The determination of three-dimensional movements allows not only the prediction of objects trajectories, but also their attitude control. The rotational movement of rigid bodies, focus of this work, can be parameterized through means of several tools. The technique formulated by Leonhard Euler and that bears his name, is widely used to specify the attitude of objects in tridimensional space. However, for some occasions, Euler's Theorem of Rotations makes this parameterization unfeasible because it presents mathematical singularities that result in the loss of control of the body. As not all singular cases are due to physical factors, it is possible to deal with these cases taking hold of another mathematical artifice for analysis, known as Quaternions, and that despite being a less intuitive way, it does not present analytical singularities. In this work, we will present an exploration for both methods and consequent comparison, in order to find the forms of conversion from one tool to another, and how each one behaves when singularities arise. Finally, three situations with different rotations of a symmetric gyroscope will be simulated, being the first one an indeterminacy-free situation, another close to singular condition and one exactly where the sigularity happens, in order to signal the differences in the behaviour of Euler Angles and Quaternions.

Intervenções de êxito no enfrentamento e prevenção do bullying envolvendo pessoas tímidas
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-04-26) Neves, Francisco Fabiano; Campos, Douglas Aparecido de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7847352503840983; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7667564763806333
The school routine can present cases of violence that possibly cause harm to students. One of these types of violence that can occur is bullying, which should not be confused or taken as a joke by the students. Having as characteristics of their aggressive acts intentionality and repetition, with power disparity involving domination, the phenomenon can be intensified and facilitated if it involves shy people. This is because shy people usually have a relationship with fear, which generates isolation and inhibition. In this way, after the conclusion of the Scientific Initiation research carried out during the Graduation, questions arose about how the topic is treated in elementary schools. The bibliographic research of the monograph aimed to identify, analyze and discuss successful interventions in confronting and preventing bullying involving shy people, published between 2017 and 2021 in public or private elementary schools, in order to identify what they reveal in terms of their results, to highlight the importance of such actions and generate a reference for future teaching practices. Thus, we selected four academic works from the Google Scholar database, chosen for presenting more results using the defined keywords, among thirty previously designated after reading the titles and abstracts. The conclusions point to the collective and the social environment as contributors to the positive results obtained in the interventions, with reports of overcoming shyness, support for victims of bullying and involvement of the school community in actions to confront and prevent bullying involving shy people.

The latex of Hevea brasiliensis is the main feedstock raw material for obtaining natural rubber. Latex extraction is completely manual and is the activity with the highest percentage cost participation in the rubber tree production. There are different systems and intensities of tapping, but it is necessary to highlight those that present better productivity, lower cost and provide better latex quality and uniformity. The present work aimed to evaluate natural rubber parameters of the RRIM 600 clone under five different tapping frequencies. Two identical experiments were installed, differing only from the tapping agent. The study was held in the northwest region of the state of Sao Paulo, in the county of Jaci, under treatment of the following tapping frequencies: 1 /2S d/1 7d/7 10m/y; 1 /2S d/2 7d/7 10m/y; 1 /2S d/3 7d/7 10m/y; 1 /2S d/4 7d/7 10m/y and 1 /2S d/5 7d/7 10m/y. From four coagulated latex collections, in which the dry rubber content (DRC) and the plasticity retention index (PRI) were analyzed. The dry rubber content showed no statistical difference between the different treatments. Lower means were observed in the last collection in the treatment 1 /2S d/3 7d/7 10m/y of experiment 1 and in treatments 1 /2S d/1 7d/7 10m/y and 1 /2S d/4 7d/7 10m/y of experiment 2. All averages of plasticity retention index were below the minimum value specified by the national and international standard. In this parameter, lower means of PRI were noted in the most intense tapping frequencies. In experiment 1, the 1 /2S d/1 7d/7 10m/y treatment presented lower mean in collection 2. In experiment 2, in collection 3, treatments 1 /2S d/1 7d/7 10m/y, 1 /2S d/2 7d/7 10m/y and 1 /2S d/3 7d/7 10m/y 10m/y presented lower means. Also in experiment 2, in collection 4, treatments 1 /2S d/1 7d/7 10m/y, 1 /2S d/2 7d/7 10m/y and 1 /2S d/4 7d/7 10m/y presented lower means,

