    This study aimed to compare the corrosion resistance between titanium alloys grade 23 and Ti-6Al-4V ELI (extra low interstitial), which has strict control over interstitial elements, and grade 29, which has the same composition as the previous alloy but with an addition of 0.11% (by weight) of ruthenium in its composition. For this purpose, samples of both materials were subjected to electrochemical tests of open circuit potential and cyclic potentiodynamic polarization, in order to evaluate electrochemical parameters that clarify the corrosion resistance of these alloys. Immersion tests were also conducted to determine the corrosion rates of the alloys in different non-oxidizing solutions. The results of the electrochemical tests did not reveal significant differences between titanium alloys grade 23 and grade 29.     This work explores the application of linear algebra in image processing. We use matrix operations such as addition, multiplication, and convolution to improve image quality.     The milk run system is inserted in the context of Lean Logistics, the logistics dimension of the Lean Production System. The combined pick-up between different suppliers characterizes it, optimizing the material’s transportation and storage costs. Milk-run can be treated as a vehicle routing problem (VRP), one of the most explored problems of Operations Research in supply chain management. In this study, we address the Milk Run Routing Problem with Progress Lane (MRPPL), which consists of a VRP variant that models a milk-run system in the context of Lean Logistics. This problem encompasses the trade-offs between the lean performance criteria, such as pick-up frequency, vehicle efficiency, and inventory level at the manufacturer’s plant. We present a literature review on the basic concepts of Lean Manufacturing applied to the logistics of the milk run pickup systems and the state-of-the-art VRP and its application to the automobile industry. Additionally, we develop a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to identify the characteristics and peculiarities of the VRP application to lean logistics. To model and solve the addressed problem, we propose two mixed integer linear programming formulations, one based on a previous study from the literature, and the other originally proposed in this study, considering different types of decision variables and constraints. The results of computational experiments show that applying the second formulation considerably reduces the computation time to solve realistic instances. On average, the total computation time to solve an instance using the second formulation is 8% of the total time for the first formulation. We provide managerial insights considering several scenarios and different variations of parameters in the real problem presented in the case study. An optimal solution could be found for the real problem, indicating a low number of vehicles required and an increase in their efficiency.

    This study investigated the invasion of the exotic species algaroba (Prosopis juliflora) into an Indigenous Territory, focusing on the impacts of this invasion in terms of changes in land use and occupation, as well as the resulting ecological and socioeconomic implications. The research began with a detailed characterization of the study area, including an analysis of its environmental and socioeconomic conditions, which allowed us to understand the context in which the invasion occurred. Data were then collected through remote sensing and geoprocessing, techniques that proved crucial for identifying the areas most affected by the algaroba's expansion. The study continued with supervised image classification, allowing us to accurately map the algaroba's distribution in the study areas. Based on this data, a comparative analysis of changes in land use and occupation from 1985 to 2022 was conducted, highlighting the replacement of native ecosystems by areas dominated by algaroba. These results highlight the magnitude of the invasion and its effects on local biodiversity, including the reduction of native species and the alteration of ecosystem functions. Furthermore, the study explored the socioeconomic consequences of the invasion, analyzing how the presence of mesquite affects agricultural and livestock activities, and the livelihoods of local communities. The research also discussed the challenges faced in implementing management and control strategies for this invasive species, suggesting the need for more effective public policies and conservation actions. The conclusion is that the mesquite invasion poses a significant threat to the conservation of natural ecosystems and the sustainability of economic activities in the affected regions, requiring immediate interventions to mitigate its impacts.
