Item type:Item, A trajetória da distribuidora O2 Play na busca de caminhos possíveis(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-22) ;Camargo, Rogério Zagallo ;Sá Neto, Arthur Autran Franco de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5055550097454248 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4455-8105https://lattes.cnpq.br/6274353645354362This research investigates the trajectory of the distributor O2 Play during its first ten years of operation, examining the possible paths of audiovisual distribution that have emerged as a result of technological, market, and public policy transformations in Brazil and worldwide over recent decades. The study analyzes the impact of public policies such as FUNCINE (Funds for the Financing of the National Film Industry), PAR (Additional Revenue Award), and the FSA (Audiovisual Sector Fund), and their relationship with the creation of a favorable environment for the emergence of new Brazilian independent distributors, including O2 Play. A qualitative methodology was applied to the analysis of official data on theatrical film releases and public investments received by the distributor, as provided by OCA (the Brazilian Observatory of Cinema and Audiovisual) of ANCINE (the National Cinema Agency), Audiovisual Sector Fund, and BRDE (Regional Development Bank of the Extreme South). The research mapped the various distribution strategies pursued by O2 Play, ranging from theatrical exhibition to free-to-air and pay television, and extending to digital platforms, across a wide range of negotiation formats. The study concludes with a case study of the documentary Chorão, Marginal Alado (Felipe Novaes, 2021), distributed by O2 Play.Item type:Item, Coleções entomológicas como ferramenta pedagógica na transformação das representações sociais sobre a diversidade dos insetos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-23) ;Oliveira, Rubens Coutinho Soares ;Dias, Angélica Maria Penteado Martins ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8637344058859147 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8371-5591https://lattes.cnpq.br/4898340644268325This study investigated the contributions of building entomological collections as an active pedagogical strategy for transforming the negative social representations of elementary school students about insects. The qualitative-quantitative research was conducted with 23 seventh-grade students from a public school in São Carlos, São Paulo, using pre- and post-intervention questionnaires to map changes in affective, conceptual, and taxonomic dimensions.Based on Moscovici's Theory of Social Representations and Abric's structural approach, as well as Costa Neto's Ethnoentomology and Paulo Freire's pedagogy of autonomy, the study initially diagnose da strong “Entomoprojective Ambivalence,” where feelings of disgust and fear predominated, associated with a negative utilitarian view and taxonomic errors. The results obtained after the collection assembly workshop revealed a significant reversal in the affective polarity of the class: the feeling of “Disgust” was drastically reduced, giving way to “Curiosity,”which became the dominant feeling, although “Fear” remained stable, suggesting the resistance of the central core of the representation. In the cognitive sphere, a qualitative leap was observed in the morphological accuracy of the drawings and a 76.32% reduction in taxonomic identification errors, indicating the overcoming of the “insect” ethnocategory. Furthermore, there was a transition in functional perception, which shifted from the notion of “harmfulness/uselessness” to an “Ecological Systemic” understanding. It can be concluded that the direct and technical manipulation of specimens acted as an effective mediating device in the flexibilization of the peripheral system ofsocial representations, allowing students to transition from naive curiosityto epistemological curiosity, reconfiguring their relationship with biodiversity from one of extermination to one of scientific investigation and respect.Item type:Item, Surface functionalization of the AA2017 aluminum alloy powder for use in additive manufacturing(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-23) ;Batistão, Bruna Fernanda ;Gargarella, Piter ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4641435644243916 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4445-5819https://lattes.cnpq.br/4842890331231831Additive manufacturing (AM) of high-strength aluminum alloys faces challenges due to their high reflectivity, high thermal conductivity, poor powder flowability, and susceptibility to solidification cracking during laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF). These issues hinder stable powder spreading, full densification, and microstructural control, thus limiting their industrial applicability. In this context, the objective of this work was to investigate the surface functionalization of gas-atomized AA2017 powder – an aircraft Al-Cu-Mg alloy from the 2xxx series (EN AW-2017, AlCu4MgSi) – as a viable strategy to improve flowability, laser absorption, and solidification behavior during L-PBF processing. Two approaches were explored: chemical etching using acidic (HNO3) and basic (NaOH) solutions, and the addition of TiC particles with different sizes and concentrations. Chemical etching treatments improved powder flowability and laser energy absorption but promoted the formation of oxide layers on powder surface, which increased oxidation-related porosity in the as-built samples. Conversely, the addition of TiC effectively modified the alloy solidification, promoting strong microstructural refinement and a columnar-to-equiaxed transition, along with the formation of coherent Al3Ti particles, resulting in dense and crack-free samples. A key and novel outcome of this work is that fine micrometer-sized