listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Efeitos da meta-clorofenilpiperazina (mCPP) avaliados no teste de catalepsia em ratos machos e fêmeas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09) Calerá, Aline Daiany; Reimer, Adriano Edgar; Oliveira, Amanda Ribeiro de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4993675879410961Meta-chlorophenylpiperazine (mCPP) is a synthetic non-selective agonist of serotoninergic receptors, which has been used in the study of several psychopathologies such as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). In these studies, mCPP has demonstrated motor effects of increasing or decreasing locomotor activity in animals in a dose-dependent manner and probably due to an interaction between the 5-HT2C serotonergic receptors and their regulation of dopaminergic neurotransmission. Some studies carried out with females have shown a possible influence of the estrous cycle on the effects of mCPP. However, more studies are necessary to further understand such differences. The present study aimed to evaluate whether mCPP induces catalepsy in Wistar rats, and to verify if there are differences in the results presented between male and female rats in different phases of the estrous cycle. For this, Wistar rats were used, 72 males and 77 females, weighing approximately 250 g. The animals received saline (control) or mCPP in the doses of 0.1 mg/kg, 1.0 mg/kg, 3.0 mg/kg, and 10 mg/kg, and the positive control group received haloperidol (dopamine D2-like receptor antagonist) at a dose of 1.0 mg/kg. After administration, every 10 min, a catalepsy test was performed, totaling 6 tests. Haloperidol was able to induce catalepsy in both males and females. The cataleptic effect of haloperidol was dependent on the phase of the estrous cycle in females, being observed in metestrus/diestrus females, but not in those tested in proestrus/estrus. mCPP, on the other hand, did not cause catalepsy in males or females, regardless of the phase of the estrous cycle. The results obtained with mCPP suggest that the motor alterations observed in previous studies are different from those that characterize cataleptic states. Such findings are important in the context of using mCPP for the study of OCD and indicate that the assessment of mCPP-induced compulsive-like behaviors would not be impaired by drug-induced cataleptic effects.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A imagem como manifesto: fragmentos de uma gráfica ativista brasileira(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-01) Faca, Camila Carvalho; Martinez, Vinício Carrilho; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7916014556126573; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5873839155165158In September 2018, millions of Brazilians took to the streets with their posters for the #elenão movement. In this period, there was an intense mobilization by graphic artists, illustrators, scriptwriters, communicators from all over Brazil, who worked creatively and collectively, giving rise to a movement of graphic agitation that started in cyberspace and moved to the streets. This research presents discussions about the production and reproduction of visual protest artifacts, tied to the use of digital networks, specifically addressing the relationships of this visual material with Brazilian society in the context of the 2018 #elenão protests.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Terapia ocupacional, registro em prontuário e as percepções da equipe hospitalar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09) Campos, Mirella Andreza de; Bombarda, Tatiana Barbieri; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8070700589653226; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2901031410565524Among the procedures carried out by the occupational therapist in the hospital is the medical record. The record in the medical record aims to facilitate communication among professionals, support decision making, promote the quality of comprehensive care, guide the establishment of the patient's needs and potential as a single subject and integrate the various knowledge. Aiming at understanding the use of medical records by the hospital team and the access to the records produced by occupational therapists, this exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, interviewed professionals from the multidisciplinary team working in a medical clinic ward, using the snowball method for participant selection. The interviews were conducted through the Google Meet platform, and the information was transcribed and analyzed by thematic content. The information about the purpose of this use was organized into three categories: documentation of care practice, consultation of data about the patient and about his care plan and communication/exchange of information between team members. It was evaluated that the records produced by occupational therapists help other professionals in care planning, and the consultation of these records is based on two categories: verification of interventional information for alignment of the care plan, understanding of the impacts of illness and adaptive responses. The content of such categories show the search for information beyond functional and rehabilitation aspects, as well as the impacts experienced by the patient with the process of illness and hospitalization, a factor that highlights an expanded and contemporary look about the scope of occupational therapy. It was concluded that the structuring of information was pointed out as a potentiality of occupational therapeutic records, however, there was perceptive variability about the level of clarity of information, a factor associated with professional training and the substantiation of information from the occupational perspective.