Item type:Item, Investigação de precocidade por meio do Inventário Portage Operacionalizado em uma criança na creche(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-17) ;Oliveira, Maria Isabela de ;Rangni, Rosemeire de Araújo ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6399149504309769 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8752-9745https://lattes.cnpq.br/6754671018070505Early identification and pedagogical support for students with precocious characteristics in the various areas of ability are recommended by specialized literature, however, this task comes up against a lack of instrumentation for this purpose. With this in mind, the general aim of this research was to investigate indicators of precocity in a child of nursery school age, using the Inventário Portage Operacionalizado (IPO) and, specifically, to check whether the signs of precocity in a child of nursery school age, previously assessed, were still present. The methodological design used was exploratory-descriptive and longitudinal research. A three-year-old child took part in the study with her mother and teacher as sources of information. The results obtained were: i) Motor development showed approximate scores for her age group (14 points out of 15) and more than 80% beyond her age; ii) in Language, in her age group (14 points out of 15) and more than 80% beyond her age; ii) in Language, the child scored beyond her age group (12 points out of 15); iii) in Self-care, she achieved the expected score for her age group (13 out of 14 points); iv) in Socialization, the child obtained 9 expected points out of 11 and more than 50% expected beyond her age; and v) in Cognition, the child scored 20 out of 24 points expected for his age group and 67% above. The conclusion is that, at the time research, the child aged three years and five months showed characteristics superior to her age group, as observed through the IPO, and the instrument proved to be effective in signaling early potential in nursery children.Item type:Item, Seleção de conteúdos no curso de iniciação musical para crianças do programa Guri(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-17) ;Bergantin, Eglem das Neves ;Galizia, Fernando Stanzione ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4007795540173093https://lattes.cnpq.br/4697488433273341This study was based on the question “What, why and for what purpose do teachers of the Guri’s Musical Initiation for Children (GMIC) course teach what they teach?” Based on this question, the general objective of this research was to investigate, from the teachers’ perspective, the content selection process in the GMIC course. As specific goals, we aim to: identify which contents are worked on by teachers; investigate why they select these contents and why they consider them valid musical knowledge for GMIC; and verify, in their opinion, what is the purpose of the music teaching they carry out. As reference authors, we based ourselves on Gimeno Sacristán (2013) in the area of curriculum, Zabala (1988) on the typology of content, Contreras (2002) and his conception of professional autonomy of the teacher, Libâneo (2013) and the criteria for content selection, Chervel (1990) and Goodson (1995) in the field of the history of subjects, Fonterrada (2008) on the history of music education in Brazil, and Keith Swanwick (1979) and his C(L)A(S)P model. As a data collection method, we used the semi-structured interview, a method in which six teachers of the GMIC course, from different locations in the State of São Paulo, were interviewed. The analyses demonstrated that there is a strong influence of the conservatory model in the GMIC course. However, the characteristics of the conservatory model coexist with the approaches of active methods in music education, pointing to a transition phase in the conception of music teaching for children. We found in the data that the basic musical parameters are hegemonic content and inherited in music teaching for children; also, we notice the imbalance between musical activities in the curriculum (mainly, the low presence of composition), the loss of teacher’s autonomy due to structural issues of Guri, and the fragility of the professional area of music teaching.Item type:Item, Caracterização química e potencial energético da biomassa derivada da casca de coco verde(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-17) ;Martins, Luís Henrique Pereira ;Gomes, Janaina Fernandes ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6718634914051168 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9542-8944https://lattes.cnpq.br/5166997488299326Since the end of the 20th century, growing concerns about rising greenhouse gas emissions and the resulting global warming have driven the search for renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind and biomass, the latter mainly involving the burning of organic matter from wood waste. In this context, biomass derived from coconut husk bagasse, although less explored compared to other sources, such as sugarcane bagasse, eucalyptus firewood and agricultural waste, has emerged as an alternative for the production of renewable energy. In addition to its energy potential, the use of coconut husk bagasse can contribute to promoting environmental sustainability, particularly in urban areas where excessive disposal of coconut waste becomes a problem. Locations such as kiosks and coconut processing facilities are often responsible for high volumes of waste that could be used to reduce the accumulation of garbage and, at the same time, provide a source of renewable energy. Investigating green coconut bagasse is essential to understanding its chemical composition and its potential as a biomass. Thus, the objective of this work is to study