TiC particles (<4 μm) outperformed nanoparticles in enhancing the microstructure and mechanical properties of the AA2017 alloy. Although nanoparticles can theoretically provide greater grain refinement and strengthening, their strong tendency to agglomerate limited their efficiency. Therefore, the addition of fine micrometer-sized TiC particles proved to be a practical and efficient route to improve the processability of high-strength aluminum alloys by L-PBF, while also being safer to handle than nanoparticles. Additionally, to the best of the author's knowledge, this work provides important and new insights into the mechanisms governing grain refinement, strengthening, and discontinuous yielding behavior in TiC-modified 2xxx series aluminum alloys in L-PBF for the first time in the literature.Item type:Item, Planejar em Desenhos: a visão das professoras de Educação Infantil(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-23) ;Mucheroni, Alice Meirelles ;Zanon, Dulcimeire Aparecida Volante ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1811225448261362 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3728-6175https://lattes.cnpq.br/7450009330370517This research investigated the use of drawing as a resource for pedagogical planning in Early Childhood Education, seeking to answer the central question: what is the teachers’ view of the action of planning through drawings? The scarcity of studies that relate drawing and planning reinforced the relevance of the investigation. The theoretical foundation of the research leads us to understand the drawing of planning as an ethical and aesthetic act, in which the teacher is constituted in a dialogical relationship with the other, assuming their uniqueness and responsibility toward the world. This perspective is articulated with Participatory Pedagogies, which value the child as protagonist and the listening of their multiple languages. In this context, drawing takes a place in sensitive planning, conceived as a flexible, documentary, and expressive pathway. The study also dialogues with the idea of the Reflective Teacher, which leads us to reflect on drawing as a tool for reflection in action and the transformation of practice, and with Visual Literacy, which legitimizes drawing as an essential competence for thinking, organizing, and communicating pedagogical ideas. The data were produced in five meetings held at a Municipal Center for Early Childhood Education in São Carlos, with the participation of eleven teachers. As instruments, we obtained the drawings produced by the teachers, written records, the researcher’s reflective journal, conversation circles, and word clouds, which were analyzed using Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA). The results initially showed insecurity and resistance among the teachers to drawing, resulting from the predominance of writing in pedagogical practice. However, throughout the meetings, drawing was re-signified as a resource that favored clarity, organization, and playfulness in planning. The participants recognized that drawing made it possible to get closer to their own pedagogical intentions, as well as to broaden reflection on the spaces, times, and materials of Early Childhood Education. We conclude that drawing can be incorporated into planning as a complementary language, enriching the process of pedagogical organization and strengthening child-centered practices. The research contributed to the professional development of the teachers and resulted in an educational product composed of suggestions for integrating drawing into teaching planning.Item type:Item, Avanços e limites de intervenções urbanísticas em assentamentos informais de municípios de médio porte no Brasil e Argentina(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-26) ;Almeida, Natasha Nême Gonçalves de ;Ursino, Sandra Valeria ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6136-5105 ;Gonçalves, Luciana Márciahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/9491069760631962In the 20th century, the rapid demographic growth and the uncontrolled urban expansion in Latin America contributed to the formation of informal settlements in the cities. The right to adequate housing has been widely studied at the international level; however, its multidimensional character, according to the definitions of the UN General Comment N. 4, still lacks parameters for analysis and application. An important step to define such parameters is the evaluation of political actions promoted by legal instruments. Urban and housing policy went through important milestones — in Brazil, through the Federal Constitution (1988) and the City Statute (2001), and in Argentina, through the Constitution (1994) and the Ley de Acceso Justo al Hábitat (2013). In both countries, especially in the area of land tenure and urban regularization, the revision implemented in Brazil by the Federal Law of Urban Land Regularization (13.465/2017) and, in Argentina, by the National Law of the Regimén para la Integración Socio-urbana (27.453/2018) brought significant changes. Moreover, despite the diversity of housing programs implemented in Argentina and the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program in Brazil, the housing needs of the low-income population persists, and access to urbanized land remains highly financialized. Considering such paradigm changes in the last 15 years, the objective of this study was to analyze the results promoted by these changes in the legal and regulatory framework regarding access to urbanized land by low-income populations. For this purpose, the advances and limits of intervention policies in informal settlements were evaluated, considering land tenure and urban regularization at the municipal and/or provincial levels, based on six selected cases of urbanization, removal, and regularization — completed or in an advanced stage — in the medium-sized cities of Bauru (Brazil, State of São Paulo) and La Plata (Province of Buenos Aires). The methodology included bibliometric and bibliographic review, documental research, field research, and qualitative-quantitative evaluation of the right to adequate housing involving the dimensions of tenure security, location, and availability of services, materials, facilities, and infrastructure. The results provided an exchange of experiences involving political actions applied in both cities, based on the selected case studies.Item type:Item, Métodos: estabilidade a longo prazo da regulação autonômica e cardiovascular em um modelo de serpente descerebrada(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-26) ;Leite, Cléo Alcantara Costa ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2031764784233552https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5648-5903Item type:Item, A pele dos anfíbios como fontes de biomarcadores para estudos de monitoramento ambiental: uma revisão bibliográfica sistemática(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-27) ;Chiaperini, Matheus Henrique da Silva ;Salla, Raquel Fernanda ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1738422158151824 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8689050972573634Carvalho, Cleoni dos SantosAmphibians constitute a broad and diverse group and are considered reliable bioindicator models due to their high sensitivity to environmental changes. Amphibian skin is a semipermeable, vascularized organ endowed with multiple functions and complex characteristics, which can be used as valuable tools in ecotoxicological studies. However, the application of cutaneous biomarkers in amphibian research remains limited and scattered throughout the literature, which may hinder an integrated understanding of their potential as well as their possible limitations. Therefore, the aim of this study was to conduct a systematic literature review, critically analyzing scientific publications on cutaneous biomarkers that have been employed in ecotoxicological studies involving amphibians. To this end, a qualitative–quantitative systematic literature search was carried out, focusing on articles published between 1900 and 2024. Searches were performed using web-based search tools and scientific databases (Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and ScienceDirect), applying specific combinations of keywords and selecting and classifying articles according to predefined eligibility criteria. The screening process resulted in 54 articles published worldwide, demonstrating that these specific types of biomarkers remain underestimated in scientific research. The geographical distribution of the studies revealed a predominance of publications from European and Latin American countries. Among the experimental models, adult-stage anurans were the most frequently used, and the sex of the individuals was not reported in most studies (74.1%). The results also showed a predominance of studies that did not report the anatomical region of the skin used as the source of cutaneous tissue samples (e.g., ventral, dorsal, lateral skin). Regarding ecotoxicological assay types, studies involving direct dermal exposure and acute exposure durations predominated, indicating a greater interest in simulating immediate effects in toxicological assays. The most frequently studied contaminant classes were agrochemicals and metals, reflecting a preference for more “classical” toxicants in toxicology, while emerging contaminants remained underrepresented, such as industrial residues (3.2%) and radiation (6.4%). The most commonly applied biomarker classes were physiological analyses (33.9%), followed by histological (32.2%) and morphological (18.6%) assessments, highlighting the relevance of the skin as one of the main routes of entry and absorption for various environmental compounds. Overall, our findings not only compiled and organized relevant ecotoxicological data for amphibian studies but also highlighted several methodological limitations that still need to be addressed in future research. It is expected that this compilation may serve as a robust and relevant foundation to encourage further studies to expand the application of cutaneous biomarkers as a promising tool in amphibian research.Item type:Item, Motivações e percepções de consumidores sobre veículos híbridos e elétricos: um estudo na região de Campinas/sp(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-27) ;Anastacio, Evelyn Rodrigues ;Hoffmann, Wanda Aparecida Machado ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7609135667093837 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1359-1802https://lattes.cnpq.br/3545720742004188This study aims to analyze the purchase motivations of consumers of hybrid and electric vehicles in the Campinas/SP region. A qualitative approach with an exploratory and interpretive character was adopted, grounded in theoretical frameworks from marketing, consumer anthropology, and sustainability studies. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews with owners of these vehicles. In the specialized literature, electromobility is often associated with attributes of environmental sustainability. However, the results indicate that, in the context investigated, purchase decisions are predominantly driven by economic factors related to cost–benefit considerations, while technological attributes play a complementary role. Environmental sustainability proved to be secondary, being mobilized instrumentally within economic evaluations. The findings highlight a mismatch between green marketing discourses and the motivations effectively activated in consumer behavior within the field of electromobility.Item type:Item, Influência da adição de fibras no comportamento ao cisalhamento de vigas de concreto de alta resistência(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-27) ;Vaz, Viviane Visnardi ;Almeida, Ricardo Laguardia Justen de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7352278288074474 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4251-1146Parsekian, Guilherme ArisThe understanding of shear behavior in reinforced concrete beams is a relevant topic in structural engineering, especially with the introduction of fibers into the cementitious matrix, which increases the complexity of the resisting mechanisms but provides gains in ductility, residual strength, and crack control. Research has focused on conventional-strength concretes, leaving gaps regarding the performance of high-strength concretes (C55–C90) with diverse types and dosages of fibers and their behavior in beams without transverse reinforcement. This study investigated the contribution of fibers to the shear resistance of high-strength fiber-reinforced concrete (HSFRC) beams without stirrups and conducted a critical assessment of the applicability of the design equations of ABNT NBR 16935 (2021) for estimating the shear capacity of these beams, which are currently not addressed by the standard. The results were compared with recent international guidelines from Eurocode 2 (2023) (EC2) and the fib Model Code 2020 (2024) (MC2020). The experimental program included the mechanical characterization of C55, C70, and C90 concrete reinforced with steel fibers and macro-synthetic fibers (0.5% and 1.0%), comprising compressive strength, elastic modulus, residual flexural tensile strength, and direct shear strength tests using the JSCE-SF6 and push-off methods. HSFRC beams without transverse reinforcement were evaluated to evaluate the influence of concrete strength, fiber type, and fiber dosage on shear behavior. Digital image correlation (DIC) was employed in selected tests to analyze the cracking process. The results showed that fiber addition increased the cracking load, controlled crack opening, and enhanced shear resistance, particularly in the case of steel fibers. The direct shear test methods exhibited significant variability in their results, indicating the need for standardization. The analysis revealed that ABNT NBR 16935 (2021) tends to overestimate the shear capacity of HSFRC beams, whereas the EC2 and MC2020 formulations proved to be more conservative. A calibration of the EC2 equations was proposed, resulting in improved agreement with the experimental results and reduced dispersion. These findings provide a relevant contribution to Brazilian standardization, aligned with experimental evidence and international trends, enabling the safe and economical use of fiber-reinforced concrete in structural elements.Item type:Item, As contribuições das relações dialógicas para a prevenção da LGBTfobia no ensino superior(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-27) ;Perassoli, Enayton ;Mello, Roseli Rodrigues de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5233854244313683 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1782-890Xhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/4866379842734876Violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression is a global problem, and since universities are embedded in society, this form of violence also manifests itself within them. Recent studies point to the effectiveness of actions aimed at preventing LGBTphobia in these institutions, highlighting the role of university administrations, the provision of training on sexual and gender diversity, as well as friendships and support networks as central factors in preventing and overcoming this violence. Based on research conducted between 2024 and 2025 at a Brazilian public university located in the interior of the state of São Paulo, this study aimed to understand how friendships and support networks, built from dialogical relationships, can act as factors in preventing violence against LGBT+ people in the university context, as well as to identify actions that higher education institutions can promote for this purpose. The research is based on dialogical learning and communicative methodology, articulated with contributions from critical pedagogy, social psychology, phenomenology, and gender and sexuality studies. Data was collected through an online questionnaire, communicative accounts of daily life, and communicative focus groups. Through dialogue with participants, exclusionary and transformative dimensions that tend to contribute to, or not contribute to, the prevention and overcoming of LGBTphobic violence were analyzed. The results indicated that actions centered on the preventive role of friendships and support networks, constituted by LGBT+ and cis-heterosexual people, as evidenced by international literature, produce transformative impacts also in the Brazilian context. As a result of these findings and the dialogue established throughout the investigation, proposals and practical actions aimed at preventing and overcoming LGBTphobia in higher education were developed, highlighting empathy as a central element for the constitution of dialogical relationships and for sensitization processes between socially distinct groups.Item type:Item, Educação Física na Educação Infantil: análise dos saberes e fazeres docentes no Campo de Experiências "Corpo, Gestos e Movimentos".