The sign language translator and interpreter, TILS , into the context of federal high education institutions, IFES , work on educational processes that are aimed to deaf students within inclusion projects, working this way as educational agente on teaching, resarch and extension activities. Then, considering the plurality of knowledge to the practice, and the demand for training, this study aims to investigate training needs of TILS that work in IFES, seeking to organize a training course for TILS in a virtual platform, promoting that training from a perspective that enables a teaching and learning relationship that take into account the role of the another one on it, and analyses this proposal´s process. Through an intervention-research, it was carried out a continuous training by distance education modality, which democratize professional training offering, and favors the collective construction of knowledge. The course Libras’ translator and interpreter: practice and professional training was offered by General Secretariat of Distance Education, SEaD, of UFSCar. The survey participants were four TILS that worked in IFES from different regions of Brazil, and data were collected from the forums of discussion. The analyses allowed find three Dimensions of training needs, Specific, Educational and Professional, which are interdependents and constituted from interrelated knowledges. The Specific Dimension is constituted from linguistic-cultural, discursive and technical knowledges, which are related to linguistics, grammatical and cultural factors related to the public with whom TILS work in different modalities and directions of the translation process in face-to-face meetings or mediated by Technologies. Educational Dimension is constituted from political-educational, didactic-pedagogical, and institutional knowledges, which are related to teaching levels, organization and the structure of the context of work, its educational processes premisses and its social relations. Professional Dimension is constituted from characteristic, methodological and social knowledges of the area of translation and interpretation in deafness field, which corresponds to acting, knowledge and knowledge production spheres. It is understood the importance of public policies focused on TILS training. While this advance is underway, the intervention-research in individual and shared reflection processes for the construction of knowledge could favor the approximation of professionals and researchers to design actions that promote conditions offering continuous education. An institutional training program in free distance education, directed to the training of professionals that work with deaf students in different levels, modalities and teaching contexts, due to the protagonism of these professionals, and the intervention of professor and researches, is presented as an alternative, since the modality favors exchange, reflections, and even new practices adopted by TILS from different geographic reality, making it possible to develop professional training projects incorporated into daily life, and connected to service training experiences to systematize and reframe the practice. Whithin its possibilities, the research sought to contribute to scientific knowledge and conditions for offering professional training through free access modality, bringing a return to the field of translation and interpretation in the context of deafness in dialogue and with the subsidy of Pedagogy, Educational Psychology, and Distance Education as fields of training, profession and work performance.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-12-03) Andrade, Evaldo Aguiar; Dal'Evedove, Paula Regina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1170937498266968
The Knowledge Organization seeks to provide a conceptual framework for the most varied practices and social activities from the construction of information representation instruments that favor access to knowledge registered and made available in different types of informational resources. The chapters and events promoted by the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) are important vehicles of scientific communication. In this perspective, it was questioned how Knowledge Organization Systems are treated in the Brazilian chapter of ISKO. In this sense, this study aims to analyze the scientific production on knowledge organization systems indexed in the Brazilian chapter of ISKO, consisting of 5 publications from 2011 to 2019, totaling a corpus of 24 articles. From a specific point of view, it seeks to know the most cited researchers, the most productive authors in this area, as well as their institutional affiliation. It is, therefore, a study of a basic, descriptive, bibliographic and quantitative approach on the scientific production of the Brazilian chapter of ISKO-Brasil, based on the theme of knowledge organization systems. The results obtained reveal that the most prominent researchers in the area are: Marcos Luiz Cavalcanti de Miranda, Mario Barité, Daniel Martínez-Ávila, Hope A. Olson and Suellen Oliveira Milani. In addition, a solid epistemic community was identified in the analyzed area, with researchers responsible for significant production on the topic, which influence other authors dedicated to the subject and are used as a source of research. From the results, it can be concluded that the theme is gaining more and more space on the agenda of discussions of national researchers, and it is timely to conduct research that seeks to draw a more complete picture of national actors who are dedicated to the subject.