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric evaluation of the Brazilian Portuguese version of the Vulvovaginal Symptoms Questionnaire(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09) Alem, Michele Elisabete Rubio; Chaves, Thais Cristina; Figueiredo, Vilena Barros de; Beleza, Ana Carolina Sartorato; Ferreira, Cristine Homsi Jorge; Silva, Jordana Barbosa da; Driusso, Patricia; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8898319491890063Objective The aims of this study were to perform a cross-cultural adaptation of the Vulvovaginal Symptoms Questionnaire (VSQ) into Brazilian Portuguese (VSQ-Br) and evaluate its measurement properties (structural validity, construct validity, internal consistency, and reliability). Methods Cross-cultural adaptation was conducted through the translation, synthesis, and back-translation of the VSQ-Br. Subsequently, 314 women completed the Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire, Pelvic Floor Disorders Inventory, Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey, and VSQ-Br. Seven to 10 days later, participants completed the VSQ-Br for the second time. Data were submitted for confirmatory factor analysis. Cronbach α was used to verify internal consistency, and construct validity was assessed using Pearson correlation coefficient (r). Reliability was calculated using the intraclass correlation coefficient. Results Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the questions were grouped into four domains (symptoms, emotions, life impact, and sexual impact). The model showed good fit (>0.95). The Cronbach α in this study was 0.85, reflecting adequate internal consistency. Adequate reliability was confirmed, with an intraclass correlation coefficient total score of 0.80. The VSQ-Br had a weak correlation with the pelvic domain of the Pelvic Floor Disorders Inventory, the pelvic organ prolapse domain of the Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire, and pain, vitality, and the social aspect domains of the Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey. Conclusions The VSQ-Br was validated and had acceptable measurement properties for assessing vulvovaginal symptoms in Brazilian women.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Autoestima e autoimagem de mulheres idosas. Sob o olhar de produtoras de conteúdos digitais em uma rede social(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-01) Custódio, Júlia; Pedro, Wilson José Alves; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8135701448186851; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5265675364894628Introduction: With the increase in life expectancy, the age distribution of the world population has changed to older ages. Along with these changes, the epidemiological transition and the increase in the feminization of old age were also born. Recent studies have shown that low self-esteem and the difficulty of accepting self-image among women aged 60 years or older, together with the constant search to meet stereotypes of society, have become common and capable of generating several biopsychosocial losses, including depression. Therefore, it is essential that professionals from different areas go beyond the limits of the clinical model of care, aiming to meet the needs of each person in their entirety, focusing on innovative actions. General objective: to understand and analyze behaviors, manifestations and positions of older women, content producers, on relational aspects of self-esteem and self-image in profiles of a social network (Instagram). Method: The current project is a pluviometric study, of a qualitative, descriptive, and documentary nature of netnographic, exploratory and transversal character, with an interdisciplinary theoretical focus in the field of Sciences, Technologies and Society and Gerontology, being determined by analysis, for a short period of time. Related to qualitative aspects, their central objective is the observation of content production and interactions, provided by networks, between older women and their followers in social networks (FONSECA, 2002).listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise da flambagem de paredes de alvenaria estrutural(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-01) Padilha, Tiago Montanha; Nascimento Neto, Joel Araújo do; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2747505817148030; Parsekian, Guilherme Aris; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7798651726059215; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6854921502566663This research presents analyzes of slender reinforced masonry walls built with concrete units. The analysis was performed with finite element modeling. The Abaqus computational package was used to develop the models. Slender walls are found both in buildings without a ceiling slab and in buildings with double height ceilings. The failure mode of these walls is lateral instability, also called buckling effect. Few standards allow the design of walls with high slenderness. Most standards and codes establish a certain maximum slenderness ratio value for which their methods are valid. These values have been questioned in recent scientific publications that indicate large capacity reserves in walls with slenderness close to or even greater than the maximum slenderness established in standards. The Brazilian standard establishes the slenderness ratio equal to 30 is the maximum for which the simplified method is valid for reinforced walls. The standard published in 2020, presents a more accurate method, which includes the effects of second order, to enable the design of walls with slenderness greater than 30. In addition to the formulations, the standard presents mandatory specifications. Due to the recent inclusion of this method in the Brazilian standard and the recent scientific publications, this research aims to answer: what is the accuracy of the method established in the Brazilian standard for the design of tall slender walls in structural masonry? In the parameter variation analysis, different reinforcement rates and different vertical bar positions were investigated, the compressive strength of the concrete unit equal to 8 MPa and 16 MPa and the slenderness ratio equal to 30, 40 and 50. The results indicate good agreement with the behavior of slender walls, but with imprecision regarding the stiffness of reinforced sections and with high loadings close to the critical load values. For all the models analyzed, the method resulted in significant reserves of load capacity due to the effects of geometric nonlinearity. Every wall failed due to geometric instability, indicating that the slenderness parameter equal to 30 to differentiate the buckling failure mode is adequate.