(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-27) ;Eichenberger, Paula Toffani ;Metzner, Andreia Cristina ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6385998417152903 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1479474824229573https://orcid.org/0009-0009-6171-3251Physical Education plays a crucial role in the integral development of children in Early Childhood Education by combining movement and bodily expression as pedagogical tools. This curricular component not only fosters motor skills but also promotes cognitive, emotional, and social development, encouraging autonomy, creativity, and interaction from the earliest years of life. Therefore, Physical Education teachers play an essential role in planning activities that integrate motor, cognitive, social, and emotional aspects. Their practices should be playful, inclusive, and safe, promoting bodily exploration, collective interaction, and children’s well-being. Furthermore, movement needs to be understood and used as a language of learning, encouraging healthy habits and positive interpersonal relationships. Thus, the main objective of this study was to analyze the didactic-pedagogical possibilities of the Field of Experience “Body, Gestures, and Movements,” proposed by the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), from the perspective of Physical Education teachers working in Early Childhood Education. A qualitative and exploratory research design was adopted. Thirty-one Physical Education teachers from municipal Early Childhood Education institutions in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, participated in the study. Data were collected through questionnaires administered via Google Forms, ensuring the confidentiality of the responses, and analyzed based on the principles of content analysis. Finally, a booklet containing suggestions of activities for the Field of Experience “Body, Gestures, and Movements” in Early Childhood Education, as well as a Mini Pedagogical Workshop, was developed. This booklet constitutes the educational product resulting from this master’s dissertation. The results indicated that understandings of the body and movement are organized in a heterogeneous manner, shaped by different educational backgrounds, accumulated professional experiences, and concrete working conditions. It is concluded that, although the Field of Experience is recognized as a curricular reference, the theoretical and pedagogical foundations that support it are not always fully made explicit in teaching practices.Item type:Item, Cohomologia de Cech e gerbes(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-28) ;Morais, Laurinda Aparecida Ferreira de ;Ruffino, Fabio Ferrari ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2512107188781159 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8607-3715https://lattes.cnpq.br/4093179250656591The investigation for global properties of mathematical objects often relies on an understanding of their local behavior. However, when one attempts to assemble local data from different regions of a space, obstructions may rise, revealing intrinsic topological information about the space itself. Sheaf Theory organizes mathematical information defined on local regions, while Cech Cohomology measures when this local information cannot be consistently combined to form a global object. This work develop these theories, starting from categorical foundations, including monoidal categories and 2-categories, and advancing toward sheaf theory and Cech cohomology. Subsequently, these tools are applied to the study of vector bundles, presenting a geometric model for the first Chern class, which arises within the context of Cech cohomology as the class that classifies complex line bundles up to isomorphism, thus providing a geometric interpretation of the cohomology group $H^2(X, \mathbb{Z})$. Finally, we introduce gerbes as structures that generalize line bundles within a 2-categorical framework. Using Cech cohomology and the language of 2-categories, it is described how gerbes relate to third-degree cohomology classes, offering a geometric model of $H^3(X, \mathbb{Z})$.Item type:Item, Análise da eficiência na educação dos municípios paulistas entre 2017 e 2021: uma abordagem não paramétrica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-28) ;Silva, Aron Momberg da ;Santana, Naja Brandão ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4950197164940762 ;Rodrigues, Rodrigo Vilelahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/7066100737307566The present study evaluated the efficiency in the management of resources allocated to basic education in municipalities within the state of São Paulo, addressing the problem of allocative inefficiency where increases in per-pupil spending do not necessarily reflect improvements in educational indicators. To this end, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was employed using the BCC model with variable returns to scale, alongside the inverted frontier method and a composite index to ensure a precise differentiation of all analyzed municipalities between 2017 and 2021. By modeling the relationship between socioeconomic and financial inputs relative to IDEB performance, the study sought to investigate the influence of population size and the adaptability of school networks in the face of exogenous shocks, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, providing evidence on the importance of technical management over budgetary expansion.Item type:Item, Espumação química de PVC rígido empregando azodicarbonamida e bicarbonato de sódio(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-28) ;Gouvêa, Noélle Barbosa Favero ;Bettini, Sílvia Helena Prado ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3687551763124327 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6549-2980Staffa, Lucas HenriquePoly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) ranks third in the global production of thermoplastic polymers, and due to its long degradation time, it becomes essential to adopt strategies that reduce raw-material consumption in large-scale applications such as rigid sewer pipes. This study evaluated the chemical foaming of typical PVC formulations for sewage systems, comparing azodicarbonamide (pure and modified) and sodium bicarbonates, which present distinct decomposition kinetics, through