listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Cartografia crítica da literatura digital brasileira: teses e dissertações(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Silva, Carla Agnes Nunes da; Rocha, Rejane Cristina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5669300635333699With the aim of identifying patterns among researchers of Brazilian digital literature, this final work presents the construction of a cartography of theses and dissertations published between the years 2006 to 2018, and available in the CAPES Catalog of Theses and Dissertations. Through search, mapping and analysis, the objective is to investigate digital literature as a “collective system” (Moretti, 2005), from Brazilian masters and doctors, analyzing the mutual recurrences that concern the research contents, geographic location, educational institution and keywords. For data storage and manipulation, the Google Forms tool was used. The surveys mapped mostly had theoretical content, seeking to understand these concepts in this new context, in addition to the largest number of publications belonging to UFSC and UEL universities, located in the South region. “Interactivity” and “Cyber Literature” and, finally, “Digital Literature”.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Estudo da ampliação da matriz energética solar brasileira: demandas, potencialidades e desafios(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Iwamoto, Evelyn Hideko; Cordeiro, Marco Aurélio Liutheviciene; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4787678071396324; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5690651365207546Brazil has almost 45% of its energy matrix originating from renewable sources, with the hydroelectric source being largely responsible for this share. However, this leads to a dependence on this type of source that is subject to rainfall variations and periods of drought, as has already happened and will happen due to climate change. In this context, it is important to diversify the matrix to bring greater energy security, which can be obtained by renewable sources, such as solar energy, whose solar irradiation rates in the country are high and with sufficient values for the expansion of distributed and centralized generation of photovoltaic systems. Thus, this work aims to evaluate the potentialities, demands and challenges for the expansion of solar energy through a literature review on these aspects. The aspects addressed are related to transmission infrastructure, regulations and the social, environmental and economic impacts of these systems. It was observed that there are several advantages and disadvantages when it comes to centralized and distributed generation and that it is a subject in which there is much room for discussion between government agencies, distributors, consumers and companies, as it is a recent subject in Brazil.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, O engajamento ocupacional materno em unidade canguru diante do contexto de pandemia por covid-19(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Benassule, Stéfannie Cardoso; Joaquim, Regina Helena Vitale Torkomian; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7719481657895650; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3700-397X; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3734446704005285; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0560-8715Background: Worldwide rates of prematurity and low birth weight range from 15 to 20%, these being risk factors for neonatal mortality. Still, the complications of premature birth are the main causes of death in the first five years of life. The Kangaroo Mother Care is a public policy that presents itself as an alternative to conventional neonatal care, aiming at the quality of care offered to low birth weight babies and their families. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which required a sudden reorganization of hospital routines, there was an impact on the care guidelines recommended by the Method. In Brazil, the UCINCa were adapted in their work flows, with the adoption of care such as the prevention of crowds and access only to asymptomatic people. Considering that the Kangaroo Mother Care is a model of care that prioritizes the mother's participation in the care given to the child and that their engagement in the care of the baby is considered fundamental so that they can recognize themselves in motherhood, performing it is part of the maternal role, that begins in this period in which the newborn is in neonatal care. Objective: To understand the occupational engagement of mothers inserted in phase II of the Kangaroo Method in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic; specifically, to characterize the Kangaroo Intermediate Care Unit in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and to identify aspects that favor and limit maternal occupational engagement in baby care. Method: Qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study. Data were collected during the baby's hospitalization, at the Kangaroo Intermediate Care Unit, in a reference Santa Casa de Misericórdia in the State of Pará. The following instruments were used for data collection: Sociodemographic Questionnaire; Semi-structured interview script; Occupational self-assessment – OSA-BR; and Field Diary. Data were systematized, tabulated and described in detail. The results of the interviews were analyzed based on content analysis, in the thematic modality. Results: Nine mothers of preterm newborns inserted in the second stage of the Kangaroo Method in the Intermediate Care Unit participated. From the data produced from the interviews, three thematic categories emerged: Daily routines in a kangaroo unit – taking care of the baby and taking care of yourself; Kangaroo position: Practicing and knowing the benefits and Performing the Kangaroo Mother Care during the COVID-19 pandemic, which unfold into nine subcategories that reveal