The population increase has caused several environmental problems such as contamination of aquatic bodies by organic compounds and the emission of CO2 in the atmosphere. An alternative to mitigate these impacts is Heterogeneous Photocatalysis, which is based in the use of irradiated semiconductors to oxidize organic compounds by the generation of highly oxidizing radicals, such as •OH and O2•-, or yet to reduce CO2, converting it in higher value-added products. However, a limitation is the high electron/hole (e-/h+) pair recombination rate. One way to reduce this problem is the coupling of two semiconductors in an interface in common, forming heterostructures, which allows the charge separation, prolonging their lifetime. Nb2O5 is a promising material in several fields due to its properties, including in photocatalytic processes. Additionally, it is of national interest since it can be obtained from Niobium Ammoniacal Oxalate, a byproduct from mining process. SnO2 also has physical and chemical properties suitable for applications in environmental systems. However, its energy bands do not favor its direct application in heterogeneous photocatalysis. On the other hand, the junction with Nb2O5 presents an adequate band structure for Type II heterostructure formation. This heterostructure type enables the migration of the h+ to a semiconductor, while the e- accumulates in the another, increasing the lifetime these photogenerated charge. In this work, several synthesis variables, such as precursors, synthesis temperature and time, were studied in a process based on hydrothermal treatment. The samples were characterized by XRD, Raman Spectroscopy, FTIR, DRS, SEM-EDS and SEM-FEG, N2 Fisisorção e Zeta potential. Besides that, the samples were used in different processes, such as photodegradation of organics pollutants in water, removal of contaminants via adsorption and CO2 photoreduction. The results demonstrated that the attempt to obtain Nb2O5/SnO2 heterostructures was successful, since heterostructured materials presented higher performance in different processes, when compared to isolated materials, showing the heterostructure versatility, which can be used as a single platform for the remediation of different problems.

Aproximações entre humanidades digitais e organização do conhecimento
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-03-19) Andrade, Laura Mariane de; Dal'Evedove, Paula Regina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1170937498266968; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3971375597734790
In the last decades, a new field of research has emerged and has been consolidated, namely the Digital Humanities that, in the integration of traditional Human Sciences in digital environments, determine their particularities by renewing the humanistic praxis. Due to their transdisciplinarity character, debates involving Digital Humanities in Information Science have been increasingly stimulated, as they can contribute to the resources understanding and appropriation, making both areas interrelated under an emerging theme for Information Science, ideally in Knowledge Organization. In order to identify how studies in the Knowledge Organization universe incorporate digital technologies added to the humanities, the purpose is to present a study on scientific configuration of Knowledge Organization that works with the Digital Humanities from Science of Information, more specifically (1) identifying the presence of Digital Humanities in Information Science and their approach to themes of Knowledge Organization; (2) rescuing the Knowledge Organization as an interdisciplinary field of knowledge and às an investigative space for issues related to content in the digital environment representation; and (3) analyzing the scenario presented by international scientific papers with the help of Iramuteq software and how the most consistent studies in Knowledge Organization reveal the Digital Humanities absorption. For that, we resort to bibliographic research, collection, application of the Iramuteq software to obtain textual analysis in 96 papers abstracts collected from international databases with scope of Digital Humanities and Knowledge Organization, and, finally, a qualitative analysis of 25 papers from one of the classes identified by the software closest to the research proposal. The analysis reveals the terminological insertion of Digital Humanities in discussions inherent to Knowledge Organization is not scarce, however such researchers find it difficult to theorize, discuss and appropriate epistemological domains of Knowledge Organization and Digital Humanities. We conclude that initiatives consistency that link Digital Humanities to the object of investigation of information scientists seems to be a consensus for appropriation by the Knowledge Organization and establishment of Digital Humanities in their context, especially in a society increasingly mediated by digital.