Air pollution by particulate matter has been the subject of study by many researchers, where they report that these particles can penetrate through the bloodstream causing serious health problems. To reduce the negative effects of these processes on air quality, industries need to look for some alternatives to remove or reduce the amount of particulate matter to be released into the atmosphere. The bag filter is an equipment composed of non-woven (nonwven) filter elements, which aims to control the emission of these particles. This fabric, which forms the filter medium, varies according to the particulate material to be filtered, in order to have a high efficiency in the retention of the particles along with a low operating cost. Filter media for very fine particles have a high cost, making it necessary, to reduce the operational cost of the process, to choose the most suitable filter media for that operation. With that in mind, the present work aims to evaluate 100% meta-aramid filter media with different manufacturing techniques, one needled and the other hydroblasted. The purpose is to identify the most suitable filter medium to be used in the process of filtering gases in a bag filter in the secondary dedusting stage of pig iron desulfurization in a steel industry. For this, initially the characterization of the particulate material was carried out (granule distribution, density and composition), later, the characterization of virgin filter media (porosity, permeability, fiber diameter, permeability and thickness). The filtration tests performed were according to the VDI 3926 standard, which evaluated the collection efficiency for nano and microparticles, for the first and thirty filtration cycles. With the results obtained, it is shown that the gaps left by the needles during the fabrication process of the needled filter media, become preferential air paths and thus having greater permeability and porosity. It was also verified that for the thirty filtration cycles the virgin needled and hydroblasted filter media showed efficiency of close collections, but the filtration time of the hydroblasted filter medium was shorter than the needled filter medium, to reach the maximum pressure. After aging, there was a reduction in permeability and filtration time of both filter media. However, the hydroblasted filter media showed longer filtration time and efficiency than the needled filter media.

Inequality and gender violence should be reasons for concern and actions to overcome them, as, unfortunately, their rates have increased over the years. In the midst of this, it is known that education has a transforming potential and is able to contribute to overcoming oppression and exclusion. Pedagogical practices can result in the transformation of realities, while at the same time they can act to preserve society as it is. In this sense, the present research aims to identify and analyze the pedagogical practices that are being internationally documented on sexuality. For this, a bibliographic research was carried out through articles contained in the ERIC database, using the descriptors “practice”, “school” and “sexual”. The studies found and that are relevant to the research were selected to carry out the analysis through the principles of the Communicative Methodology, having Dialogical Learning as a theoretical basis. The initial results were 96 articles, considering only those that were peer-reviewed, presented in full and available in the database on April 29, 2021. The reading and selection of articles resulted in 9 searches for analysis. As a result, it was possible to perceive that pedagogical practices are being carried out in different areas of knowledge, containing transforming dimensions, but also excluding, which have a varied origin between the world of life and the system. From this, considerations were made regarding the training of Science teachers, such as the importance of encouraging and offering means for the planning and development of pedagogical practices that promote an Comprehensive Sexuality Education.

Avaliação do potencial antioxidante do tanino vegetal da Acácia negra em matrizes poliméricas de poliestireno após processo de envelhecimento acelerado