aspects of the participants' engagement in the face of a new role played in the care of their premature baby and in a pandemic context . The results of the OSA-BR demonstrate the occupational competence related, mainly, to the care of the other and the reduction of the importance of the mothers in relation to their self-care in this context. Discussion: It is observed that understanding the Kangaroo Method from the occupational concept can favor the engagement of the participants, as it is about making the execution of care meaningful, seeking to relate the process of the mother-baby bond, learning according to the recommendations of the Method and with the support of the health team, as well as the difficulties and feelings that permeate this moment. Conclusion: The research brings elements for further investigations on the subject in the perspective of understanding the Kangaroo Mother Care as an occupation for the care of the baby, therefore, loaded with meanings for the mother, in which they can experience the occupational engagement during the implementation of the Method, consolidating and expanding the role of occupational therapists in kangaroo neonatal units.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Estratégias de ensino durante a pandemia da Covid-19: uma revisão de periódicos nacionais (2020-2022)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Santos, Cássia Ramos dos; Marigo, Adriana Fernandes Coimbra; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4014738511373573; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8784-3478; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3381808602772942This work is the result of a bibliographical research carried out in the Course Completion Work discipline, of the Pedagogy course, at the Federal University of São Carlos, guided by Prof. Dr. Adriana Fernandes Coimbra Marigo. The main objective of the work was to investigate which were the pedagogical practices developed by teachers during the Covid-19 pandemic and which of these practices contributed to student learning and which ones did not. Although educational institutions have already resumed the face-to-face format, the use of technologies together with new ways of conceiving remote learning, generated the need to reflect on the role of technologies in teaching, seeking to verify which practices could continue to be used as a way to promote digital literacy and multiple learning. The Scientific Electronic Library (SciELO) database was used to search for national articles published between 2020 and 2022, which would provide answers to the following research question: “What strategies were used by teachers to promote learning in educational institutions during covid-19 pandemic? Which strategies did not promote learning? Among the results found, we have the performance of activities in groups as an effective means for learning; support group for students with disabilities; adaptation of the curriculum and the use of digital tools; the correlation between scientific content and the world of students and the collective and democratic construction of knowledge. Among the limitations of the research, it was possible to observe the lack of articles that addressed the practices of teachers in Early Childhood Education and Elementary School, requiring the use of articles that contemplate the practices in different educational institutions. Finally, the research helps to identify the difficulties and strategies used by teachers to carry out teaching during the pandemic.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Proposta de melhorias na sinalização de trânsito de pontos turísticos de Ibiúna-SP(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Yoshizumi, Wiliam Massao; Hirosue, Fernando Hideki; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4091598921285700; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0384315187045676As technology advances, transportation has become more accessible and efficient, turning long and tiresome journeys into more feasible routes for the general population. This has led to a substantial increase in people's movement across different parts of the world and subsequently, a surge in demand for tourist destinations. Among the many municipalities designated as Tourist Resorts in the São Paulo state, Ibiúna stands out, with tourism being a key economic driver. Alongside the attractions themselves, providing visitors with a positive experience necessitates a robust infrastructure encompassing accommodations, security, services, and other amenities. Consequently, the importance of appropriate traffic signage for these tourist spots cannot be overstated. This study aims to evaluate the indicative and tourist-oriented signage in Ibiúna, seeking to contribute to the city's tourism enhancement. Guided by the Brazilian Tourist Signage Guide, a field study was conducted to appraise the quality of traffic signage at the municipality's principal tourist attractions. The evaluation encompassed their adherence to stipulated standards and their effectiveness in guiding tourists towards an enjoyable experience. Despite generally well-structured and informative signage, notable deficiencies were identified in distance indication markers, along with the imperative of devising a maintenance plan for the existing signage. This demonstrates that Ibiúna municipality has recognized the importance of tourist traffic signage, with only a few minor improvements noted that could enhance the quality of the municipality's signage.