Item type:Item, O impacto do Programa de Extensão “Caixa De Histórias” no processo de formação profissional de Terapeutas Ocupacionais e a contribuição deste para suas atuações profissionais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-07-30) ;Gomes, Ana Beatriz dos Santos ;Pfeifer, Luzia Iara ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9065968448027440 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1826-1968https://lattes.cnpq.br/7340841940119773Hospitalization causes a break in children's daily life, and Occupational Therapy is responsible for seeking and offering therapeutic resources capable of helping to cope with the pathology and hospitalization. In this sense, the Extension Program “Caixa de Histórias” presents itself as an important tool for improving the context of hospitalization of children and adolescents, in addition to helping in the professional training of undergraduates through the development of assistance and interventions. Thus, the present research aimed to characterize the Occupational Therapists who went through the training and implementation process of the “Caixa de Histórias” Program, identifying what motivated them to participate in the referred program, in addition to the practices during the participation in the program. triggered in their professional training process. The study was characterized as a cross-sectional descriptive research of qualitative and quantitative analysis, using a form developed through the Google Form application, being sent to Occupational Therapists graduated from FMRP-USP who went through the training process and implementation of the “Caixa de Stories”. In all, the questionnaire consisted of 37 questions, 21 of which were multiple-choice questions and 16 essay questions, ordered into 7 general stages: presentation of the project, characterization of the participant, characterization of the program, impact of the program, skills acquired, importance of the program and personal perception of the former graduate student. As a result, of the 97 Occupational Therapy graduates who participated in the “Caixa de Histórias” Extension Program, 94 professionals were contacted. In all, 64 participants agreed to participate and respond to the survey. Through the results, the positive impact of the program for professional training of Occupational Therapists was evidenced, allowing the development of a professional reasoning and the development of procedural and attitudinal skills that can be used during and after graduation.Item type:Item, Estudo do processo de obtenção de filmes espessos autossustentados porosos por meio de sinterização seletiva a laser(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-07-31) ;Mendes, Flávia Bueno ;Andreeta, Marcello Rubens Barsi ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7904227795652627 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8436-5706https://lattes.cnpq.br/0972124399108050BaTiO3 is an ABO3-type perovskite with tetragonal structure at room temperature and is also known for its excellent dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties and is used in dielectric capacitors, sensors, actuators and sound detectors. The performance of these components, as well as that of any ceramic component, is strongly influenced by the characteristics of the precursors used and the processing route chosen. The preparation of materials by new routes can lead to the discovery of distinct morphological characteristics, and change the properties of these materials. A route that has been widely used in ceramic processing is known as Additive Manufacturing, which covers technologies that allow the creation of objects from a virtual model. One such technology is the selective laser sintering method - SLS, where a CO2 laser will irradiate the sample, producing surface heating in a time interval of a few seconds, making it possible to obtain bodies with different properties from those sintered by conventional methods. Ceramic materials, due to their low resistance to thermal shock, are sintered through indirect selective laser sintering - iSLS, where the ceramic material is mixed with a polymer that will melt during the process and bind the ceramic particles. The objective of this work is to study the parameters of the preparation process of porous ceramics by indirect selective laser sintering to obtain self-sustained thick films of pure BaTiO3. Also in this context, the results of computer simulations on the temperature distribution on the surface of the powder bed will also be presented during the iSLS process. Such study encompassed the elaboration of a three-dimensional mathematical model for the problem, the solution of the model through the Finite Element Method using the COMSOL Multiphysics software, and the validation of the results by comparing the results obtained with data generated in experimental work.Item type:Item, Cuidados paliativos oncológicos em um serviço de atendimento domiciliar: enfoque sobre as repercussões ocupacionais vivenciadas pelos pacientes(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-07-31) ;Chagas, Ana Catarina das Neves ;Bombarda, Tatiana Barbieri ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8070700589653226 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9478-7945https://lattes.cnpq.br/9064893740250627Access to disease-modifying treatment for a serious illness is a right of individuals diagnosed with oncological diseases. However, considering the life-threatening nature of this form of care, oncological palliative care should be linked. The situation of a person