    The employment of biodegradable polymers is a partial solution to the problem of environmental plastic pollution, since conventional polymers are resistant to many environmental influences and it may take centuries for them to disappear completely from nature. Despite the environmental benefits and technical properties suitable for many applications, biodegradable polymers are generally limited by their performance and cost, which are relatively less attractive than conventional polymers. The residual fiber (RF), which is a by-product of the orange juice industries, can be plasticized with glycerol, under high temperatures and shear strain, resulting in the thermoplastic fiber (TPF). The use of TPF can reduce the costs of biodegradable polymers, enhance their biodegradability, and add value to agro-industrial waste. Thus, injected poly(butylene succinate), or PBS, specimens were produced with TPF additions in up to 50% mass fraction. The impacts of TPF content in PBS were evaluated by mechanical (tensile testing), thermal (Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Thermogravimetric Analysis), rheological, morphological (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and molecular weight (Size Exclusion Chromatography) analyses, in addition to the simulation of weight loss by burial. Although TPF did not significantly modify the PBS molecular weight, the rheological experiments have shown a trend for the formation of a physical interaction network with TPF additions from 30% onwards. Despite evidences of adhesion between the pectin/lignocellulosic fiber and pectin/PBS phases, the mechanical properties of the compounds were reduced, which was suggested to be due to excess glycerol and/or TPF mechanical characteristics. The weight loss, the appearance of a population with lower molecular weight, and the formation of holes on the PBS/50TPF surface, compared to the PBS surface, substantiate that TPF has potential to enhance the biodegradability of plastic products.

    The teaching of Mathematics nowadays is facing great difficulties with disinterest of the students in learning the contents, considered for some as a hard job and no return for a future life, as professional though in person, on majority of times they are taught formulas and rules with no explanation of utility of the same subject. Being the functions one of the contents ignored by the students, the objective of this job is to check the student development through a practical application involving Cryptography and functions, bringing subjects of daily, as well as cryptography found in diverse as quite, principally electronics, the classes and the practical utilization differentiated such as game, exercises and computation tools, which culminate a learning of more significant with better performance and a bigger disposition of the students during the classes of this subject.

    The structural systems critical point of flat slabs happens on the connection slab-column through the shearing stressing concentrations which may lead to the punching phenomenon. According to the literature, there are multiples factors that influence on the punching phenomenon, and many theoretical and experimental research have been developed willing to comprehend its behavior and then estimate the connection slab-column punching resistance. However, yet there is no sizing model completely accept by the technical scientific community which is able to estimate and explain such phenomenon and all of its influence parameters. In this context, this study aims proposing, by statistical analysis applied to experimental studies, a limit punching tensile strength predictor equation of the internal slab-column connection, with no shear reinforcement and symmetrical loading, on reinforced concrete edifications. Therefore, it has been evaluated the punching resistance predictor models presented by the literature and the mainly norms through a vast database containing the manly punching influencers parameters. The proposed model, based on only five real model variables – Slab geometry (Geo), Pillar dimension (L), useful slab height (d), concrete compression resistance (fc) and bending bar rate (ρ) – estimated the limit punching tensile strength (Pu) on internal slab-column connection with a 3% error order and R2 adj = 97.28%.

    Due to population growth and an increasing motorized vehicle fleet worldwide, road safety is still a global challenge that persists despite the awareness campaigns and the legal enforcement instruments. Most of the road safety risk factors are completely preventable, and in this sense the drunk-driving needs a special attention since a few doses of alcohol can be enough to impair motor and sensory functions required for safe driving. Hence, an individual in such condition may represent a road safety risk even presenting a blood alcohol concentration within the local legal limits. Since drunk-driving is a recurrent problem, in this master thesis we proposed a complementary method for drunk drivers enforcement considering the physiological responses induced by alcohol as intoxication indicatives. We addressed the drunkenness classification problem by identifying facial temperature distribution behaviors related to alcohol consumption. Such features were extracted from individuals facial thermal images in both drunk and sober states by a Convolutional Neural Network, which enabled the automatic pose invariant feature extraction and the model inference interpretation. This approach allowed us to identify temperature variations between the forehead and nose regions as a drunkenness indicative and also to identify an asymmetric facial temperature distribution in inebriated individuals that was not showed by previous studies. Hence, we were able to demonstrate a relation between facial temperature distribution patterns and the alcohol metabolic cycle; evidencing the viability of using images to recognize physiological effects caused by alcohol.