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Caracterização, produtividade e armazenamento pós-colheita refrigerado para laranjas pigmentadas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Lang, Gabriel Zerbinato; Souza, Ana Júlia Borim de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8621053525853289; Conceição, Patrícia Marluci da; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6623193710607120; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8435580235358483The concentration of anthocyanins in citrus intensifies when cultivation is carried out in environments with lower temperatures or high daily temperature ranges, however, the Brazilian tropical climate does not allow an increase in this compound to occur under normal field conditions. The objective of this work was to identify varieties of pigmented oranges with higher levels of anthocyanins and carotenoids in the juice, after cold storage, that are productive and with fruits with good physical-chemical characteristics. For this work, five varieties of pigmented oranges were selected: Moro IAC 432, Sanguinelli Morocco IAC 73, Sanguinelli Polidari IAC 74, Tarocco IAC 67 and Vermelha Precoce. The vegetative development of plants and productivity (t ha-1) were evaluated in these varieties. For each variety, 96 fruits were harvested, subdivided and evaluated at 0, 30, 60 and 90 days after being stored at 10°C, with a relative humidity of ~90%, in a cold room. The design used was completely randomized (DIC), in a 5 x 4 factorial scheme (5 varieties x 4 storage periods), with three replications, containing 8 fruits of each variety, in each replication. On each storage date, the fruits were removed from the cold room, with five fruits being used for physical-chemical analyzes of the fruits, and the other three fruits being used to quantify anthocyanin and carotenoid levels. The variety Moro IAC 432 (M 432) showed the highest productivity (t ha-1). Even with fruit storage, the height and diameter of the fruits of all varieties remained within the standard accepted by the fresh fruit market and the juice yield exceeded 40%. The only variety that presented a juice ratio within a range considered ideal was the Red Precoce variety. Storage in a cold room did not provide an increase in the carotenoid content in the juice of the varieties, on the other hand it led to an increase in the concentration of anthocyanins, after 60 days of storing the fruits in a cold room, in the varieties M 432, SM 73, SP 74 and T 67. It is concluded from this work that there are varieties of pigmented oranges with productive potential for Brazilian conditions, and their association with high anthocyanin levels is highly dependent on refrigerated storage.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Polímeros ionoméricos e sua aplicação em supercapacitores: potencialidades e limitações(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Sampaio, Artur Ribeiuro; Scuracchio, Carlos Henrique; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0896060959622431The following work addresses the importance of studying ionomeric polymers and supercapacitors. These polymers are materials that contain ions in their structure, providing unique and interesting properties such as high ionic conductivity combined with mechanical and thermal stability. They have been widely used in electrochemical energy applications, including fuel cells, electrocatalysis, and rechargeable batteries, while also playing a significant role in the pursuit of sustainable solutions through their application in clean and sustainable energy technologies. Supercapacitors, on the other hand, are devices responsible for storing a high energy density compared to conventional batteries. They are capable of releasing this high energy density rapidly, making them highly suitable for various applications such as electric vehicles, portable electronics, and energy storage systems. Supercapacitors also exhibit a prolonged lifespan, enduring numerous charge and discharge cycles without significant performance degradation. Delving deeper into the study of these materials and technologies enables advancements in the development of sustainable, efficient, and economically viable energy storage solutions. Consequently, it contributes to the transition towards renewable energy sources and the reduction of carbon emissions. Therefore, exploring the properties and applications of these materials is of paramount importance in driving innovation and addressing current energy and environmental challenges.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Acessibilidade digital em ONGs brasileiras para pessoas com deficiência: análises, perspectivas e desafios para a inclusão tecnológica e social(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Justo, Carmen Silvia Porto Brunialti; Costa, Luzia Sigoli Fernandes; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8110248272001369; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8530-4000; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8932900364131555; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1538-2243Digital information and communication technologies have enabled the expansion of informational and communication resources across various organizations and companies, catering to diverse audiences. Among these resources, digital accessibility for people with disabilities through assistive technology software and devices on various platforms facilities access to websites and platforms. Digital accessibility standards are proposed by W3C Consortium and the recommendations outlined in the Brazilian Inclusion Law (LBI/2015). This law, encompassing chapters 63 to 73, mandates effective access to information and communication in all kinds of social life for this specific audience. Within the framework of this legislation, accessibility must be ensured across different contexts inside lives of people with disabilities, with the aim of dismantling attitudinal, mobility, social, and communication barriers. This research is about Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) for people with disabilities (PwD), which are part of the third sector and provides support to individuals facing social vulnerability. In these spaces, PwD receive social assistance, education, and treatment through therapies designed to address multiple disabilities. These organizations offer preparation for the daily