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Sequência didática em perspectiva dialógica para ensino de ecologia(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-01) Bitarães, Vitória da Silva; Calzolari Neto, Anselmo João; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4906309581958797; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6983717663810971In biology teaching, and specifically in ecology teaching, the contents are fragmented. In addition, it uses teaching and learning approaches, developed in and for industrial societies, as is the case of significant learning, but in contemporary societies are information and knowledge, enabling communicative and dialogic interactions, but also increasing risks. Thus, it is necessary the use of teaching and learning perspectives that respond to these societies and at the same time enable the transformation of unequal conditions. The present work aimed to propose and analyze the proposal of a didactic sequence in the teaching of ecology from the Dialogical Learning and methodologically structured in the Three Pedagogical Moments. Both references are due to the dialogic action present in their own foundations. Moreover, it had as thematic approach, the disappearance of bees, enabling studies about the Ecological Balance. Finally, it is concluded that it is possible to study the contents in the school from the contemporary, but it is necessary the application of this didactic sequence to analyze the real effects on the learning of the students.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Estudo do efeito do silenciamento do gene ITGB3 em células tumorais de mama(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-01) Nunes, Ana Carolina Caetano; Altei, Wanessa Fernanda; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3727790337302830; Araújo, Heloísa Sobreiro Selistre de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4065824911933203; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3613731328474011Breast cancer is the major disease that affects women, especially the triple negative phenotype, which has the worst prognosis and metastatic potential. Included, metastasis is still the main cause of death in cancer patients and its development involves several stages and characters that play important roles, such as the tumor microenvironment and the extracellular matrix (ECM). Integrins also contribute to metastasis, especially the αvβ3 integrin whose overexpression is associated with every step in tumor progression. Among the molecules that interact with integrins, there are disintegrins, which are small proteins derived from snake venom metalloproteases. DisBa-01 (Disintegrin of Bothrops alternatus-01) is a recombinant protein derived from the Bothrops alternatus venom (urutu-cruzeiro) snake, which has a high affinity for this integrin. Thus, this work aimed to study the effects of silencing the β3 subunit in tumor cells of the triple negative breast adenocarcinoma cell line (MDA-MB-231). Therefore, the methods adopted involved the cell culture of human kidney embryonic (293FT) and wild and modified triple negative breast adenocarcinoma (MDA-MB-231) cell lines; production of ITGB3 shRNA lentivirus as well as target cell transduction and the validation of silencing by RTqPCR and immunofluorescence. We also verified possible alterations in the expression of other integrin subunits; functional assays (inhibition of adhesion, migration by wound healing and transwell), and the identification of metalloproteases (MMP) (MMP-2 and MMP-9). We compared the cellular responses of the silenced lineage with the action of DisBa-01 (1000 nM). The silencing took to a 69% reduction in ITGB3 mRNA and a 49% reduction in FN rich microenvironment, with an increase in β1, α1 and α5 subunits; increased adherence to FN (58%) and COL I (83%) proteins; decreased transwell migration (69% inhibition) and MMP-9, responses different from those obtained with DisBa-01. The generation of this new cell line opens perspectives for its use as a tool in future studies of the basic biology of breast cancer.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Estudo de caso: proposta de implantação de conceitos da indústria 4.0 para a coleta e controle de indicadores operacionais em uma estação de tratamento de água e efluentes(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-01) Massei, Alexandre Nocera; Silva, Edson Luiz; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9720274214573371Currently, in Brazilian industries, it is common to find routine procedures and data control performed on paper, or in an offline mode. With the context of COVID-19, the number of employees working face-to-face in factories has decreased, both because of the pandemic and the hybrid working model. With this, access to information in these routines, such as the collection of operational indicators, and the execution of these routines has been hampered. To solve this problem many companies are adopting strategies based on Industry 4.0 concepts and applications with the aim of transforming their procedures digital and decentralized, with as little human effort as possible. Industry 4.0 can be explained as a revolution