This study used machine learning algorithms (neural network, decision tree and close neighbors algorithm) to create classification models of 11 lineages of the Copia and Gypsy superfamilies, using angiosperm DNA sequences as training. Of eight models, three were efficient and were able to satisfactorily classify the sequences, in addition to being potentially efficient in classifying data from angiosperm species that were not in the dataset used for training. A comparison of the classification of the three most efficient models was also carried out with the prediction made by the Blast program, which has an algorithm based on sequence alignment, as a result, excellent classification metrics were obtained, however, considering 80% identity and 80 % coverage for there to be a prediction, it failed to classify 30% of the sequences.

Método automático de calibração de IMU baseado no filtro de Kalman
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-12-17) Diegues, Daniel; Nogueira, Samuel Lourenço; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2287847504423307; Inoue, Roberto Santos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6221209121565990; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8787158005491236
IMUs are widely used in applications that require position and attitude measurements. And with the production of low-cost IMUs, it has been possible to expand this use beyond military and high-cost applications, reaching consumer devices such as cell phones, wearable technologies, physical exercise and rehabilitation equipment. But every IMU needs to be calibrated for use and therefore, in addition to the sensor, there is the cost of calibration. Existing calibration methods are either proprietary to the manufacturers, or they are expensive and require specific equipment and laboratories, or they use non-optimal methods of parameter estimation. This work proposes the systematization of low cost calibration methods, with simple execution performed by the user and that provides optimized results closer to those achieved by high cost calibration methods. The data capture process is based on a multi-position method that does not require extra equipment, besides the sensor and computer itself. The experiments were executed with three commercial IMUs, one high-cost calibrated by the manufacturer, used as a reference, and two low-cost, uncalibrated. The raw accelerometer reading of each IMU was calibrated using the four forms of the Kalman filter developed in this work and the errors obtained were evaluated by comparing the high cost IMU and the calibration with the estimated parameters, showing the good performance of the methods.

Síntese de complexos de Ru(II) luminescentes: aplicações no combate à doença de Alzheimer
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-12-17) Almeida, Marlon Augusto Profeta de; Carlos, Rose Maria; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1589143355309943; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9621846497799221
Alzheimer’s disease (A.D) is the most common form of dementia affecting, especially, people with advanced age. There is no cure and the existing pharmaceuticals indicated for combating A.D act by inhibition of acetylcholinesterase enzyme (AChE), whose hyperactivity is related to the initial symptoms of the disease. This pharmaceuticals offer symptomatic and palliative treatments and are associated with several side effects. In this work two new Ru(II) compounds (RuFenGlic and RuEtPy) were designed to act as new AChE inhibitors. The complexes presented luminescence, being able to be used as luminescent probes for amyloid-β aggregation process which enables a potential diagnostic system. RuFenGlic complex showed poor inhibitory activity while RuEtPy complex showed inhibitory activity comparable to Galantamine drug. Furthermore, STD-1H-NMR analysis allowed inferring that Fen ligand of RuFenGlic complex and the EtPy ligand of RuEtPy complex are the most responsible for the inhibition observed for each complex. Photochemical properties of both complexes were studied in solution. RuFenGlic complex shows photostability when irradiated in wavelengths under its MLCT absorption band (420, 450, 520 nm). On the other hand, RuEtPy complex shows photosubstitution of the EtPy ligand when irradiated in the same wavelengths. The phenomenon is observed by MLCT shifts and sequential luminescence quenching after irradiation. Interestingly, this photochemical reaction for this complex reaches stabilization after 3 hours of irradiation, with substitution of only one of the EtPy ligands and luminescence quenching between 70 and 90% of the band, but never total quenching. This property can be explored for diagnose and treatment of cancer through photoactivatable chemotherapy (PACT).

Gilda de Mello e Souza e as artes menores
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-12-17) Valle, Rafael Lopes do; Nascimento, Luís Fernandes dos Santos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3654785629696808; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4154240651138358
Throughout her essays and articles, Gilda de Mello e Souza presents us with a study of what she calls as minor arts. These differ from other artistic productions for being ordinary, applied and closely linked to society. The minor arts are part of a poor aesthetic, so-called by the philosopher, whose object of investigation is the everyday phenomena, futile and without forums of grandeur. Another characteristic that is attributed to the minor arts is that of the well-done, because they require an attachment to minuteness and detail, characteristics that Gilda de Mello e Souza associates with a feminine vision. Therefore, the minor arts are works that are neither historical nor European, in addition to those produced by women. Although they are despised objects, it is seen, throughout our author's work, that the designation given to minor arts should not be taken in a pejorative sense, but viewed by their dignity.