Nowadays, environmental sustainability is in the focus of the most important topics in materials science, and therefore, bio-based resources have become fundamental for the improvement of materials. When natural components show promising results in the properties under evaluation with performances close to synthetic materials, they represent a great advantage for the environment, especially when resistant to exposure to high levels of ultraviolet radiation and weather conditions. Based on the above, this work aims to evaluate the use of polyphenolic-based plant extracts called “tannins” from the commercially used proanthocyanidin flavonoid family as an antioxidant additive in crystal polystyrene polymer matrices. Polystyrene samples with progressive additions of tannins up to 5% by weight, as well as the control sample, were exposed for three weeks in a photodegradation chamber with UV-C irradiation lamps for the accelerated aging process. During this period, the Spectroscopy technique was performed in the Infrared Region with Fourier Transform and Attenuated Total Reflectance (FTIR-ATR) to monitor the degradation process. Using the carbonyl index calculation technique obtained in the spectrograms of the photodegraded films, changes in the degradation levels of the samples were observed. To complete the study of this work, the samples were also evaluated by the techniques of Spectroscopy in the Visible Ultraviolet Region (UV-Vis) and Contact Angle, which corroborated the results obtained by the FTIR-ATR. Understanding the response of materials when under application requests in aggressive weather situations is extremely important, given that in this study all concentrations of tannins in the mixtures showed an increase in antioxidant activities. The work reached the initial objective in the evaluation of the protective activity of the Black Acacia tannin when incorporated in polymeric matrices, being the sample with 5% of tannin with more expressive values and with antioxidant protection of up to 245%. Future studies will be promising to obtain better answers in the other properties (chemical, physical, thermal and mechanical) for an adequate definition of which concentrations could be the most ideal and effective for certain specific applications.

Throughout human history, agriculture figures prominently among economic activities. The notion that productivity in the field is conditioned to environmental factors is as old as the activity itself, but what we now call “an open-air industry” was the subject of intense investigation over the centuries, until a scientific basis was consolidated to substantiate human intervention on a scale never before experienced. The 19th century marks the history of Europe for its political, scientific and cultural events, and it is there that the foundations of the agronomic sciences reside, as well as the first industrial enterprises of agricultural inputs; the demand for productivity in the fields is driven by the economic model of an industrial society of mass production. The impact of this advent is crucial, so that nations with limitations in the expansion of their agricultural frontier could meet the demands of an increasingly numerous population. From the discoveries on plant nutrition, efforts began to target methods of quantification of these nutrients in soils, and their dynamics in incorporation by crops. It is during the 20th century that the methods of extraction and quantification of nutrients in soils are consolidated, which are widely used nowadays, so that laboratories around the world generate analytical information about the quality of a soil, providing a basis for an agronomic intervention; this is what we have come to call today as precision agriculture. This work proposes to trace a brief history of the plant nutrition concept, and to reference the theory and practice of modern methods applied in a chemical laboratory of soil fertility.

According to the literature, the process of continuing education about the theme of diversity has not been yet explored in all its potential, especially regarding to the role of pedagogical coordinators and Natural Science teachers responsible for Cycle II of Elementary School. Observing the importance of this type of training in that perspective, this study aims to identify and understand the perceptions of these school agents about continuing education for the context of diversity in municipal schools in the city of Araras, São Paulo estate. In this sense, this qualitative research sought to encompass documentary research to understand and to map the teaching network, as well as to guide the selection of schools and subjects. In addition, a more specific data collection was carried out with semi-structured interviews and a complement with a focal group perspective involving science teachers and pedagogical coordinators, in order to reach the main goals outlined in order to analyze the perceptions and possible actions of pedagogical coordinators and natural science teachers and about the process of continuing education for diversity in the years of Cycle II of Elementary Education in the schools around Araras city. Ten interviews and a videoconference were carried out using the focal group, in which three Pedagogical Coordinator Professors participated. The results indicate that school agents present conceptions and they are concerned about the working in diversity, evidencing, in their speech, the need for formative moments that contemplate these issues and they have dialogical characteristics, enabling the exchange of experiences and considering the identities of the subjects that take the teaching and learning process together.