the chemical composition of green coconut bagasse based on the procedures of specific standards of ABNT NBR. This analysis allows the evaluation of the presence of water (moisture), cellulose and lignin, in addition to potentially significant levels of carbon and nitrogen, essential elements for determining the energy potential of the material. Based on these results, the possibilities of using green coconut bagasse as a sustainable source of energy in industrial and/or commercial applications will be explored, aiming to advance discussions on the diversification of the Brazilian energy matrix and possible strategies for mitigating the environmental impacts associated with conventional energy sources.Item type:Item, Modelo de predição de impactos ambientais de produtos baseado na avaliação do ciclo de vida integrada à inteligência artificial(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-22) ;Salla, João ;Almeida, Tiago Agostinho de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5368680512020633 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6943-8033Silva, Diogo Aparecido LopesIt is estimated that 78% of American consumers and 70% of Brazilian consumers already value more sustainable lifestyles, primarily due to personal well-being and concerns for future generations. However, climate risks are already a reality and complex to address, requiring swift and effective responses. This underscores the importance of integrating techniques such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Machine Learning (ML) to support environmental decision-making in a rapid and reliable manner. LCA, regulated by ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, requires significant time and large volumes of data for its execution. On the other hand, ML, with its data processing capabilities and predictive modeling, offers a solution to significantly reduce this analysis time. This study aimed to propose and test decision-support models using ML trained with LCA datasets to predict environmental impacts. This exploratory research is structured into two main articles. The first reviews the literature on computational techniques and modeling languages for environmental impact prediction, with the objective of assessing the current state of LCA+ML integration. The second article applies ML models in three different tests, utilizing LCA datasets and comparing prediction results. The primary challenge of this research was managing the heterogeneity of LCA data, as different databases use varied formats, such as ecoSpold and ILCD, impacting interoperability. Open-source software, such as OpenLCA, was employed to ensure compatibility and portability across the 1,219 datasets evaluated using ML. The key outcome was a refined decision-support model that enables the entire training pipeline, from sample generation through data export from LCA databases to ML model performance analysis. It is expected that the developed support model will guide LCA and ML users, offering a replicable approach for other sectors and contexts.Item type:Item, Esfarelamento do dualismo digital na contemporaneidade: uma leitura tecnodiscursiva(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-22) ;Sousa, Carlinho Viana de ;Baronas, Roberto Leiser ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4613001301744682https://lattes.cnpq.br/1077943769216031The discourses formulated, constituted, and circulated in the web environment are posing methodological, epistemological, and scientific challenges to traditional Discourse Analysis. This work is situated within the field of Digital Discourse Analysis, aiming to examine digital discourses native to the web—technodiscourses—where the "techno" and the "discursive" are two inseparable, co-constituted elements. To separate them implies a digital dualism: on one side, machines (the virtual world); on the other, humans (the real world)—that is, two distinct realities. With the goal of adopting a technodiscursive approach, we analyzed a multifaceted research corpus composed of the film The Emoji Movie, online comments about the film, and the analytical human-machine interaction with ChatGPT AI. Two approaches were employed: pre-digital and digital. In the pre-digital approach, grounded in Maingueneau’s enunciative theory and intersecting with theorists who discuss digital dualism, we examined the crumbling of boundaries between the real and the virtual. This stage of the research revealed that when people are offline, digital dualism still persists in some form; however, when they are online, this dualism begins to disintegrate, liquefy, and hybridize. They participate in a simulated society, where software (in this case, emojis) simulates human life. In the digital approach, the corpus was analyzed by the ChatGPT AI in a process of technodiscursive co-construction, in which human and machine, connected, produced discourse and cognition within an online environment. This reflects an ecological approach to discourse, aligned with the main argument of this thesis: that the process of technodiscursive co-construction gives rise to a simulated society, where humans, machines, software, and digital environments co-produce integrated, multiple discourses and cognitions—all deeply intertwined with the most essential technology: language.Item type:Item, A locação via Airbnb nas dinâmicas de ocupação imobiliária residencial da orla marítima de Aracaju(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-23) ;Trindade, João Vítor Araujo ;Castro, Carolina Maria Pozzi de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2178910002833930 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1828-7615https://lattes.cnpq.br/5835543045188522This dissertation proposes a contribution to the understanding of