(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-04-14) Custódio, Felipe de Souza; Gomes, Vinicius Tribuzi Rodrigues Pinheiro; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5519527278619089
This report presents the studies and activities carried out by the student during his internship in the Optics Group of the National Synchrotron Light Laboratory. are exposed some necessary concepts about the theory that involves synchrotron radiation and the lines of light, relating such studies to the Physical Engineering course. It is also shown the methodology used, the OASYS and Spectra software and the programming language python. In sequence, the results obtained from simulations for the optimization of optical commissioning of the IPÊ, SAPUCAIA and QUATI lines. The code SHADOW ray-tracing was used to obtain the expected parameters of the beam when along the line, such as beam size and divergence, images of the beam at the positions of diagnostics, energy resolution and photon flux. Simulations were also carried out misalignment, which help in the identification of misaligned optical elements and verify how each degree of freedom of these elements affects the beam. The Spectra software was used for simulations of dipole or waver type sources, for flux calculations, beam brightness and size, magnetic field analysis, phase and fundamental energy. Per Lastly, the optical commissioning of the IPÊ line was monitored.

This research aimed to investigate the factors that build and support a model of education for girls, which is indicated to be supported by socially diffused patterns of femininity. The investigation was based on the analysis of three books that are directed to girls, and that portrays their education in a certain historical moment, namely: As Meninas Exemplares by Condessa de Ségur; The Great Big Glorious Book for Girls by Rosemary Davidson and Sarah Vine and As Meninas by Lygia Fagundes Telles. The analysis was made from the intersection of gender and sexuality studies with childhood studies that problematizes childhood as a sociological construction. As a result, the main models and ideals that refer to girls' education were pointed out, questioning the way in which these assumptions can/should be revised and reinterpreted in contemporary times.

The arrival of the pandemic radically changed the consumption habits of goods and services, starting to occur almost exclusively in the virtual world, which in turn, in the context of fraud, has a greater number of loopholes when compared to the physical world. This increase in the number of online transactions (predominantly approved by credit card) has resulted in a greater number of frauds. From the business point of view, it is extremely important that companies are able to detect a fraudulent transaction, avoiding damage to the customer relationship and also financial losses. Usually, in the fraud detection process, there is a predictive model behind the scenes, which approaches the ideal when it presents high performance in the detection of fraudulent transactions and this extends to legitimate transactions (in technical terms, it means observing a low volume of false negatives and positives). In this work, we propose to compare the performance of two base classifiers when trained in two different architectures: the bounded version of logistic regression against its unbounded version, both with l1 regularization, using both balanced data (via k-means) and diversified (via bagging) as unbalanced data. On the k balanced and diversified training subsets to be built, the base classifiers are trained, combined by a weighted average and the final prediction is judged from this average. The comparative study is carried out in a real data scenario, in terms of AUC (Area Under the Curve) and other test statistics, such as KS (Kolmogorov-Smirnov), for example. The results obtained can also be compared with other works present in the literature

Brazil is the greatest orange juice producer in the world and while it has countless juice brands, it also is the greatest exporter of the product. Among the main orange juice processes the Not From Concentrate (NFC) and Frozen Concentrate Orange Juice (FCOJ) processes stand out. The NFC juice are made with less processing degree than the average, having less shelf life. In the recent years they have gained prominence due to the search of healthy habits. The FCOJ on the other hand have a greater shelf life and, due to concentration, are easily transported. The Estate of São Paulo is responsible for almost 70% of national harvest of the orange fruit, besides the great number of sugarcane power plants influences the boiler’s fuel choice. Nowadays, there is a preference for less pollutant fuels that are economically viable and considering this tendency this paper looks forward to evaluate the substitution of two fuels, natural gas and wood chips, used and both indicated processes, for sugarcane bagasse, a largely available input in the region. This work is based in literature data and boiler and generator process simulations. From the results it was possible to conclude that replacing natural gas with sugarcane bagasse not only is economically viable, having a difference of 0,346 R$/kwh in cost, with total cost reduction of 84,43%, as it is ambiently recommendable. Little can be concluded in wood chips and bagasse comparison.

