listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Avaliação de isolados de Bacillus spp. quanto à sua capacidade de promover crescimento em mudas de tangor Murcott(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Ferreira, Lucas Campos; Rossi, Fabrício; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0621862166341833; Kupper, Katia Cristina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7900622063392740; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2935117320982075Citriculture is currently one of the main agricultural activities in Brazil in the fruit growing segment. However, several factors can influence the crop's productivity indices, such as the quality of the seedlings, and its good formation, vigor and health are essential. Therefore, the choice of a quality rootstock is of great importance, since it has a direct influence on the citrus plant aerial parts. The use of microorganisms with potential to promote plant growth may represent a new perspective in crop management, considering the influence they exert on plant nutrition and health, even generating lower environmental impacts on ecosystems. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to evaluate bacteria as growth-promoting agents for Murcott tangor seedlings grafted onto different citrus rootstocks. A total of 10 Bacillus spp. isolated were evaluated in vitro for: indoleacetic acid (IAA) production, phosphate solubilization and nitrogen fixation. The in vivo tests consisted of assays to evaluate bacterial isolates for growth promotion on two different rootstocks: Swingle citrumelo (Citrus paradisi × Poncirus trifoliata) and Rangpur lime (Citrus limonia), which after 300 days were grafted with Murcott tangor (C. sinensis x C. reticulata). The parameters of interest analyzed were the height of the rootstock at 60, 120, 240 and 300 days after sowing and then, at 480 days after sowing (180 days after grafting), the following were evaluated: the total height of the plant, graft height, root length, number of leaves, root and aerial parts green mass and aerial parts dry mass. The results showed that all bacterial isolates were able to produce AIA, to solubilize phosphate, and to fix nitrogen; under laboratory condition; the Bacillus spp. ACB-07 had a positive effect on the growth of Murcott tangor seedlings grafted on Swingle citrumelo, while the isolate ACB-08 showed potential as a growth promoter in Murcott tangor seedlings grafted on Rangpur lime, it was found that the ability of a bacterial isolate to promote the growth of Murcott tangor seedlings depends, among other factors, on the variety of rootstock used.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Fatores sócio-familiares associados ao reconhecimento de expressões faciais das emoções em idosos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Ianagui, Camila Corrêa; Costa-Guarisco, Letícia Pimenta; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9170509383468366; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3491971442040116Facial expressions are an important source of communication, both for transmission and recognition of the emotional state of the person who communicates. Demographic factors such as gender, age, and education may be related to performance on tasks of recognition of facial expressions of emotions (REFE). Few studies analyze the relationship between REFE and socio-family support in the elderly. Therefore, the study aims to verify if there is a relationship between social and family support with the recognition of facial expressions of emotions in participants of a community center for the elderly. This is a cross-sectional, observational, and descriptive study, carried out in a Community Center for the elderly in a city in the State of São Paulo. Those who did not understand the proposed assessments or who had cognitive impairment or severe depressive symptoms were excluded from the research. The study sample consisted of 30 volunteers, 4 men, and 26 women, with an average age of 69 years. Questionnaires were used to assess the socio demographic situation of the participants, family functionality through the “Family APGAR”, social support through the Medical Outcomes Study (MOS); and the instrument to assess the ability to recognize facial expressions of emotions “Penn Emotion Recognition Test”. Questionnaire performance was correlated with performance on the REFE task using Spearman correlation. It was observed that increased education is related to better performance in recognizing the emotion sadness (p = 0.027). The scores obtained in the Apgar Family Test and the Material Support domain of the MOS test had a negative and statistically significant correlation with the emotion fear (r = -0.586 and p = 0.001; r = -0.541 p = 0.002, respectively). In the Affective domain, also of the MOS test, a statistically significant positive correlation was observed (r = 0.379 and p = 0.042) with the neutral emotion in the REFE task. It was concluded that social support, more specifically material support, and family functionality influence the facial recognition of the expression of fear in the elderly.