the impacts resulting from the actions of financialized agents guided by rentier capitalism on real estate dynamics and how they transform the urban space, especially after the digitalization process. In this context, the focus of the study is Airbnb, a global Short-Term Rental platform, exponent of the sharing economy and associated with a variety of urban phenomena such as gentrification and touristification, thus altering the dynamics of cities through tourism. The observation of the platform was related to its operations in the city of Aracaju, capital of the state of Sergipe, where processes of association between the State and real estate capital guided local urban development. The relationship between the real estate and tourism sectors in the housing production and occupation in the neighborhoods along the Aracaju coastline is evident, including aspects of segregation and environmental appropriation. In this sense, the work aims to analyze the relationship of mutual influence between the offer of accommodations of the platform and the real estate dynamics of the city. It is contended that Airbnb promotes the vacancy and idleness of housing units, repurposing them for functions other than housing. This is purportedly done to increase their rental value and favor the neoliberal logic of individualistic entrepreneurship. Aracaju, being a city outside the major economic centers of national capitalism and not part of the traditional tourist circuit, has shown low levels of financial activity within the dynamics of Airbnb in the city. On the other hand, the real estate dynamics in the occupation of coastal neighborhoods demonstrate a tendency towards a rentier appropriation of the coastal landscape, and the insertion of Airbnb in this system deepens the relationships already established. The data collected on the platform's activity indicate a relatively high presence of accommodations when compared to similar cities in Brazil. The high proportion of entire spaces stands out, as well as the relevance of professional hosts in the local offer. Thus, the dominance of a rentier logic of appropriation of space, landscapes and the environment is validated.Item type:Item, Entre livros e fraldas: uma análise discursiva das representações e práticas institucionais sobre mães estudantes universitárias na UFSCar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-23) ;Rodrigues, Vanessa Aparecida ;Araújo, Lígia Mara Boin Menossi de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7893136450669304https://lattes.cnpq.br/7214966200285084The impact of motherhood on women’s lives has generated debates in many spaces, specially in Brazilian public universities. In this context, the Parent in Science Movement seeks to understand, give visibility to, and propose solutions for the challenges faced by people with children, in the academic and scientific fields in Brazil. Although the current legal framework of access and permanency in higher education represents progress, it still shows a need of specific and comprehensive mechanisms to assist the students diverses demands who balance motherhood and academic life. Inspired by these discussions, this research formulates the following questions: how do institutional documents that regulate higher education discursively construct the image of women in the role of mothers as higher education students? In what way does the construction of these documents, regarding the figure of the “student mother”, influence and condition the discursive practices of mother-students in undergraduate and graduate courses in UFSCar? To answer these questions, we adopted as a theoretical and methodological basis the French Discourse Analysis (DA), based on the propositions of Michel Pêcheux (1969) about discursive formations, discursive memory, interdiscourse and mainly, imaginary formations. Initially, the investigation analyzes the construction historicity of the female roles in Brazilian society, aiming to identify the interdiscursive knowledge that functions as a reservoir of already produced and forgotten discourses that, however, conditionate and make possible the production of new (old) discourses about women. Based on this historical contextualization of women in society and in education, the analysis is directed to a set of eleven institutional documents from the State, which regulate higher education (laws, decrees, ordinances, regulations, regiments and internal policies), seeking to verify the current discursive practices related to women and student motherhood. Subsequently, based on statements taken from posters of student manifestations (expressing the demands of student mothers), we mobilized the concept of interdiscourse to describe/interpret the transversal and pre-constructed discourses that permeate the discourses of these posters. In this way, we demonstrate how discourses from the past, albeit in implicit form, resonate in present discourses, enabling others discursive formations.Item type:Item, Desenvolvimento de um sistema de aquecimento por radiação com lâmpadas infravermelhas para utilização em manufatura aditiva(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-24) ;Govoni, Valter Cesar ;Malavolta, Alexandre Tácito ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8477313173581967https://lattes.cnpq.br/8111798381904307In the modern manufacturing process research for new materials and different manufacturing methods has intensified with the purpose of increasing production, quality and easy of assembly of parts more complex. One of these technologies is 3D Printing, also known as Manufacturing Additive, which began to emerge in the 1980s with the purpose of producing prototypes three- dimensional, and currently joined in the final manufacture of products through the physical