challenges of the workforce and foster social inclusion through technical and vocational education. However, despite the advancements in Technology, Digital Information, and Communication (TDICs) and assistive technologies, there are financial and technological challenges, as well as non-compliance with prevailing legislation regarding digital accessibility for this specific audience within NGOs and their daily lives. The primary objective of this thesis is to analyze digital accessibility for people with disabilities in Brazilian NGOs. This analysis is conducted from the rhizomatic perspective from Deleuze and Guattari (2011) and incorporates cartographic methods according by Petermann (2015), Rosário (2016), and Kastrup (2007). Data collection techniques encompass bibliographic and documentary research, along with an information survey. This approach facilitates the creation of four maps (plateaus) that encapsulate the various aspects. Each plateau, resulting in a continuous exploration of tensions, deterritorializations, and thematic connections relating to our research subject. The results underscore the significance of digital accessibility for these organizations in the context of digital, social, economic, and professional inclusion of PwD served by NGOs. Despite this importance, various barriers persist in relation to accessible digital communication. It is essential for public policies and science and technology initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of digital accessibility in the daily lives of people with disabilities in Brazil, with the ultimate goal of achieving their technological and social inclusion.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Aspectos da Alfabetização Científica em temas relacionados à saúde nos livros didáticos adotados pelas escolas municipais de Araras: limites e potencialidades(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Pagotti, Rochele Cristina Pegoraro; Milaré, Tathiane; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4030661520659155; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6557-1769; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4706390183725971; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3360-2660To better understand the teaching of Natural Sciences in the initial years of Elementary School, it is necessary to know whether and how Scientific Literacy is included in the textbooks proposed for this cycle. Therefore, in this work, we reflect on how textbooks can contribute to enabling students to become scientifically literate. The objects of study of this dissertation are the textbooks of the SESI-SP Education System for the initial years of elementary school, from the Natural Sciences collection. The main objective is to analyze how the activities of the Natural Sciences books of the SESI-SP Education System, adopted by the municipal network of Araras in the year 2022, provide conditions so that Scientific Literacy Indicators can be developed during their implementation in the classroom class through health-related topics. To carry out the analysis, we defined health as the central theme, focusing on knowledge of one's own body and the promotion of individual and collective health. To guide the research, we have as a research problem the following question: how the activities related to the health theme present in the Natural Sciences textbooks of the SESI-SP Education System, adopted by the municipal education network in the city of Araras, starting from the 2022 school year, limit or enhance the Scientific Literacy process? This research has a qualitative character, using the content analysis proposed by Bardin (2011) as a methodological reference for data processing and analysis. We seek, through analysis, to identify whether in the analyzed collection the activities presented enable conditions for literacy indicators to occur during the use of the book in the classroom, promoting Scientific Literacy in students. From the analysis it was possible to verify that the proposed activities present conditions for the possible occurrence of the indicators, with the IAC Articular Idéias being the most present in textbooks and the IAC Create and Act the one that has the least chance of occurring. In general, we identified that books help students achieve Scientific Literacy as a result of the learning process.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Crescimento de trincas em ligas de memória de forma sob vida em fadiga(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Silva, Guilherme Maia Ribeiro; Mazzer, Eric Marchezini; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7273276940567054Shape memory alloys are a class of metallic alloys that arouse interest in both the academic and industrial spheres due to their properties of shape memory effect and superelasticity that arise from the reversible transformation of martensite. This type of alloy was discovered in the early 1930s when reversible martensitic transformations and pseudoelastic behavior were first observed. As studies in LMF advanced and more practical applications were developed a commercial opportunity was created for this class of metal alloys and in 1960, in a laboratory in the United States a NiTi alloy was developed under the trade name NiTiNOL, in reference to the laboratory where it was developed, Naval Ordnance Laboratory. Over time, LMFs have gained ground in different commercial applications in the automotive, aerospace and robotics industries. They have also been introduced in the field of medicine and dentistry for their good biocompatibility and biofunctional properties. Like conventional metal alloy components, LMFs are also subject to fatigue fractures. This work aims to relate some concepts of fracture mechanics with the study of how the crack propagation rate is affected by some factors such as the temperature at which the alloy is subjected as well as its characteristic temperatures for phase transition, grain