listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A pedra angular da teoria da libido de Freud: masoquismo e sadismo entre os anos de 1905 a 1919(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-03-26) Rodrigues, Helena Zoneti; Soria, Ana Carolina Soliva; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2903416522364971; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7762-3981; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5977944831685723; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5318-7855; Soria, Ana Carolina Soliva; Bocchi, Josiane Cristina; Filla, Munique Gaio; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2903416522364971; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9529234724656394; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1337863356487950This dissertation investigated Freud's conception of sadism and masochism between 1905 and 1919, first questioning whether such formations constitute particular pathological expressions or structural dimensions of human sexuality. The research examined the conceptual genealogy of the sadism-masochism pair, from its formulation in Richard von Krafft-Ebing's "Psychopathia Sexualis" (1886) to its reformulation by Freud in "Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality" (1905). It demonstrated how Freud shifted sadism and masochism from the psychiatric field to conceive them as structural components of instinctual life. Perversion ceased to be understood solely as a pathological deviation and came to designate constitutive modalities of infantile sexuality and psychic organization. Sadism and masochism thus emerge as privileged expressions of the articulation between aggression, pleasure, pain, activity, and passivity, anticipating economic issues later developed in "Beyond the Pleasure Principle" (1920). The dissertation also analyzed Freud's additions to the "Three Essays" (1905) and the essays "Instincts and Their Vicissitudes" (1915) and "A Child Is Being Beaten" (1919). It was observed that, by incorporating concepts such as ambivalence, sadistic-anal organization, guilt, and the Oedipus complex, Freud broadens the metapsychological status of these formations. Masochism, therefore, ceases to be conceived merely as a derivation of sadism and comes to occupy a structural position in the constitution of subjectivity and moral consciousness. It can be concluded that sadism and masochism have become fundamental conceptual operators in Freudian drive theory, demonstrating that perversion is not external to normality, but a constitutive component of human experience.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise inversa para identificação de parâmetros do modelo de drucker-prager em compacto verde de alumina(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-03-26) Bonizio, Igor Mandatti; Sciuti, Vinicius Fiocco; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0230261917656691; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3709-3189; Canto, Rodrigo Bresciani; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1316268411830615; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9286-9912; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3201964841216342; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0417-5564; Rovere, Carlos Alberto Della; Ferreira, Ayrton Ribeiro; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8141224513975606; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4243580890826764; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1534-0561; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0398-3682Powder pressing followed by sintering is widely used in industry. In low-confinement stages, such as die ejection, handling, and green machining, the mechanical behavior of the green compact can be described by an elastoplastic constitutive model based on the Drucker-Prager (DP) yield criterion, incorporating isotropic hardening. This study investigated the identifiability of the linear DP model parameters with Voce hardening law, which include the elastic modulus (E), internal friction angle (β), yield stress (σy), saturation stress (σ∞), and hardening parameter (b), using cyclic Brazilian test data on alumina green compacts, adopting an associative plastic flow hypothesis (ψ = β). The Finite Element Model Updating (FEMU) technique was employed in two stages: a numerical sensitivity analysis based on synthetic data and a force-based experimental application (FEMU-F) using experimental data of three Brazilian tests available in the literature. The numerical analysis demonstrated that global force data enables the identification of E and β with high sensitivity but are unable to uniquely constrain the hardening parameters due to a critical coupling between σy, σ∞, and b, creating a valley of indistinguishable solutions. The incorporation of displacement fields in the combined approach (FEMU-UF) proved capable of mitigating this ill-conditioning, numerically validating the cyclic Brazilian test as a viable setup for elastoplastic characterization. In the experimental application, E and β were identified with a variability of less than 4%, while σy exhibited a variability of 38%, experimentally confirming the coupling predicted by the Hessian eigenvalue decomposition. Despite this parametric instability, a generalized model using average parameters reproduced the force-time curves with less than a 7% deviation compared to the individual fits. In conclusion, the model reproduces faithfully the mechanical response of the Brazilian test. Nevertheless, its global predictive capacity remains limited to the specific test conditions and the adopted hypothesis of associative flow.