creation of a three-dimensional digital model depositing successive layers of material, until obtaining the finished piece. Despite already although there are several types of 3D printing, they are all based on the same principle of deposition by layers, but is constantly modernizing, only the material deposited varies. In this context, the present research aims to investigate the effect of temperature on the mechanical strenght and surface quality characteristics of parts printed using the FPM (Fused Pellet Modeling) technique, using the ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) polymer. To this end, a still unusual low-cost complementary heating system was developed using infrared lamps integrated into a large-scale 3D printing manufacturing cell. The main objective is to verify how additional temperature can inprove the mechanical resistance and surface quality of large-volume parts produced. Also, as the part is being built, sensors read the temperature of the part in real time, and via wireless connection, the values of these measured temperatures are sent to a data recorder, which is a computer mounted remotely near the manufacturing cell, where they can be analyzed in real time or later, in the form of tables or graphs.Item type:Item, Abordagens para reagendamento de voos de helicópteros em uma empresa de óleo e gás natural(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-24) ;Fantazzini, Tarley Mansur ;Munari Junior, Pedro Augusto ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1328868140869976 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5929-593XMorabito Neto, ReinaldoAir transportation of passengers relies on prior planning of scheduled flights. However, unforeseen events may affect this scheduling, making recovery and rescheduling actions necessary. In this context, the Aircraft Recovery Problem (ARP) arises, aiming to reschedule flights affected by such disruptions. This work addresses a specific ARP faced by a Brazilian oil and natural gas extraction company operating offshore platforms, where third-party helicopters are used to transport employees between airports and maritime units. Several optimization-based approaches are proposed to model and solve this problem. Initially, hierarchical goal programming was applied with three sequential objectives: minimizing the number of postponed flights, helicopter usage, and total delays. Optimal or near-optimal solutions were obtained with low computational times for instances with up to 50 flights. Subsequently, multi-objective models were adopted, including the weighted Chebyshev metric and the approach proposed by Lokman and Köksalan, enabling the identification of non-dominated solutions that compose the Pareto frontier. These methods showed promising results, with computational gaps below 12% and reduced execution times, even with a shortened time limit. To complement the deterministic approaches, stochastic programming techniques were incorporated to handle uncertainties in the problem parameters, aiming to capture and analyze the variability and risks associated with uncertain values such as flight time between the airport and maritime units. The integration of deterministic and stochastic approaches provided a comprehensive and flexible analysis of this ARP, enabling result optimization in both controlled and uncertain scenarios, and contributing to more effective management of aircraft recovery operations.Item type:Item, Impactos das Mudanças no Uso e Cobertura do Solo na Produção e Exportação de Sedimentos na Bacia Hidrográfica do Alto Paranapanema(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-24) ;Boniolo, Vinicius Rainer ;Martensen, Alexandre Camargo ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1608659358382981 ;Mello, Kaline dehttps://lattes.cnpq.br/1974531968891537Changes in land use and land cover are important drivers of environmental degradation in watershed areas, intensifying erosive processes and compromising the provision of ecosystem services that regulate water quantity and quality. This dissertation aimed to assess the impacts of such changes on sediment production and export in the Upper Paranapanema River Basin (BH-ALPA), located in the state of São Paulo, through multitemporal modeling based on four decades (1987, 1997, 2007, and 2017), spatial pattern analysis associated with different land use types, simulation of scenarios involving the restoration of Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs) and soil conservation practices, and validation of the modeled data with direct field measurements. The work was structured into three integrated chapters: a theoretical review, multitemporal modeling, and an applied evaluation in micro-watersheds with different land use matrices. Chapter 1 consisted of a literature review aimed at understanding the relationships between land use, erosive processes, and environmental management strategies in watersheds. This review discussed the main natural and anthropogenic factors driving soil degradation, with emphasis on the role of vegetation in controlling erosion. It also presented a critical analysis of the main models used to estimate erosion and sediment transport in watersheds, including empirical models (such as RUSLE) and semi-empirical/semi-distributed models (such as MUSLE, SWAT, AnnAGNPS, and SDR-InVEST), justifying the adoption of the SDR-InVEST model in this research. In Chapter 2, the model was applied to estimate sediment production and export in BH-ALPA for the years 1987, 1997, 2007, and 2017, based on land use data from the MapBiomas platform. The results indicated a significant increase in sediment export over recent decades, associated with the intensification and conversion of landscapes for agriculture. The modeling