    Developing new strategies and tools to analyze the dynamics of water resources can help change the paradigm in city planning, optimizing decision-making, to help cities to remain hydraulically secure through investments that transform opportunities into solutions, and facing the adversities. The term Resilience has been gaining notoriety and supporters, both in academia and in management, for the development of applicable interdisciplinary tools and models since 2010, when the UN used the term to define cities capable of efficiently recovering from effects of any kind of risks and disasters. However, Urban Water Resilience (UWR) is still a term that has been little studied, approached, systematized, and applied in research related to the management of water resources. Thus, this work was motivated by the need to obtain interpretive data for the theme of UWR, considering its potential and importance regarding the construction of Resilience in general. Given the above, this research aims to propose guidelines and strategies for the incorporation of the UWR in municipalities based on the use of indicators. To achieve the intended objective, the direct or indirect presence of UWR in Municipal Plans of medium-sized Brazilian cities that are signatories of the international program Making Cities Resilient: My City is Getting Ready program was sought. In the next step, the Urban Water Systems (Water Supply, Sanitary Sewage, and Urban Drainage) were analyzed from the Components and Variables related to the UWR. Then, indicators associated with systematized variables were proposed, which were used in the proposed method for the incorporation of the UWR by the municipalities. As a result, it was observed that none of the Municipal Plans explicitly mention the term Resilience, although some aspects have been considered directly or indirectly. The systematization carried out resulted in fifteen Components and thirty-nine Variables, for which fifty-three Indicators were proposed that allow the monitoring of the UWR. Although the common practice of Brazilian cities in the division of Urban Water Systems has been maintained, an important advance towards making the city more resilient would be through integrated management of these, considering the UWR. Adopting the paradigm of unification of Water Systems and taking into account UWR will enable cities to assess the present and build the future by becoming water-safe cities.

    The CTS field is an area that contributes to the potential of studies, as is the case of the present one, which involves the subject of Bachelor of Gerontology and its professional performance. Recognizing the relevance of this professional in the face of population dynamics, this study aimed to analyze the social dimensions contemplated in the formation and performance of the Bachelor of Gerontology graduated by the teaching institutions University of São Paulo (USP) and Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) , based on the analysis of the performance present in the Pedagogical Political Project of both academic curricula from the Lattes Platform and profiles from the LinkedIn Social Network. It was a study with plurimethodological procedures, composed of documentary research and netnographic research with publicly accessible data. The skills contained in the Political Pedagogical Projects Bachelor's Degree in Gerontology are highlighted, highlighting the emphasis on the management of organizations, programs and services, as well as the expanded concept of health placed in the demands of aging, as well as intersectoral and interdisciplinary actions, with adherence to the field CTS. The emerging visibility of the Bachelor of Gerontology in sectors and work fronts aligned with the training project is evident, challenging, however, training, especially with regard to professional practices and internship fields, in the sense of prospecting demands and creating opportunities for the interdisciplinary work of the Bachelor.

    This paper analyzes an apparent "new way of doing politics" and the change in the interest-state relationship, seeking, within the Argentine oil company Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales (YPF), the circulation and conversions of the company's board directors and executive directors between 2002 and 2020. The objective of the Thesis is to analyze the life trajectories of the board directors and executive directors of the Argentine oil company YPF, in the period 2002-2020, in the search for their attributes to create ideal types that allow us to think about the interest-State relationship. The research, based on the reflexive sociology of Pierre Bourdieu, is predominantly qualitative and uses prosopography method to immerse in the common characteristics of the group of directors of the company through a collective study of their lives. We argue that there could be cases in which directors, after passing through the company, create intermediary companies with which they will sell their services to YPF, which could be a new way of co-opting the State. We found five ideal types of directors: The classic, directors who have spent their entire labor life in the company; the interlocker, advisors who sit in more directories besides YPF; the revolving door, directors entering and leaving the civil service to the private sphere; the consultant/lobbyist who after YPF's departure creates his consulting firm or sells influence; and, the transgressor, who after leaving the company creates his own energy company.