Data are key players in the Fourth Industrial Revolution as they enable the digital world to become increasingly connected and intelligent. Among the various types of data, personal and sensitive data demand greater caution throughout the treatment due to the information they can reveal. In this context, it is urgent to consider the negative impacts of data leakage and theft by cyber criminals, which, in addition to the legal and juridical implications resulting from laws such as the Brazilian General Data Protection Act, might be financially and morally catastrophic to companies, governments, and individuals. From the point of view of remote storage and access to sensitive data, the architecture of the software can play a crucial role in the security of a system. Today, several applications are developed following the architectural style known as Microservices-Based Architec- ture(O’REILLY. . . , ). Its popularity is due, mainly, to its advantages, among which are the autonomy of the entities that constitute the architecture, low coupling, and fault tolerance. The model based on microservices allows different forms of implementation, given its high flexibility, which can impact the security of the resulting system. Thus, this project aims to create an architecture proposal based on microservices that deals with sensitive data, based on the needs of the Amive project. The results obtained include an architecture proposal that considers aspects related to security, such as identity and access management and data encryption, and scalability, thus encompassing security issues to be addressed in future works.

The use of spatial data is constantly growing in several areas of knowledge. This information is stored in Spatial Databases, which use approximations to simplify objects and thus reduce execution time. Spatial queries employ spatial relations, such as directional relationships. There are a number of models proposed in the literature to identify directional relationships, such as the simple and detailed Direction-Relation Matrix (DRM) and the Objects Interaction Matrix (OIM), that do not have practical implementations. Therefore, application developers who want to use directional relationships need to implement their own versions of these models, which is expensive, time-consuming task and can lead to errors. Thus, this work proposes implementations of the DRM and OIM models in the R language, also performing experimental analysis to evaluate and compare these models. According to the analysis performed, using a dataset with approximately 100,000 spatial objects from the state of São Paulo, the simple DRM model proved to be the fastest since it uses less complex spatial operations.

Sugarcane stands out historically in Brazil as one of the main commodities, also contributing to the colonization. Currently, Brazil is the world’s largest sugarcane producer, with 750 million tons produced in 2020, representing 40.5% of world production. Approximately 28% of the sugarcane mass is reduced to bagasse, one of main agro-industrial residues. Discarded for years, it became relevant generating energy for sugar alcohol factories through its combustion in boilers, also providing a new source of revenue through the sale of surplus electricity. The versatility of sugarcane, alied with the search for sustainable sources to replace fossil fuels, shows the need of study and knowledge of the characteristics of this biomass, in order to achieve greater efficiency from the combustion process. Therefore, this study carried out the characterization of bagasse in terms of apparent specific gravity, particle size distribution with models adjustmentment, proximate and thermogravimetric analysis. Also, agglomeration process were carried out for the material with different particle size, as well as the combustion of an optimized pellet. The analyzed biomass was heterogeneous and irregular, with 60% of the particles smaller than 1.5 mm, favoring the combustion of the material. From the proximate analysis, high volatile content and low ash concentration were obtained, promoting ignition and reducing residues generated during burning, but its humidity was higher than 31%, an increased value, reinforcing the need for a drying step preceding the burning. The thermogravimetric analysis showed the presence of elevated heating value organic compunds, and the negative efects of the water in the material, with less energy released during combustion and a larger formation of residues. Its compaction was satisfactory, verifying direct interference of the particle size in the quality of the pellets. The higher heating value obtained was 16.22 MJ/kg, emphasizing the energy potential of this residual biomass. The importance of biomass characterization was verified through the results obtained, and sugarcane bagasse proved to be favorable to combustion for energy generation.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-04-14) Vieira, Nairana Gardete Peres; Bernardo, André; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5705402824877708
Extract, produce and dispose, this is the most widespread linear economic model today, which includes the generation of waste, the use of energy and finite natural resources. Due to the growing concern for the environment, the concept of circular economy has been gaining prominence to replace the current model that has become increasingly harmful to the environment. The circular economy (EC), inspired by closed cycles, proposes solutions that allow the circularity of resources in the economy. Resources that have great utility potential, useful life, easy separability, renewable or reused raw materials are valued. Brazil is one of the countries with the highest rate of use of deodorants and antiperspirants in the world, according to the Brazilian Association of the Personal Hygiene, Perfumery and Cosmetics Industry (ABIHPEC). Thus, this work sought to collect information about deodorant packages, mainly on biodegradable packages and roll-on and aerosol deodorant packages; analyzed and compared the environmental impact of these three types of packaging within circular economy practices; evaluated the existing alternatives and proposed alternatives for recovery and recycling processes, such as: recycling cooperatives, among others.