also made it possible to test scenarios of APP restoration and the implementation of conservation practices. Chapter 3 deepened the analysis of the influence of land use and land cover on water quality in four sub-watersheds with different landscape matrices: agriculture, pasture, and forest. Flow and physicochemical parameters of the water were collected over seven sampling campaigns and analyzed through descriptive, correlational, and multivariate statistical methods. The results revealed distinct patterns among land use types, with greater stability in forested areas and higher variability in intensively managed agricultural landscapes. Overall, the research highlights the importance of integrating soil conservation strategies into territorial planning in watersheds. Conservation practices, restoration of degraded areas, and the protection of APPs are shown to be essential for reducing sediment export and ensuring the maintenance of ecosystem services.Item type:Item, Resolução de problemas de matemática da Olimpíada Brasileira de Matemática das Escolas Públicas sob a visão da metodologia de Polya(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-24) ;Batista, Ailton Cecílio ;Seixas, Wladimir ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1697352974728327 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0843-3500https://lattes.cnpq.br/4397355751940879The objective of this work is to use Pólya’s problem-solving methodology as a tool for teaching and learning geometry concepts in the classroom. The study was developed based on four exercises from the question bank of the Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools (OBMEP), addressing topics such as perimeter, area, and formation rules. In addition to analyzing Pólya’s methodology, a generalization of the worked-out problems was made, which constitutes one of the main objectives of the book How to Solve It. This entire process was conducted in alignment with the skills and competencies outlined by the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC).Item type:Item, Síntese e funcionalização de compostos heterocíclicos visando a descoberta de fármacos antivirais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-25) ;Santos, Jhonathan Renner Nunes dos ;Corrêa, Arlene Gonçalves ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7425467156776144 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4247-2228https://lattes.cnpq.br/3969751736153847The humanity has faced numerous viral epidemics, significantly impacting daily life. Notable examples include infections caused by dengue and Zika virus, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2. In this respect, the scientific community mobilized a task force to develop vaccines and new therapies. Drug repurposing also played a crucial role during this period, as seen with remdesivir, a C-glycoside originally developed to combat the Ebola virus, that became one of the first drugs approved for emergency use against SARS-CoV-2. Despite having a well-established synthetic route, remdesivir production still posed challenges, prompting various research groups to optimize steps with low yields or harsh reaction conditions. In this context, the objective of this thesis was to synthesize C-glycoside analogs using more sustainable methods, such as C-H functionalization of N-heterocycles via photochemical processes and multicomponent reactions. Once these compounds were synthesized, their biological activity was evaluated against the proteases Mpro and PLpro of SARS-CoV-2 and NS2B-NS3Pro of the Zika virus. Concerning the C-H functionalization of N-heterocycles, 14 compounds were synthesized, with yields ranging from 10% to 81%. The developed protocol demonstrated to be regioselective, enabling the formation of a C-C bond at the C-7 position of pyrrolo[2,1-f][1,2,4]triazine. Then, 38 compounds were obtained, including derivatives of dihydropyrimidine-2(1H)-ones/thiones (DHPMs), coumarins, DHPM-coumarin hybrids, and coumarin dimers. These compounds have demonstrated potential in inhibiting the viral activity of SARS-CoV-2 and the Zika virus. For SARS-CoV-2, seven compounds showed promising activity against the Mpro enzyme, with IC50 values ranging from 4.8 to 87 µM. Six compounds exhibited effectiveness against PLpro, with IC50 values between 21 and 81 µM. Regarding the Zika virus NS2B-NS3Pro, seven compounds displayed activity, with IC50 values ranging from 0.4 to 7.1 µM. In summary, this study successfully identified potential enzymatic inhibitors for SARS-CoV-2 and Zika virus proteases using more sustainable approaches, including photochemistry and multicomponent reactions. Further studies may be conducted to enhance the efficacy of these compounds.Item type:Item, Experimental and numerical assessment of global and local stability of steel-UHPC composite alveolar beams under hogging bending(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-25) ;Oliveira, Vinicius Moura de ;Rossi, Alexandre ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3946998323160911 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9590-1554Martins, Carlos HumbertoContinuous steel-concrete composite beams provide bending moment redistribution, slight deflection, the capability to cover longer spans, and cost-effectiveness. Employing steel alveolar I-sections, High-Strength Steel (HSS), and Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) slabs in these composite beams can significantly dematerialize the structure. To the best of authors' knowledge, no studies have addressed the adoption of high-performance materials for composite alveolar beams. At the same time, composite alveolar beams under hogging bending with shear forces can reach local and global instability or the interaction between the