being affected by cancer, combined with the prognosis that leads to inclusion in palliative care, provides insights into how changes in people's occupations may occur due to physical and mental limitations. Disruptions in daily occupations as a result of experiencing cancer and its treatment can occur, altering how individuals engage in self-care, work, social, and leisure activities. Consequently, a reduction in the well-being of individuals with advanced oncological diseases can occur due to potential incapacities to perform desired and essential daily occupations. This study aims to describe the main occupational repercussions experienced by individuals in oncological palliative care. It is a qualitative exploratory and cross-sectional study, a multiple-case study approach, conducted with individuals of both genders aged 18 or older, affected by any type of neoplasm, and receiving palliative care from a home care service of a reference hospital in the city of Belém/Pará. An individual interview was conducted at the participants' homes, with a sequential administration of questionnaires. Information from the instruments was systematically organized descriptively, and interview data were analyzed according to the principles of content analysis. The results presented 6 clinical cases, where physical symptoms, emotional symptoms, environmental barriers, fragility in social support, and lack of future perspectives/hope are perceived by participants as factors that directly impact occupations, along with a multitude of symptoms present in the daily lives of each participant. It was observed that most participants attributed a sense of positive changes to some occupational repercussions experienced due to illness. Five analytical categories were identified from the interview data: "Self-perception of occupation's absence", "Occupational repercussions as a consequence of illness and/or treatment", "Influencing factors in satisfaction with performing occupations", "Conceptions about occupational repercussions due to illness and/or treatment", and "Perceptions of received multiprofessional assistance". Participants' experience of occupational imbalance was observed, with routines centered on the adapted performance of basic activities. The presence of multiple physical and emotional symptoms highlights the fragility of the guiding principle of palliative care in promoting symptom relief, as participants generally reported the presence of dozens of symptoms negatively influencing occupational performance. The expansion of investments in research focused on the occupational repercussions of palliative care patients is recommended, aiming to provide evidence that assists in perceiving similarities across different regions of the country and within various healthcare facilities within the health care network. The School Library is a political issue, so instituting reading and library policies is critical to democratizing access to various sources of information, promoting the reading of literary books and contributing to the formation of competent readers through a continuous process of learning. Embedding the school library in the teaching process offers students the opportunity to expand their knowledge, through the various resources and materials available in this educational environment. Given the possibilities of this space and the scarcity of research in librarian-led literary reading mediation, this investigation discusses the practices of reading mediation that occur in community school libraries, entitled “Schools of the Future” linked to the municipal schools of São Carlos-SP. From the interviews conducted with librarians, we seek to understand the knowledge, practices and dimensions of competence involving these activities to answer the central question: how does literary reading mediation relate to the dimensions (technical, aesthetic, ethics, politics) of the librarian’s professional competence? This qualitative research project uses oral history, since it analyzes subjective elements of the interviewed librarians. The theoretical foundation is very diverse, and its main authors are: Bakhtin (1981, 1997), Candido (2011), Castrillón (2011), Chartier (1999; 2003; 2004), Colomer (2007), Cosson (2014; 2018), Freire (1987; 2011) , Kleiman (1995; 2005), Lajolo (2016), Petit (2008; 2013; 2017), Reyes (2010; 2012) that address reading and literature; Bicheri and Almeida Júnior (2013), Bortolin (2010), Campello (2003; 2015), Campello et al. (2012), Milanesi (2002) that discuss the school library and the librarian; Abad (2003), Bretas (2014) that discuss public policies related to library and reading; Vitorino (2020), Rios (2010) that present the dimensions of professional competence. We concluded that: 1) the librarian is a mediator-educator and is fully aware of his social and educational function by committing to the work of literary reading mediation; 2) The competence that involves their knowledge is multifaceted; 3) Sensitivity and empathy are necessary to nurture a pleasant, critical and significant reading experience; 4) Competence encompasses the notion of doing one's duty well and requires a set of knowledge and skills that imply a position in relation to the context in which one is inserted (ethical and political dimensions); 5) Although libraries have some limitations, these spaces have contributed to the formation of literary readers; 6) The need for investments in infrastructure of the municipal school libraries is urgent so that this important project continues to be strengthened; 7) There is a need to elaborate municipal