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Avaliação do autocuidado, apoio social e sua associação com variáveis sociodemográficas em pessoas com fibromialgia(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Nunes, Isadora; Avila, Mariana Arias; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5905617922199364; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2047531294229440Introduction: Understanding the sociodemographic characteristics, social aspects and self-care of users monitored in health services helps in a more accurate diagnosis and in the development of care plans adapted to the difficulties of each individual. However, this is not what happens with people who suffer from fibromyalgia syndrome (FS), as many health promotion actions are implemented without considering the specifics of the target audience. Objective: To assess the relationship of self-care and social support with sociodemographic variables in people with SF. Methods: This is an observational and cross-sectional study, carried out with 190 participants who met the FS diagnostic criteria of the 2016 American College of Rheumatology, of both genders. The collection took place through an online form that presented: a sociodemographic characterization questionnaire, the Revised Self-Care Agency Scale (Appraisal of Self-Care Agency Scale – Revised -ASAS-R), the Medical Outcomes Social Support Scale Study (Social Support Scale from the Medical Outcomes Study-SSS-MOS) and the Fibromyalgia Knowledge Questionnaire (FKQ). The research was approved by the institutional Ethics Committee (CAAE: 35769020.20000.5504). A descriptive statistical analysis of the data sample was used in which calculations of both absolute and relative frequencies, mean and median, standard deviation were performed, we also performed the mann Whitney test, correlation test (parametric or non-parametric) and linear regression simple Results: There was a weak correlation between age and social support (p=0.004; r=-0.208). Monthly income (p≤0.001; r=0.310) and educational level (p≤0.001; r=0.312) showed a moderate correlation with specific knowledge in SF, indicating that these higher socioeconomic variables infer a better knowledge in SF. Self-care agency showed a weak correlation with educational level p=0.004; r=0.207) and monthly income (p=0.002; r=0.224). Despite these weak correlations, we can deduce that people with a higher educational and socioeconomic level will have a greater agency of self-care. The comparison test revealed that people who have a partner perceive social support better when purchased from those who do not have a partner (p=0.002 ) Relating self-care with social support, we can infer that people with good social support have better self-care (p=<0.001; r=0.44), simple linear regression shows that people with a good perception of social support have 19 % of chances of good self-care practice The correlation of specific knowledge in FH shows a negligible relationship with self-care. Conclusion: Having this in mind, we conclude that people with higher socioeconomic variables infer in better knowledge in FH and self-care agency, we also conclude that the individual has greater knowledge in SF does not indicate that he will have better self-care management, therefore o It is relevant an education focused mainly on this issue of carrying out the practice of self-care, encouraging the implementation of routine habits that will help in coping with the FH and its associated symptoms, moreover, interventions in care and public health policies need to be focused mainly on the importance of aspects such as empathy, emotional expression, counseling and guidance and social support as a whole; awareness and knowledge of patients with fibromyalgia.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Perda auditiva e progressão da fragilidade em idosos em contexto de vulnerabilidade social(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Silva, Elen Vitória Znta Nocera da; Costa-Guarisco, Letícia Pimenta; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9170509383468366; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7526878262273676Introduction: Hearing loss is considered the most common sensory deficit in the elderly, affecting communication and leading to social isolation and has recently been associated with frailty in the elderly. We verified whether hearing loss is related to the progression of frailty in the elderly. Method: Longitudinal research with 345 elderly evaluated in 2015 and 223 re-evaluated in 2017, composing two cohorts: cohort 1, of non-frail individuals and cohort 2, of pre-frail individuals at baseline. Frailty scores were compared between 2015 and 2017 to verify the progression of frailty. 68 elderly were excluded for being frail in 2015. Logistic regression was used to check association between hearing and progression of frailty. Results: 17% worsened Frailty within two years. The cohorts differed in gender, age and frailty progression, with cohort 1 having slightly younger elderly (p<0.001), women (p<0.008) and more cases of frailty progression (p<0.000). Other health characteristics did not differ in the composition of the cohorts. Sociodemographic, health, cognition, depression and hearing variables were studied in each cohort according to frailty progression. There was no factor related to frailty progression in cohort 1; however, among individuals in cohort 2, age, presence of comorbidity, and restricted hearing participation were related to frailty progression. Restricted hearing participation had a 2.7 times greater chance of frailty progression compared to those without restricted hearing participation (p<0.043). However, after controlling the model for age and comorbidity the association between restricted hearing participation and frailty progression did not hold. Conclusion: Although restricted hearing participation has been shown to be related to frailty progression, age and the presence of comorbidity were the determining factors for the worsening of pre-frail individuals.