Bayesian variable selection using data driven reversible jump: an application to schizophrenia data
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-12-17) Montcho, Djidenou Hans Amos; Zuanetti, Daiane Aparecida; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8352484284929824; Milan, Luis Aparecido; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7435391829973844; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3071157876961214
Symptom based diagnosis are known to be limited specially concerning complex disorders such as schizophrenia. Modern attempts in providing predictive risk for such disease, to assist existing diagnosis tools, integrate genetic and brain information in what is known as imaging genetics. In this monography, our goal is both inferential and predictive. Regarding the inference, given the functional Magnetic Resonance Image and the Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms information of people diagnosed with schizophrenia and healthy people, we use a Bayesian probit model to select discriminating variables, while to estimate the predictive risk, the most promising models are combined using a Bayesian model averaging scheme. For these purposes, we propose an adaptive reversible jump markov chain monte carlo, named data driven reversible jump, for selecting the variables, estimating their effects and the predictive risk for future subjects.

Strictly linked to the domain of the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), there is the school development of the deaf student. However, due to a lack of practice in the family environment, it relays to the school environment the need of committing to the use of sign language, since there is a projection that this student will have colleagues he can interact with through it. Marta Gràcia et al. (2017a), based on the teaching of oral language as a role of the school for hearing students, created the Oral Language Teaching Assessment Scale – Decision Making System (EVALOE-SSD), which was adapted (LACERDA, 2018) to be used in the context of Deaf Education, aiming to favor the use and development of Libras by students. In this sense, this study proposes to observe and analyze the reflections regarding the pedagogical practices carried out by a bilingual teacher in the context of deaf education, using an adaptation of the EVALOE-SSD as a base. In this study, a Kindergarten teacher, responsible for the Libras instructional room (deaf students) in a municipal school, used the scale in a digital version. The results indicate that the adaptations made in the scale for the context of Deaf Education were satisfactory; that in the different axes of the scale, the teacher presented reflections and advances related to her pedagogical practice and that in the final questionnaire she could make relevant suggestions for the improvement of the scale in the context of Deaf Education.

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease capable of causing micro and macrovascular complications, in addition to abnormalities in cardiac function that directly impact aerobic fitness. Studies show that diabetic individuals have abnormalities in left ventricular diastolic function and myocardial strain that normally precede the appearance of abnormalities in the left ventricular ejection fraction, and that these abnormalities may be related to the lower aerobic fitness presented by diabetic individuals with preserved ejection fraction. Aerobic fitness can be assessed through oxygen consumption kinetics, which shows the speed of adjustment of the cardiovascular, pulmonary, and musculoskeletal systems against a given energy demand, with a faster adjustment speed representing better aerobic fitness. Objective: to correlate aerobic fitness responses with left ventricular function parameters in diabetic individuals. Casuistry and Methods: The studied population consisted of 10 type 2 diabetic individuals and 11 healthy individuals aged between 30 and 65 years old Anamnesis, blood tests, echocardiographic examination, and cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) were performed. The CPET protocol consisted of an incremental load phase to determine the maximum oxygen consumption and the gas exchange threshold, and a constant load phase (supramaximum test) to confirm the maximum oxygen consumption reached. Aerobic fitness was assessed by determining the kinetics of oxygen consumption and heart rate using the Mean Normalized Gain (MNG), and calculating the ԏ (tau), during a binary pseudorandom protocol. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test and Kendal's tau correlation coefficient. Results: We observed that diabetic individuals have lower aerobic fitness (lower MNG values), as well as systolic dysfunction due to abnormalities on global longitudinal strain and incipient signs of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (lower E wave and E/A ratio values, and higher A wave values). We showed a positive correlation between systolic function (strain) and aerobic fitness (MNG). Conclusions: Normotensive diabetic individuals, with incipient signs of diastolic ventricular dysfunction and with systolic dysfunction, have lower aerobic fitness. Changes in global longitudinal strain were correlated with lower aerobic fitness.