in factory connectivity, associating people, machines, information, and knowledge. A more connected factory is able to make decisions faster, and in a more assertive way, since it will be based on more reliable data, processed in real time, with only computational effort. With greater efficiency and quality in operational work, strategic work can come more into focus. In this paper a case study was explored, on how Ingredion's water and wastewater treatment plant in Mogi Guaçu - SP was able to use common Industry 4.0 concepts to transform a routine procedure, the collection of operational indicators, which was done in a totally manual and paper-based way, to an automatic, digital and decentralized process. This approach brings new insights for the expansion of Industry 4.0 in Brazil, both with the human view of the changes that took place, and the technical view of how these changes impact the process as a whole. In this way, the objective of the work was to present inputs and results of a real example of the application of Industry 4.0 to solve a common problem, the collection of daily operational indicators of production, as well as the solution for the digitalization of these data and future display of them in a decentralized and agile way, built from the author's internship. In the work, which followed the methodology of presenting the main concepts used for subsequent practical application with the case study, it can be evidenced the improvements presented after the implementation of the project, such as savings in time for data collection and compilation, bringing an improvement of at least 2 hours a week in these aspects, and opening space for various analyses that were not done.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Construção de uma revista de divulgação científica para o ensino fundamental ii como estratégia de sensibilização ambiental para a conservação de anfíbios(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-01) Oliveira, Raissa Marin de; Fernandes, Hylio Laganá; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1315602045624096The Amphibia class is represented by the orders Gymnophiona, Caudata and Anura. In 2021, in Brazil, 1,188 species of amphibians were recognized. The group is quite diverse and presents several morphological and ecological contrasts. However, they represent the most endangered class among vertebrate animals, mainly due to human activities. The dissemination of popular beliefs and some tales and songs that promote the stigmatization of amphibians, generates damage to their conservation, as society does not realize the relevance of these animals to the environment. This work focuses on the process of creating a science magazine for elementary school students II, as well as the production of a board game for environmental awareness. The goalspecific of these materials is to present scientific information about general aspects of amphibians, ecological importance and the factors that are causing the decline of the class. The reading of science communication texts provides access to scientific knowledge in a simple way, the perception of science in everyday life and scientific literacy, as well as stimulates curiosity. Games, being a playful activity, are closely related to awareness processes, as they can also collaborate in the construction of knowledge. Through games, students develop different skills, such as: imagination, quick thinking, respect for rules and socialization. Thus, when associated with education, games help in social, affective, moral and cognitive development, generating several gains in the teaching and learning process.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Charges na pandemia: subjetividade e condição humana(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-01) Liberatti, Diana Siqueira; Gatti, Márcio Antonio; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0369563657842763; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5197707223423080This work has a main theme the subjectivity and the human condition in contemporary political cartoons during the Covid-19 pandemic, aiming at the analysis of speeches and texts that circulated in the first quarter of the social isolation imposed by the quarantine period, between the months of March and May 2020 initially. From an interdisciplinary perspective that encompasses the precepts of French Discourse Analysis and issues relevant to the disciplines of the humanities, with theorical contributions by Maingueneau (2007 and 2018), Burke (2004 and 2017), Possenti (2004), Han (2017), among others, the analyzed texts were selected in social media (Facebook and Instagram), being listed, mainly, the productions of the cartoonist Laerte and the movement that became know as “continuous charge”, and took place from June, 2020. Circumscribed in a certain historical-ideological materiality, the political cartoon text can produce a series of meanings from its generally intense circulation and the relationship it establishes with discourse within the interdiscourse. Thus, it was possible for us to understand the subjectivities from the meanings conveyed in the speeches, and to verify how the socio-historical materiality affects these language productions. In addition, we discuss the discursive genre continued political cartoon, showing how its relations as a discourse and social movement materialize.