incorporation in a torque rheometer and analyses of density, thermal characterization (TGA and DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), mechanical testing, and compliance with technical standards. The results indicated that azodicarbonamide produced smaller and more uniform cells, with higher cell density, which translated into improved morphological control and greater expansion efficiency, particularly for the blowing agents Planagem CS-4M (10.5% expansion at 1.0 phr and 7.8% in manufactured pipes) and Planagem B-8 (4.3% at 1.0 phr and 2.9% in pipes). Sodium bicarbonates, although the most environmentally attractive option, generated more heterogeneous cells and yielded very low or null expansion (AO-653 with 1.0% and AO-421 with negative values), evidencing processing instability. Thermal and rheological analyses showed that the type of blowing agent influences the PVC crosslinking time, with azodicarbonamide accelerating the reaction while bicarbonates retard it, without altering the molar mass or the polymer’s thermal transitions, as confirmed by the K-value and DSC measurements. Overall, the morphological, thermal, and regulatory assessments demonstrated that azodicarbonamide-based systems are more suitable for rationalizing PVC consumption, combining significant expansion, thermal stability, and technical compliance, whereas sodium bicarbonates exhibited relevant limitations under the evaluated conditions.Item type:Item, O improvável é sempre possível: o percurso de estudantes do curso de Pedagogia a distância em uma Universidade Federal(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-28) ;Borges, Thayná Luana ;Hayashi, Carlos Roberto Massao ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9136586124586219 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1481-5545https://lattes.cnpq.br/3803255211862231This research is configured as a field study addressing the persistence of enrolled students and graduates of the distance-learning Pedagogy licensure program offered by the Directorate of Open and Distance Education at the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys, from 2019 to 2025. In this context, the following research question was developed: which individual and institutional factors influenced the persistence of Pedagogy students at different centers of the institution? In order to answer this question, the study examined whether the distance Pedagogy program fulfills its role in offering and democratizing higher education in the territory under analysis and how student habitus and the accumulation of cultural and economic capital affected the academic choices of students from the popular classes. The thesis defended is that there is a dichotomy in distance education with regard to the access and persistence of students from the popular strata of society, which, in turn, is linked to the forms of expression of habitus and to the accumulation of cultural and economic capital by the social agents who entered the Pedagogy degree in this modality. It is argued that, although income restriction is an element that interferes with access to higher education, considering aspects such as commuting, acquisition of materials, and moving to another city, the possibility of this education being offered at a distance allows people from the popular classes in inland municipalities to access and remain in this educational modality. Thus, the trajectory of students from the Northern, Central, and Jequitinhonha Valley regions of Minas Gerais, linked to the centers of Capelinha, Cristália, Francisco Sá, and Papagaios, was examined. To do so, the concepts of habitus, field, cultural capital, and economic capital as formulated by the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu were employed. In addition, the study drew on Vincent Tinto’s model of motivation and persistence and on the method of data triangulation, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses, through documentary analysis of regulations, minutes of the Governing Council, records of meetings of the Structuring Teaching Nucleus, and institutional secondary data (socioeconomic entrance questionnaires—number of enrolled students, graduates, and dropouts) produced by the Permanent Selection Process Committee and by the Directorate of Academic Records and Control. Subsequently, online semi-structured interviews were conducted with the students in the program, totaling 12 participants, whose data were treated from the perspective of sociological portraits, a concept proposed within Lahire’s Textual Analysis. It was found that this educational modality enables the acquisition of cultural capital, considering that, in this process of scientific study, a student habitus is being constituted, whether through socialization in internships, virtual interaction, debates in web conferences with professors, or supervision in the final course project. At the same time that it allows access, its dynamics restrict the forms of cultural capital, since the embodied form and the interaction between the agents’ dispositions and the structures of the field are reduced. Thus, the need to increase face-to-face practices at the centers is emphasized, as well as the need for other actions to be developed in the formation of the social/university agent; moreover, despite the dominated condition of the agents under examination, motivation and persistence proved to be guiding factors for student persistence, as well as for institutional actions.Item type:Item, Exploring multiphasic multi principal element alloys: an approach using experimental and computational tools(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-29) ;Assis, Flávio Fávaro de ;Oliveira, Pedro Henrique Fernandes ;Coury, Francisco Gil ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8609825406277730https://lattes.cnpq.br/0934185000093479High