Dog Hero, tutores e pets: antropomorfismo animal e mobilidades contemporâneas
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-03-19) Barros, Lucas Benegas; Santos, Mateus Augusto dos; Ferragi, Cesar Alves; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8059661338196579; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5281603246522503
This dissertation summarizes the elements that put on evidence the attenuation of human-animal anthropomorphic relationship due to accentuated mobilities in contemporary society. These phenomenons are discussed in order to analyze and understand how a socio-affective relationship between owners and pets can impact when an individual person wishes to make tourism. In order to achieve this goal, a bibliographic review was made on the subjects of animal anthropomorphism, hospitality, the pet market and mobilities. A case was built, following the content analysis process, in order to understand how the DogHero platform works. It is a startup with an alternative mindset capable of offering a resolution between the fluidity and influidity paradigm of individuals who wants to travel around the world and also be good pet owners. In addiction, a questionnaire was elaborated and disseminated through the google forms platform. The main objective was to understand and correlate the bibliography study and the case with the demand of contemporary dog owners. The conclusion of the study implies the paradox created by anthropomorphism and mobilities impacts directly on how pet owners make tourism and, despite a mindset that approaches the studied elements and prioritizes connection between people to generate trust, the DogHero platform is not recognized by the majority of the owners interviewed on this research. This may put on evidence there are a lot more study subjects to explore about pet market latencies surrounding risk and trust.

Since originally proposed by Shewhart in the 1920s, control charts are widely used by manufacturing companies to monitor and control production processes. The purpose of the control charts is to detect special causes so that corrective actions are taken, whenever necessary, ensuring stability and capacity to the process. Over the years, production systems have changed. The concept of lean manufacturing has gained more space and the use of Shewhart control charts in these environments has been questioned. Specific methods were developed from there, due to the possibility of fundamental assumptions violation and unavailability of data for an accurate parameters estimation. Among the main specific methods, there is the deviation from nominal control chart. However, Montgomery (2014) highlights some essential aspects, such as, for example, the influence of process variation on its performance. This work studies the effect of parameters estimation and the influence of process variation on the deviation from nominal control chart performance through the Average Run Length (ARL) method and proposes some adjustments on the control limits so that its use is optimized in small production batches. For this, the research method used was modeling and computer simulation. The results found validated the propositions presented by the literature, verifying that the control charts built with estimated parameters, instead of known ones, present a lower performance than expected. There was a significant influence of the process variation on the performance of the control chart. However, it has also been demonstrated that small adjustments on the control limits can make it enable on lean manufacturing environments.

The terms disinformation and fake news are used to denote false information or rumors that are mostly published on social networks, which often aim to manipulate public opinion or defame something or someone. This scenario increases in tandem with the ease of producing information on the web. Thus, the present study seeks to relate the topic of disinformation, fake news and information literacy - topics studied in Information Science - to Higher Education. Discussions about information literacy address the user's ability to recognise the need for certain information and have the necessary skills to locate, evaluate and use it in order to meet their need. This research is of a descriptive-exploratory nature as a way of identifying content related to the topic of information literacy in the curriculum of the undergraduate course in Library and Information Science at the Federal University of São Carlos and verifying whether such content contributes to reducing the sharing of disinformation and fake news by students. For the structuring of the research, a bibliographical survey of scientific publications on the subject was carried out, using the subjects ‘information literacy’, ‘post-truth’, ‘disinformation’, ‘fake news’ and ‘agnotology’. For data collection, a questionnaire was applied virtually to students in the first and fourth years of the undergraduate course. The data were analysed using a qualitative and quantitative approach in order to identify the level of information literacy of students from the questions answered based on indicator two of standard three of the Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association. According to indicator two of standard three, an information literate student must be able to master and use initial methods of evaluating information and its sources. After the study, the hypothesis that there are subjects in the course that have content that relate to the development of skills related to information literacy was proven. The identified disciplines are related to the use of ICT; the recognition of how information is developed, manipulated, organised, stored, made available and disseminated; skills related to research techniques and awareness of the ethical and legal use of information. Of the 16 subjects identified, only 6 are offered in the first year of the course, which puts first year students at a disadvantage when compared to those in the fourth year. The disciplines contribute to the development of skills related to the development of information literacy by addressing content related to information literacy. In addition, after analysing the responses to the questionnaire, it was found that first year students are more likely to share misinformation on social networks, since the rate of verification of such content is lower than that of fourth year students, which reinforces the hypothesis that the curriculum of the course tangibly contributes to the development of information literate students.