modes, such as Lateral-Distortional Buckling (LDB) and Web-Post Buckling (WPB), requiring further investigation. The present study aimed to investigate the occurrence of LDB and WPB in composite alveolar beams, considering HSS I-sections and UHPC. For these objectives, both experimental and numerical analyses were conducted. Three-point bending tests were carried out in steel-UHPC composite castellated beams with I-sections of microalloyed steels with Niobium addition. The experimental results were used to validate the numerical model, and numerical parametric studies were also conducted. The specimens reached failure by WPB coupled with the Vierendeel mechanism (VM). This way, the length of the web openings' hexagon horizontal edge (tee length) influenced the bearing capacity of the castellated beam, in which the specimen with a higher tee length had a lower ultimate load, which was also observed in the numerical parametric study. In addition, the numerical models with the shortest web-post width were more critical for the WPB occurrence. The parametric study models also reached failure by LDB coupled with WPB, showing an elevated influence of the I-section steel yield strength, and composite castellated beams with UHPC slabs showed higher initial bending stiffness and ultimate loads than those with Normal Concrete (NC) slabs. Given this, some possibilities to dematerialize conventional composite beams under hogging bending by using HSS castellated I-sections and slabs of UHPC were verified. The dematerialization rate considered in the analysis regards the ratio between the volume of material consumption of the conventional element and the dematerialized element. Even when instability modes occur in the I-section, an I-section dematerialization rate of up to 55% can be reached using HSS castellated I-sections. In addition, only adopting the castellated I-sections, without changing the steel yield strength, can present an I-section dematerialization rate of up to 17.9%. The slab concrete can reach the dematerialization rate of 33.3% by utilizing UHPC instead of NC. Finally, the updates in ABNT NBR 8800:2024 presented a more accurate LDB resistance prediction than the previous version (ABNT NBR 8800:2008). In most cases, European codes (EC4/EC3) provided conservative LDB and WPB resistance prediction.Item type:Item, Otimização da produção de Goma Xantana: cultivo em biorreator, modelagem e análise de operabilidade(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-25) ;Oliveira, Davi Benedito ;Silva, Adilson José da ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3447469350644179 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3362-6208Horta, Antonio Carlos LuperniXanthomonas, a genus of phytopathogenic bacteria, is renowned for producing xanthan gum, a highly viscous biopolymer with diverse industrial applications. Our research group recently engineered a strain that boosts xanthan gum productivity by 50% compared to the wild type. High-viscosity broths often hinder mass transfer and oxygen supply in aerobic cultures. While previous studies have tackled these challenges through advanced aeration and mixing strategies, our approach takes a different path. The hypothesis proposes that the implementation of a controlled continuous cultivation system designed to keep viscosity within an optimal range would ensure unobstructed medium mixing and maintain adequate oxygen transfer. To realize this strategy, a kinetic model was developed capturing biomass growth, product formation, and substrate and oxygen consumption. Existing models from the literature were adapted to fit our experimental data from bench-scale bioreactors. The final model is supported by a neural network trained on our viscosity measurements to predict how viscosity evolves as xanthan gum accumulates. This combined framework supports simulations of batch, fed-batch, and continuous processes, offering versatile tools for process design and optimization. The system was validated with batch cultures in 1.5 L and 6 L bioreactors, and an operability study was conducted under continuous conditions. These experiments identified process parameters that sustain optimal viscosity and maximize oxygen transfer. Ultimately, the approach delivered a 220% productivity increase over standard batch processes, far exceeding initial expectations.Item type:Item, Ensino de precisão: um sistema para ensino de habilidades e treinamento para profissionais que atuam com pessoas autistas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-25) ;Moraes, Priscilla Terumi ;Carmo, João dos Santos ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1263046410329694https://lattes.cnpq.br/9518547135700384This thesis investigates the effectiveness of Precision Teaching (PT) in training professionals working with autistic individuals. The thesis comprises four articles exploring various aspects of PT, including its implementation, efficacy in interventions with autistic individuals, the impact of graph standardization on clinical decision-making, and an online procedure for teaching the Standard Celeration Chart (SCC). Chapter 1 is introductory and explains the thesis' objectives. Chapter 2 provides a comprehensive introduction to PT, detailing its core components and offering a practical implementation guide. Chapter 3 presents a systematic literature review analyzing PT's efficacy in interventions with autistic individuals. The review included 11 studies with diverse methodological characteristics (designs, populations, skills taught). Results showed strong evidence of PT's effectiveness in academic skills (primarily mathematics and reading), along with indications of maintenance, resistance, stability, application, and generalization. The review also highlights the need for