    Music notation is a code that represents, among other parameters, the frequencies and lengths of musical sounds. It is vital for the musician to be able to distinguish these features of auditory inputs as well as the graphic signals that represent them in order to become proficient at creating and reading a musical score. In an effort to aid in this learning process, the current study suggests a training program for writing in rhythm. An online educational procedure was created for this purpose: over 24 trials, participants were asked to compose the musical stimulus they had heard by selecting and combining three graphic units (rhythmic cells). Eight of these trials (stage 2) were meant to teach each rhythmic cell's sound-visual relation., and the following 16 (stage 3), combinations og these cells. The participants were split into two groups: group A (n=37), where they were given a musical model and instructed to select the visual elements that would make up their writing, and group B (n=39), where between listening and responding, it was requested the observing response of tapping the keyboard in time with the melody. The size effect of the difference between the groups using Cohen's d coeficiente was 0.7 for step 2 (teaching minimal units) and 1.0 for step 3 of the musical writing teaching approach, which indicate the relevance of the observing response in the process. The current study, in our opinion, can advance the discipline of music education and highlights the potential computerized teaching software holds for it.

    Two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors, such as transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMD) monolayers, have attracted intense interest in the last years because of their direct band gaps, valley properties and excitonic effects. Particularly, TMD alloys with different compositions are interesting systems because of their band properties and possible applications in optoelectronics. Although spin-orbit engineering is already well known in monolayer TMD alloys, the valley Zeeman physics is still unexplored. In this work, we report on a detailed study of low temperature photoluminescence (PL) and magneto-photoluminescence under perpendicular magnetic field (up to 9 T) on a monolayer (ML) Mo0.5W0.5Se2 encapsulated with hBN. The nature of the emission peaks, the magnetic field dependence of polarization degree and g-factors are discussed in detail and compared with previous results in the literature. We have observed two bands in the PL spectrum. The higher energy band at around 1.69 eV was associated to possible contributions of bright and dark trions and phonon replicas of dark trions and the lower energy peak at around 1.61 eV was clearly associated to localized states. Particularly, the extracted g-factor of the trion emission peak showed a large value g≈ - 9.1 which are much higher than theoretical predictions for bright trions but is consistent with the values reported for dark states in the literature. Finally, our results suggest that TMD alloys are promising materials to explore fundamental physics and for possible application in optoelectronic devices.

    Guidelines for service-learning’s curricular use in graduation ensures 10% of the total student workload of undergraduate courses to service-learning activity. This policy has potential to offer benefits in mutual experience, through curriculum connected to reality, which is featured in the new national curriculum guideline. This study analyzed service learning’s activities from the department of materials engineering (DEMa) at UFSCar and opportunities for its curricular use in graduation. Both quantitatively, regarding the existing projects and activities, and qualitatively, debating conditions to service-learning’s curricular use. The methodology used was document and literature’s review to, as result of the first, verify service-learning’s documents, while the second was used to substantiate the debate. 9 programs associated to DEMa and 25 activities, carried out simultaneously with this study, were evaluated. A flowchart was created to demonstrate the feedback relationship between DEMa, materials engineering course and service-learning, reasoned by the principle of inseparability between teaching, researching and service-learning. In addition, other programs that are not directly associated with DEMa, such as junior enterprise and baja team, were evidenced. Thereby, knowing the whole service-learning’s panorama, their relationship with the course pedagogical project (PPC) was understood. Servicelearning’s curricular use is idealized in existing structure’s comprehension, evaluation of different contacts available to the student and institutionalist organization of PPS’s relations. DEMa has a vast and already established service-learning’s structure. Direct participation in this ecosystem is already planned and counted as complementary hours. Indirect ones, mainly real examples in teaching, are likely to institutional organization. Curricular use at DEMa, therefore, is a matter of formalizing the already existing service-learning’s structure.

    This work focuses on the issue of affirmative actions, more precisely those aimed at access to Higher Education. The object of study is the analysis of the implantation and implementation of Law 12.771/2012 at the IFSP Campus Salto, seen from the perspective of democratic management, understanding it from the aspects of participation, transparency and decentralization. This is an exploratory case study research, carried out based on the phenomenological paradigm with a qualitative approach. The main data collection technique is documental. We started with a survey of the state of knowledge, moving on to a history of the region where the object is located. The time frame is from 2012 to 2016, due to the implementation period established by the aforementioned law. A discussion on affirmative actions based on public policy formulation instruments was highlighted and the social nature of Law 12,711/2012 was discussed. After defining the concepts of democratic management, selecting and analyzing the documents, a discussion of the democratic biases of the quota policy at Campus Salto was carried out. Finally, it was noticed that Law 12,711/12 was implemented without the participation of the community and there was no discussion on the issue of quotas guided by the institution and actions to monitor quotas were not even instituted. The implementation process was centralized and transparency compromised by the lack of affirmative action follow-up.