This PhD thesis was developed at CTI Renato Archer, Campinas-SP and was based on a hydrometallurgical process, on an industrial scale, applied to the recovery of metals in discarded printed circuit boards (PCBs). The objectives of this work were the optimization and monitoring of a specific step of the hydrometallurgical process, that is, the leaching step of Cu present in PCBs. In the first stage of the studies, a fractional factorial design of experiments (25-1) was carried out, resulting in 16 experiments with the objective of evaluating and optimizing the copper leaching process. The variables studied were: i) concentration of NH4OH (mol.L-1); ii) concentration of (NH4)2SO4 (mol.L-1); iii) flow of O2 (L.h-1); iv) leaching time (h); v) solid/liquid ratio (kg.L-1). In the factorial design of experiments responses, the concepts of mass balance were used and the conversion factors of solid state metals to a solution (Xm) were calculated. In this way, the Xm of Cu and Au present in the ‘discarded PCBs were calculated, in addition, because it is an optimization of an industrial scale process, another answer evaluated was the operational cost of the process for Cu extraction (OCPCu). With the use of chemometric tools, it is concluded, therefore, that the proposed chemical system can present a Cu extraction with approximately 89% efficiency, high selectivity and an acceptable operating cost if the following process parameters are obeyed: i) [NH4OH] = 6,5 mol.L-1; ii) [(NH4)2SO4] = 2,0 mol.L-1; iii) flow of O2 = 240 L.h-1; iv) leaching time = 3 horas; v) solid/liquid ratio = 0,1 kg.L-1. In another stage of the work, an alternative analytical method to control the copper leaching step in PCBs was evaluated, using LIBS. After analyzing the LIBS and properly processing the data obtained, contour graphs were generated with the intensity values of the Cu spectral signal, at 324,754 nm, for each sampling point (laser pulse), enabling the mapping of the surface of the sample analyzed based on the presence of Cu. It is concluded that the combination of LIBS with chemometric tools for the treatment of spectral data and the use of signal intensity maps to compare different Cu extraction conditions proved to be a fast and efficient method for the evaluation of the leaching process, with the advantage of requiring a relatively less complex sample preparation compared to determinations performed at ICP OES

Collaborative social indexing models aim for democratic indexing that follows the premises of collective intelligence. In the context of Open Science and the open access movement, digital repositories are important systems that can incorporate these models. However, the question arises: Which collaborative social indexing models for digital repositories have been outlined and are disclosed in specialized literature? From this perspective, the present research has the general objective of investigating innovation and technology strategies for social indexing in hybrid information systems, based on the investigation of collaborative models of social indexing for digital repositories, with the specific objectives: a) contextualizing Science Open, digital repositories and collaborative representation of information in digital environments from the perspective of Information Science; b) outline the main perspectives for the study and application of collaborative social indexing models as strategic and innovative resources in digital repositories; and c) present the main advances and future perspectives of research dedicated to collaborative models of social indexing for digital repositories. To this end, an exploratory and descriptive study was conducted based on interdisciplinary bibliographical research, aimed at the scientific literature of Computer Science and Information Science. The results show that different studies defend the hybridization of controlled vocabularies and folksonomy for the representation of information in digital repositories and present proposals for collaborative models for indexing. In view of the results, it is concluded that there is a need to improve methodologies and tools that consider the integration of user participation in the information indexing process.