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Ler e falar a língua indígena Balatiponé dentro de seu contexto cultural(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-01) Quezo, Luciano Ariabo; Martins, Maria Sílvia Cintra; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9241992645160356; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3911-418X; Balatiponé; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8417951263528188; https://orcid.org/0009-0009-2548-0382The core of this Master’s Thesis is to present a Didactic Sequence of reading and practice of the Balatiponé indigenous language for students from the 6th (sixth) year of Elementary School at the indigenous school of the Balatiponé territory to broaden the knowledge of this linguistic system. It aims to generate social repercussions with the indigenous community in which the research was conducted, thus taking advantage of the interest of young people and adults in expanding their knowledge regarding this language. Another position of considerable importance sought here is that this work can promote a profound meaning to the University from a political perspective, understanding that this scope has been demanded by research presented by indigenous people from their presence as students. Therefore, the production of this material reinforces this symbolic mark in contemporary Brazil, which is the advent of indigenous epistemology at the University presented by indigenous people more frequently in the last two decades. The first methodological steps of this research involved carrying out a bibliographical survey with indigenous teachers who have already released language materials, as well as linguistic records of non-indigenous researchers, in addition to making use of the author researcher's knowledge of their mother language. The second step was to dialogue with teachers who work in the languages area at the Julá Paré School in the Balatiponé territory to obtain better information about what is being built at the school in terms of Balatiponé language. The third step, based on the previous steps and with the exploration of the author’s models who carried out similar projects, builds a Didactic Sequence to read and speak the Balatiponé indigenous language. To contribute to strengthening the training of professionals in Indigenous Intercultural Basic Education, as well as for school education in the indigenous villages, encouraging the resumption of the Balatiponé indigenous culture and language.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A outra face católica da economia solidária: atividades do Instituto dos Irmãos Maristas das Escolas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-02) Batista, Breno Minelli; Souza, André Ricardo de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7016915324466152; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0794829397530158Catholicism in Brazil has effectively enjoyed a number of advantages based on its former position as the predominant religion in the country, despite its steady decline in adherents. There is a relevant Catholic role in the development of the solidarity economy, as a matrix for such a movement. Several studies have addressed the relationship between Catholicism and solidary economic practices, but focusing on the organization Cáritas Brasileira, linked to the CNBB, without duly contemplating other Catholic groups, such as the Congregation of Marist Brothers of Schools, which constitutes the other most relevant Catholic face of the solidarity economy in Brazil. This thesis focuses on the work of such a religious congregation in relation to the solidarity economy, comprising the period between the early 1990s and 2022. The theoretical foundation is based on the intersection between liberation Catholicism and the principles of solidarity economy in Brazil. country. The investigation was carried out from a qualitative approach, using mainly documental research and interviews. The development of the research went through three stages, namely: 1) moment of engagement of the Marists in supporting solidarity economy activities; 2) the trajectory of the Marist Institute of Solidarity, the main organization of the congregation; and 3) development of solidary economic activities, which were linked to the Congregation, after the closure of the Institutelistelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Filogeografia comparada e preditiva na divisão leste-oeste do Cerrado: teste de divergência simultânea e identificação de características preditoras de quebra filogeográfica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-02) Silva, Luana Maria Deoclécio da; Moraes, Evandro Marsola de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3100796431732251; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5651295919883889The Cerrado is a vast savanna formation in central Brazil currently included in the list of the main global hotspots for biodiversity conservation. Despite the recognition of its biological relevance, the biogeographic processes that shaped the diversification of its biota at different taxonomic levels are still poorly understood. A relatively common pattern inferred in different Cerrado species is a phylogeographic break in the Brazilian Central Plateau, separating populations of different animal and plant species in an east-west direction. In this work, we combine comparative phylogeography with the predictive framework of machine learning to investigate the existence of synchronous events between species/population pairs that show the reported phylogeographic pattern and identify predictive variables of this divergence. The east-west phylogeographic break was determined through the construction of phylogenetic trees and when the authors of the articles reported the east-west division. We used Bayesian inference of shared evolutionary events to estimate the timing and synchronicity of divergence in eight taxa pairs comprising plants, arthropods, lizards, and frogs. Finally, we build a random forest statistical model using biotic and abiotic information to identify the best predictors of the phylogeographic structure. We identified that spatial congruence is associated with temporal synchrony in plants, mainly related to Pleistocene climatic events that preceded the Last Glacial Maximum. We identified multiple divergence pulses within animals that coincide with Neogene geological events and Quaternary climatic oscillations. Our statistical model predicted that biotic variables related to dispersal ability, gene flow, and habitat preference played a crucial role in structuring the east-west break of the central Cerrado lineages, consistent with the relative contributions of extrinsic and intrinsic forces that drive the responses of organisms.