The increasing complexity of manufacturing environments has encouraged the adoption of Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) systems to support Production Planning and Control. Despite the relevance of these solutions, their implementation remains underexplored in the literature, especially regarding the critical success factors and barriers that may influence their outcomes. Thus, this study aimed to identify and analyze these elements in capital goods manufacturers. A qualitative approach was adopted, combining a systematic literature review with a multiple-case study conducted in three companies that had implemented APS systems. The review enabled the systematization of 28 critical success factors and 34 barriers associated with the implementation of systems and approaches supporting Production Planning and Control. The findings guided the empirical stage, in which they were compared with evidence obtained through semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and direct observation. The results indicated that APS implementation is a gradual sociotechnical process whose consolidation requires the alignment of organizational, human, process, information, and technology dimensions. System acquisition and go-live do not ensure its effective use, which depends on incorporating production scheduling into organizational routines, continuously improving data and integrations, adapting users to the system, and sustaining it over time. The barriers proved to be interdependent and reflected misalignments between the conditions anticipated in the project, the realities of production, and the organization’s capacity to adapt. The benefits perceived by users included more structured production scheduling, clearer priorities, and closer alignment between planning and execution. As a contribution, this study organizes theoretical and empirical knowledge on APS system implementation and provides, as a technological product, an application for assessing organizational readiness and maturity, identifying weaknesses, and supporting the preparation, execution, and sustainment of APS implementation projects.

This study analyzes the alternative developed by the municipal government of Sorocaba to address the housing needs of families specifically the Programa Lotes Sociais (PLS), implemented by the Department of Housing and Land Regularization (SEHAB). The PLS entails the transfer of ownership—via a conditional donation—of lots up to 125 m² to beneficiaries of the Auxílio Moradia program (municipal rent subsidy) or to families living in Areas of Special Social Interest (AEIS) where regularization was previously blocked. This process involves reclassifying public institutional land for residential use, subject to a technical feasibility study and legislative authorization. The study involved interviews with well-informed public officials responsible for designing, managing, and implementing the Social Lots proposal. Research findings indicate that the PLS expands housing options and helps reduce vulnerability. However, access to land does not immediately guarantee housing security, as the program's effectiveness depends on the responsibility for constructing the home a task requiring financial capacity, a reasonable level of technical know-how, and a stable income.

Inspired by the idea that historically silenced subjects need to narrate their own stories, this dissertation understands narrative as a political, formative, and epistemological act in response to school and media traditions that have historically erased Black voices and experiences. The research was guided by the following question: how can audiovisual production, grounded in the principles of educommunication and guided by an anti-racist and decolonial perspective, express the youth protagonism of high school students? The general objective was to analyze audiovisual production as an expression of youth protagonism among high school students, based on the Nossas Narrativas project, developed in a public state school in the interior of São Paulo, Brazil. The project involved the production of podcast episodes and audiovisual materials addressing memory, identity, representation, epistemicide, and youth protagonism. Methodologically, this is a qualitative study, configured as a single embedded case study and articulated with a quantitative-descriptive diagnostic stage. The investigative process involved the analysis of a diagnostic questionnaire applied by the Student Council to 282 students, the constitution of the participant group, an educommunication and racial literacy workshop, production meetings, podcast recordings, field diary, focus groups, individual interviews, document analysis, and systematization of the Educational Product. The final production group consisted of six students. Data analysis was conducted based on Content Analysis, in dialogue with the Baobab of Concepts, a theoretical-analytical matrix constructed to articulate coloniality of knowledge, epistemicide, critical racial literacy, educommunication, audiovisual production, youth protagonism, and empowerment. The analytical triangulation, guided by five theoretical propositions and by the methodological procedures of the case study, resulted in differentiated verdicts: three propositions were supported with qualification, one was supported with methodological reservation, and one was partially supported. The data indicate that audiovisual production, when guided by anti-racist pedagogical intentionality, enabled participants to name erasures, formulate questions, interview Black reference figures, control narrative devices, and publicly circulate their productions. Three central analytical axes were identified: narrative sovereignty, Black intellectuality on scene, and supportive horizontality. The individual interviews indicated subjective and formative shifts in the participant subgroup, especially in the way they recognized Black references, interpreted the school, and understood their own position in the production of narratives. However, the study design does not allow for longitudinal monitoring of the permanence of these shifts nor for statistical generalizations to non-comparable contexts. As a practical contribution, the Educational Product Nossas Narrativas was developed, consisting of a digital repository and an educommunication and podcasting guide aimed at Basic Education teachers. The study argues that anti-racist education is not consolidated through isolated actions, since it requires continuity, collective elaboration and openness to silences and to different rhythms of participation.