The general aim of this thesis is define and analyze the context of construction of contemporary environmental agenda of groundwater ressources at the global and local levels. The groundwater remained laid aside to the debates and concerns about water ressources management until the 2000s, When, from then on, a group of multilateral institutions, international organizations and scientists made efforts to develop the first multilateral management Project in Latin America. In this case, the Guarani Aquifer System, which crosses Argentina, Brazil, Paraguai and Uruguay, was the focus of analysis and received support from the Global Environment Facility, the World Bank and the Organization of American States for the elaboration of Environmental Protection and Integrated Sustainable Management of the Guarani Aquifer System Project (also known as the Guarani Aquifer System Project – PSAG). As a result, the municipality of Ribeirão Preto (SP), as well as its Administrative Region, gains centrality by being selected as the locus of analisys of the PSAG by reason of critical and confliction relationship with waters and land surrounding the aquifer. Inserted in this conjuncture, this thesis associates and transits through these two dimensions – global and local – seeking to apprehend the discourses, knowledge and actors that exert a kind of pressure in the construction of new mechanisms of environmental management of groundwater. Among the results, it was possible to verify at the global and local level the prominence of the technical-scientific discourse in the environmental debate, placing itself as primordial and necessary knowledge for the management of underground resources. In interface, a set of knowledge that distances itself from scientific rationality is annulled, since it does not have the legitimate repertoire to deal with this theme. The discourses mobilizes by certain agentes operate, therefore, as a regime os truth, exercisin a practice of exclusion of knowledge by establishing a true discourse about water management. Also, by making use of a discourse authorized, which is accepted by everyone in the political field, a specific way of understanding groundwater and the management is marked. This monopoly of legitimate knowledge is demonstrated through the reconstruction of the academic and professional PSAG participants’s trajectories and the reformulation of the statements developed by the technical institutions participating in the debate. In addition, this thesis reveals how this technifield knowledge will be used strategically by diferents actors and economic agents that aim at the implementation of global and local regulations and the appropriation of natural resources, which, after all, go beyond the limits of water and reach the explotation of the land. Specifically at the local level, the participation and analysis of discourses in the participatory arenas of water and land management allowed us to understand such complexities. Finally, we defend the hypothesis that the truths about the aquifer are constructed and disputed discursively. And, in this process of dispute, the consolidation of management instruments on groundwater envolve a set of agents that strategically mobilize knowledge and discourses capable of producing reflections in the field of naming the environmental theme and actions in the instances of environmental management.