future studies with enhanced methodological rigor. Chapter 4 investigates how behavior analysts use graphs for decision-making, assessing the influence of graph standardization. In this study, 19 analysts examined 5 graphs (3 line graphs, 2 SCCs) with identical data but different scales and representations. Chapter 5 presents a study evaluating an online teaching procedure for the SCC. Four behavior analytic therapists participated, training on 18 skills using videos and online meetings. Results indicated the procedure's effectiveness in increasing correct responses and decreasing errors, with 93.4% inter-observer agreement. Results demonstrate that graph standardization improves agreement among analysts regarding instructional decisions. Finally, Chapter 6 discusses the findings, their implications for practice and research, and suggests future directions. In summary, this dissertation contributes to understanding and applying PT in interventions with autistic individuals.Item type:Item, Entropia de transferência para cadeias estocásticas com memória de alcance variável(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-25) ;Santana, José Olívio da Silva ;Ferreira, Ricardo Felipe ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2355076087945221https://lattes.cnpq.br/7256020961352532Transfer entropy is a measure of causality between two time series, quantifying the information that one process provides about the future of another. In this thesis, we consider the problem of estimating the transfer entropy rate between two discrete stochastic processes using the plug-in estimator. When the joint process is a stationary, absolutely regular chain with variable-length memory and whose the dynamics is governed by a 𝑔-function that is not necessarily continuous but is perfectly simulatable, we derive bounds for the probability of concentration of the empirical transfer entropy around its mean and its rate. Next, we establish the convergence of this estimator to a normal distribution, thus providing a Central Limit Theorem for this functional. In this case, we restrict our analysis to processes compatible with continuous 𝑔-functions.Item type:Item, As contradições presentes no currículo e nos projetos políticos pedagógicos das escolas do campo de Limeira/SP: uma análise a partir da Pedagogia histórico-crítica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-25) ;Jurgensen, Karina Yara ;Santos, Maria Cristina dos ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1095065753077001https://lattes.cnpq.br/5218454576679092This research investigates the implementation of Historical-Critical Pedagogy (HCP) in the curriculum of the municipal education network of Limeira-SP and its relationship with the Political Pedagogical Projects (PPPs) of rural schools, considering the specificities of this educational context. The study is based on the assumption that, in a scenario marked by neoliberal policies in education, the Common National Curriculum Base (BNCC), guided by competencies and skills, significantly influences teacher training, teaching materials, and standardized assessments—elements that do not align with the principles of HCP. To analyze this issue, a qualitative approach was adopted, combining a literature review (theses and dissertations on HCP, curriculum, and Rural Education) and document analysis (Limeira’s municipal curriculum and the PPPs of rural schools). The results revealed that: (1) the municipal curriculum does not incorporate the particularities of Rural Education, reflecting a disconnect with the needs of this population; (2) the BNCC, as a hegemonic policy, subordinates pedagogical practice to meritocratic logics, limiting the effective implementation of HCP; and (3) while the PPPs make occasional references to HCP and Rural Education, they lack theoretical depth or concrete proposals. It is concluded that, although HCP is the official pedagogical approach of the municipal network, its materialization faces structural challenges, such as the predominance of the BNCC and the lack of specific curricular guidelines for Rural Education. Therefore, it would be pertinent to revise the municipal curriculum to include the specificities of Rural Education, alongside critical continuing teacher training, aiming to strengthen HCP as a transformative alternative to the neoliberal educational model.Item type:Item, Impacto da morfologia urbana nas condições térmicas internas e externas de habitações de interesse social: acoplamento entre ENVI-met e EnergyPlus(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-25) ;Apolinário, Bruna de Souza ;Masiero, Érico ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2691827106518167 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8665-335Xhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/4617953999200789Amid global warming, the increasing occurrence of heat waves, and the urban heat island effect, exploring solutions to mitigate human thermal stress and energy demand for cooling becomes essential. In this context, urban planning that considers morphology indices aligned with the climate contributes to improving both external and internal thermal conditions of housing. Based on these issues, this study aims to analyze the external and internal thermal conditions of social housing units in relation to verticality and built typologies, both during and outside a heat wave. To achieve this, scenarios were developed with three housing typologies: single-story houses, H-shaped towers, and courtyard buildings. Multifamily housing was analyzed at two heights: 14 and 29 meters. The methodology was based on the collection of microclimatic data and computational simulations. The scenarios were simulated using the ENVI-met software, with the collected data used as