    This study analyzed the impact of the installation of paddle aerators on the treatment efficiency of a facultative lagoon responsible for the depuration of effluent from the Savencia Brasil Industry (Angatuba/SP). The installation was carried out with the aim of improving the effectiveness of the wastewater treatment from this processed cheese industry through aeration. The industrial effluent treatment process helps reduce parameters such as turbidity, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), in addition to stabilizing the pH and increasing the Dissolved Oxygen (DO), occurring progressively and naturally. The applied methodology included the installation of eight aerators and the monitoring of the efficiency of the oxygenation process. For this purpose, physicochemical analyses of the treated effluent were carried out to verify the effectiveness of the implemented system. Finally, the expected results involve improving the quality of the final effluent and minimizing the environmental impact caused by the industry, aiming for a more sustainable operation and improved well-being for the local community.

    Approximately 700,000 tons of industrial dyes are released into the environment annually, many of which are toxic and genotoxic, requiring advanced treatments. Advanced Oxidative Processes (AOPs) emerge as an alternative for efficient manipulation by reactive oxygen species; these processes can be optimized by specific oxides such as TiO2. Thus, the main objective of this study was to analyze the efficiency of the manipulation of the dye Erythrosine B, with the application of AOPs, photolysis and photocatalysis with the addition of titanium dioxide, and to verify the effects related to the modification of some parameters, namely pH, type of catalyst (different crystal structures) and concentration of catalyst. The results showed that Erythrosine B presents satisfactory manipulation (maximum absorption at 526.5 nm) during photolysis and photocatalysis, presenting manipulation efficiency of 39.8% after 5h of photolysis and 48.3% after the period of 2h and 15 minutes in photocatalysis. The optimized settings were: TiO2 (P25 – 80%/20% anatase/rutile); TiO2 concentration 1.0 g/L and medium pH equal to 7.0. In the optimized scenario, the kinetic constant was 1.51×10−3 min−1 for photolysis and 4.91×10−3 min−1 in photocatalysis.

    With the technological advancements and industrial innovations of the 20th century, much of the mechanical work began to be performed by electric machines, primarily induction motors, due to their practicality and robustness. As a result, the control of these machines became a fundamental component in the application of this technology, given the wide range of applications that require specific behaviors from these motors. In this context, the project to be developed involves the practical application of a drive and control bench for a squirrel-cage three-phase induction motor. The bench will consist of the induction motor, a frequency inverter, encoder, signal conditioning circuits, DC power supply, and microcontroller. The implementation of this project covers theoretical aspects related to the induction machine, microcontrollers, power electronics, drive circuits, and sensing systems. Experimental results aim to demonstrate the operation of the bench, enabling future use for analysis and control of three-phase electric machines in the laboratory. Ultimately, the work aims to contribute to the educational environment and the understanding of concepts taught in various disciplines of the Electrical Engineering course at the Federal University of São Carlos

    This thesis investigates, through theoretical-computational methods, the development and characterization of two multifunctional materials intended for catalytic and therapeutic applications. In the first part, silver alpha tungstate was evaluated as a functional material for the generation of reactive oxygen species. The optimization calculations of the lattice parameters and the construction of morphologies via the Wulff method evidenced the predominance of the (101) surface in the formation of a hexagonal bar, which, combined with the specific distribution of oxygen vacancies and the configuration of silver quantum clusters, showed a high capacity for the selective adsorption of H₂O and O₂ molecules. These interactions promote the formation of reactive precursors, essential for oxidation processes and photocatalytic applications, confirming the relevance of silver alpha tungstate as a catalyst in environmental processes and in the degradation of pollutants. In the second part, the thesis addresses the application of boron nitride nanotubes as a nanocarrier for the drug FLU, an antiandrogen used in the treatment of prostate cancer. Through DFT calculations, it was observed that the encapsulation of FLU in BNNT does not promote significant structural changes, maintaining the stability of the system both in vacuum and in aqueous media. The results reveal favorable interactions, characterized by negative adsorption energies, which indicate a charge transfer from BNNT to FLU, facilitating the formation of a stable complex. Molecular dynamics simulations corroborated the maintenance of the encapsulated drug over 50 ns, with analyses of center of mass distance, RMSD and radial distribution functions confirming the structural integrity of the system. In addition, the analysis of the binding free energy by MM and PBSA showed that van der Waals and electrostatic interactions are determinants for the stability of the FLU complex with BNNT. Together, the results demonstrate the potential of the studied materials both in promoting catalytic reactions and in improving drug delivery, opening new perspectives for the development of innovative multifunctional systems in environmental and therapeutic catalysis.

    The limit to the right to private property is a too much discussed question in Locke’s thought. It is possible to state that this theme divided Locke's interpreters into two main groups: those who believe Locke defended the unlimited right to private property and those who, on the other hand, tried to show that Locke defended the limited right to private property. This work aims to demonstrate that the right to private property for Locke is only established when limited to conditions of a moral and political-legal nature, examining these conditions both in the state of nature and in the political state. To this end, we intend to highlight the restrictions suggested by Locke himself to the right to private property: restriction against waste, and to leave enough and as good for others and the natural human incapacity to appropriate considerable amount of land so as to not to leave enough and as good for others, in the context of initial state of nature, in which there is much more land available than individuals to appropriate it. With the invention of money and the emergence of the State, these conditions change. On the one hand, with the introduction of money, restrictions are reconfigured, as utility changes and appropriation capacity expands. On the other hand, the territorial delimitation inherent in the constitution of the State now restricts the amount of land available, which changes the requirement to leave so much land available and of such good quality that “enough” is left for the conservation of each of the others. Thus, based on the articulation between the foundations of the right to private property and its restrictions, and the role of money and the political State within the scope of these relations, we intend to offer more evidence and corroborate the thesis that for Locke the right to private property is only established when circumscribed by conditions of a clearly limiting nature to this right.
