Percepção dos estudantes de medicina sobre cuidados paliativos pediátricos: uma revisão integrativa

Pediatric palliative care is essential to improve the quality of life of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. However, palliative care training in medical schools is often insufficient, resulting in a gap in knowledge and preparation of future physicians. This study aims to synthesize the evidence on medical students’ perceptions of pediatric palliative care and the factors that influence this perception during medical training. Method: An integrative literature review was conducted, covering quantitative, qualitative, and mixed studies published in the last ten years. The search was performed in the PubMed and Scielo databases, using descriptors related to medical students and pediatric palliative care. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were established to ensure the relevance of the selected studies. Results: The analysis revealed that most medical students have a limited understanding of pediatric palliative care, with attitudes that vary throughout their training. Practical experience and contact with terminally ill patients are essential to shape students’ perceptions. Furthermore, the lack of a structured curriculum and emotional support during training contributes to uncertainty and lack of preparation among students. Discussion: The findings indicate an urgent need to integrate more pediatric palliative care education into medical curricula. Implementing educational programs that include practical experiences and emotional support can significantly improve students’ confidence and competence in dealing with end-of-life situations. Conclusion: Pediatric palliative care training should be improved to better prepare future physicians for the emotional and clinical challenges associated with caring for children with serious illnesses. Creating more robust curricula that address emotional and ethical aspects is crucial for a more complete and humanized medical education.

Effective communication is an essential skill in the practice of medical professionals, relating directly to the doctor-patient relationship that will be established and influencing personal perspectives and decision-making. In this context, communicating bad news is something that is part of everyday medical life and must be transmitted in the best possible way, both for the well-being of the patient and the medical professional. This course conclusion work seeks to narrate the experience of a medical student throughout the six years of graduation amidst the theme of communicating bad news, and to describe in a reflective way, how the nuances of this topic accompanied her throughout her career. time. It is possible to see that from the initial contact with the topic, in the first year of graduation, it was present in different professional and personal contexts and little by little it was integrated into the clinical practice of the professional in training.

The aim of this study is to analyse Octavia E. Butler's Kindred: Blood Ties, a historical novel set in the field of science fiction literature. The proposed analysis is based on psychoanalysis, taking into account its understanding of a method of investigation and construction of knowledge that is based on interpretation using psychoanalytic processes and concepts. The studies and reflections proposed here include the study of literature and psychoanalysis and their dialogue, especially the following points: guilt in the malaise of culture, the civilisational pact, based on Freudian texts: The Malaise of Civilisation and Psychology of the Masses and Analysis of the Self. We will also use Frantz Omar Fanon, who dialogues with psychoanalysis and the relationship between violence as a means of subjectification in the face of colonial dehumanisation.

This dissertation aims to investigate, in a set of works by Henri Bergson (1859-1941), the influences of art on his theories about duration and language, seeking as a solution the use of writing techniques or styles that overcome the crystallisation of meanings and conceptualisms of traditional philosophical writing. By analysing authors such as Clarice Lispector and Lygia Fagundes Telles, we will seek to understand how stream of consciousness can be an effective alternative for the transparency of content similar to that proposed by this philosopher, bringing the reader closer to understanding duration and enriching their daily experience.

Reflective narrative about contact with the infectious disease specialty during the Medical School at the Federal University of São Carlos and its intersection with different medical specialties as well as its importance in different areas of professional and personal life. Retrospective of experiences over six years of training and how infectious disease was present in each of them, including our basic training, our support during a pandemic and our basis for other medical specialties.