Arthropods are the most diverse and abundant animal group in nature and occupy varied environments playing ecological roles that directly and indirectly impact human wellbeing. Despite this, invertebrates in general do not receive the same attention for their conservation as other animal groups, even in legal areas intended for the protection of biodiversity. Therefore, this study aims to survey the presence of arthropod inventory in protected areas in the state of São Paulo, southeast Brazil, and identify which factors influence and may be crucial for carrying out inventories, since this is the main tool to allow conservation measures for the taxon. For this, the management plans of the integral protection areas were checked to describe which one had inventories, which and how many orders were sampled. 61 protected areas were analyzed in the categories state park, ecological station and biological reserve. Only 13 protected areas (22%) presented inventories of arthropods. The orders that appeared the most were Lepidoptera, Hymenoptera and Diptera. The protected area with the most orders was Parque Estadual Turístico do Alto do Ribeira with 29 orders present in the management plan; on the other hand, Estação Ecológica Santa Bárbara had only 2 orders described in the management plan, being the smallest sample among the protected areas with inventories. For the total number of inventoried orders in all protected areas there was a mean =10 and standard deviation =8.8. We tested the factors that potentially influence the occurrence of inventories (date of creation and size of the protected area, nearest distance to public universities, predominant biomes and availability of accommodation for researchers). Only the availability of accommodation positively influenced the presence of inventories (p=0,054). Therefore, the investment in protected areas infrastructure and the research aimed at the conservation of arthropods are essential steps to increase our knowledge about the biodiversity of those groups and allow their protection.

Friction riveting of printed circuit boards (P.C.B.) and aluminum hybrid joints: joint formation analysis and characterization
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-04-14) Vilas Bôas, Maria Clara Farah Antunes; Blaga, Lucian; Gargarella, Piter; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4641435644243916
This work addressed the feasibility study of the Friction Riveting joining process on glass-fiber-reinforced epoxy resin laminate sheet (FR4-PCB) and 2024-T351 aluminum alloy rivets by investigating the rivet scale effects, the amount of copper layer on the surfaces of the plates, and their influence on heat development, and material behavior as well as subsequent joint formation and properties, including microstructure and mechanical performance of the joints. The research work was carried out at the Institute of Materials Mechanics Solid State Joining Processes Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon in Germany in collaboration with the Material Engineering Department of the Federal University of São Carlos. The one-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) approach was used to investigate the influence of process parameters on the process temperature, macro and microstructural deformation, and mechanical properties. The macro and microstructural characterization were carried out by light optical microscopy (L.O.M.) and the mechanical properties of the joints were determined by T-pull tensile testing. The results demonstrated the viability of the process for the case of FR4 material with AA2024; joints with good mechanical performance (828 N ± 65 N) were achieved using FR4 composites plates with reduced thickness (1.5 – 3.0 mm), the thinnest plates successfully joined via Friction Riveting so far. The downscaling was accomplished regarding the size of the rivet and the joints made with a smaller diameter (4mm) rivet demonstrated similar results to the joints with a 5mm diameter rivet. To improve and analyze the main process parameters, the Design of Experiments (D.O.E.) was used. Considering the effect on the temperature generated during the process, the rotational speed shows a high impact, followed by the material combination (one or double copper layer), once the higher rotational speed generates greater friction between the metal and the composite and the high conductivity of the copper contributes to the heating spread.

The production of Portland cement (PC) is seen as aggravating the environment, so scientists and engineers look for alternatives to replace this type of binder. Geopolymers have the potential to replace CP, as it aims to reduce CO2 emissions and contributes to high compressive strength. Therefore, this work aimed to prepare concrete from geopolymeric binder obtained with commercial metakaolin and sodium hydroxide (concentration of 12 mol) and pH above 12, respecting the Si/Al ratio equal to 2, which is appropriate for application in interlocking floors. Another point of interest was the evaluation of coarse aggregate from civil construction waste (RCC), especially those from red ceramics compared to conventional coarse aggregate (gravel). Application of civil construction waste in geopolymers is scarce in the literature, requiring a comparative analysis with CP concrete. The methodology consisted of preparing the concrete under the same conditions, that is, curing at room temperature and forming by sleeping pieces. Initially, the determinant characteristics analyzed for application were the compressive strength and water absorption, both at 28 days of curing. The results showed that only the composition of CP with crushed stone met the specifications for the application of interlocking pavements (39MPa), and that the geopolymer matrices are strongly dependent on the degree of crystallinity of the precursor and suitability of the activator, factors that were only confirmed by new compositions. with metakaolin of different Christianity and different activator of the same pH (composed of a mixture of silicate and sodium hydroxide). It was concluded that the previous characterization of the precursor raw material is important, especially regarding its chemical composition and crystallinity. For the development of geopolymer concrete for interlocking pavements, the produced and/or commercial metakaolin used in the matrix were exclusively contributors to the low compressive strength obtained.