The different land uses and the development of human activities in each territory, depending on the interaction between the elements, condition specific, fragmented and heterogeneous structural arrangements of the landscape, which can interfere with the balance of ecosystems, demanding the implementation of territorial management and planning, such as the consolidation of environmentally protected areas. The Itupararanga Environmental Protection Area was created in 1998 for the conservation of Atlantic Forest remnants and, mainly, for water resources in the State of São Paulo. The conservation of water resources demands an analysis of the interaction and the functional unit between the water element and the other elements of the landscape - vegetation and the slope, for example. Thus, the work was based on the analysis of the landscape in the APPs in each sub-basin of the Environmental Protection Area in relation to the potential for conservation of water resources, making it possible to understand the APPs in a situation of greater criticality. The main stages of the work were: 1. Delimitation of the hydrography and sub-basins by topographic maps from IBGE and MDE from ALOS satellite image; 2. Delimitation of APPs (buffer) of 30m to the channels and 50m to the headwaters of drainage and springs; 3. Obtaining the slope by the MDE; 4. Manual classification of Land Uses and Covers through Google Earth satellite images, scale 1:10,000; 5. Characterization of the landscape in each sub-basin with the quantification of each use and mapped coverage; 6. Characterization of the criticality of the landscape in the APPs of each sub-basin, through the Algebra of Maps by weighting and summing the values between the slopes and the uses and coverages in very high, high, medium, low or very low classification for the conservation potential of water resources, and; 7. Analysis of the similarity between the sub-basins by grouping data in exploratory statistics (hierarchical clustering). The APA has 1/3 of its territory covered by forest remnants, and in all 9 sub-basins, the highest percentage of APP area is classified with very high potential for conservation of water resources, with Sub-basins 6 and 8 present high similarity with each other and the most favorable conditions for conservation, precisely located in areas of conservation of natural resources, according to the APA Management Plan, while Sub-basins 3 and 7 present high similarity among themselves and high dissimilarity in relation to the others, with the highest percentages of APPs with low and very low potential, that is, the most critical areas for the conservation of water resources, focusing on urbanized, agricultural and industrial areas, associated with undulating and heavily undulating reliefs. The multicriteria analysis of landscape elements was useful for the analysis and classification of APPs with the greatest potential for the conservation of water resources in the APA, in addition to highlighting critical areas, which require special attention to territorial management practices and environmental planning.

The purpose of this study is to analyze through the perception of teachers of Hospital Classes, how their pedagogical practices interfere in the social representation of hospitalized students about the hospital, to understand the impact of teaching activities in this representation. In addition, we sought to identify which pedagogical practices these professionals develop to reconstruct the social representation, when negative. Therefore, it is a qualitative descriptive research, which used the methodological resource of semi-structured interview for data collection. Therefore, 10 teachers from Hospital Classes participated in this study. For this, they were recruited through a questionnaire in a WhatsApp group entitled: “Hospital Classes of Brazil”. The results found were submitted to Bardin’s categories and subcategories. Finally, it was found that the participants recognize that they are fundamental representations for the reconstruction of the hospital’s negative image. Therefore, most of them elaborate pedagogical practices with this perspective, using toys for make-believe games, digital resources and kits with guidelines and vocabulary about illnesses and hospital procedures.