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Participação dos neurônios noradrenérgicos do locus coeruleus nas manifestações comportamentais e respiratórias ao ataque de pânico induzido por CO2(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-02) Ripamonte, Gabriel Carvalho; Batalhão, Luciane Helena Gargaglioni; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5850453468994497; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0751857279960309It is well described that imbalances in the modulation of locus coeruleus norepinephrine (LC-NA) neurotransmission are responsible for several psychiatric disorders, including panic disorder. Patients with such a disorder are more sensitive to changes in CO2/pH and therefore are more likely to experience the "suffocation false alarm" which, in turn, triggers the panic attack. LC-NA neurons are involved in ventilatory responses to moderate concentrations of CO2/pH; however, its involvement in behavioral and respiratory responses to severe acidification is still unknown. We investigated the participation of LC-NA neurons by using C56BL/6 mice with a conditional knockout allele of Dbh (DbhcKO) crossed with En1cre (En1CreDbhcKO - LC-NA mutants). In addition, an hypomorphic genotype animal of the same genetic background was used (En1wtDbhcKO) as well as control animals (En1wtDbhwt) of both sexes (10-12 weeks; 20-25 g). The animals went through a period of habituation in ambient air, followed by exposure to normocapnic air (15 min) and then a mixture of gases enriched with 20% CO2 (7 min). The respiratory and metabolic response were VT, fR, VE, VO2 and VE/VO2 to each exposure. The behavioral responses analyzed were escape (jumping/running) and time spent immobile (freezing). In addition, the monoaminergic concentration in the brainstem and forebrain was investigated. A neuroanatomical study to determine which region of the LC communicates with the central nucleus of the amygdaloid complex (CA) and rostral ventrolateral medulla oblonga (RVLM), respectively responsible for fear and anxiety-like behavior and respiratory responses. In these regions, retrobeads were injected and the point of interest was evaluated. In addition, regions in which were activated in LC by 0 and 20% CO2 concentration were also analysed by c-Fos protein immunolocalization. The experimental protocols were approved by the local ethics committee (CEUA - n° 3340/20). LC-NA male mutant and hypomorphic rodents had a hypoventilation and a lower VE/VO2 compared to the control group. Furthermore, control male animals had a higher respiratory frequency then the same female group. LC-NA male mutant mice had a blunted jumping response (P=0.001) and more time spent in freezing (P<0.0001) compared to the other groups. Furthermore, LC-NA mutant animals had fewer racing episodes (P=0.0157) compared to wild animals. The En1wtDbhcKO group also presented a small number of jumps (P= 0.03913). No sex difference was observed among groups. In the brainstem, mutant males have a lower NA concentration than the control group (P= 0.03647). Furthermore, control males have a higher concentration of NA than females from the same group (P= 0.018141). Mutant females have a higher concentration of DOPAC than control females (P=0.003755). In the forebrain, mutant and hypomorphic animals of both sexes had a lower amount of NA compared to controls. The CA/LC projections seem to connect mainly neurons from the caudal and the dorsal medial-caudal region, while the RVLM/LC communication occurs throughout the locus coeruleus extension. Interestingly, most of the neuronal activation occurs in the caudal medial region of the LC in males, besides to the rostral medial and rostral regions, which does not occur in females. These findings suggest that norepinephrine originating from the LC has an important role in the respiratory and panic-like escape responses elicited in mice by exposure to CO2 in a sex independent way, despite being more prominent in males.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Avaliação da eficiência e do desaguamento de lodo de ETA em Leito de Drenagem utilizando diferentes geotêxteis e aplicação de polímero(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-02) Ortiz, Isabela Gagliardi; Achon, Cali Laguna; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0307406069325793; Kellner, Erich; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6855091004957784; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5991822463841383During the stages involved in the water treatment process, sludge is formed, which is characterized as solid waste and, therefore, its destination must be compatible with the guidelines of the PNRS - Law 12.305/2010, prioritizing reduction, reuse and recycling. In this sense, dewatering, understood as a method of reducing the volume of sludge, meets the requirements established by the National Policy on Solid Waste. Dewatering is characterized by the removal of free water, supernatant found in the interstices of solids, using natural or mechanical systems. Drainage beds, designated as DB and previously conceptualized as drying beds, are among these natural systems. This technique has shown to be interesting, despite the lack of research using polymers as conditioning. Several authors defend the theory that the WTP sludge does not need a polymer to be dewatered, as it already has chemical conditioners, introduced in the water treatment process, which would facilitate dewatering. Thus, the main objective of this research was to study the application of polymers as a conditioner in the WTP