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Entre províncias de significado e territórios do negacionismo: cartografias invisíveis das políticas ambiental e indigenista no governo Bolsonaro (2019-2022)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-03-26) Barros, Tríssia Maria Fortunato Paes de; Marzochi, Samira Feldman; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6466778428443375; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4212-0778; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7460709442244221; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9521-6960; Cepêda, Vera Alves; Martins, Rodrigo Constante; Reis, Rossana Rocha; Rotondaro, Tatiana Gomes; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4917331423373631; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6617183095074852; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9078150438543564; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8967954875891336; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1419-0090; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2700-3319; https://orcid.org/0009-0001-5933-8677; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0208-0732This doctoral thesis investigates how the contemporary Brazilian far right, between 2019 and 2022, produced and consolidated an intersubjectively shared universe of meaning that conferred social plausibility upon the dismantling of environmental policy and the erosion of Indigenous rights. Although such processes are not unprecedented in the country’s history, the analysis focuses on the ways in which they were rearticulated and intensified during the Bolsonaro administration. Grounded in Alfred Schutz’s social phenomenology, the study starts from the assumption that social reality is constituted within the life-world through typifications, systems of relevance, and reciprocal expectations that orient action and delimit the horizons of the possible and the legitimate. The central hypothesis argues that the environmental and Indigenous policies implemented during the period under analysis cannot be reduced to circumstantial administrative or legislative choices; rather, they participated in the consolidation of a finite province of meaning within which environmental depletion and the suppression of Indigenous rights gradually came to be naturalized and collectively legitimized as socially acceptable practices. This interpretation is empirically supported by a qualitative examination of normative acts, administrative reforms, official speeches, and documents produced by socio-environmental and Indigenous organizations. By articulating these elements, the study seeks to understand narratives that deny the environmental crisis and Indigenous rights as a specific mode of ordering social experience, materialized in invisible cartographies that silence, hierarchize, and delimit territories of belonging and exclusion. In this sense, the title of the thesis refers to the constitution of territories of denialism, understood as social spaces of taken-for-grantedness in which criteria of plausibility and patterns of legitimation are stabilized, orienting practices, discourses, and public policies within the contemporary Brazilian far right.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A sustentabilidade nas reportagens da revista Pesquisa FAPESP: uma análise textual discursiva(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-03-26) Stahl, Aylon Matheus; Lupetti, Karina Omuro; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5198051111079064; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0146141624567461; Casatti, Denise; Fernandes, Hylio Laganá; Gomes, Caroindes Julia Corrêa; Silva, Cleberson Souza da; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5151837943172277; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1315602045624096; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3858289473837461; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6871329401472677This thesis investigates how the concept of sustainability is constructed within scientific journalism and to what extent this construction aligns with the scientific concept discussed within the academic community. The study focuses on journalistic reports produced by three journalists from Revista Pesquisa Fapesp, analysed through Discursive Textual Analysis, as well as interviews conducted with these authors. The results indicate that, in the scientific journalism analysed, sustainability is predominantly associated with technology, understood as a means of increasing efficiency in the use of natural resources and as a central solution to environmental problems. This construction is strongly linked to the economic sphere, as the financial viability of technologies emerges as a relevant criterion for their legitimation as sustainable. Such a conception shows convergence with the scientific understanding disseminated by international organisations, particularly with regard to the less burdensome use of resources, while also revealing the circulation of a hegemonic view of the concept, reproduced by scientists frequently mobilised as sources. A largely unproblematised trust in science was also observed, marked by the absence of methodological discussion and by the transformation of estimates into expectations, which limits the potential for critical reflection among non-specialists. The interviews indicate that, although the journalists share elements of the scientific concept of sustainability, they also express criticism of its reduction to economic logic and the marginalisation of the social dimension. Finally, a shift was identified from a future oriented understanding of sustainability to one focused on present demands, aligned with the prevailing economic model. It is concluded that scientific journalism tends to present sustainability as a predominantly environmental and technological issue, pointing to the need to broaden the debate through practices that incorporate other actors and perspectives in the construction of this concept.