The main purpose of this thesis was to evaluate the effect of a supervised foot-ankle exercise program on the clinical, functional and biomechanical aspects of gait in individuals with knee osteoarthritis (KOA). For this, this investigation was based on 3 papers. Study 1 was the randomized clinical trial (RCT) protocol of two parallel arms, prospectively registered, with an allocation ratio of 1:1 and blinding of the outcome evaluators, which aimed to investigate whether a foot-ankle exercise program improves knee pain, functionality, foot strength and kinematics, knee overload during gait, and reduces drug intake in individuals with KOA. Individuals with medial tibiofemoral KOA would be randomized into an intervention group that would perform the supervised foot-ankle exercise program for 8 consecutive weeks, three times a week, or a control group that would not perform foot-ankle exercises and would follow the usual care recommended by health teams. The primary outcome of the study was the pain domain of the Western Ontario McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) questionnaire being assessed at baseline (T0), immediately after the end of treatment (T8) and eight weeks after the end of treatment (T16 - follow-up). The secondary outcomes included were the stiffness, function and total score domains of the WOMAC questionnaire, physical function, isometric strength of the foot muscles, foot kinematics and knee overload during gait, which would be analyzed following the principles of intention-to-treat and per protocol. Study 2 consisted of a feasibility study following part of the methodology proposed in Study 1, which aimed to assess the feasibility of a RCT evaluating the effects of 8 weeks of supervised foot-ankle exercises on clinical and functional aspects in individuals with KOA. Feasibility was assessed by contact, eligibility compliance, and weekly recruitment rates; exercise program attendance, dropout and retention rates; safety and satisfaction with the exercise protocol; and potential changes in the outcomes of pain, stiffness and function self-reported, and physical function of individuals who performed the supervised foot-ankle exercise program. Contact, eligibility fulfillment, and recruitment success rates were 57%, 19.5%, and 88%, respectively; attendance, dropout and retention rates were 88%, 20% and 73.3%, respectively. The exercise program was also considered satisfactory and safe by 97.3% and 73.3% of the individuals, respectively. Sixteen individuals with KOA who were randomly allocated to the intervention group demonstrated improvement in self-reported pain, stiffness and function, and in physical function. Therefore, an eight-week foot-ankle strengthening program was found to be feasible, safe, satisfactory, and improved knee pain, stiffness, and physical function in individuals with KOA. Study 3 aimed to investigate the efficacy of an 8-week foot-ankle exercise program, compared to not performing foot-ankle exercises and following usual care recommended by health teams, on pain and functionality in individuals with KOA, following part of the methodology published in the protocol for RCT (Study 1). 30 individuals with medial tibiofemoral KOA were randomly allocated to an intervention or control group, previously described, being evaluated at T0, T8 and T16 using the WOMAC questionnaire (pain domain - primary outcome; stiffness, function and total score domains - secondary outcomes) and of physical tests recommended by the OsteoArthritis Research Society International (OARSI): 30-s chair stand test, 9-step stair climb test and 40-m fast-paced walk test. The per protocol analysis with 24 individuals who completed at least 80% of the sessions and at least the T0 and T8 assessments was performed and showed a statistically significant improvement in the WOMAC pain domain of the intervention group compared to the control group (mean difference = 5.8 points; 95%CI = 2.4 – 9.2; p = 0.002). The difference remained after analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) considering sex, body mass index (BMI) and initial WOMAC pain score as covariates. Regarding the secondary outcomes, statistically significant differences were noticed in the function and total score domains of the WOMAC questionnaire, and in the 30-s chair stand and 9-step stair climb tests. Therefore, an 8-week foot-ankle exercise program, compared to not performing exercises for and following the usual care recommended by health teams, is effective in improving self-reported knee pain and function, and physical function. individuals with KOA.

The present work aims to contribute to the knowledge base on the socio-spatial production of the urban space in non-metropolitan cities, by studying the formation process of the North Zone territory, in the city of São José do Rio Preto. The thesis seeks to investigate, through the analysis of the historical trajectory of the social housing production in the city, the processes through which the northern area of the city becomes a place of socio-spatial segregation, highlighting the transformations it has undergone due to the activity of the capital. More than that, it aims to identify, in time and space, the historical elements that contributed to the consolidation of the Northern area as the territory of a new centrality, both from an external reading, that of the housing production inserted in a capitalist accumulation system, and from an internal, qualitative view. For the investigation, three methodological strategies were adopted, which involve: research in primary sources, based on data and documents provided by government agencies, statistical bases and newspapers; in secondary sources, in the vast existing literature on the urban theory to form the theoretical basis of research; and semi-structured interviews with individuals who received the benefits of the housing programs and are currently living in the region. The theoretical framework allowed an analysis of the socio-spatial organization of the territory as a result of the production process of social housing in the city, the role of the State and real estate agents in shaping the North Zone and the socioeconomic scenario and social relations that weave the lived space. The understanding is that these elements have made this new centrality become a government device of great power. A possible solution would require building new subjectivities that allowed the coproduction of the urban spaces by different subjects, as a path to achieve the process of re-valorization of political actions, leading to the rupture with current order.

The large production of data and information in the digital environment experienced in recent decades requires from Information Science a set of theories and practices that ensure ways to organize, represent and make available, for the purposes of access and retrieval, the various types of informational and digital objects. In this regard, the relevance of the thematic representation of these materials grows, highlighting the growing number of platforms and digital environments that make use of the experiences and specialized knowledge of their users for a collaborative work of content representation. In this direction, this research questions the best practices for the collaborative representation of images in digital environments. As a way of contributing to this discussion, the objective is to analyze the practices of image representation in a folksonomic context included in the specialized literature of Library Science and Information Science, having as object of investigation the national publications conducted on the subject. Therefore, an exploratory and bibliographic research with a quali-quantitative approach was carried out, with the collection and analysis of eighteen documents collected in the BRAPCI and BDTD databases. For a better visualization of the results, a summary table of the practices and platforms used is presented, in addition to the classification of these practices into four categories that group them according to their similarities. It is observed that the main initiatives for collaborative representation of images in digital environments are: analysis of labeling quality and user behavior; analysis and comparative evaluation between the social indexing of a collaborative system and methodologies of analysis and indexing of Information Science images; and union of collaborative indexing with Knowledge Organization Systems. It was also found that Flickr is the platform most frequently used by these initiatives. It is concluded that there are several initiatives of collaborative representation of images in a folksonomic context worked on by the national literature and, although there are similarities between the practices within the same category, they have specific characteristics. It is recommended that further practical research focus on exploring the potential of folksonomy in the representation of images in digital environments from the blending of elements of traditional indexing with elements of collaborative representation in contemporary digital environments.