size, anisotropy and texture. The understanding of how the propagation rate is influenced by these factors is of paramount importance so that it is possible to improve designs and components by increasing fatigue life, efficiency and the possibility of designing new applicationslistelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Ensino não presencial emergencial: uma visão de professores do ensino superior(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Evangelista, Luiz Felipe Ossick; Carnio, Michel Pisa; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0198207700485715; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0044117346704579The COVID-19 pandemic prevented the implementation of in-person classes across the country. Through the Emergency Remote Teaching Program (ENPE), UFSCar was able to maintain its academic functions. However, due to the remote learning modality, ENPE had a significant impact on the execution of classes. The aim of this study is to understand the perspectives of professors from the Biological Sciences course at UFSCar – São Carlos campus – regarding the processes of implementing remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, with semi-structured interviews conducted with faculty members who taught practical classes during the ENPE semesters. The overall results are quite comprehensive. Despite the lack of a governmental plan to support educational institutions, the university did what it could to assist educators in their work. Although there was a general plan developed by the university, it was not able to address all the specificities of the process. Therefore, each faculty member decided, based on their own experiences, how to adapt their classes according to their teaching methodology. By analyzing the professors' statements, it was possible to infer the choices and challenges they faced in adapting practical classes.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Modelagem matemática para o crescimento de tumores sob interferência da quimioterapia e imunoterapia(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Araújo, Gabriel Xavier de; Silveira, Graciele Paraguaia; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6251988404047002; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4955561535017967On the world stage, cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world, accounting for 9.6 million deaths in 2018. Globally, one in six deaths is related to the disease. In Brazil, there are an estimated 704,000 new cases of cancer for the three-year period 2023-2025. This course completion work aimed to investigate tumor growth and methods of treatment, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. The mathematical modeling that describes tumor growth was performed using systems of ordinary differential equations, based on the interspecies competition model, with adaptations for tumor and normal cell populations. An analytical study was done to understand the stability and equilibrium points of the systems. After this step, the models were solved numerically via Euler’s Method implemented by Python language. The results showed the importance of starting treatments against cancer early, due to its explosive capacity for growth. The combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy can eliminate the tumor more quickly. Finally, we emphasize the need for screening tests by the general population and more research on new treatments or even new perspectives so that you can fight this pathology more effectively.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Nanocompósitos na forma de fibras poliméricas à base de policaprolactona com hidrotalcita imobilizada para a adsorção de ácido clorogênico(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Nascimento, Andressa Cristina de Almeida; Paris, Elaine Cristina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8475640212486290; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4234109247015358Water, vital for humanity, is widely used in coffee processing, resulting in effluents with a high organic load, including polyphenols that can be harmful to the environment. Adsorption is a simple and effective strategy to eliminate contaminants without generating unwanted byproducts. Developing adsorbent materials is crucial and incorporating them into polymeric matrices facilitates recovery and reuse. In this way, this work proposed obtaining composite membranes based on polycaprolactone (PCL) polymer to immobilize modified hydrotalcite, an adsorbent material, aiming to remove chlorogenic acid polyphenol through adsorption. The commercial hydrotalcite was thermally treated and modified with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) to increase the affinity with the contaminant. The parameters of spinning pure polymer mats were experimentally optimized. Composite membranes were obtained by incorporating different concentrations of modified hydrotalcite into the polymeric solution for subsequent solution blow spinning. Hydrotalcite with surface modification and adsorption efficiency reaching 96% under established parameters was obtained; the higher the modifier percentage, the higher the percentage of adsorption, and the best removal results were presented by materials that underwent thermal treatment. Modification with SDS resulted in hydrophobic materials and with CTAB hydrophilic in character, which did not interfere with adsorption, leading to similar results. Increasing the polymer concentration in the solution resulted in more homogeneity but also increased the diameter of the fibers. Blends of PCL/polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and PCL/polystyrene (PS) were obtained with diameters ranging from 812 nm to 1542 nm and 417 nm to 659 nm, respectively. The mats of blends with a higher percentage of PCL demonstrated greater tensile strength when compared to other blends. The composite membrane containing 60% adsorbent material showed good efficiency in removing chlorogenic acid, achieving a removal rate of 55% of the contaminant under the tested conditions. Therefore, composite membranes demonstrated the ability to act as adsorbents for pollutants like chlorogenic acid, establishing the potential for environmental remediation applications.