public policy for the acquisition of books and renewal of collections as well as to ensure that external activities can happen in the library (i.e., hiring storytellers and writers), ensuring the effective functioning of these spaces that enrich the reading formation of library patrons.Item type:Item, Bioprospecção de fungos filamentosos e leveduras para a produção de enzimas visando obtenção de etanol de segunda geração(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-07-31) ;Jesus, Gabriel Scanavachi de ;Montagnolli, Renato Nallin ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7455124733755299https://lattes.cnpq.br/7227397272783828Ethanol has stood out as a promising alternative to reduce the environmental impact caused by fossil fuels. Sugarcane, being the main raw material for ethanol production in Brazil, becomes a source of renewable energy. In this context, second generation ethanol appears as a promising advance, making more efficient use of lignocellulosic waste. Therefore, the use of physical, chemical or biological pre-treatments on waste is necessary to release sugars for ethanol production. Biological treatment using enzymes produced by fungi has proven to be an efficient and economically viable approach. In this context, the present study isolated four strains of filamentous fungi and three yeasts from decomposing sugarcane bagasse and, after the strain selection stage, three of these filamentous fungi were isolated, together with three yeast strains previously bioprospected. by the research group, they were used in growth tests in medium enriched with sugarcane bagasse, in addition to enzymatic analyzes (CMCase and FPase). The results obtained revealed less favorable growth conditions in medium enriched with sugarcane bagasse compared to control media. However, the strains incubated in medium with bagasse demonstrated positive numbers of FPase and Endoglucanase production, where strain L3 presented the best result analyzed among CMCase (0.47 U/mL), and L2 obtained the best result for FPase (0.25 U/mL). These results indicate the potential of these isolated strains for the production of lignocellulolytic enzymes from sugarcane bagasse, which is relevant for the more efficient use of lignocellulosic residues in the production of second generation ethanol.Item type:Item, New families of linear and partially linear quantile regression models under reparameterized Marshall-Olkin distributions(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-07-31) ;Cortés, Isaac ;Andrade, Mário de Castro ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6518161034709249https://lattes.cnpq.br/5497894016400216In this dissertation, we propose families of linear and partially linear quantile regression models, where the response variable follows a reparameterized Marshall-Olkin distribution with support on the real line. This distribution presents great flexibility and arises from applying the Marshall- Olkin methodology to distributions of the location-scale family and then reparameterizing the location parameter as a function of the quantile. For this reason, the new distribution’s name is reparameterized Marshall-Olkin, which contains quantile, scale and skewness parameters. The first family has a structure similar to the generalized linear models that enable the use of the maximum likelihood method. Consequently, we calculate the expressions of the score vector and the observed information matrix to perform the statistical inference. The adequacy of models and outlier observations are studied through three types of residuals. In order to assess the sensitivity of the estimates, measures of global and local influence are developed. The second family is an extension of the first family by adding the description of the nonlinear relationship between the quantiles of the response variable and a continuous variable through B-splines. In this family, statistical inference tools are based on the penalized log-likelihood function. Also, analogously to the first family, the residuals and measures of global and local influence are presented. Two examples of applications are considered that illustrate the usefulness of the proposed families for data sets in the areas of health and nutrition.Item type:Item, On the drag coefficient in particle agglomerates: a CFD approach to propose a new drag correlation(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-07-31) ;Oliveira, Ricardo Arbach Fernandes de ;Lopes, Gabriela Cantarelli ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5680967191791061 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4475-6075https://lattes.cnpq.br/7351904823405755In particle-laden flows, it is essential to model the fluid-particle interaction. However, depending on effects such as friction and attraction, surface properties, and collisions, particles can agglomerate, generating new irregularly-shaped particles. Such phenomenon is relevant since the geometry directly interferes with the flow dynamics. One way to evaluate how the particle will interfere is through the drag force. In the theoretical development of equipment, this force is taken into account and represented by the drag coefficient and is highly dependent on two variables: particle geometry and flow velocity. In the literature, several correlations are observed, obtained both in the experimental field or numerical field, using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The advantage of using CFD lies in the ease of varying the flow velocity and in obtaining the drag coefficient from the pressure and velocity fields. However, most