Indexing was one of the areas of Library Science and Information Science that has evolved the most over the years, due to technological advances and adaptation to the behavior of users. Currently, with the use of Institutional Repositories, in accordance with Open Science guidelines, users have become authors and indexers of their works simultaneously. Thus, it is necessary to standardize the indexing to guarantee access and use of information. In this sense, this research questions what are the guidelines for the representation of content in institutional repositories that adopt self-archiving. The objective, therefore, is to investigate the existence of indexing policies in institutional repositories, in order to contribute to the representation of contents in hybrid systems that adopt the practice of self-archiving. This is an exploratory and descriptive work, conducted through bibliographical research and survey. It appears that only one institution has an indexing policy, dating from 2021. Another five institutions do not have an indexing policy, but allude to them in their self-archiving materials. It is concluded that the field of study is very recent and has been gaining space in scientific and technical discussions, making public the importance of elaborating an indexing policy that meets the requirements of the self-archiving process and the precepts of Open Science.

The increase in the number of older adults in the population brings the need for trained professionals to deal with the demands of aging in biopsychosocial aspects. Given this, the Gerontologist emerges, a new profession in Brazil whose regulation is underway in the National Congress, which can lead to insecurities and concerns. This study aimed to identify the association between satisfaction with academic experiences and anxiety, depression and stress in undergraduate Gerontology students. It was a descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of students enrolled in the undergraduate course in Gerontology at the Federal University of São Carlos, divided into two groups, according to the median of satisfaction with academic experiences, named: (a) Group with high satisfaction with academic experiences (GHigh Satisfaction): composed of students with scores of satisfaction with academic experiences above the median, (b) Group with low academic satisfaction (GLower Satisfaction): composed of students with scores of satisfaction with academic experiences below the median. The instruments for data collection were: Student Characterization Questionnaire, Academic Experiences Questionnaire – Short Version (QVA-R) and Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scale (EADS-21). The data obtained were entered into a database using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows program to perform descriptive and comparative statistical analyses. All stages of this work followed the ethical guidelines of scientific research involving human beings, according to Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council. The sociodemographic profile of undergraduate students in Gerontology was female, young, single, childless, with a favored family income, with religion – evangelical or catholic, non-practitioner and dedicated exclusively to student activities. The total scores and by dimension of satisfaction with academic experiences were high and were above the midpoint of the scale. The dimension that presented the best score was the “institutional”, followed by the “interpersonal” dimension. The dimensions with the lowest values were “personal” and “career” (in that order). Regarding emotional factors, the “stress” domain had the highest score, followed by the “depression” and “anxiety” domains. There was a significant association between satisfaction with academic experiences and anxiety, depression and stress among undergraduate students in Gerontology. It was concluded that with low satisfaction with academic life have a greater number of symptoms of depression, stress and anxiety.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-12-03) Tavares, Driele; Fernandes, Marisa Narciso; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3021357484136942; Leite, Cléo Alcantara Costa; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2031764784233552; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7521276162651566
The reptile class has considerable importance among vertebrates for investigations about the evolution of modulatory mechanisms in the cardiovascular system. Some cardiovascular studies have been performed with in situ measurements and experimental models under terminal anesthesia. Unfortunately, this approach compromises cardiovascular responses by suppressing autonomic modulations. The present study analyzes the effectiveness of a new experimental model for cardiovascular studies in Squamates using decerebrate animals. The model allows recording several physiological variables on an animal preparation euthanized with a functional autonomic nervous system (ANS), free of anesthetic interferences. For the decerebrate preparation to be considered adequate, several levels of validations are needed that observe: the ANS's ability to recover; the integrity of that system throughout the experimental process; its ability to process and coordinate responses to challenges; its degree of similarity with the intact animal, as well as the functional viability time of the preparation. Thus, we had the following objectives: (1) to evaluate the profile of the progression of post-surgical recovery on the mean values of cardiovascular parameters at rest and its stability over time; (2) to assess the post-surgical recovery level of the autonomic modulation of a complex cardiovascular mechanism, such as the baroreflex; (3) to assess the profile of the progression of autonomic post-surgical recovery, reflected by modulatory indices, such as Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and baroreflex; (4) to evaluate the ANS's responsiveness and adaptation of the hemodynamic regulation of preparations submitted to hemodynamic challenges. We observed that the preparations maintained mean cardiovascular parameters at rest stable and similar to those of intact animals. Furthermore, with the preparation, it was possible to accomplish highly complex instrumentation, record a large number of concomitant parameters and integrate them. Baroreflex indices, representative of complex autonomic modulatory processes, were recovered to the level observed on intact animals at rest three days after surgery. The autonomic modulatory indicators used (baroreflex and HRV) remained stable for at least 15 days. The preparations were able to perform complex hemodynamic adjustments in response to hemodynamic challenges and chemoreceptor stimuli for an extended period after the surgical procedure. The anesthesia procedure changed the profile of modulatory responses to challenges under the same conditions, proving the persistence of autonomic processes. We conclude that the model is representative of the species, as it can maintain the cardiovascular parameters similar to those of intact animals. It is a valuable model because it allows for multiple variables recording. It is viable for long-term procedures, as it maintains these capabilities for a long time after euthanasia.

