The composite structures of timber and concrete appeared at the end of the First and Second World Wars, with the intention of replacing steel. This system seeks to use the advantages of both materials, wood presents good performance in tension and concrete in compression, however, due to the different properties of the materials it is difficult to predict the exact working mechanism of the connection system, thus how to measure the calculation of the slip modulus. In this scenario, the present research aimed to evaluate the factors that influence the service slip modulus (Kser) in a T-section beam composed of a concrete table and a wooden core, joined by metallic connectors. This analysis was carried out using a parametric approach via the finite element method, so that in the end it was possible to obtain a multiple variable regression equation to estimate the Kser with coefficient of determination R2 = 79.07 %, which highlights the good precision obtained in estimating this important structural variable.

Dieta e ecologia funcional da ema (Rhea americana) no Pantanal e Cerrado
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-05-09) Jacques, Cauê Lazareth Balassa; Christianini, Alexander Vicente; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2295622727813765; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1538-791X; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3567956465217259; https://orcid.org/0009-0009-4646-2466
The rhea (Rhea americana) is the largest bird in South America, inhabiting, for example, the floodplains of the Pantanal and the savannas known as Cerrado in Brazil. In that study, the emu diet was evaluated in the Pantanal, revealing a variety of foods, with emphasis on leaves, fruits/seeds, invertebrates and small vertebrates. A diversity of plants consumed included legumes and species with fleshy fruits, such as Psidium sp. (Myrtaceae) and large palm seeds. This food variada suggests a potential role in seed dispersal, with the presence of apparently intact in feces. In a second stage carried out with emus in captivity revealed that they have a long gastrointestinal passage time, allowing the dispersal of seeds over long distances. The seeds ingested by R. americana presented variable results in germination, with some species benefited and others did not. The population decline of rheas could affect the regeneration of plants, especially when thinking about the quantitative component of the dispersal of seeds or dispersal distances. Understanding the ecological relationship between R. americana and native plants seems important for the dynamics and conservation of ecosystems where the species occurs.

There is a cellphone trade that happens mainly from Ciudad del Este (PY). It will be presented based on two specific journeys: “artisan” and “systematic”. This research is part of a movement that aims to think about different faces of “popular globalization” indicating actors, strategies and accumulation. Analysing the characteristics of these journeys, it is presented that sacolagem is a fundamental part of contemporary globalization, since it creates tension, legitimations, normative regimes and circulation of money displaced from hegemonic elites such as established retail stores. To capture these displacements, we operate multi-situated ethnography, inserting possible journeys, in other words, in episodic sequences of displacement captured in the field, and complemented with videos and documentaries representing the observed reality. Moreover, secondary data such as those from the Internal Brazilian Revenue Service and the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) were collected and processed.

The Brazilian graphics sector is strategic and important, enabling the dissemination of information and improvement in Brazilian education. However, there is a lack of scientific research regarding the methodology and philosophy of Lean Manufacturing. The objective of this work is to evaluate the relationship between the thinking of maximizing the use of resources, which contrasts with the philosophy of lean thinking. From a conceptual and theoretical point of view, a systematic bibliographic review was carried out that presented the difficulties and what approaches there are in the literature regarding the implementation of pull production in environments with a high variety of products and high seasonality of demand. From an empirical point of view, an in-depth case study was carried out in a company in the Brazilian graphics sector to understand the reasons and difficulties that decision-making leaders have in changing a mentality focused on efficiency to a mentality focused on reduction. of waste, being the main problematization in which this dissertation seeks to discover. To answer the questions elaborated in the empirical part, the research presented two propositions on how companies should seek to reevaluate their strategies and efficiency indicators and the implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices offer a solid structure to face the organizational challenges inherent to changing the mentality of efficiency in organizations.