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Narrativas de professoras formadoras que ensinam matemática em cursos de pedagogia: formação, identidade e tensões no campo da docência e da pesquisa(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Santos, Cicero Augusto; Ciríaco, Klinger Teodoro; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2947929641568853; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1694-851X; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7906555498582315; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2849-3981This research pertains to a master's thesis affiliated with the Postgraduate Program in Education (PPGE), within the research line "Science and Mathematics Education" at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), and it is part of the "MANCALA – Group of Studies and Research in Mathematics Education, Culture, and Teacher Education" (CNPq). The ongoing investigation had the overarching objective of comprehending the constitution of the professional identity of female teachers who teach Mathematics in Pedagogy undergraduate programs, along with their tensions within the fields of teaching and research. To achieve this, after identifying collaborating educators who are graduates of stricto sensu postgraduate programs in the areas of "Education" and "Teaching" in São Paulo state, the narrative interview method proposed by German sociologist Fritz Schütze was adopted as the data production instrument. Thus, in pursuit of the stated objective, narratives of three educators, who are both pedagogues and doctors and have developed their professional identities over the course of their journeys as mathematics educators, were validated. In terms of results, utilizing the six steps proposed by Schütze, the analyses reveal the following outcomes: 1) Impact of Positive Training Experiences on Professional Identity: the trainers demonstrated that positive experiences with teachers in Basic Education were crucial for Mathematics to become their preferred subject. This highlights the influence of interpersonal relationships in the formation of the professional identity of pedagogues and shows the importance of support and encouragement at the beginning of their trajectories; 2) Challenges and Tensions of Insertion in the Field of Mathematics Education: the trainers' narratives revealed challenges and tensions faced when entering the field of Mathematics Education, such as questions about their training and capacity. This result highlights the importance of discussing and overcoming these barriers, from the initial training of teachers; 3) Reflections of Teaching Practice and Career Development for the Constitution of Identity: the challenging experiences faced by teachers in the field of Mathematics Education were fundamental to strengthen their professional identities. This suggests that overcoming obstacles can result in a more solid and authentic identity as mathematics educators, which has implications for the training and professional development of other educators. In summary, the work with narratives contributed, in the specific case of this study, so that these professionals could tell their life stories under the aegis of being a teacher in Higher Education.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Aplicativos móveis para monitorar o tempo de sono: uma busca sistemática nas lojas online no Brasil(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Lemes, Lorena Caligiuri; Triches, Maria Isabel; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9585150764624635; Sato, Tatiana de Oliveira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3456494998257229; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6413075795354227Decreased sleep time is detrimental to physical and mental health, negatively impacting daily functioning and quality of life. Mobile health apps (mHealth) can be helpful in improving sleep quality. Objective: To conduct a systematic search of mHealth apps to monitor sleep time in Brazilian online stores and evaluate the selected apps in terms of engagement, functionality, aesthetics and information quality. Methods: A systematic search was carried out to identify mobile applications related to sleep monitoring available on the Google Play Store and the App Store in Brazil and developed or updated between 2020 and 2022. The keywords used were “sleep”, “sleep monitor ”, “sleep technology”, “sleep application”, “hours of sleep” and “sleep quality”. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol was adapted to app store searches. The Mobile App Rating Scale (MARS) was used to assess the quality of apps. The characteristics and information of these applications were presented. Data were analyzed descriptively. Results: Of the 2264 relevant mHealth apps identified, 11 were eligible for inclusion. One application only offered recording of hours of sleep, three offered sleep recording and educational content, three monitored sleep time with audiovisual resources, two offered sleep recording with a focus on snoring monitoring and two offered sleep monitoring with individual customizations of content. Apps scored fair on the MARS scale, averaging 3.5 points (SD: 0.8) on a scale of 1 to 5. Most apps scored low due to poor evidence-based information, poor aesthetics and engagement . Conclusion: Although the use of mHealth technologies to monitor sleep time has considerable research potential, it is a relatively new and underexplored topic. Thus, collaboration between researchers, clinical professionals, patients and application developers is necessary for the development of new mHealth applications based on evidence and focused on Brazilian users.