of these methods employ transient formulations, resulting in highly detailed but computationally expensive outcomes. This cost increases exponentially as the Reynolds number of the flow increases, making the study of turbulent flows infeasible. Consequently, these models are generally obtained for Reynolds numbers below 300 and then extrapolated to higher values when implemented in CFD codes. Thus, this study proposes an alternative approach to the problem by using steady formulation simulations, aiming to reduce computational costs and proposing a new, simple, and unified correlation for the drag coefficient capable of encompassing a wide range of flows, from laminar to turbulent, applicable to irregularly shaped particles and easily implementable in CFD codes. Using CFD simulations with experimental validation, it was possible to obtain the characteristic drag coefficient curve over a wide range of Reynolds numbers (0.1 ≤ Re ≤ 3500) for agglomerates of spheres representing irregularly-shaped particles. By individually simulating the flow around these agglomerates while varying the geometries and flow velocities, a new correlation for calculating the drag coefficient was proposed, capable of fitting the obtained characteristic curves. In general, the results showed that the use of a steady formulation can yield good results provided that the mesh is properly refined and the turbulence model accurately represents the flow. The new correlation, combined with the use of flatness as a geometric characterization parameter, proved effective in representing the drag curve, with maximum, minimum, and average deviations of 10.78%, -7.62%, and 3.79%, respectively, compared to simulated results, and 14.36%, -12.36%, and 9.6% compared to experimental results.Item type:Item, Efeito do fungicida Indaziflam na germinação de sementes de espécies florestais nativas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-07-31) ;Cardoso, Verônica de Almeida ;Dutra, Felipe Bueno ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2753005636186745 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8713-448XPiña-Rodrigues, Fatima Conceição MárquezThe ecological restoration process uses techniques such as the application of herbicides to reduce weed competition with forest species in the areas of interest. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the germinative responses of seven native forest species Mutambo (Guazuma ulmifolia Lam.), Maricá (Mimosa bimucronata (DC.) Kuntze, Ipê-roxo (Handroanthus heptaphyllus (Vell.) Mattos, Escova de Macaco ( Apeiba tibourbou Aubl.), Mastic pepper tree (Schinus terebinthifolia Raddi), Wild peanut (Pterogyne nitens Tul.,), Taiúva (Maclura tinctoria (L.) D.Don ex Steud.) and Canafístula (Peltophorum dubium (Spreng.) Taub. to the pre-emergent herbicide indaziflam. The number of seeds germinated in 4 herbicide concentrations (T1=187.5 ml.ha-1; T2=150 ml.ha-1; T3=112 ml.ha-1) was analyzed ; T4=75 ml.ha-1; T5= distilled water - control) The species S. terebinthifolia (>30%) and H. impetiginosus (>40%) showed sensitivity to the herbicide, with reduced germination compared to the control. However, for P. nitens, regardless of the concentrations of the herbicide, they showed germination greater than 70%, for the species P. dubium, M. bimucronata, G. ulmifolia and A. tibourbou, they also did not show sensitivity to indaziflam. It is suggested that further studies be carried out with more species to better understand the action of the herbicide indaziflam and its effect on the germination of native forest species used in restoration. In situations where these parts experience superficial wear, a cost-effective solution is the recovery of the damaged region through additive manufacturing processes, particularly laser cladding. Generally, high cooling rates are generated during this operation. They bring benefits such as increased surface hardness of the region and grain refinement, but they also promote the accumulation of thermal stresses in the coating and alteration of the microstructure in the substrate. When these stresses exceed the tensile strength limit of the coating material, it is highly likely that cracks will form in its structure. The most recommended solution to prevent the formation of defects in the coating is preheating the substrate. With this strategy, it is possible to reduce the thermal stresses induced in the process, provide a more homogeneous microstructure to the coating, improve its surface finish, and prevent crack formation in its structure. On the other hand, preheating temperatures can impact the properties of critical regions of the part, such as the surface hardness of the teeth. In pinions and gears, the surface hardness of the teeth is a very important characteristic to ensure their durability. The quality of the coating and control over residual stresses induced in the substrate are essential for the operational reliability of the equipment after the repair. This work presents a study on preheating and deposition parameters aiming to enable the recovery, through the laser cladding process, of shaft necks of large-scale gearboxes’ pinions made of 18CrNiMo7- 6 alloy steel. Following the preheating recommendations for welding according to the equivalent carbon rule, a temperature of 250°C was defined for preheating the region of the shaft to be recovered (50°C above the tempering temperature of the teeth). A preliminary experiment of shaft preheating with a torch was performed to define the input data for the computational model. Through numerical simulation, using the three-dimensional