entropy alloys (HEAs) are a class of metals that do not have a single principal element in their composition. Initially great effort was made to search for single phase HEAs but with the development of more recent frameworks, great interest emerged around multiphasic microstructures. In this study, two different routes aim to search phase stability and structural properties involving multiphasic HEAs. The first study investigates phase stability of the Cr51.5Co15Ni33.5 duplex HEA. This alloy was designed using CALPHAD simulations to achieve a dual-phase microstructure of Face-Centered Cubic (FCC) and Body-Centered Cubic (BCC) phases, while suppressing the formation of the detrimental sigma phase. The HEA was characterized using SEM, TEM, XRD and synchrotron diffraction. Experimental results confirmed the presence of the FCC and BCC phases, although the formation of the sigma phase was also observed, consistent with TSAI´s criteria and warranting further analysis of the CALPHAD predictions. The second Chapter shows a combination of simulation techniques and experimental analysis to estimate interfacial energies of a HEA based on Ni superalloys. The composition of the HEA was designed by high throughput calculations to have thermal stability at high temperature and a microstructure composed of FCC matrix and L12 Ni3Al-type precipitates. The main simulation technique employed was Density Functional Theory – DFT trough the code Quantum Espresso using the supercell method. The results obtained were compared to experimental analysis of synchrotron x-ray diffraction data and precipitation simulations showing that the combination of techniques can lead to reasonable values of interfacial energy. That combination of methods serves as a starting point to develop reliable methodologies for estimating interfacial energies for metallic alloys, which is important since that energies between FCC and L12 in superalloys and HEAs are difficult to measure experimentally and play a key role in phase stability and final properties of the material.Item type:Item, Narrativas conectadas: uma etnografia virtual sobre os brasileiros deportados dos Estados Unidos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-29) ;Zoppi, Maria Luisa Leiva ;Machado, Igor José de Renó ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4705450652848752 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7811-2641https://lattes.cnpq.br/4955636702503502Between wars, political and climate crises, tragedies and acts of violence, there are immigrant families seeking opportunities in other countries. Globalization has facilitated the mobility, allowing many people to pursue the place they perceive as best to live. However, countries such as the United States, which is the destination for many Brazilians who dream of living abroad, are becoming increasingly strict with their migration and deportation policies. This work analyzes precisely these experiences lived by Brazilian immigrants in the United States in the year 2025 who face the risk of deportation. The research was conducted from the perspective of virtual ethnography, focusing on content produced and shared on the TikTok platform. The objective is to investigate how individuals cope with deportation, presenting their own narratives and experiences, as well as forms of belonging and stigmatization in the digital environment. The study was conducted using a qualitative virtual ethnographic approach to analyze videos, comments, and interactions of Brazilian migrant profiles on the platform.Item type:Item, Efeito do nanomaterial de óxido de grafeno (GO) de interesse da indústria petrolífera: in vitro e in vivo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-30) ;Albuquerque, Yulli Roxenne ;Anibal, Fernanda de Freitas ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4918261968772806 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7896826463889321https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8501-4695Graphene oxide (GO) is a two-dimensional nanomaterial derived from graphite, functionalized with oxygen-containing groups that confer hydrophilic properties and surface reactivity, enabling a wide range of industrial applications. However, expanding its use requires a better understanding of its biological effects and potential health risks. This study aimed to evaluate the nanotoxicity of GO developed for enhanced oil recovery, considering its physicochemical properties and biological responses in experimental models. GO was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, and scanning electron microscopy. The results confirmed the presence of characteristic oxygen-containing functional groups and demonstrated dispersion medium-dependent behavior, with greater colloidal stability in ultrapure water than in saline solution (0.9%) or DMEM, and mean equivalent circular diameters of 11.37 μm in water and 11.78 μm in DMEM. In vitro, HepG2 cells exposed to GO (100-500 μg/mL) showed a transient increase in mitochondrial metabolic activity, suggesting adaptive cellular responses. In vivo, BALB/c mice were exposed via intraperitoneal administration at doses ranging from 5 to 50 mg/kg. Transient reductions in food and water intake and body weight were observed, accompanied by changes in the leukocyte profile. These changes included increased neutrophils and decreased total leukocytes, mononuclear cells, and eosinophils in peritoneal cavity lavage, as well as elevated neutrophil counts in bronchoalveolar lavage. Among the cytokines evaluated (IL-6, IFN-γ, and TNF), only IL-6 showed a significant reduction in peritoneal cavity lavage. An increase in relative liver weight associated with GO accumulation, elevated serum aspartate aminotransferase levels, and histopathological alterations in the liver, spleen, and lungs characterized by inflammatory infiltrates were