In recent decades, studies and discoveries related to carbon nanostructures have been intensified, mentioning carbon nanotubes, graphene and their derivatives. These structures have unique physical and chemical properties, attributed to their structures, and can be applied in different areas. In the area of biomedicine, carbon nanostructures are highlighted for their biocompatibility with the human body. Amorphous carbon films have great potential to be applied in implant coating, as graphene and its derivatives also have such potential. However, conventional synthesis methods require high temperature, reaching 1000° C. Thus, the plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) method has been explored to synthesize carbon nanostructures, due to relatively large-scale production and at low treatment temperature. The objective of this work is the production and characterization of carbon nanostructures by the PECVD technique with a DC-pulsed source, using substrates of copper, nickel, titanium and stainless steel 304. The growth of carbon nanostructures was carried out through the use of CH4 precursors and H2 using oxide films of substrates as catalyst, studying the influence of stress on the formation of the catalyst and the influence of the addition of argon and total gas flow on the growth of carbon nanostructures. The techniques for the characterization of the formed nanostructures were X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electrochemical measurements. The results obtained proved to be promising for the production of carbon nanostructures by PECVD, which technique favored the growth of graphene, carbon nanotube and DLC films on oxidized substrates as a function of treatment parameters at temperatures below the conventional one. Argon was shown to be necessary to obtain crystalline structures, such as graphene and carbon nanotubes. The graphene produced had 2 to 5 layers and the carbon nanotubes have multiple walls. The materials obtained presented good quality and could be used in several areas. Thus, the PECVD technique using pulsed DC source was effective in obtaining characteristic structures of graphene, carbon nanotube and amorphous carbon at low temperature, obtained according to the treatment parameters.

This research moves to give visibility to the struggle to maintain the spaces, knowledge, and practices of an Afronative community, whose border territory is an area of conflict involving the ethnic-racial issues triggered, especially, by the expansion of the agricultural frontier in the Midwest region driven by national integration policies. Established as the headquarters of the Capitania of Mato Grosso, Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade becomes a space for Blacks and Natives after the transfer of capital and departure of the elite to Cuiabá in the nineteenth century. With this change, the population that remained in the place constituted new relations and changes in the landscape. Given the return of White people (the “other”) to the city in the 1960s, transformations in the use of the territory and the way of life of residents redefine ethnic and symbolic boundaries, as well as resignification with the spaces. Considering that identity is reconstituted from differences, as fluid and fragmented, the Black women of Vila Bela fraternize with the Chiquitanas, appropriating the legacies left by their ancestors, and constitute the Afrochiquitania to resist the “other” who expropriated their lands and tries to occupy their spaces. In this context of conflicts, oppression, (re)constructions that this research intends to take, to try to understand the dynamics of overcoming the differences and inequalities experienced since the quilombola resistance of Tereza de Benguela, in the eighteenth century, until the contemporaneity in the daily anonymity experienced by the women of Vila Bela. Walking in the female “universe” with their stories and memories seeks to analyze what mechanisms these women use to ensure belonging to the place and reaffirm their ethnic identity.

With technological advances, daily tasks have been modified, especially the activities that streamline, interact, and relate us to the platforms, applications and webservices that enable the production of information. Given this advance, it is also seen great challenges such as the difficulty ofaccessing, using and reusing data and information that are published on the Web. In this cenario, several professionals seek an improvement to the Web and improve the user experience in this environment and a representation of information in an appropriate and efficient way. Related to the context of music, is seen a great flow of information, about music, history, and related people, such as music artists who have great cultural appeal. However, viewing the information of these artists may not be in accordance with what the user wants or does not allow the user to find other artists or informational resources related to it. For this reason, the problem of this research is to investigate how resource description and access (RDA) and virtual international authority file (VIAF) help in publishing authority data for music artists? Thus, the general objective of this research is to systematize the guidelines and descriptions presented by VIAF and the RDA for the publication of authority data for music artists. As for methodological procedures, this research is a qualitative, theoretical, and exploratory research that addresses the themes: representation of information, authority data, metadata, metadata patterns, authority data of music artists. The results present the guidelines of resource description and access (RDA) and the Virtual International Authority File (VIAF), initiatives that have addressed the cataloging processes, in addition to the restructuring of catalogs based on the conceptual models of the FR Family andthe IFLA LRM model, as well as the perspective on the relationships between entities and the definition of their attributes. In the context of the representation of music artists and bands (collective entity), the use of these guidelines helps in the control and definition of authority and an exhaustiveness of the relationships between each authority. When analyzing RDA guidelines, guidelines were verified to describe the attributes of entities and their relationships, all in a practical and flexible way. VIAF, in turn, raises the issue of sharing the records of people and collective entities. Thus, the RDA and VIAF collaborated positively in the development of examples of description of authority data. It is considered that their contributions of this research are linked to the time savings of a user, due to the creation of access points for a recovery of authority in a more adequate andefficient way, in addition, with a record that presents correct information directly and with basis, the user in addition to recovering what needs, recognizes and finds other artists of music who at some point related.