Fluorinated compounds are highly relevant in contemporary chemistry due to the unique properties imparted by fluorine and are widely employed in the development of molecules of pharmaceutical and agrochemical interest. In this context, the introduction of fluoroalkyl groups represents an important strategy for modulating the properties of organic molecules. Although numerous methodologies have been developed, many still require harsh reaction conditions, transition metals, or reagents that are difficult to handle. In light of these challenges, visible-light photocatalysis has emerged as an efficient and sustainable approach for the controlled generation of radical species under mild conditions. This thesis therefore focuses on the development of metal-free photocatalytic methodologies for the incorporation of fluoroalkyl groups into organic substrates, with the aim of functionalizing molecules with potential bioactivity. In this context, Chapter 1 describes the development of a protocol for the difluoroacetylation and difluoroacetamidation of peptides containing the amino acid tryptophan. The methodology showed good compatibility with di- to heptapeptide sequences, enabling the synthesis of 21 products in yields of up to 73%. Mechanistic studies were also conducted, providing insights into the nature of the species involved and the proposed mechanism of these transformations. Chapter 2 focuses on the difluoroacetylation of vinyl-C-glycosides, a class of sugar-derived olefins, for the synthesis of glycoamino acids and difluoroalkylated neoglycopeptides. The approach enabled the synthesis of 24 products in yields of up to 81%, demonstrating compatibility even with unprotected sugar derivatives. Mechanistic studies were also conducted to investigate the steps involved in the process. Finally, Chapter 3 describes the development of a domino synthetic strategy for the preparation of a new class of perfluoroalkyl- and difluoroalkylsubstituted 2-pyrazolin-5-ones. The methodology exhibited broad functional group tolerance, enabling the investigation of an extensive substrate scope comprising 44 examples, with isolated yields ranging from 17 to 90%, and was successfully translated to a continuous-flow photochemical system. Complementary mechanistic studies provided further insights into the transformation and supported the proposed reaction mechanism. Overall, the strategies developed in this thesis expand the possibilities for the synthesis of fluorinated compounds through efficient, mild, and sustainable photocatalytic methodologies.

In the Portuguese language, more specifically in Brazilian Portuguese, items such as só (“only”), somente (“only”), exceto (“except”), among others of this nature, can be classified in formal semantics as “exclusives.” There are no solid analyses in the formal semantics and pragmatics literature that examine these items in Brazilian Portuguese from this perspective. In light of this, the present study investigates exclusive items in Brazilian Portuguese through two theories of exclusives, which we will refer to as Coppock and Beaver’s (2013) “Maximum and Minimum Theory” and Wiegand’s (2018) “Morphosemantic Theory,” with the aim of proposing a minimal typology for these items and structures in Brazilian Portuguese. Both theories focus on exclusives in English, particularly the particles just and only: the former argues that exclusives contain a presuppositional component (minimum) and a quantificational component (maximum), while the latter argues that exclusives operate directly on sets of alternatives ranked by the speaker. We propose that Portuguese exclusives also fit within the theoretical frameworks presented and can initially be classified into two distinct groups: Focus Exclusives and Negation Exclusives. The former aim to delimit and/or exclude elements from a larger set to which they belong (as in só and apenas in sentences such as “Eu só/apenas falo português” — “I only speak Portuguese”); the latter focus on the contrast between two sets, necessarily involving the negation of one set in relation to the other (as in exceto in sentences such as “Todos vieram me ver, exceto João” — “Everyone came to see me, except João”).There are also cases in which certain exclusives behave differently from the proposals by Coppock and Beaver (2013) and Wiegand (2018), referred to by Beltrama (2021) as Emphatic Exclusives (EE). These operate by delimiting and/or negating alternatives within their scope (in English, the item just, and in Brazilian Portuguese, simplesmente), as in the sentence: “Este filme é simplesmente maravilhoso” — “This movie is simply wonderful.” In this case, for the speaker, there would be no other adjectives that could be inserted as alternatives to maravilhoso (“wonderful”).