input. The microclimatic data from these simulations were subsequently coupled to EnergyPlus using the chaining method and the BCVTB software. The results highlighted the high levels of thermal stress to which social housing residents are exposed during heat waves, which can cause heat cramps, exhaustion, and heatstroke, negatively affecting health and well-being. Additionally, it was found that scenarios with courtyard buildings performed best externally, being the only ones to provide areas without extreme thermal stress. However, internally, they generated the highest levels of thermal stress and energy demand for cooling, with a 29.22% increase. On the other hand, H-shaped towers, despite presenting less favorable external thermal conditions compared to courtyard buildings, achieved the best internal results. These scenarios were the only ones without internal thermal stress levels classified as "at risk" and reduced cooling energy demand by 20.97% compared to single-story houses. Regarding building height, the reduction proved advantageous during the heat wave but unfavorable outside this period. These results highlight the impact of housing typologies and building height on thermal stress levels and energy demand for cooling. However, they indicate that while an urban configuration may improve external thermal conditions, it may worsen internal conditions. Therefore, it is essential to deepen studies on the impact of urban morphology on the indoor thermal environment of housing to support urban planning that minimizes both energy consumption and external and internal thermal stress.Item type:Item, Investigando o crescimento e a composição bioquímica de Chlorolobion lunulatum em escalas de 20 e 200 L(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-25) ;Gonçalves, Maria Eduarda Costa ;Lombardi, Ana Teresa ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6737850858443813 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4299-3640https://lattes.cnpq.br/1391729871680000Green microalgae have attracted biotechnological interest due to their ability to accumulate value-added biomolecules, such as proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and photosynthetic pigments. In addition to being efficient in converting CO2 and sunlight into biomass, Chlorophyta species can present high productivity per area and versatility in different environmental conditions. Among the promising species, Chlorolobion lunulatum stands out, still little studied, but with potential for expanded cultivation already demonstrated in the Laboratory of Algae Biotechnology, where this study was carried out. Our main objective was to evaluate aspects of the physiology of C. lunulatum in two cultivation systems of different scales: in a 20 L tubular photobioreactor and in 200 L raceway ponds. While in 20 L, the cultivations had controlled light intensity, in 200 L shade nets were used to mitigate the intensity of incident sunlight. At the end of the cultivation period, the contents of lipids, proteins and carbohydrates, and photosynthetic pigments in the biomass were determined. Growth rates were used to compare the crops, which were grown for ten days. The 200 L crops showed a higher specific growth rate (1.14 d-1), higher biomass production and higher levels of proteins (up to 23% DW), lipids (28% DW) and carbohydrates (16% DW), evidencing the viability of cultivation in larger-scale systems. On the other hand, the 20 L cultures showed significantly higher concentrations of chlorophyll a (10.51 mg L-1) and chlorophyll b (8.15 mg L-1), while the carotenoid concentration in the biomass did not show significant variation between 20 and 200 L. The data indicate that the tubular photobioreactor favored the synthesis of photosynthetic pigments, while the raceway favored the accumulation of biomolecules, such as proteins and lipids. Therefore, C. lunulatum presents biochemical characteristics that make it a promising candidate for industrial applications, especially in the energetic sector.Item type:Item, AmarElo: passagens Intermidiáticas entre o álbum fonográfico e o documentário musical(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-04-25) ;Vieira, Matheus José ;Paiva, Samuel José Holanda de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7222933274927263https://lattes.cnpq.br/4031343458755251This research project focuses on the musical documentary Emicida: AmarElo – É Tudo Pra Ontem (2019), directed by Fred Ouro Preto and produced by Laboratório Fantasma in coproduction with Netflix. The film analysis is based on the concept of “intermedial passages” (NAGIB, 2018) among the various media products that make up the AmarElo project—album, music videos, live performance, and podcast—to investigate how these relationships construct its narrative. The research is situated within the history of “Brazilian Black Cinema” (CARVALHO, 2022) and seeks to answer: how can the production of this film be understood from the perspective of contemporary Brazilian Black Cinema? The hypothesis suggests that intermedial passages expand the possibilities for inserting Emicida’s discourse and that of Laboratório Fantasma, articulating culture and politics as means of confronting structural racism (ALMEIDA, 2019) in Brazil. The results indicate that intermediality in the documentary is not merely a market strategy but functions as a central element in the construction of a political project. The film reaffirms the memory of Black resistance in Brazil and establishes connections with the Afro-diaspora, revisiting episodes such as the Unified Black Movement’s demonstration at the Theatro Municipal in 1978. To deepen this analysis, the research examines the intermedial passages in the songs AmarElo, Quem Tem um Amigo Tem Tudo, and Pantera Negra.