The drying process in industrial scale is a unit operation that demands large amounts of thermal energy. This process always needs to be done in an optimized way. Fixed beds are commonly found in the chemical industry as packed columns and have lots of practical applications. Even though the fixed bed drying process is used only in minor scales, knowing the mechanisms of this process could be useful to understand and extend the knowledge in other applications, such as solid drying in treadmill and prevent the dynamic behavior in storage silos, for example. In a way, thick fixed beds prevent mechanic shocks, because the particulate material don’t move, but can cause significative temperature and moisture gradients during the process. In the drying process, the products that are closer of the hot air entrance dry faster than the products that are on the top. This kind of unevenness can be a problem, depending on the application. An alternative to overcome this situation is to reverse the hot air flow in time to time, sometimes ascending, sometimes descending. The objective of this work was to show de influence of the dimensions of the fixed bed in the homogenous drying process of alumina using the air flow reversal technique. Numerical tests were made using a program in Matlab software, developed in the Particulate Systems area of the Chemical Engineering Department of UFSCar. By the analysis of the results of the simulations, this study intends to analyze what happens with the fixed bed when it gains or loses volume, changing the bed height.

Since the progress of accessibility policies promotion such as Law 10,098/00, Decree 5,626/05 and the Brazilian Inclusion Law n. 13.146/2015 and Normative Instructions by National Film Agency (ANCINE) aiming at encouraging the production of audiovisual Brazilian works with accessibility resources like subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, audio description and Libras Windows screen inset, research in the area of audiovisual translation of sign language have been growing significantly in Brazil. This investigation begins after the author's 2019 to 2020 analysis, who has found many obstacles in having access to these materials and also, has come across many variations of its application on screen. The objective of this study was to investigate the translation strategies and processes used in the documentary “Meu Corpo é Político” by Alice Riff, which, in the version used here, presents a proposal for positioning Libras windows different from the rules proposed by the Brazilian Association of Technical Norms (Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas – ABNT) and by the Ministry of Culture through the Guide for accessible audiovisual productions. Simple self-confrontation is adopted as a methodological device, which allows the protagonist of an activity to come across, discursively, with his own doing. Allowing himself to reflect upon its own practices and choices, in addition to perceiving the temporal marks on a finished work, in a critical manner. The device, in this study, was performed in a virtual way with the two translators of the chosen work. The research has a qualitative approach and uses bakhtinian studies as the theoretical foundation of the perception of language. For the data analysis, segments of the self-confrontation were transcripted using Nascimento's (2016) proposal. This research found that the translators are very influenced by the audiovisual piece and when confronted with their past work, question their choices in may levels, and explicits that the accessibility resources are still very neglected in the field. The objectives of this research are not only to contribute to the research field but also to reflect on the translator’s practices and to document those that have already been in progress.

Papel das integrinas αvβ3 e α5β1 na migração de células de tumor de mama triplo negativo e células endoteliais em hipóxia