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Regulação da inteligência artificial: desafios e perspectivas para uma sociedade em mutação(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-03-26) Mahle, Ana Cristina Oliveira; Martinez, Vinício Carrilho; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7916014556126573; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0593-0544; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9433724244059583; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4399-272X; Souza, Tainá Reis de; Gracioso, Luciana de Souza; Scherch, Vinícius Alves; Camargo, Márcia Fernanda de; Schiavi, Marcela Taiane; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3601577908568788; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4898201916360294; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1721329870636878; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1580286525806275; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5591696083420228; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6320-4946; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6320-4946; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8266-9888; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3671-3822The research addresses the challenges and prospects of regulating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a constantly changing society. Situated within the field of Science, Technology and Society (STS), it begins with a reflection on data protection and informational self-determination, advancing to explore the ethical and social implications of AI in light of the absence of a specific regulatory framework in Brazil. The study seeks to understand how bills currently under discussion, such as Bill No. 2338/2023, may shape the future regulation of AI, promoting a risk-based approach that considers social vulnerabilities and fundamental rights. The choice of the term mutation in the title reflects the unpredictability and complex impacts of AI, which, like a genetic mutation, can bring both progress and challenges. The research examines how AI is already integrated into social, political, and economic spheres, not only through process automation, but also through systems capable of learning, predicting, and making decisions. This integration brings benefits such as efficiency and innovation, yet also poses structural risks, including the depersonalization of labor relations and the weakening of social protections. Through a qualitative and comparative analysis, the study examines the proposals for AI regulation, such as Bills No. 21/2020 and 2338/2023, comparing them with international models, particularly the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act. The conclusion highlights the urgency of developing an adaptive and responsive regulatory framework, capable of keeping pace with technological advances while preserving human centrality in automated decision-making. Thus, this research contributes to the STS field by proposing ethical and regulatory guidelines that aim to balance innovation, social responsibility, and the protection of fundamental rights.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A sistemática filogenética e o tree thinking na formação de professores: uma análise dos projetos pedagógicos dos cursos de licenciatura em ciências biológicas da UFSCar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-03-26) Silva, Matheus da; Sebastiani, Renata; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9773755519907716; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4565-6137; Sales, Nilva Lúcia Lombardi; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6092092558776882; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8235-2741; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9838657381855453; https://orcid.org/0009-0005-1395-0085; Calzolari Neto, Anselmo João; Galego, Luis Gustavo da Conceição; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4906309581958797; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9101105344317706; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6703-9079This dissertation investigates how the curricula of pre-service Biology teacher education programs (Licenciatura) at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), Brazil, articulate the curricular status of phylogenetic systematics and tree thinking in initial teacher education. The empirical materials consist of the Course Curricular Projects (Projetos Pedagógicos de Curso, PPCs), treated as curriculum documents that frame and organize curricular knowledge. This qualitative documentary study compares seven PPC versions from the Araras, São Carlos, and Sorocaba campuses, including Araras (2007), São Carlos (2015, 2025), Sorocaba full-time (2010, 2023), and Sorocaba evening (2008, 2022). The corpus was analyzed through Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA), articulating unitarization, categorization, and the production of an interpretive metatext, with the reading guided by four analytical categories: formative rationalities in teacher education, mechanisms of theory–practice integration, the curricular status of phylogeny, and epistemological and pedagogical coherence. The findings indicate that phylogeny appears with variable intensity as a recognized scientific language and content within the core disciplinary subjects, especially in syllabi and bibliographies, and that recent reforms, particularly in Sorocaba, institutionalize foundational systematics as mandatory components of the curriculum. At the same time, curricular prescription does not transform phylogenetic systematics, treated primarily as content, into phylogenetic literacy or into tree-thinking operations, since tree thinking remains absent from the intended graduate profile and expected competencies and is not articulated in longitudinal teaching-practice components or in the teaching practicum. In PPCs that explicitly state evolution as an integrating axis, there is likewise no indication of tree thinking as an organizing principle for biological content and biological reasoning. This dissertation argues that phylogeny as content and phylogenetic literacy as a teaching competence correspond to distinct regimes of curricular prescription. The former is sustained by disciplinary presence and distribution, whereas the latter depends on decisions regarding compulsory status, timing and sequencing, and curricular textual specification that make possible the acquisition of tree-thinking operations throughout the program. Finally, the study proposes directions for curricular redesign aimed at institutionalizing these operations as organizing principles for Biology teaching.