sludge applied to the DB, with a view to improving efficiency and dewatering. For this purpose, a bench scale Drainage Bed system was used, with a total of 108 drainages, including tests without polymer (SP) and with polymer (CP), with 4 geosynthetics (3 non-woven geotextiles and a woven geotextile ), a fixed total solids (ST) content of the sludge of 2% and 3 sludge layer heights (H10, H30 and H50 cm). Subsequently, in order to choose the polymer to be applied to the DBs, cone tests were carried out with different types of polymers, concentrations and dosages, with the respective geotextiles. These results were applied to the BD system, characterized as CP-cone for each geotextile tested. In order to study another polymer selection method, the BD system itself was used, since the TAS (Solid Application Rate) between these two methods were considered different. Thus, tests were performed, characterized as CP-alternative, using the same geotextiles. The analysis of the results highlighted that the CP - alternative tests were able to increase the removal rates, mainly for higher hydraulic loads, with TAS > 6 kg/m2 , with superior quality of drains for all hydraulic loads; the alternative method would be the most indicated because it presented high removal with satisfactory quality. Only the non-woven geotextile GTNT600 showed no statistical difference in dry retained mass regardless of the hydraulic load and the method applied for polymer selection. Regarding the efficiencies, the EF (%) was > 98% for the CP tests. For the ESST (%) the values were > 96%. Higher hydraulic loads obtained higher TSS removal efficiencies, regardless of the test configuration (SP and CP – cone and alternative) with values above 98%.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Fatores que influenciam a mobilidade urbana da mulher: estudo de caso na cidade de São José do Rio Preto-SP(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-02) Nanya, Luciana Mayumi; Sanches, Suely da Penha; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3857424839674606; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5668884386564690The initial objective of this research was to carry out an analysis of the urban mobility profile of women living in the city of São José do Rio Preto and the restrictions and perceptions that influence their daily commute that can cause exclusion from mobility. Due to the pandemic that started in March 2020, the research was limited to analyzing a group of women living in the city. The methodology used consists of carrying out a Focus Group (in order to verify the characteristics of the mobility of women in the city of São José do Rio Preto), and from the results, the elaboration and application of a questionnaire for the field research. Three Focus Groups were carried out in December 2019 with women living in the city of São José do Rio Preto, aged over 18, neighborhood leaders, university students, retirees, women employed in the formal and self-employed labor market, women with children dependents to travel, women without children and with adult children. The results of the Focus Groups were analyzed using the thematic analysis methodology of Braum and Clarke (2006), associated with the word cloud resource (graphic-visual representations that organize the words and the degree of frequency that the words are cited in the text) . Then the questionnaire for field research was elaborated and the data collection was carried out. Data collection, at first, used the Virtual Snowball methodology (necessary to reach the target audience at the time of social isolation). Subsequently, a second data collection was carried out using the Virtual Snowball methodology again associated with the active search for women in the city (in front of the bus station, in the blue mall and in the ONG As Valquírias). The collected samples were analyzed using the t-test, ANOVA and cross-classification statistics, with a significance level of α = 0.05 and 95% confidence in the result. The results show that for all mobility restrictions (time restriction, perception of insecurity, economic restriction, perception of difficulty in accessing urban activities, perception of insecurity, perception related to the quality of transport infrastructure), the existence of statistically significant difference for the means of the groups of women (p value <0.05 for ANOVA test and t test), for the characteristics of women. The results show that the profile of the woman who suffers the most exclusion from mobility for the group studied are women who use walking and public transport modes and transport by app/taxi, living in the regions of Schmitt and Talhado, with low incomes. very low and with an elementary education level. It is noteworthy that the results presented in this work do not represent the average profile of the city's residents. The samples collected were important for carrying out the research and the results limit the conclusions, but they are validated for the group of women researched.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Diversificação em formações xeromórficas da Mata Atlântica - um estudo de caso com espécies do gênero Pilosocereus Byles & Rowley (Cactaceae)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-02) Leite, Fernanda Mizuguchi; Bonatelli, Isabel Aparecida da Silva; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9946082913752883; Moraes, Evandro Marsola de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3100796431732251; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6638528740547092The Brazilian Atlantic Forest (BAF) is considered one of the five main hotspots on the planet. It extends in coastal regions of eastern Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, displaying a sizeable geographic extension and a wide gradient of altitude, latitude, and climate conditions. Although BAF landscapes are predominantly composed of evergreen