The conventional extensive livestock farming model generates significant environmental impacts, reinforcing the need for sustainable alternatives such as Silvopastoral Systems (SPS). This study evaluated the silvicultural response, biomass accumulation, and morphological composition of mulberry (Morus nigra L.), gliricidia (Gliricidia sepium (Jacq.) Walp), and tithonia (Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsl.) A. Gray) subjected to North/South (N/S) and East/West (E/W) planting orientations. The experiment was conducted at UFSCar, Araras-SP, using a completely randomized design with six replicates per treatment. Height, stem diameter, and canopy diameter were evaluated at 10, 20, and 30 days of growth, in addition to green mass production (GMP), dry mass (DM), dry matter content (DM%), and the leaf-to-stem ratio at 30 days of regrowth. Evaluations were performed every 10 days over a 12-month period, from March 2024 to February 2025. Data were analyzed using the SAS PROC MIXED procedure. There was no triple interaction (cycle/time/planting orientation) for the morphometric variables (P ≥ 0.058). In general, the E-W orientation favored initial vegetative vigor, increasing height and canopy diameter for mulberry, stem diameter for gliricidia, and both stem and canopy diameters for tithonia. For mulberry, the E-W arrangement increased fresh biomass yield (333 vs. 184 kg ha¹ cycle¹) and dry biomass yield (86.7 vs. 51.9 kg ha¹ cycle¹), while reducing dry matter content. For gliricidia and tithonia, the orientation did not alter biomass production or dry matter content. Morphological partitioning was also unaffected, maintaining mean leaf proportions of 706, 811, and 688 g kg¹ for mulberry, gliricidia, and tithonia, respectively. Peak biomass production occurred between October and January/February, coinciding with the period of greatest water and thermal availability. It is concluded that the E-W orientation favors initial development and can increase biomass productivity, particularly for mulberry. However, forage accumulation is strongly influenced by climatic seasonality, indicating that cutting or grazing management should be flexible and guided by morphological indicators, such as canopy height

The Green's function $G$ is one of the single most powerful resources to solve Partial Differential Equations, specially those of Electromagnetism, Acoustics, Hydrodynamics and Particle Physics, among others. Although most of its applications occur in Physics, this function is an important mathematical tool, and in many cases it can be studied exclusively with methods in Geometry and Complex Analysis. In this master's dissertation we present a method to reliably and accurately obtain the Green's function $G$ for any flat rhombic torus $T$, as well as the necessary mathematical theory of elliptic functions to understand said method, in a computationally efficient manner, always with numerical values of significant digits up to the fourth decimal place (noting that $G$ is unique for $|T|=1$ and $\int_TGdA=0$). This precision is guaranteed by the strategies we adopt, which include theorems such as the Legendre Relation, properties of the Weierstra\ss\, P-Function, the algorithmic control of numerical errors as well as our methodology which forgoes the use of infinite series in favor of symmetric elliptic functions. Our code uses complex integration routines developed by H. Karcher, who also introduced the symmetric P-Weierstra\ss\,function, and these resources simplify the computation of elliptic functions considerably. At the end we present a section detailing how to adapt our methodology for finding $G$ without using the restriction $|T|=1$, as well as explaining how to use our code to compute $G$ and check its accuracy.

The rapid process of population aging in Brazil has increased the necessity of strengthening the care networks directed to the elderly population. In this context, the present study objectified a comparative analysis of the territorial distribution of the services of Primary Health Care (APS), of Basic Social Protection (PSB) and of Intersectoral Services destined to the elderly person in the five Brazilian regions, considering the years 2022 and 2024. The dissertation was elaborated through a qualitative bibliographic review about the challenges of APS in the care to the elderly person and of a descriptive quantitative study based on data originating from the DGeroBrasil project. Furthermore, complementary information from the National Registry of Health Establishments (CNES), SUAS Census and other official public databases were utilized. The bibliographic review identified challenges related to the essential attributes of APS, highlighting the high turnover of professionals, weaknesses in the articulation of the service network and difficulties of access to the assistance. As demonstrated in the analysis of the services, in the year 2022, 31,514 services of APS, 15,994 of PSB and 4,281 Intersectoral Services were identified. The proportional analysis demonstrated the existence of regional inequalities, with greater population coverage of services in the South region and greater proportions of services per municipality in the North region. Between 2022 and 2024, an increase of 5,749 units was observed in APS, totaling 37,263 services, while PSB registered an increase of 491 units, reaching 16,485 services. In counterpoint, the reduction of 875 Health Posts and of 203 teams of the Family Health Strategy was verified. In the Intersectoral Services, an increase of the registries of Municipal Councils of the Elderly Person was observed, from 821 to 4,027. However, the unavailability of standardized data for part of the intersectoral devices in 2024 limited the temporal comparison and the complete analysis of this component. It is concluded that, despite the amplification of the offer of services directed to the elderly population between 2022 and 2024, important territorial inequalities persist in the distribution of the resources of health, social assistance and intersectoral protection. The results of the study reinforce the importance of planning, of monitoring and of the strengthening of the care networks, as well as of the qualification of information systems, aiming to promote greater equity in the care to the Brazilian elderly population.