model of the shaft and the finite element method, it was possible to conclude that preheating at 250°C does not compromise the mechanical properties of the teeth. To evaluate the quality of the coating generated with this preheating temperature, the deposition of the HGMET metallic powder alloy was performed on two samples of DIN 18CrNiMo7-6 steel through the laser cladding process. The samples were processed with different preheating parameters and laser power (sample 1: 250°C and 3 kW; sample 2: 400°C and 4 kW). Sample 2 showed good structural integrity of the coating, while severe cracks formed in sample 1. It is concluded that in order to ensure the quality of HGMET coatings deposited by laser cladding on 18CrNiMo7-6 alloy steel substrate, preheating at temperatures around 400°C is necessary, which makes the recovery process infeasible for some regions of the shaft as it affects the surface hardness of the teethItem type:Item, Desenvolvimento de protocolos para seleção de espécies e avaliação de funções ecológicas e serviços ecossistêmicos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-07-31) ;Francisco, Bruno dos Santos ;Piña-Rodrigues, Fatima Conceição Márquez ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1475369713141675 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8713-448Xhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/0670209258231584Economic activity, quality of life and cohesion of human societies depend profoundly and irremediably on the services generated by ecosystems, making it relevant to study the dynamics of generation of environmental services and their interactions with human and functional variables. For this we can use tools that help us measure and compare environments, species and ecosystems. In this work we used different protocols to evaluate seedling production, different ecological restoration techniques and different ecosystems in mountain areas. In chapter two, we created and used a protocol for the production of seedlings in a nursery with a more ecological approach, based on attributes chosen based on a bibliographical review. In chapter three, we used the ecological functionality monitoring protocol to evaluate three restoration techniques, one of which is called strip planting, a new technique in the literature that mixes planting seedlings and conducting natural regeneration. In chapter four, we created and applied the ecosystem service assessment protocol in a mountain area in northern Portugal. The adoption of sustainable management practices and the application of systemic data analysis by protocols will serve to improve methods of restoration and monitoring of ecological processes and contribute to the proposition of public policies that value the environmental services provided by different ecosystemsItem type:Item, Avaliação de sintomas depressivos em idosos com e sem demência segundo a escala Cornell em um serviço de Homeopatia em Rio Branco, Acre(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-07-31) ;Santos, Leonardo Matos ;Madruga, Kauan Alves Souza ;Lima, Luiz Fernando Melo ;Marques, Juliene de OliveiraSilva, Carlos Antônio de ArroxelasTanto a demência quanto a depressão são frequentes no idoso, com comprometimento das funções funcionais e sociais. Item type:Item, Hidro- & deuterocarbamoilação do alceno de Karady-Beckwith: síntese estereosseletiva da asparagina e seus derivados N4-substituídos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-07-31) ;Moro, Pedro Augusto Marocco ;Paixão, Márcio Weber ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3773908504964104 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0421-2831https://lattes.cnpq.br/6754104875149690The development of sustainable stereoselective methodologies for obtaining compounds of synthetic and biological relevance is highly important in contemporary times. In this regard, the synthesis of non-natural amino acids appears as a possible tool for modulating the properties of small molecules, peptides, and proteins. Visible light has been gaining increasing prominence among the methodologies used for obtaining amino acid derivatives. The use of light presents a good alternative due to its generally mild reaction conditions compared to classical thermal methodologies. Our research group has been developing photocatalytic methodologies for the synthesis of small molecules as well as amino acids and peptide modification. The present work explored the stereoselective synthesis of non-natural amino acids derived from Asparagine. Karady-Beckwith alkene was used as a radical acceptor, 4-carbamoyl dihydropyridines as a source of carbamoyl radicals, and the organophotocatalyst 4CzIPN for the preparation of 23 hydro- and deuterocarbamoylated derivatives in batch and continuous flow. The methodology allowed for the stereoselective synthesis of amino acid derivatives with good to excellent yields under mild conditions and metal-free.Item type:Item, Avaliação do banco de sementes do solo como indicador de recuperação em sistemas agroflorestais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-01) ;Melo, Ualas Marques ;Franco, Fernando Silveira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3218633711361955 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9093-9956https://lattes.cnpq.br/5159436426097049The use of seed banks has been widely used in ecological recovery projects around the world. The soil seed bank includes all viable seeds present in the soil or litter. To evaluate the composition of soil seed banks as an indicator of recovery in agroforestry systems. 