Breast tumors show high incidence and mortality for female oncologic cases in 2020. Tumor microenvironment presents several elements, such as extracellular matrix (ECM). ECM proteins bind to cells through receptors such as the integrins that control cellular processes. Patterns of integrin expression are changed in tumor cells compared with non-tumor cells. Thus, integrins are studied as possible targets for cancer treatment and metastases prevention. However, most inhibitor effects described in literature are in normoxia, a different condition that is found in the tumor microenvironment. DisBa-01, recombinant protein from Bothrops alternatus, is an αVβ3 integrin blocker, induces loss of OSSC (Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma) directionally in fibronectin coating, is anti-angiogenic, and inhibits VEGF and VEGFR2 expression in endothelial cell. Until now, these studies were done in-vitro in normoxia and 2D culture, beyond that interactions with secondaries targets. This project studied the effect of blocking αVβ3 integrin treated with DisBa-01 in breast tumor cells (MDA-MB-231) and endothelial cells (HUVEC) in 2D and 3D cultures under hypoxia. We analyzed possible interactions between DisBa-01, ECM proteins and VEGF-R2. We used migratory models including Boyden chamber, endothelial transmigration, wound healing assay treated with DisBa-01. DisBa-01 induced similar effects in normoxia and hypoxia in transwell migration and endothelial transmigration for MDA-MB-231 cells. For wound healing assays, higher concentrations of DisBa-01 were necessary for migration inhibition. DisBa-01 (1000 nM) inhibits tube formation, transwell migration and wound healing assay under hypoxia. For 3D culture, migration inhibition from compact aggregates produced by MDA-MB-231 cell and spheroid produced by HUVEC are similar in both oxygenations treated with DisBa-01. DisBa-01 binds to fibronectin (FN), vitronectin (VN) and VEGFR2 with lower affinity compared with αVβ3 integrin. DisBa-01-αVβ3 integrin-complex interaction colocalizes with FN and VN in HUVEC. These results show that αVβ3 integrin function in cellular motility depends on the assay and oxygenation condition, and higher concentration of inhibitor to cause the same effect in normoxia.

In this way, it was possible to verify that the experience of being at school and experiencing all the activities it proposes, for example, working together with teachers, planning and developing activities and understanding the daily lives of students, was of great importance for my training. Furthermore, this report emphasizes the teacher that, based on experience, living and learning, I desire to become.

CORAL: machine learning e matrizes de rotação aplicados a resolução de sistemas multivariados
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-04-14) Torquato, Igor Ferreira; Figueroa, Santiago José Alejandro; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7331540857599068; Ferri, Fabio Aparecido; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8314629367795792
CORAL (Curve ResOlution for dAta anaLysis) is a Python-based library of chemometric tools for multivariate spectral decomposition of large datasets, especially those where the techniques involved obey Beer's law or a form of linear data combination. . Researchers can use it in the Jupyter environment to address challenges related to the large number of spectra generated by rapid data acquisition during time-resolved catalytic reaction studies. In addition to allowing the establishment of a unique experimental notebook for controlling the beamlines of the fourth generation particle accelerator, Sirius, and analyzing data in Jupyter. Despite being versatile, multivariate techniques, such as MCR-ALS (Multivariate Curve Resolution with Alternating Least Squares) and PCA (Principal Component Analysis), present problems inherent to spectral decomposition, since in each decomposition there are multiple responses. that satisfy the system of matrix equations the variability of responses is known as Rotational Ambiguity (ARs). In this aspect, the study of ARs can reveal important information about the studied system, such as the error associated with each pure compound found by the multivariate methods. The present project intends to present the developments of CORAL, complement the studies of ARs and evaluate how the constraints (constraints) affect the spectral decomposition responses, applying the study of plausible solution areas and transformation matrices to observe the evolution of solution spaces for a dataset with two components. Thus, the objective of this project is to add a new tool to CORAL so that its users can enjoy a more complete analysis of the data sets, in order to guarantee the choice of the best solutions. Furthermore, preliminary analyzes suggest that the method can be used as an estimate of the error associated with rotational ambiguity and the spectra and concentrations can be an initial estimate of the MCR-ALS.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease that causes damage associated with memory and thinking, causing a gradual decline in judgment, reasoning and learning. One of the ways to aid in the diagnosis of AD is the analysis of structural magnetic resonance (MR) images of the patient. Recent studies use computer vision, image processing and machine learning techniques to help diagnose AD. This work aims to extract features from MR images with stacked autoencoders and stacked convolutional autoencoders, and classify MR images via XGBoost into cognitively normal (CN) and AD classes. This work also compares Mean Squared Error (MSE) and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) metrics as loss functions in autoencoders.