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Educação e Ideologia: uma análise crítica dos fundamentos teóricos e metodológicos da extensão rural no Brasil (1953-1974)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Wolfart, Cíntia; Santos, Maria Cristina dos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1095065753077001; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3130-9433; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2759420724021960; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9112-3158The theme of this thesis is the history of the Rural Extension agency in Brazil. The aim is to analyze the theoretical and methodological foundations that guided the training activities of rural extension workers between 1953 and 1974. In 1953, extension was organized and supervised by the Agricultural Technical Offices (ETA) and by the Credit Associations and Rural Assistance (ACAR's), and in 1974, it was the milestone of creation of the Brazilian Company of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (EMBRATER), which was responsible for absorbing the entire structure of the Brazilian Association of Credit and Rural Assistance (ABCAR) from 1956 Presenting a philanthropic rhetoric, the Rural Extension sought to disseminate agricultural teachings called “useful” and practical to the population, with a view to boosting production and “improving the quality of life in the countryside”. Through the premise of forming an ideal type of rural producer, suited to the precepts of modernization, for that, it was necessary to overcome the barrier that Brazilian agriculture imposed for modernization and industrial advancement. Several institutions, such as: Alliance for Progress, American International Association, USAID, Rockefeller Foundation, World Bank, Ford Foundation, among other civil society associations, made use of a bourgeois modernizing project with conservative characteristics, which had a pedagogical practice that involved several areas of knowledge: psychology, sociology, philosophy, administration and economics. This knowledge was mobilized with a view to training rural extensionists, organic intellectuals of capital, for the purpose of spreading capitalism in the countryside. Innovative diffusionism, originating from the standards and values of imperialist nations, was another work methodology developed by Rural Extension in the period studied and which resulted in transformations in the way of life in rural areas and which were defining for the permanence or exclusion of workers in the field. The central hypothesis of this thesis is that Rural Extension in Brazil has appropriated several theoretical conceptions and methodological tools in the extension training process to guarantee the consolidation of capitalism in the countryside. The race for the “training” of organic intellectuals, via Extensionist Training Centers, in the context of the Cold War, had as its objective the production of active consensus on the periphery and voluntary submission to the project of conservative modernization. To ensure increased production efficiency in the field, Rural Extension appropriated technical and business training methodologies, supported by Allen's Four Steps and the TWI system. One of the main objectives was to form a leadership, supervision and instruction board, capable of training and influencing rural producers in an environment of tranquility and security for the adaptation of the workforce to the demands of capital.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Embalagens multicamadas: fundamentos e aplicações(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Miler, Matheus; Scuracchio, Carlos Henrique; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0896060959622431Multilayer packaging consists of structures composed of multiple layers of materials, which can be similar or different, such as aluminum, plastic, and paper. These packages play a crucial role in protecting products and food, ensuring their integrity and extending their shelf life. However, the use of multilayer packaging also presents significant challenges, especially from an environmental perspective, due to post-consumer disposal issues. An example of the advantage of multilayer packaging is its ability to provide effective barriers against external factors such as moisture, light, and oxygen, which can degrade packaged products. This contributes to preserving product quality and reducing waste. However, disadvantages include the complexity of their composition, making recycling and proper disposal more difficult, thereby increasing environmental impacts. The environmental concerns associated with multilayer packaging have raised growing concerns, leading to the search formsustainable solutions. Brazil, a country recognized for its sustainable practices, is addressing this challenge as an improvement opportunity, given the significant amount of multilayer packaging consumed annually in the country. Measures such as promoting recycling and seeking more environmentally friendly packaging alternatives are among the ongoing initiatives. In summary, multilayer packaging plays an important role in product protection but also presents environmental challenges. The literature review emphasizes the need to address these challenges for sustainability in packaging production and consumptionlistelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Estudo de desempenho dos materiais mais promissores aplicados em ânodos de baterias elétricas veiculares considerando seu potencial de produção no Brasil(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Fernandes, Bruna da Silva; Mazzer, Eric Marchezini; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7273276940567054The global energy context has undergone significant transformations in recent decades, driven by the search for cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. In this sense, electric vehicles have emerged as a