This stydy aims to study the educational practice of autonomous environmental monitors at Carlos Botelho State Park and aims to investigate to what extent this practice approaches or distances itself from the foundations of Critical-Transformative Environmental Education via the Generating Theme. Using a qualitative approach, it used bibliographic research to present the aforementioned Conservation Unit, the National System of Conservation Units, the preservation of the Atlantic Forest, the constitution of the Park based on documents, resolutions, laws and decrees that regulate its use and conservation, and the work of autonomous environmental monitoring. With this, a documentary analysis was carried out and a questionnaire was used to collect data about the educational practice of 14 autonomous environmental monitors, which were analyzed based on Discursive Textual Analysis. The following analytical categories were selected a priori: dialogicity, problematization and awareness, which summarize the foundations of Critical-Transformative Environmental Education via Generating Theme (EACT-TG), guided by Freirean Pedagogy and the Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School, which, in turn, characterizes an authentic environmental educational praxis. To support the interpretation of the data based on the foundations of EACT-TG, three conceptions of Environmental Education were defined: conservative, critical and critical-transformative, based on Torres (2010), whose analysis revealed the preponderance of the conservative conception of EE (75%), followed by critical (19%) and critical-transformative (3%), among the environmental monitors of the Park. Finally, in order to analyze approximations or distancing of the educational praxis of the monitors in relation to the authentic praxis of EACT-TG, the categories inauthentic praxis, transition and authentic praxis emerged, revealing that 11 approach the environmental educational dimension of inauthentic praxis and 3 are in the process of transition to authentic praxis, but no environmental monitor effectively carries out an authentic environmental educational praxis in the Carlos Botelho State Park - which indicates the development of training processes for environmental educators from a critical-transformative perspective via a generating theme.

The conception of liberating reading is present in many documents regarding educational public policies from Brazil. However, the current scenario has been presenting results that are still insufficient when it comes to the development of critical reading competences in students from the final years of Middle School. In this sense, this qualitative exploratory-descriptive research aims to answer the following question: To what extent does a didactic sequence focused on the reading of African and African-Brazilian short stories, under a decolonial perspective, favor and mobilize the development of reading, comprehension and critical competences of 9th grade students from a public school in São Paulo state? In order to carry out this research, the first step is the elaboration and application of a didactic sequence, which is the Technical-Technological Product created by this study, focused on the reaching of reading, in a decolonial perspective, through three short stories: “O sagrado pão dos filhos” (The sacred bread of sons), an African-Brazilian short story by Conceição Evaristo, “As mãos dos pretos” (“The hands of the Blacks”), a Mozambican short story by Bernardo Honwana, and “O Pequeno Príncipe Preto” (The Black Little Prince), an African-Brazilian short story by Rodrigo França. The theoretical framework chosen to discuss this proposal focuses on the conceptions of reading strategies teaching and literary literacy, essentially proposed by Solé (1998), Jouve (2002) and Cosson (2009). To create and apply the didactic sequence, the model by Dolz, Noverraz e Schneuwly (2004) was used; and, finally, to discuss the decolonial perspective, the ideas by Fanon (2008) and Queiroz (2020) are adopted. Data collection was carried out using online surveys, reading journals and observations from the teacher/researcher, such as records of the DS steps, analyzing them according to the proposal by Bardin (2006). The development of the research points to a promising result regarding the significant improvement in the critical reading of the students involved in this work, thus showing the need to deepen this field of investigation.

Bit-True simulation for word length optimization of digital signal processing blocks
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-08-14) Sampaio, Hugo Almeida; Matias, Paulo; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3792055796261017; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6504-5141; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1499403606313739
During the development of DSP systems to be implemented in ASICs or FPGAs, the conversion of floating-point signals and operands to fixed-point is an important and time consuming task, as fixed-point has faster performance and lower power consumption. However, the floating-point to fixed-point conversion problem is NP-hard and has no ideal solution. This work explores a hardware simulation technique, also known as Bit true, based on masking the fractional bits of each operator and signal of interest directly in its FPGA implementation. This technique had only been proposed in the literature but never implemented before this work. It allows flexibility in defining optimization criteria and avoids the rework required by other techniques of implementing the system f irst in software, and only then transforming it into an equivalent hardware architecture. The DSP system chosen as a case study is a wireless BPSK receiver, designed for IoT applications. The receiver blocks were optimized in isolation using the technique, resulting in reduced area and power consumption, and increased maximum operating frequency. The artifacts produced in this work are expected to aid future research in IoT, reducing the time and effort to obtain a refined system systhesis.