This work sought to collect data from the literature about the root leafhopper (Mahanarva fimbriolata) in the sugarcane crop. The objective was to identify the circumstances related to the elevating incidence of the species in the crop and, presenting aspects such as its biology, distribution and damages caused to sugarcane, as well as to discuss the management strategies already reported for the pest and to discuss the main perspectives of biological control. For this, a search for reports was carried out through research platforms, using relevant keywords to the topic and selecting works from 1996 to 2022. For the item 'biological control for leafhoppers', the works were chosen from 2015 up to now to understand the recent background of the biological management of this species. It was found that until the mid-1990s, leafhoppers were considered pests of economic importance only in some plantations in the Northeast and considered of minor importance in the state of São Paulo (SP). As a result of the increased incidence in sugarcane harvesting areas without burning (raw cane) in SP and other regions of the Center-South of the country, M. fimbriolata populations have been increasing and causing significant damage to the crop. The losses caused in the productivity of the sugarcane field and in the industrial performance occur by the reduction of the photosynthetic capacity and the quality of the raw material resulting from the way of feeding this species. Nymphs suck sap from the roots causing damage to xylem vessels and preventing the flow of water and nutrients, while adults feed by sucking sap from leaves and, injecting toxins during this process. Its occurrence is significantly influenced by climatic conditions, with higher populations being observed in the rainy season and egg diapause in dry conditions. Authors indicate that species control can reach efficient levels if different strategies are combined, such as chemical and biological control linked to the use of less susceptible varieties and straw management. Studies related to the response of sugarcane genotypes to the attack of leafhoppers showed that the cultivars RB925211, RB867515, IACSP01-5503, CTC 9004 and IM76-229 were more tolerant to the damage caused or less attractive to insects. Regarding the straw management, studies showed a reduction in root leafhopper infestation when straw was removed from the sugarcane field. Concerning the biological control of M. fimbriolata, in the last 7 years, scientific production has focused on elucidating the use of Metarhizium anisopliae and has shown excellent percentages of insect infection, as well as their mortality. Authors recommend that chemical insecticides be adopted in contexts of high population, while M. anisoplae should be used in populations within the level of biological control so that the root spittlebug can be controlled without causing economic damage to the crop.

This Course Conclusion Paper brings cancer, which is currently one of the biggest public health problems in the world, as the main theme. Breast cancer is the most frequent among women, accounting for 2,1 million cases in 2018. Due to the urgency that the topic brings, the objective of this work was to develop two mathematical models using the Fuzzy Set Theory. The first model contributes to an accurate classification of the Breast Imaging Data Reporting System (BI-RADS), considering tumor doubling time and other characteristics such as shape, contour and density. The second model refers to Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT), which is a promising treatment for cancer treatment. BNCT uses targeted radiation with irradiated neutron beams, and due to the high selectivity of the 10B, only tumor cells are destroyed. In this modeling, important aspects related to the disease were incorporated, such as depth, distance to the heart and also the volume of the breast, to predict the concentration of 10B in the tumor. Systems based on fuzzy rules (SBRF) allow the consideration of subjective terms intrinsic to examinations and medical procedures, providing comprehensible data for specialists and assisting in the decision-making process. The results achieved in this study show that both models can be useful, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of malignant breast tumors.

PIWI-interacting RNAs (PiRNAs) are a class of interfering RNAs whose actions range from regulating gene expression to fighting viral infections and silencing transposable elements, possessing unique characteristics such as being from 21 to 35 nucleotides long, displaying an uracil bias at the end 5' and 2'-O-methylation at the 3' end. Transposable elements (TEs) are genetic elements capable of moving between host genomes, being split into retrotransposons and DNA transposons. The replication of TEs can promote harmful recombination events by generating breaks in DNA double strands, in addition to interference in expression, considering that their promoters can lead to aberrant transcription of neighboring genes. Silencing of these elements by piRNAs occurs in the germ line in the majority of animals and is essential for the maintenance of genome integrity. The problem of in silico prediction of interaction between piRNAs and TEs was addressed by machine learning using a decision tree algorithm, namely Predictive Bi-Clustering Trees (PBCT). In order to improve the algorithm’s performance, the interaction matrix of piRNAs and TEs was reconstructed by means of an Beta-distribution-rescored Neighborhood Regularized Logistic Matrix Factorization (NRLMFβ) algorithm. PBCT was applied in 5-fold and 10-fold cross-validation configurations, both for the matrix without reconstruction (BICT) and for the matrix reconstructed by NRLMFβ (BICTR). In general, PBCT applied to this dataset was not able to predict positive interactions satisfactorily, behaving as a random classifier. Comparatively, in the BICT method, PBCT presented higher values of AUROC and AUPRC. However, in the BICTR method, PBCT was able to correctly predict more positive interactions, which are, in fact, the major interest in this study. Potential biological applications and ways to improve the algorithm’s performance were also considered.