rainforests, there are also areas with xerophytic or open shrubby vegetation in the sandy coastal plains and rocky outcrops. These abiotic features promote a considerable heterogeneity of habitats in the BAF, allowing the formation of different physiognomies and plant communities. Most of the hypotheses proposed to explain the origins of the high diversity and endemism in this area are based on allopatric speciation models, such as those built on Pleistocene Refuge Hypothesis (PRH) and riverine hypothesis. Here, we employed molecular data, species distribution modeling (SDM), and tests of niche equivalency and similarity (NES) using Pilosocereus arrabidae complex (P. arrabidae, P. ulei, P. brasiliensis subsp. brasiliensis, and P. brasiliensis subsp. ruschianus) as a biological model to address questions related to evolutionary history, dispersal barriers, and refuges of the dry areas within the BAF. We sequenced four molecular markers (1,514 bp) for 97 individuals. However, we failed to solve the shallow relationships between species and individuals, as well as to conduct population genetic analyses, due to the high level of saturation among the aligned loci. The NES and SDM analyses showed distinct niches for the P. brasiliensis subsp., despite the presence of a contact area between Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santos states, while P. arrabidae and P. ulei displayed low niche overlap during the last 130 ka. The climatic oscillation events imposed a central-south distribution to this species in the present time. Here, we also observed a break in the region of Jequitinhonha and Contas river basins, a region that may work as an ecological barrier, affecting the species distribution. Overall, the P. arrabidae complex seems to be an important biological model for understanding the demography and diversification of taxa from dry areas of the BAF. The prospecting and use of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) approaches, may be a promising strategy to evaluate biogeographic hypotheses in this study model.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A nonparametric bayesian approach for modeling and comparison of functional data(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-02) Moreira, Diogo Barboza; Salasar, Luis Ernesto Bueno; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5464564215528609; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7221959923579554The current advances of technology provides, among other things, several ways of collecting data, which enlarges the possibility of studying new phenomena. Researches focused on studying the functional relation between a variable and some quantity (usually time) produce the called functional data. The main feature of this kind of data is that they are registered using devices that can record values almost continuously over time. Suppose two groups of functional data and the interest is to evaluate the similarity of the groups over some range of time. This work proposes a method to compare the groups using predictive samples. The method submit data to a smoothing step using orthonormal functions series and the coefficients of the series are then used to model functional data, due to the bijective relation between the target functions and their respective coefficients. The goal is to estimate the multivariate density associated to the coefficients of each group. Under nonparametric Bayesian context, the densities were estimated using Dirichlet Process Mixture model. Comparison of the functional data groups were performed using a dissimilarity index based on some L2-distance and estimated using the predcitive samples of the fitted DPM model. The index has a great interpretative appeal and constitute an useful tool for data analysis. Furthermore, it is proposed a bayesian scheme to test the homogeneity of groups of functional data based on the distance between the distributions of the processes for each instant of time. A quick simulation study is presented, as well as preliminary analysis in real functional data set.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Tempo da reparação: luta e memória da comunidade atingida de Paracatu de Baixo, Mariana/MG(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-02) Marcurio, Gabriela de Paula; Villela, Jorge Luiz Mattar; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8301325600502054; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0501523188370610This is an ethnography of the Paracatu de Baixo community’s reparation. It was affected by the collapse of the Fundão iron ore tailings dam in the city of Mariana, Minas Gerais. The residents were compulsorily displaced from the subdistrict to the city, where most of them are now living, according to a routine arranged by technical employees of Samarco (Vale and BHP Billiton) and Fundação Renova, created by the mining companies to repair the damage. The main objective is to characterize the affected people’s struggle to resume their way of living. I show that memory has become the main way to access the community from the contamination of Gualaxo do Norte River and the destruction of the land so that the ways of life have become unlivable. Based on fieldwork, reports, and documents, I describe the imposition of technical and legal apparatus in the process of reparation. I reveal how the affected people deliver their requests in these patterns, arguing that memory makes them real from a community’s perspective. The disaster establishes a rupture of time, creating “before” and “after,” when the ways of living, thinking, and making were extremely distinct. The affected people summon the past to evaluate the present and to think about the future. Therefore, the community is brought to the present by speaking, which is transcribed into projects, maps, chats, and monetary value. Memory composes the technical ways that aim for fair and full reparation.