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Engajamento em fantasia e amigos imaginários: perspectivas dos pais e relações com teoria da mente, função executiva e linguagem(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Velludo, Natalia Benincasa; Souza, Debora de Hollanda; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3640676759708745; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9252163931721056In Brazil, there are several studies on symbolic play, however, only a few are focused on investigating high engagement in fantasy, as in lasting and elaborate forms of pretend play – in particular, the creation of imaginary companions and pretend identities. The present work aimed, therefore, to contribute in this direction by investigating the nature of these two forms of pretend play, as well as by testing possible correlations between high engagement in pretend play, theory-of-mind development and executive functions. Based on evidence of positive and negative associations of these elaborate forms of fantasy, a second goal was to investigate the attitudes of preschoolers’ parents on their possible pretend creations. In the first exploratory study, eight 3-year-olds (Mage = 43,4 mos; SD = 1,6 mo) were assessed by a receptive vocabulary test (PPVT), by the Theory-of-Mind Scale and by four executive function tasks. Children were also interviewed in order to obtain data on their predisposition to imagination, the creation of imaginary companions (or not) and personification. Moreover, five caregivers (one father and four mothers) participated in this first study and filled a questionary including questions about their children’s preferences in different contexts (e.g., favorite toys, stories, TV shows and play) and questions regarding the sociodemographic characteristics of participants (e.g., parents’ education level and occupation, number of family members). Non-parametric statistical analyses revealed that children’s performance was not different from chance on the EF tasks; it was below chance on the theory-of-mind scale and, consequently, no significant differences were found between the group of children classified as having high or low fantasy engagement. Results from this first study pointed to the need for important methodological changes, in particular, the change to another age group (4- and 5-year-olds) and an increase in sample size in order to find greater variability in terms of fantasy engagement level. In Study 2, 44 children (Mage = 58,9 mos; SD = 6,8 mos) participated, 25 girls and 19 boys. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, part of the data was collected in person and part by means of online forms and meetings on the Google Meet platform. The same instruments used in Study 1 were used in the first phase of data collection (in person). However, after the beginning of the pandemic, in order to guarantee that the online sessions with the children were not tiresome, three changes were made: a) only the first five out of the seven tasks in the theory-of-mind scale were used; b) the PPVT was excluded because of time requirements; and c) the Bear/Dragon EF task was excluded because 4-year-old participants (first phase of data collection) had performance suggesting a possible ceiling effect. Preliminary analyses did not indicate significant effects of gender, age and type of data collection (in person x online). Spearman correlation tests revealed significant associations between theory of mind and fantasy orientation level, but the effect size was weak; between the score on the Bear/Dragon task and on the Less is More task; between performance on the Bear/Dragon task and PPVT scores; and between performance on the Less is More task and PPVT scores. The level of fantasy engagement, based on data from children’s interviews, correlated significantly with the creation of imaginary companions and the predisposition to imagination and preferences (PIP-Child). Consistent with results from previous studies, there are different points of view from parents, varying from a balanced perception of the phenomenon, including both positive and negative aspects of high engagement in fantasy (41,7%) to an extremely positive view (29,2%). Only one participant showed and extremely negative attitude (4,2%). Together, results from these two studies point to the challenging aspect of the task of assessing different forms and levels of fantasy engagement. The present work included several measures of sociocognitive development and fantasy engagement, revealing significant associations between some measures that need to be further explored in future studies. At the same time, data obtained in the interviews with parents/caregivers suggests that maybe the mistaken belief that the creation of imaginary companions and other elaborate manifestations of fantasy are indicative of behavior and/or emotional problems may be weakening. On the other hand, more studies, as the one reported here, are needed so we can reach a better understanding of all the functions and benefits of pretend play to child development.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Mapeamento comportamental nos JRPGS – uma análise de sentimentos dos personagens de final fantasy VII remake(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Rodrigues, Lucas Gonçalves; Andrade, Leonardo Antônio de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3921612856948891; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5265838589804982Final Fantasy VII Remake is an electronic game released in April 2020 for the PlayStation 4 that uses the mechanic and narratological structure of Final Fantasy VII, released in 1997 for the PlayStation, in order to create a reinterpretation of the same audiovisual work using technological resources contemporaries of their time. However, when consuming the content of both games, one notices not only media differences, but also behavioral differences when taking into account the narratological structure of some of their characters. The present study aims to examine dialogues and scenes from these two electronic games through computational algorithms for analyzing feelings to obtain data on the behavioral pattern of its main characters, and thus identify whether there are changes in their attitudes along the narrative of Final Fantasy VII Remake. The results showed that Cloud, Tifa and Barret had significant sentiment changes comparing both games.