128 samples were collected, 64 soil samples and 64 litter samples. The collection and storage of the seed bank considered the number of individuals. The arboreal survey considered quantity and diversity. The results of the analyzes made it possible to understand the interactions and adaptation of species to the environment, taking into account that all the information obtained is valuable and will serve as strategies for the conservation and management of SAFs. Information that may contribute to soil recovery in the future. In addition, it contributes to sustainable agricultural practices and the better management of these systems. Analysis of seed banks revealed that agroforestry systems play an important role in conserving biodiversity. It was possible to see that initially the herbs will colonize in the seed bank. However, seed bank analysis is just an evaluation tool and needs to be combined with other recovery practices. To better understand the seed bank as an indicator of recovery in SAFs, research will be needed to thoroughly study the composition of the bank.Item type:Item, Can you breathe yourself to a better pelvic floor? A systematic review(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-01) ;Bø, Kari ;Driusso, Patricia ;Jorge, Cristine Homsi ;lattes.cnpq.br/8898319491890063https://lattes.cnpq.br/2993471893400065The primary aim of the present study was to investigate the evidence for breathing as an intervention alone or in addition to PFM contraction in treatment of UI and POP. Materials & Methods This systematic review included short-term experimental studies and randomize controlled trials (RCTs) indexed on PubMed, EMBASE, and PEDro database. A form was used to extract data that was analyzed qualitatively due to the heterogeneity in interventions and outcome measures of the included studies. The individual methodological quality of RCTs was analyzed using the PEDro scale. Results A total of 18 studies were included, 374 participants from short-term experimental studies and 765 from nine RCTs. PEDro score varied from 4 to 8. Activation of the PFM during expiration was significantly less than during a PFM contraction. In general, the RCTs showed that training the PFM is significantly more effective to improve PFM variables and UI and POP than breathing exercises, and that adding breathing exercises to PFMT have no additional effect. Conclusion This systematic review indicates that the evidence for incorporating breathing exercise in clinical practice in addition to or instead of PFMT is scant or non-existing, both based on short-term experimental studies and small RCTs.Item type:Item, Comparação dos efeitos do treinamento físico com supervisão, sem supervisão e por meio da telerreabilitação na função cardiovascular, capacidade funcional e qualidade de vida de pacientes com insuficiência cardíaca(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-01) ;Silva, Esther Munerato Figueira da ;Lima, Carlos Henrique de Freitas ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6983619401674275 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0033-3740Roscani, Meliza GoiHeart failure (HF) is a state in which the heart is no longer able to meet the circulatory needs of the body, being the consequence of most diseases of the cardiovascular system and one of the main reasons for mortality, hospitalizations and impaired quality of life. There are several therapeutic strategies through the use of drugs or medical devices that aim to reduce mortality caused by cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). However, the magnitude of the benefits of physical training programs carried out in different scenarios is not yet well elucidated in the literature, including training based on the presence of a physical education professional within heart failure clinics, performing non-prescription exercise supervised compared to a supervised face-to-face training program or telerehabilitation. Furthermore, it is known that impairment of cardiac function assessed by echocardiography can adversely impact the exercise tolerance of patients with HF, making it important to detect echocardiographic variables capable of detecting low functional capacity in these patients. The work was divided into two studies with the objective of detecting echocardiographic variables with good accuracy for low exercise tolerance in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and comparing the effects of physical training with supervision, without supervision and telerehabilitation with supervision on function cardiovascular disease, functional capacity and quality of life (QoL). Study 1 was a prospective cross-sectional study involving 50 patients, mean age 62 ± 11 years, 65% men. There was an association between diastolic function variables E’ Mitral Septal (R = 0.55 and P < 0.001) and E/E’ Mitral (R = 0.30 P = 0.031) with shorter distance in the 6MWT and impaired QoL. E’ Mitral Septal, adjusted for a model of age and ejection fraction, was an independent marker of poor exercise tolerance (R=0.57; p<0.001). The ROC curve showed the cutoff E’ Mitral Septal < 5.8 cm/s with A/C of 0.74 [CI: 0.60-0.88; p=0.01], sensitivity of 68% and specificity of 79% for the shortest distance covered in the 6MWT. Thus, E’ Mitral Septal, in the considered sample, has good accuracy for detecting low exercise tolerance in patients with HfrEF. Study 2 was a longitudinal clinical trial with a sample of 18 patients divided into 3 groups. There was no difference between groups in relation to pre-intervention characteristics, with the final sample comprising 55% males, with