a sequence of activities aimed at the production of autobiographical narrative texts with EJA students, involving aspects of orality, writing and reading. Recorded through videos, audios and photographs, the research showed the relevance of the texts under analysis for the learning of the mother tongue, as the students reported having acquired a greater perception of the reality they experienced and the Portuguese language, establishing relations between these two dimensions. As the study revealed, the experience of writing - mediated by the reflection of the reality of oneself and the world - can contribute to the appreciation of the students' stories and knowledge, acting as a stimulus in the search for new knowledge. It was found that the existence of effective teachers to attend this modality and to highlight the value of autobiographical narrative texts as a methodological resource for the classes of EJA, in addition to the possibility of appropriation of formal knowledge, and that can contribute, from a perspective dialogical and humanizing education, as a tool for reconstructing lived paths and (re) planning their life projects.

Superabrasive tools have been widely used in processes of modern material machining that are increasingly challenging. There are so many challenges that the superabrasive tools assume specific compositions designed exclusively for each of their purposes. Commonly these tools are classified according to the type of binder used for superabrasive grains agglutination. Superabrasive tools that use a metal monolayer as a binding agent are called single-layer superabrasive tools. Its increasing application in the industrial production sector has shown its great promising aspect. One of the methodologies used to make the metallic monolayer is nickel electroplating. In this context, the present work brings a detailed chemical approach to the steps that constitute the production chain of a single-layer superabrasive tool based on this methodology. It explores the richness of the chemical nature when considering the aspects involved, from the preparation of the base body to obtaining the finished product. It discourses regarding the importance of cleaning to promote good adhesion of electrodeposits. It highlights the phenomenon of electrolysis for the achievement of nickel electroplating, discussing the composition of the electrolyte solution and the operating parameters. In general, it exposes the different performances of nickel electrodeposits and their respective relevances throughout the production process, which can be mentioned: protection of the part surface, superabrasive grains agglutination, and a bright finish.

The constructed wetland (or Filter Garden) is a technology for treating domestic effluents that has been increasingly explored, with the advantage of low cost of maintenance, implementation and operation, as well as the possibility of reusing treated water for various uses. However, in a treatment system with recirculation of water directed at fish production, the evaluation and understanding of the efficiency of the aeration system used is essential to guarantee the quality of life of the fish and, consequently, a high production. Thus, the present study had as main objectives: to analyze the performance of a subsurface vertical flow filtering garden in the treatment of an effluent from a fish farming tank with water recirculation, in São Carlos, SP; and to evaluate the efficiency of the gravity aeration system established downstream of the filter garden. The analyzed filter garden has two subsystems: P (filter garden) and C (aeration cascades), where four and seven points were collected during nine days, respectively. The parameters analyzed were: pH, Temperature, Chlorophyll A, Electrical Conductivity (EC), Turbidity and Dissolved Oxygen (DO). The methodology for analyzing the limnological parameters of the filter garden consisted of comparing the data collected with the literature and performing the non-parametric tests by Friedman and Wilcoxon, with a 95% confidence level. As main results, it was observed that the effluent water returns to the fish farming tank with the appropriate temperature, turbidity, pH and DO for the fish farming according to CONAMA resolution nº 357/05 and the literature. The results of the non-parametric tests showed a significant difference in the subsystem P of the variables EC and turbidity; and in subsystem C, the variables pH, temperature and DO. Regarding the evaluation of the efficiency of the aeration system by gravity, the applied methodology consisted of the estimation of the saturation concentration (Cs), of the reaeration coefficient (Kla) and of the efficiency coefficient (K). The results obtained were compared with the specialized literature. As main results, it is noteworthy that the Cs presented the percentage of saturation recommended by the literature for fish culture. The value of the reaeration coefficient (Kla) varied between 0.03 and 0.2/min for any temperature of the effluent, framing the performance of the aeration system as superior to what is found in rapids and falls in natural waters. Finally, when comparing the results obtained from the efficiency coefficient K with the models described in the literature, it was observed that, according to the model by Barret, Gameson and Ogden, from the fifth collection on, the effluent was classified as "clean water". Following the Pomeroy model, the effluent was classified as "clean water" after the second collection. The results were satisfactory and proved the potential of the filter garden and the gravity aeration system. This work is linked to a project prepared, financed and executed by Embrapa and co-financed by BNDES, for improvement of the Brazilian aquaculture production