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A cartografia tátil na escola: outras perspectivas sobre o ensino de geografia(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Rodrigues, Laís Caroline; Melo, Ismail Barra Nova de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3576937472687059; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4793193954388971Increasingly present in society, maps gain more prominence in everyday school life. But often, reading these materials is hampered by the high level of abstraction required due to the technical language used. Therefore, new possibilities for the use of cartographic language in the teaching of geography in schools are sought. Therefore, Tactile Cartography, a branch of School Cartography specializing in the making of tactile cartographic materials for the teaching of geography for people with visual impairment, emerges as a possible path for the perception of the landscape and the construction of the concept of space, playing an important role mainly for the blind or low vision student. This work aims to reflect on how tactile representations can contribute to the teaching and learning of Geography for all types of students, regardless of visual acuity. Through the preparation and application of tactile maps and their use in the classroom, based on the action-research method, based on artisanal techniques, we seek to develop materials that dialogue with the reality of the student in everyday life and in school life. Because it is easy to assimilate and accessible to all students, the tactile graphic language allows for a more inclusive approach in terms of understanding the contents covered in the classroom. More than a specific cartography for certain types of students, Tactile Cartography demonstrates competence in school practice, not only for Geography, but to work in different areas of knowledge and truly form an inclusive school that encompasses and integrates all students. Exploring a multisensory methodology, the maps worked during the research showed more effectiveness in understanding the contents in the teaching and learning process of Geography than those presented in textbooks. More objective and with a more simplified reading, the students were able to assimilate the knowledge that was asked for reflection and elaboration of the exercises, corroborating for the confirmation of the perceptions that motivated this research. Thus, the aim is to contribute to the advancement of research in Tactile Cartography, in directing discussions for the development and use of tactile graphic language at school.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A comunicação terapêutica entre enfermeiros e familiares de crianças e neonatos internados na unidade de terapia intensiva(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Souza, Renata Olzon Dionysio de; Dupas, Giselle; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9461883918498554; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8223503716906093Introduction: the Intensive Care Unit environment is a place of great anguish for the family. The nurse, the main representative of the care offered, prioritizes child care and recognizes the need to include the family. Communication emerges as a tool that permeates care, but also as a way of caring for and supporting the family. Objective: to understand how nurses who work in this environment understand therapeutic communication and carry it out in their practice in the relationship with the family. Method: descriptive and field qualitative research, used therapeutic communication (TC) as a theoretical framework, and the Interpretative Description method. The study was carried out with nurses from the pediatric and neonatal intensive care unit selected using the Bola de Neve technique. For data collection, a semi-structured interview was used, initially carried out face-to-face and, later, with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic through video call. Data analysis took place in an inductive way, avoiding pre-determined analyses, and with periods of immersion in the field and in the data, it was possible to apprehend the whole, without discarding the particularities. Results: through 21 interviews, the research brought as a result the understanding of TC for the nurse, being used mainly to inform and clarify, using clear language, but also communication in the way of relating, supporting and caring . The reports showed that communication was used in different moments of interaction with the family, from ordinary to more delicate situations, such as the child's death. There were also reports regarding its use with the team of health professionals, as well as the way of communicating the institution's attributions, rules and routines. Nurses' beliefs and values constantly permeated their way of communicating with the family. Final considerations: this research showed that despite the lack of knowledge about TC, professionals have within themselves resources to develop care in which TC is present and with potential for growth.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, O efeito do potássio (K) na formação de CH4 na reação de reforma a vapor e sua relação com a estrutura da molécula reformada(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Taschin, Alan Rober; Bueno, José Maria Corrêa; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0157452280626031; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8500599743103891Nickel (Ni) catalysts were applied in the steam reforming reaction of organic compounds. Ni is highly active for breaking C-C bonds, a route in steam reforming reactions to generate hydrogen (and CO), however it is also active for hydrogenating carbonaceous species (C, CHX and CO) to generate CH4 as a final product at low temperatures, and then the H2 yield decreases. The consequence of this unwanted reaction is related to the activation of CH4 and its conversion, which requires high temperatures, and reflects an increase in the process cost. The addition of potassium (K) to nickel catalysts suppresses the