The increase in soybean productivity in recent years has occurred as a result of the adoption of field technologies. Among the inputs used, mineral fertilizers are the most expensive. As an alternative to mineral fertilizer and to produce in organic systems, the use of animals waste as fertilizers is an alternative with environmental, economics, social agronomic interests. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of the application of different doses of cattle manure on the performance of soybean plants. For this, four fertilization treatments were evaluated, one with the application of 500 kg/ha of the formulated 02-29-09 NPK and three with cattle manure at different dosages (2.5, 5 and 10 t/ha). The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design and the phenological stage, plant height, pods and grain number per plant, nodules number per plant and productivity were evaluated. Fertilization with cattle manure resulted in higher number of nodules, however with lower yields compared to mineral fertilizer. The change in phenological stages, plants, pod and grains number per plant were equivalent between the treatments, demonstrating that both providing nutrients for the crop. Organic fertilization, when carried out in different production cycles, can increase productivity to similar levels to those observed with the use of mineral fertilizer.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-04-26) Fogaca, Bruno Lincoln Tome; Silva, Antonio Fernando Gouvêa da; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9621931288117213; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0963913529373381
The current work makes a critical approach to the question of the role of pedagogical practices carried out in relation to the Currículo Paulista in the High School stage regarding gender and sexuality issues. During this process, this search’s intention is denounce the historical-social practices of gender and sexual violence that are promoted by educational institutions and in society by erasure or reductioning sex education in the teaching of Biology and in the other areas of knowledge foreseen by the school curriculum. Therefore, this work seeks to analyze and highlight the trends of conventional perspectives - in this case, conservative - in which the current curriculum is supported, by proposing critical pedagogical practices with the interest of overcoming fatalisms inside the teaching and learning process in school spaces. Thus, this academic work has the intention to bring some light about the liberating pedagogy through the deconstruction of generating themes in order to transcend the concrete realities of the students within an autonomous and humanizing education. For this, in this work, a qualitative analysis was carried out with documentary research of the Paulista Curriculum stage High School based on Paulo Freire's problematizing perspective methodology, and with the Delizoicov's three pedagogical moments about educational emancipation, in addition to the contribution of studies on gender and sexuality developeds by Guacira Lopes Louro and Nilson Fernandes Dinis.

Being a bicentennial market, the soft drink industries have one of the most consumed beverages in the world, such success is the result of the great performance of companies consolidated in the market that boosted the quality and visibility of carbonated beverages, this growth is noticeable when observing that by the ninth consecutive year, the Coca-Cola Company was the most consumed brand in the world. Given this scenario, is there still room for innovation and greater growth? In a world increasingly concerned with consuming healthier beverages, the soft drink industry had to reinvent itself for this trend, and attentive to this perspective, the company Açaí Futuro proposed a healthier product with national roots, launching the soft drink from açaí. With an eye on this national and innovative product, the present study carried out a bibliographic review of the production process of regular and zero sugar soft drinks of the Açaí Futuro brand, in addition to the ingredients that make up the drinks. A bibliographic survey was carried out from academic theses, dissertations, scientific articles, books available on digital channels and bibliographies contained in the company's internal files and companies contributing to the manufacturing process.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-04-26) Pereira, Letícia Rinolfi; Gil, Maria Stella Coutinho de Alcântara; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1673770301699940; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1884404898792657
The lack of data on the use of screens by Brazilian children was accentuated by the Covid-19 pandemic, which changed the way in which this use occurs. The main objective of this study was to characterize the use of television, personal computer and cell phone by children aged 6 to 59 months, from the point of view of adults, during the pandemic context. An online questionnaire was completed by 219 adults who lived with the target audience. The characterization considered: use of screens; co-viewing with an adult; participation in remote meetings; contributions of devices to skills acquisition. Descriptive statistical analyzes indicated that, in the pandemic, the use of the three devices has increased and there is a possibility of children being exposed to screens without adult supervision. The findings indicate the need for further studies in Brazil, which may also contribute as sources of information that support the optimization of recommendations for the use of devices.