In recent years, complex networks have been widely used to model systems with objects of interest, called vertices, which interact with each other by a haracteristic or relationship, represented by an edge. Through the various uses of complex networks, community detection has a great importance in the field, aiming to group vertices into the same cluster based on a given similarity between them. Thus, several models have been proposed to perform the clustering, assuming the number of communities is known previously, but this assumption is not always acceptable in real-world data. Therefore, in this work, we address the case of an unknown number of communities, that is a model selection problem, where a study has been conducted to compare selection methods for the Stochastic Block Model, including proposed methods based on normalized maximum likelihood and computationally approximated

This study presents an analysis and description of insubordinate conditional-concessive constructions introduced by nem que in Brazilian Portuguese (BP). In accordance with Evans’s (2007) proposal, constructions are considered insubordinate when they are conventionally used as main clauses, even if at first glance they appear to be formally subordinate. For this research, grounded in the assumptions of Construction Grammar (Goldberg, 1995; 2006; Traugott and Trousdale, 2013), the general objective is to describe and analyze the formal and functional configurations of insubordinate conditional-concessive constructions in BP, with a focus on their degrees of independence and semantic specialization. As for the hypotheses, it is assumed that insubordinate constructions with nem que, within the domain of insubordinate conditional-concessive constructions, exhibit specific formal and functional patterns that distinguish them from spontaneous constructions and, despite vestiges of compositionality that set them apart from formulaic constructions, diverge from the prototypical semantic nuances of conditionality and concessiveness, acquiring more opaque textual-discursive meanings. To test these hypotheses, the corpus comprises instances of insubordinate conditional-concessive constructions drawn from the Corpus do Português/NOW (Davies and Ferreira, 2007). Methodologically, qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis are combined, with a particular focus on the qualitative treatment of the data for testing the hypotheses, with the aim of contrasting the findings with previous research, particularly on Spanish (Martínez Caro; Alba-Juez, 2021; Elvíra Garcia, 2016; Royo-Viñuales, Van Linden, 2022), French (Royo-Viñuales, Van Praet, Degand, 2022), and Portuguese (Hirata-Vale, 2015; Lira and Hirata-Vale, 2025). The results corroborate the hypotheses formulated and demonstrate that insubordinate constructions with nem que exclusively use inflected verb forms in the subjunctive mood, in the present, past, or future tenses, semantically associated with non-concrete, potential, or counterfactual situations and events that cognitively activate the broader conditional domain, despite the partial retention of the parameters of conditionality proposed by Dancygier (1998). Furthermore, a statistically significant association is observed among the pragmatic function, semantic frame, and verb tense of these constructions, which highlights their symbolic pairing in terms of Construction Grammar (Goldberg, 1995). Finally, a syntactic-semantic-pragmatic continuum is proposed, based on the continuum of insubordination proposed by Hirata-Vale (2015), in which the three identified microconstructions function pragmatically as addenda, refutations, or replies and are distributed gradually, ranging from more compositional uses dependent on the immediate discursive context to highly conventionalized uses endowed with procedural values (Traugott and Dasher, 2002), such as “nem que a vaca tussa!”. Finally, it becomes evident that the (inter)subjective nature of these constructions is related to their scalar strength and to the expression of negative emotions, such as irony, which emerge gradually and in proportion to the degree of conventionalization of each microconstruction.