a mean age of 62 ± 12 years. There was an improvement in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (P=0.002), in the distance covered in the 6MWT (P<0.001) and in QoL (P<0.001) considering the effect of time. There was interaction between time and group in skinfold values for muscle groups: biceps (P=0.04), triceps (P=0.01), chest (P=0.05) and thigh (P=0.01; P=0.03). There was a significant association between improvement in the distance covered in the 6MWT and in QoL (R=0.53; P<0.001). A favorable impact of physical training on cardiac function, exercise tolerance and QoL was observed in patients with HFREF. Regarding the comparison between the groups, although the sample is limited, no significant difference was observed between them.Item type:Item, Ensaios destrutivos e não destrutivos em cordão de solda a gás inerte com eletrodo de tungstênio na fabricação de tanques de aquecedor solar com espessura de chapa reduzida(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-01) ;Coroa, Edgar Bergo ;Afonso, Conrado Ramos Moreira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2176215981291453 ;Araujo, Luis Antonio Oliveirahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/3639906702064630TIG welding processes are widely used to join metallic materials of different thicknesses, such as stainless steel. These are processes used in different segments of the industry, highlighting in the metallurgical area the linear and circumferential welding in pressure vessels applied in the solar heating system. Metallic tanks used for water storage are generally made of 304 or 316L stainless steel plates, calendered and welded using the TIG process. TIG welding parameters such as arc length, welding speed, gas flow and welding current are critical, influencing process characteristics such as: joint quality, profitability, welding cost, etc. Scientific articles from journals in the area of mechanical engineering, materials and welding metallurgy were reviewed. The main focus was to seek information about methods, processes and analyzes through material tests for characterizations of manual TIG welding in thin stainless steel plates. The main objective of this research is to develop an evaluation methodology through the characterization of the weld beads between the body and tops (manual welding) of Solis pressure vessels.Item type:Item, Modelos estocásticos de transmissão para análises genéticas de características epidemiológicas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-01) ;Lima, Milena Nascimento ;Zuanetti, Daiane Aparecida ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8352484284929824 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1591-959XAnacleto Junior, OsvaldoEpidemics can significantly affect animal production and generate large economic impacts. Furthermore, current practices for treating and controlling infectious diseases in farmed animals do not always show the desired effectiveness. In these cases, the quantitative genetics offers a viable alternative through the study of genetic variations of host characteristics that affect disease transmission, especially susceptibility, and infectivity. However, despite advances, the challenge to estimate genetic effects that mainly control infectivity continues to exist. Therefore, the general objective of this thesis was to contribute to the state of the art in the development of statistical models that can capture the dynamics of transmission of infectious diseases and consequently improve the estimation of genetic effects on infectivity. We present a new version of the dynamic non-linear indirect genetic effects model (dnIGE) and an inferential method to estimate its parameters. Our methodology includes a covariance structure on the distribution of genetic and environmental effects of susceptibility and infectivity, which were previously considered independent and uses modern Bayesian inference to estimate the genetic effects and heritabilities associated with these traits. Results show that the extended dnIGE model can accurately estimate heritabilities and genetic values associated with susceptibility and infectivity, even when there is a genetic correlation between these traits. Our proposed methodology offers potential impacts in areas such as disease control in livestock through selective breeding and also in predicting and controlling the emergence of disease outbreaks in human populations.Item type:Item, Desenvolvimento de vidro metálico de elevada resistência à corrosão e ao desgaste utilizando ferro-gusa como precursor(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-01) ;Martins, Caio Lucas Gueiros Pedrosa ;Koga, Guilherme Yuuki ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0933095081175012 ;Botta Filho, Walter Joséhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/8956458007749112Metallic glasses exhibit exceptional properties such as high mechanical strength, thermal stability, and excellent magnetic properties. In this study, our aim was to develop a high corrosion and wear-resistant metallic glass from pig iron, a ferrous alloy with high impurity content and low added value. Two alloys, Fe68Cr8(C,B)24 and Fe62Cr8Nb4Mo4(C,B)22, composed of pig iron and commercially pure elements, were produced using an electric arc furnace. The alloys were processed via melt-spinning to obtain metallic ribbons and through centrifugal casting into copper molds to produce 1 mm thick plates. Characterization of the alloys involved X-ray diffraction, exploratory scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Vickers microhardness, electrochemical, and