Um princípio de tangência e aplicações
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-12-17) Tarazona, Raúl Armando Gómez; Hartmann Junior, Luiz Roberto; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4217613854338579; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0244259901895105
We present tools, such as a maximum principle for elliptic functions and properties of a-hyperbolic polynomials, to study a tangency principle between two hypersurfaces with r-mean curvatures of a Riemannian manifold, which gives sufficient geometric conditions for these hypersurfaces to coincide in a neighborhood of a tangency point. We also study the problem of calculating the r-mean curvatures of the geodesic sphere, to use it in applications of the tangency principle.

Conflitos Socioambientais do PETAR no cotidiano do território quilombola de Bombas, São Paulo, Brasil
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-12-17) Souza, Mauricio Hermann de; Lana, Rita de Cássia; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1816504631940006; Melo, Ismail Barra Nova de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3576937472687059; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8531005984518122
This work analyzed the socio-environmental conflicts arising from the overlapping of PETAR in the daily life of the quilombola community of Bombas (SP), in Vale do Ribeira. To critically understand the complexity of the relationship between the residents and the Conservation Unit, the developments of the concept of territory were used: territorialization, territoriality and deterritorialization. The documentary research, which presents official information about the quilombo, and the bibliographic research in the disciplines of human sciences locate elements that demonstrate how the category of environmental protection Park contributed to the concrete and symbolic continuities and discontinuities in the different processes that comprise the lived world. in an environmental protection area. The main conflicts are related to land regularization, limitation of economic activities and exclusion of residents from legal decisions. These factors, as a consequence, have a negative impact on the permanence of subjects in the territory.

Business incubators are important organizations that meet the needs of companies, providing support for their implementation, development and consolidation in the market. One of the public policies to support incubators is the São Paulo Network of Technology-Based Business Incubators (RPITEc), an initiative of the Government of the State of São Paulo, which aims to foster and strengthen innovation and the movement of these incubators in the State. Despite the relevance of these policies, there is a need to deepen studies regarding their importance in supporting incubators. Thus, the objective of this work was to adapt a questionnaire to assess the quality of public policy for application to the RPITec policy. To achieve the proposed objective, a measurement model was selected in the literature, which has as an evaluation basis, the perceived quality of users in relation to a policy, contemplating five quality determinants represented by project quality, relationship quality, quality result, process quality and reliability. After the selection of this model, the five determinants of quality were adapted, aiming to capture in the best possible way the perception that the respondents have about the RPITec policy. Thus, 21 managers from 11 business incubators accredited to the public policy analyzed participated in this study in order to obtain their perception of the quality of the policy. A Likert-type scale with scores from one to seven was presented at the end of each statement so that respondents could indicate the degree of their disagreement or agreement with it. The scores on the Likert scales, attributed by the managers of the incubators, as a result of their perceptions in each item of the questionnaire, constituted the set of data analyzed statistically. Data analysis took place from a descriptive analysis of the medians of the scores obtained from each statement, since the nature and population distribution projected for them suggested the conduction of statistics in a non-parametric perspective. The proportions of negative, neutral and positive perceptions attributed to assertions about the quality of services provided by the RPITec policy were also calculated. The results found point to the opposite direction to what the hypotheses that guided the development of the present study postulate: while they claim to exist, in the understanding of the incubator managers, a positive evaluation of the services provided by the RPITec policy for each of the quality determinants, those showed that this evaluation was neutral and negative for all of them, except for the first determinant, project quality, whose result was positive for the satisfaction of policy quality. A second step was carried out in this dissertation in order to understand the results of the quality assessment and complement the discussions. Thus, a secondary objective was proposed: to submit the results of the quality assessment found to the policy manager RPITec. The interview was the technique for data collection that supported this step, being conducted virtually together with the manager of the analyzed policy. The interview was semi-structured, containing questions aimed at knowing the dynamics of the work carried out with the incubators and raising possible causes of their low evaluation. It was noticed that the basis for the first alignment of the distortions found in the evaluation is in the communication between the parts.