Telehealth, or digital health practice, gained relevance during the COVID-19 pandemic, expanding the use of remote strategies for the care of vulnerable populations. In this context, this thesis verified the functioning and contextual factors associated with the activities and participation at home of infants and children born with biological risk in the first two years of life, through remote assessment and monitoring. Thus, five studies were conducted that produced evidence with remote methodologies developed during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Study I aimed to compare gross motor skills and the presence of opportunities in the home environment, as well as to verify the impact of these opportunities at home on the motor skills of infants with biological risk before and after 6 months of age. It was found that the group over 6 months had more toys compared to the younger group, and a greater variety of stimulation and having more gross motor toys were associated with better gross motor skills outcomes. Study II identified facilitators and barriers to home participation for infants with and without biological risk during the first year of life. Environmental factors, such as greater caregiver willingness to change, younger mothers with higher levels of education, and a facilitating home environment, contributed to greater participation in the group of infants with biological risk. In relation to the group without risk, factors such as younger mothers with higher levels of education and less willingness to change, a facilitating home environment, and higher family income promoted greater home participation. Based on these results, and with the aim of expanding knowledge about participation and its intervening factors in the home setting beyond the first year of life, Study III was conceived and developed. Its objective was to describe the e-Followkids protocol for the remote monitoring of functioning and contextual predictive factors in children at 12, 18, and 24 months who were born with biological risk. Study IV evaluated the feasibility of this protocol (e-FollowKids) in Brazil and its association with sociodemographic factors (family income, education, maternal age, and number of siblings). A recruitment rate of 56.86%, adherence of 79.31%, and sample loss of 20.68% were achieved. Mothers reported high satisfaction, good understanding, and acceptability of the protocol, with a low percentage of identified barriers (19.5%) to follow-up. There was no association between feasibility according to mothers' perception and sociodemographic factors. Finally, Study V compared the home participation of infants and children with and without biological risk at 12, 18, and 24 months, verifying the trajectory of participation and associations with environmental 12 factors and functional abilities in the group with biological risk. Children with risk showed higher frequency at 12 months, while those without risk showed greater involvement at 18 months; at 24 months there was no difference between the groups. In the at-risk group, engagement increased at 24 months, and in the non-at-risk group, frequency and engagement were higher at 18 and 24 months compared to 12 months. Greater mobility and environmental support were associated with greater engagement at 12 months. At 24 months, higher scores in functional skills such as daily living and social/cognitive activities, as well as environmental support, were associated with greater participation, while lower scores for the general home environment and less mobility were associated with a greater desire for change on the part of the caregiver. Home environmental factors at 12 months did not predict participation at 24 months. The results obtained in this thesis can begin to support evidence-based practice, through remote methodologies, in the area of child development. Furthermore, it fosters the relationship between health components and contextual factors, based on the principles of dynamic and multidirectional interactions in infants and children in the first 2 years of life. Thus, it favors the promotion of actions and/or programs in public policies in child health, for monitoring functioning in this crucial developmental phase, considering the caregiver as a modulating agent of the environment and remote methodologies as a means of intervention.