To assess the quality of the environment for walking, there are several evaluation methods, however, walkability can be highlighted, as walkability is the measure of how much the built environment supports and encourages walking, providing comfort and safety for pedestrians, connecting people to varied destinations within a reasonable period of time and effort and offering an attractive visual. The present research seeks to develop a procedure to assess the walkability of Brazilian cities using Multicriteria Assessment. The methodology used for the development of the research consists of: (1) Identification of indicators that can be used to assess walkability, (2) Attribution of weights to indicators through the application of questionnaires for specialists in transport planning, (3) ) Data collection from selected study areas, (4) Data normalization through fuzzy logic, (5) Indicator integration through Weighted Linear Combination and (6) Analysis of the results obtained. As a result, it was possible to identify the indicators to carry out a walkability assessment. Data were collected in three study areas referring to each of the indicators and an evaluation was carried out with the normalized scores through fuzzy functions for each of the indicators. The application was carried out in three different areas of the city of Ribeirão Preto to verify the effectiveness of the method and compare the level of walkability between a central area and two peripheral areas. Through the results obtained in the research areas, it was possible to identify that the level of walkability of the municipality is different between the neighborhoods, identifying that the central area and the peripheral area occupied by a population of middle/high class have a level of walkability superior to the area peripheral area occupied by a middle/lower class population. The application of this research can be used as a model to analyze the walkability of urban areas, and can be used as a tool to define improvements to increase the safety conditions of pedestrian spaces, increase the attractiveness of this mode of transport and establish more accessible routes. , with better displacement conditions. The results of the application of this tool may also serve as an aid in decision-making on investments in urban infrastructure for pedestrians.

Report on the elaboration of the article La Casa de las Flores: a portrait of Mexico and Melodrama that intends to analyse how the series La Casa de las Flores, produced by Netflix, uses different melodramatic elements. The objective is to show how the series portrays Mexican society and revisits melodrama, focusing on three episodes from the first season. The hypothesis discussed is that the series revisits the genre while distancing itself from common melodramatic strategies. Thus, it manages to weave a peculiar tribute to icons of Mexican popular culture, especially the telenovela

This study aims to analyze the use of feminist graphic humor present in Ciça’s comic strips published and released in feminist newspapers "Brasil Mulher", "Nós Mulheres" and "Mulherio" between 1975 and 1987, during a civil and military dictatorship in addition to the emergence of feminist movements in their second wave. Through cartoons and comic strips - understood as discourses - that integrate these periodicals, I try to understand how humor with a feminist perspective can be understood and used for the education of women, who since its beginning - thinking of colony Brazil - was authoritarian and practically inaccessible. Throughout this work, I try to identify, through the description and analysis of the graphic humor present in daily life of the character “Bia Sabiá”, indications that demonstrate the potential of the feminist media as an instrument of education for women to become aware of their human condition in a patriarchal society. The research, in its methodological organization, is of a qualitative, bibliographic and documentary nature. It is worth mentioning that, using humor and laughter, the present newspapers are characterized by a particular approach, by the context in which they were published and, especially, in the treatment of cultural, social, political and economic elements, as well as the understanding public and private policy.