tribological tests. While the alloys processed by centrifugal casting did not vitrify due to slower cooling rates, they exhibited high hardness, surpassing 1000 HV, resulting in significant wear resistance. On the other hand, the Fe62Cr8Nb4Mo4(C,B)22 alloy produced by melt-spinning successfully formed a fully vitrified structure. This vitreous nature was confirmed through X-ray diffraction, including synchrotron radiation, and transmission electron microscopy. The glass transition temperature was approximately 553°C, with crystallization initiation at 574°C and a supercooled liquid region of 21°C. The Fe62Cr8Nb4Mo4(C,B)22 alloy demonstrated higher hardness compared to pig iron (1070 vs. 666 HV0.1, respectively) and greater stability in chloride-rich environments than the stainless steel 444, as evaluated by the passivation window before pitting corrosion (1253 vs. 738 mV, respectively) and easiness of re-passivation during the reverse scan. These results contribute to the production of resistant, hard, and cost-effective metallic glass alloys capable of meeting demanding applications.Item type:Item, Plano Educacional Individualizado (PEI) para estudantes com deficiência: um protocolo para utilização nas instituições de ensino(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-01) ;Santos, Jéssica Rodrigues ;Mendes, Enicéia Gonçalves ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3897627554738983 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3673-0681https://lattes.cnpq.br/4480385079062549With the increase in Brazilian public policies on Special Education from the Perspective of Inclusive Education, enrollment of public students in Special Education has been growing at different levels and stages of education. The same occurs with these students' access to the final years of Elementary and Secondary Education in regular education institutions. In this scenario, questions arise about guaranteeing participation, learning and success. One of the supports suggested by the literature to ensure the necessary conditions for the schooling of Special Education students, especially those with disabilities, has been individualized planning. This process requires collaborative strategies involving different members of educational institutions based on a comprehensive assessment of the student with disabilities in a collective decision-making process that will result in a written document. As it is a device yet to be provided for in Brazilian legislation, as is the case in many countries, educational spaces have many doubts about how to prepare the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). Thus, the central question in this study is what an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) protocol would look like that would contribute to favoring educational policies for the permanence, progression and transition to adult life of people with disabilities. The study's general objective was to develop and validate a protocol for preparing the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for students with disabilities in Basic Education. The specific objectives were: a) Compile and systematize an IEP protocol based on proposals found in practice and specialized literature in the area; b) Validate the content and semantics of the IEP protocol items with two groups of different judges: professionals and academics from the area community; c) Produce an improved and validated version of the IEP protocol. The research uses a qualitative approach based on the Design Science Research (DSR) method, adopted in education to create prototypes or educational products. In the first validation stage, 106 participants (professionals and members of Brazilian Federal Institutes) contributed to this research. In the second stage, 14 researchers in the field of special education contributed. Data was obtained through questionnaires on Google Forms. Participants were invited to rate the relevance and vocabulary of each item in the protocol. The items were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results were procedural and specific at each stage, resulting in a protocol built based on literature and evaluated by different judges called ProPEI. The ProPEI is a broad document to be completed by different hands after reflection and sharing ideas. The document was structured with the following fields: 1. Information from the educational institution; 2. Authorization term for preparing the IEP; 3. Student profile (individual characteristics, skills and challenges); 4. Characterization of the family and their expectations regarding the student’s development; 5. Information about the previous schooling process; 6. Description of the student's initial repertoire; 7. Characterization of team members; 8. Distinction of areas of knowledge that require adaptation or differentiation processes in teaching; 9. Establishment of specific learning objectives (short, medium and long-term goals); 10. Development of teaching strategies and teaching materials; 11. Necessary adjustments in the student's teaching and learning evaluation process; 12. Definitions of dates to monitor the student's trajectory and the adequacy of the IEP. The participants who evaluated the protocol consider it a document with great potential to contribute to the school's inclusion of students who need it. It is expected that this study and the protocol developed in it will contribute to the elaboration of the IEP as support to guarantee the promotion of practices that favor the participation and learning of students with disabilities in schools.