Agricultural technologies play an important role in improving farm performance. Precision agriculture technologies (PATs) aim to enhance input-use efficiency, whereas climate-smart agriculture (CSA) encompasses a set of technologies and management practices designed to increase resilience and reduce climate-related risks to agricultural productivity. Stochastic production frontier (SPF) models have been widely used to evaluate the relationship between technology adoption and farm performance using observed farm-level data rather than experimental or simulated settings. However, SPF literature still lacks both comprehensive synthesis and empirical evidence on how agricultural technologies - particularly emerging digital and CSA technologies - are associated with farm performance through distinct efficiency pathways. In addition, there remains a need for updated farm-level evidence, particularly in Brazil, one of the world's leading agricultural producers, where information on the adoption and impacts of these technologies remains limited. This thesis addresses these gaps by investigating how and to which extent agricultural technologies and management practices are associated with the technical efficiency (TE) and climate resilience of soybean production in São Paulo State, Brazil. Specifically, the thesis pursues three complementary aims: (i) to synthesize the existing evidence on the pathways through which agricultural interventions are associated with farm performance; (ii) to assess the association between PATs adoption and farm-level TE; and (iii) to evaluate whether CSA technologies and practices are associated with TE and resilience under adverse weather conditions. The empirical analyses are based on primary farm-level data collected from 152 soybean farms in São Paulo State, Brazil, during the 2023/2024 season. The first empirical analysis applies the SPF model with heteroscedasticity in inefficiency term to evaluate the association between adopting an integrated bundle of PATs (soil maps, variable-rate fertilizer application, yield monitors, and agricultural management software) and TE of soybean farms. In the second analysis, the latent class SPF model was employed to assess the yield sensitivity of soybean production systems to climate shocks under different levels of CSA adoption, given the climatic conditions of the 2023/2024 growing season, which was marked by above‑average temperatures and below‑average rainfall. The empirical results indicate that adopting PATs as an integrated bundle is associated with considerably higher TE than adopting the technologies in isolation, highlighting the importance of complementarities among digital technologies. Similarly, farms characterized by higher levels of CSA adoption exhibited greater TE and lower sensitivity to climatic shocks than low-intensity adopters. Together, the systematic literature review and the empirical analyses contribute to a better understanding of how agricultural technologies and management practices are associated with farm performance. The findings of the thesis provide novel and robust empirical evidence on the relationships among PATs, CSA technologies, technical efficiency, and climate resilience. Overall, the findings highlight the potential of those technologies to support more productive, resilient, and sustainable soybean production systems under increasing climate variability.

Population aging increases the need to discuss care models that combine autonomy, safety, quality of life, and economic sustainability. In this context, the concept of Ageing in place emphasizes the possibility of aging in the usual living environment while preserving social ties, identity, and participation, provided that adequate housing conditions, support networks, and access to services are available. This study aimed to understand the social and economic implications of the Ageing in place model based on scientific literature and documentary evidence, in comparison with institutional care provided by Long-Term Care Institutions for Older Adults (ILPIs). A scoping review was conducted, complemented by a descriptive analysis of a home adaptation budget and estimates of the costs associated with institutional care. The review included 13 studies, which were analyzed using methodological procedures compatible with their respective designs. The findings indicated that Ageing in place may contribute to the preservation of autonomy, identity, sense of belonging, social participation, and continuity of family and community relationships. However, its implementation depends on environmental, functional, and socioeconomic conditions, as well as on the availability of support networks and services. The analyzed budget estimated an initial investment of BRL 22,542.00 for home adaptations. For ILPIs, reference costs updated to August 2026 resulted in an estimated monthly cost ranging from BRL 4,804.58 to BRL 7,138.24 per older adult. The comparison showed that these amounts have different economic characteristics and do not allow a conclusion regarding overall economic superiority between the models. It is concluded that Ageing in place represents a care option that requires adequate support, while ILPIs remain an important component of the long-term care network. The findings reinforce the need for integrated strategies involving housing, health, social assistance, accessibility, and support for informal caregivers.

This work presents a systematic investigation into the performance and robustness of deep learning architectures applied to Facial Expression Recognition (FER) in real-world scenarios. The central motivation lies in the importance of emotion recognition as a fundamental component of human-computer interaction, with applications ranging from telehealth to social robotics, focusing on performance in real-world scenarios. The main objective is to analyze the impact of the domain shift phenomenon on the transition from controlled laboratory data to dynamic real-world environments, as well as to mitigate the effects of occlusions and class imbalance. To this end, a comparative evaluation of spatial feature extraction models was conducted, including the ResNet50V2, EfficientNetB0, and ConvNeXt Tiny networks, as well as a temporal hybrid model composed of a ConvNeXt architecture integrated with an LSTM recurrent network equipped with attention mechanisms. Spatial modeling experiments revealed the superiority of the ConvNeXt Tiny model pre-trained with large datasets, which achieved an overall accuracy of 87.16% on the RAF-DB dataset, highlighting the crucial role of the statistical normalization step and sequential pre-training. In contrast, cross-validation tests revealed a drastic 53% drop in model performance when exposed to domain transfer between RAF-DB and CK+ (with accuracy declining to 34.05%), highlighting the conceptual fragility in the face of variations in poses and occlusions. In temporal experiments with the CK+ dataset, the hybrid architecture demonstrated high performance under strict subject-independent validation, reaching 95.14% overall accuracy when tracking facial muscle dynamics to the peak of expression. Additionally, ablation studies focused on class imbalance indicated that simple weighting methods in the loss function (Class Weights) outperformed synthetic interpolation strategies in latent space (SMOTE) and pixel space (MixUp), preventing overfitting and preserving subtle facial distortions. It is concluded that, although modern deep architectures exhibit high hierarchical representation capabilities, practical generalization is still severely limited by domain shift, highlighting the future relevance of domain adaptation and explainability techniques.