promising alternative to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and mitigate the environmental impacts caused by greenhouse gas emissions. However, the efficiency and capacity of the batteries used in these vehicles are critical aspects for the viability of this technology. Brazil, with its wealth in natural resources, has considerable potential for the production of materials used in electric batteries. Among these materials, graphite, silicon and niobium stand out due to their unique properties and characteristics. Graphite is widely used as an anode in lithium-ion batteries, while silicon and niobium are studied as alternatives to increase energy storage capacity and improve battery performance. In short, the work presented a comprehensive analysis on the production of electric batteries with graphite, silicon and niobium anodes in Brazil, considering the context of mineral reserves and the political scenario of the country, as well as the performance of these materials in batteries. The results indicate a promising potential for the advancement of the electric mobility industry in Brazil, provided that adequate policies and investments in research and development are implemented.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise da incorporação de soluções construtivas de baixo impacto ambiental: estudo de caso do protótipo “Minha Casa Mais Sustentável”(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Santos, Júlia de Freitas Bidim Pereira dos; Silva, Sandra Regina Mota; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9973870842834947; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5147-6154; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4493683859261781There is a growing concern for more rational use of raw materials, natural resources, and renewable energies to minimize the environmental impacts caused by human activity over time. In this scenario, the construction sector is responsible for many of these impacts during construction, use, and maintenance, encompassing its entire lifecycle. Thus, within the context of the construction industry, the incorporation of low environmental impact construction solutions in the processes of design, execution, and use of buildings is of paramount importance to mitigate the effects of overexploitation of natural resources and to assist future generations in meeting their needs and demands. The main objective of this study was to conduct, firstly, a literature review on more sustainable construction solutions and technologies applicable to Social Interest Housing (SIH). Next, the analysis of the “Minha Casa Mais Sustentável” Prototype project was carried out, a multidisciplinary proposal aiming to incorporate more sustainable solutions into a multifamily SIH. Lastly, a comparative analysis was conducted in two aspects, correlating the compilations from the literature review with the guiding directives derived from the contributions of the research team involved in the “Minha Casa Mais Sustentável” Prototype, and subsequently, in relation to the incorporation of more sustainable construction solutions into the architectural design of the Prototype. The analysis observed that, overall, the construction solutions proposed by the Prototype were in line with the references obtained in the literature review, and it was possible to identify that most of the solutions studied by the researchers were incorporated into the architectural design of the prototype. However, some sustainable construction practices that were identified in this literature review could have been considered but were not. Finally, the importance of researching more sustainable construction solutions applied to multifamily SIH is emphasized, aiming to enhance better housing conditions for low-income populations while simultaneously seeking to reduce the environmental impacts caused by the construction sector.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Elaboração de um plano para analisar alunos de ações afirmativas na Engenharia de Materiais através de experimento fatorial 2k(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-08-25) Oliveira, Cristiane Souza de; Marini, Juliano; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4533610255047654The present study discusses the challenges faced by quota students from the perspective of the deficiencies in the effectiveness of Law N° 12,711/2012. Considering the intricate structure of the Brazilian educational system and the barriers hindering the advancement of underrepresented groups, this research aims to understand the aspects that influence these students' performance. Focusing on the challenges imposed by this Law, consequences such as high dropout rates, failure, and extended time to complete courses are observed. It is crucial to understand how these challenges relate to the main factors that can contribute, such as institutional inadequacy, lack of integration with the academic environment, and content gaps. Furthermore, a research proposal was developed for the Materials Engineering course at UFSCar to analyze how these impacts affect the beneficiaries of the quotas through the 2k Factorial Experiment. The importance of innovative strategies and a system that promotes equality, modernization, and acceptance of affirmative actions is emphasized. Interventions are proposed, such as partnerships, workshops, mentoring programs, and group formations, aiming to enhance inclusion and equity. The study underscores the need for effective actions to strengthen diversity and equality in higher education, reflecting on the complex structures of the Brazilian educational system and the barriers blocking the progress of underrepresented groups. In this way, the work provides a comprehensive analysis of the current scenario, delivering a solid foundation for ongoing analyses and evaluations. Moreover, it outlines a promising strategy to consolidate diversity and equality in the Materials Engineering course at UFSCar.