hydrogenation activity of CO to CH4. In this work, Ni/MgAl2O4 catalysts were promoted with KNO3 to reach different potassium loads and were applied in the steam reforming reaction of ethanol (SRE), butanol (SRB) and phenol (SRPh). The catalysts were characterized by nitrogen adsorption, in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature programmed reduction (TPR-H2), transmission electronic microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XANES). The catalytic evaluation was carried out in the range of 250°C - 650°C with a vapor/carbon molar ratio equal to 13. The addition of K to the catalysts weakens the Ni-O interaction, which causes agglomeration and increases the Ni nano particles size. The effect of potassium on methane formation is directly related to the structure of the reformed molecule, which determines the type of CHX species formed in the decomposition of reagents. During this step, it is expected to form CH in phenol, CH3 and CH2 in butanol and CH3 in ethanol. In K presence, methane is suppressed in CH hydrogenation, it is less expressive in CH2 species and absent in CH3 species. DFT calculations on the interaction of these absorbed CHX species in the Ni4 cluster (CHX-Ni4) with K, especially in KOH, indicates that species such as HOKHxCNi4 are stable with energy decay at -296.1, -242.4 and -27.7 kJ.mol-1 for CH, CH2 and CH3 species, respectively. The increase in adsorption heat for CH and CH2 species decreases the hydrogenation activity for methane formation.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Modelos experimentais de retalho cutâneo randômico dorsal em ratos: uma revisão sistemática(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Espósito, Lara Maria Bataglia; Oliveira, Maria Carolina Derencio; Liebano, Richard Eloin; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1397951221512127Introduction: One of the most commonly used techniques in plastic surgery is the use of random skin flaps, which have several benefits, but it’s postoperative period is prone to ischemia. However, even with numerous researches on the subject, it isn’t yet established which would be the most adequate experimental model to study methods of prevention and treatment related to tissue ischemia and, consequently, to necrosis. Objective: To systematically approach and expose the random dorsal skin flap models available in the literature, in order to highlight an experimental model that resembles as much as possible clinical practice and generates significant and non-critical necrosis percentages, in order to better investigate factors and treatments related to necrosis. Methods: The selection of studies related to the topic was carried out in the main databases (PubMed, Cochrane Library, LILACS, Web of Science and Scopus), without a fixed initial period until July 2021. Subsequently, the scientific articles that fit were chosen in the previously established inclusion criteria. Results: In the end, 383 studies were evaluated, and the main information about the amount of pedicle, size of the flap, type of base, use of barrier between the skin flap and its bed, lineage and body mass of the animals were presented. It was observed that there’s no standardization regarding the characteristics of the experimental model of random dorsal skin flap, suggesting a monopedicled model, with a cranial base, without barrier placement and with greater ratios. Conclusion: The results obtained indicate that the most suitable model for investigating factors and treatments related to necrosis consists of a flap measuring 9x3 cm, monopedicled, with a cranial base and without the use of a barrier.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Propriedades ópticas da matéria orgânica dissolvida produzida por cultivos axênicos de fitoplâncton de água doce(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-10-29) Zapparoli, Icaro Coloian; Sarmento, Hugo; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4515469289999439; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4293768428693438The dissolved organic matter (DOM) is a heterogeneous mixture of molecules with different weight and reactivity that vary spatio-temporally across aquatic ecosystems, and is a key element of biogeochemical cycles. Phytoplankton is a major producer of labile DOM, regulating the quantity and composition of bioavailable DOM pools that support bacterial growth and carbon flow through food webs, standing up as an important, but poorly explored fraction of the DOM pool. The characterization of the optical properties of the fluorescent DOM (FDOM) is a rapid and inexpensive method that provides information about the DOM origin and reactivity. Here, we characterized the DOM produced by freshwater phytoplankton using fluorescence spectroscopy and parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) in 123 samples from 45 different species grown in axenic cultures. We hypothesized that related species would produce similar compounds, and this could be detected by FDOM signatures. We identify three fluorophore components that were cross validated using the OpenFluor database. The predominant component was characterized as autochthonous of protein origin, and the other two components were identified as non processed terrestrial and processed by microbial activity, respectively. The freshness and humification indexes varied according to the culture’s growth stage, indicating that degradation may occur under the absence of heterotrophic bacteria or UV radiation, but probably due to chemical oxidation. Besides providing a solid database of FDOM produced by freshwater phytoplankton, we show that the FDOM composition is extremely variable among species, within replicated cultures of the same species, and across culture growth stage. We conclude that the FDOM produced by freshwater phytoplankton detected by optical methods does not seem related to phytoplankton phylogenetic structure