also observed. These findings suggest that GO may induce mild local inflammatory responses and dose-dependent hepatic accumulation, highlighting the importance of further studies with prolonged exposure to assess potential adverse effects over time and to investigate the reversibility of the observed biological responses.Item type:Item, O corpo da professora pedagoga na relação com as crianças pequenas: do chão da creche aos documentos oficiais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-30) ;Machado, Monize Laís Fernandes ;Lombardi, Lucia Maria Salgado dos Santos ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5697508831302188 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6978-864Xhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/2941790773941991This research aims to understand the body of the pedagogical teacher in relation to young children in the nursery, with the research question being "How do teacher's body affect young children and the educational processes with them?". To seek answers, the study reflected on aspects of the teacher's body integrated into the educational environment and the play of and with children, and carried out an analysis of the presence or absence of the body in official documents, namely: LDB Law No. 9,394 of 12/20/1996, General National Curriculum Guidelines for Basic Education of 2013, National Curriculum Guidelines for Early Childhood Education of 2010, National Curriculum Guidelines for the Undergraduate Course in Pedagogy of 2006 and the National Common Curriculum Base of 2017. The research adopts a qualitative approach, bibliographical nature, constituting a State of Knowledge review, documentary, focusing on the analysis of normative/legal documents, and with an (auto)biographical perspective. It dialogues with interdisciplinary studies of the body, especially with the Corpomedia theory, seeking to produce situated and implicated understandings about the complexity of teacher's body in the daycare center and its relationships with young children. The results pointed out to the importance of teacher's body in pedagogical practices and to the need to value the bodies of teachers and young children, understanding that the conception of body reverberates in pedagogical proposals and in the planning of educational time and space. The literature studied reveals a gap in body awareness training, still lacking greater space in teacher training curricula. Among the legal documents analyzed, the document governing the degree in Pedagogy indirectly provided guidance on work described as practical. In the documents governing work in daycare centers, it was possible to observe how work with child's body is guided, however, there is little mention and few direct guidelines for who will propose the guidelines: the teacher.Item type:Item, Entre telas e lacunas: competências digitais entre os alunos da Educação de Jovens e Adultos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-01-30) ;Silva, Natália da Rocha da ;Kerbauy, Maria Teresa Miceli ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4762029784021248 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0622-1512https://lattes.cnpq.br/7702854893608191This study investigates the development of digital competencies among students enrolled in Youth and Adult Education (Educação de Jovens e Adultos – EJA), focusing on individuals who did not complete elementary education during their regular school trajectory. The research is grounded in the understanding that the intensification of digitalization in contemporary society has increased the demand for competencies related to the use of Information and Communication Digital Technologies (ICDTs), thereby deepening inequalities historically associated with low levels of schooling and socioeconomic vulnerability. This is an applied field study with a descriptive design and a quantitative approach, conducted through a data survey. A total of 110 printed questionnaires with closed ended questions were administered to students from two public municipal schools located in the cities of Araraquara and São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil. The analysis is informed by the Science, Technology and Society (STS) field, articulating the concepts of digital competence, digital exclusion, and Youth and Adult Education. The findings indicate that although internet access is widespread among participants, the development of digital competencies remains limited and uneven. The results highlight the centrality of smartphones as the main device used to access the internet, as well as the predominance of practices related to social media use and video consumption. In contrast, there is limited use of digital tools associated with information production, organization, work-related activities, and citizenship. Significant difficulties in the digital learning process were also identified, linked to both structural and educational factors, such as low educational attainment, limited income, lack of formative mediation, insecurity in dealing with technological changes, and fear of making mistakes or falling victim to digital fraud. Despite these barriers, most participants expressed a strong interest in learning more about digital technologies, indicating that digital exclusion in this context is not the result of a lack of motivation, but rather of insufficient access to continuous and contextualized learning opportunities. It is concluded that digital exclusion goes beyond the issue of access, encompassing limitations in the autonomous, critical, and meaningful use of digital technologies. The findings reinforce the need for integrated public policies that take into account the specificities of Youth and Adult Education, combining access, training, pedagogical mediation, and material conditions in order to promote socially situated digital inclusion.