This dissertation investigates the theoretical intersections between Lacanian psychoanalysis and political thought through the structural homology established by Jacques Lacan between the function of object a as surplus-enjoyment (plus-de-jouir) and the Marxian category of surplus-value (Mehrwert). Setting out from the theoretical and socio-political effervescence of the 1960s, indelibly marked by the events of May 68 in France, this study examines how Lacan’s teaching was impelled to clarify its conceptual coordinates in face of Marxism, a period in which Marx assumes a pressing presence in Lacanian theory. The central objective of this research is to apprehend the reasons motivating this singular "return to Marx" and to analyze the internal articulation engendered with the critique of Marxian political economy during the gestation period of the so-called theory of discourses. Investigating the position of the Lacanian object as structurally homologous to surplus-value, the study adopts the Monzanian gesture of philosophical reading as a methodological framework linked to the tradition of the Philosophy of Psychoanalysis, aiming to reconstruct Lacan’s conceptual movement while grasping the theoretical and political impasses at stake. To this end, the dissertation is organized into three chapters: first, it reconstructs the historical and institutional frictions, convergences, and shifts between Marxisms and psychoanalyses, locating Lacan’s singular and ambiguous stance toward the student movement and the revolutionary tradition; second, it undertakes a mapping of the category of the object within the Lacanian framework, tracing its evolution from an imaginary object and support of fantasy to its emergence as cause of desire, irreducible remainder of the signifier structure, and drive object; finally, it reconstructs the homology with surplus-value based on Seminar XVI, explicating its implications for the psychoanalytic reading of social bonds and the political dimension. It demonstrates how the function of surplus-enjoyment, by condensing the paradigm of a constitutive loss that engenders an excess of enjoyment, reorganizes the drive economy, repositions the status of truth within the failure of knowledge, and provides conceptual grounding for the Lacanian critique of science, capitalism, and the political sphere. By addressing this problem within Lacan's own teaching, this research aims to contribute to the debate surrounding the social function of psychoanalysis in order to reposition the possible forms of relation between psychoanalysis and the political.

Introduction: Training volume is a major variable manipulated in resistance training (RT) prescription, but it remains unclear whether substantial increases in weekly volume promote greater strength gains in previously resistance-trained individuals. Moreover, volume dose–response studies have predominantly assessed voluntary strength, and whether different magnitudes of volume progression elicit distinct adaptations directly at the muscle-fiber level remains unknown. Objective: To compare the effects of individualized 20% (VOL20) and 120% (VOL120) increases in habitual weekly RT volume on maximal dynamic strength, the contractile properties of isolated muscle fibers, and muscle fiber cross-sectional area (fCSA) in previously resistance-trained individuals. Methods: Eighteen resistance-trained participants (11 men and 7 women), aged 18 - 35 years, were included in a randomized, unilateral, within-subject design. Each lower limb was allocated to VOL20 or VOL120. The intervention lasted eight weeks and consisted of two weekly sessions of unilateral 45° leg press and knee extension performed to concentric failure within a 9-12 repetition-maximum range. Maximal dynamic strength was assessed using the one-repetition maximum (1RM) test. Vastus lateralis biopsies were obtained before and after the intervention to determine maximal isometric force of isolated Ca²⁺-activated muscle fibers (P₀), force normalized to fiber diameter (P₀/D), specific force (P₀/fCSA), and histologically determined fCSA. Primary outcomes were analyzed using linear mixed models, with the protocol × time interaction as the effect of interest. Comparisons between percentage changes in 1RM and muscle-fiber contractile properties, as well as analyses stratified by fiber type, were performed exploratorily. Results: Weekly set volume during the intervention was 18.23 ± 3.18 sets in VOL20 and 33.47 ± 5.82 sets in VOL120. 1RM increased in both the 45° leg press and knee extension (both p < 0.001), with no protocol × time interactions (p = 0.888 and p = 0.330, respectively). P₀ and P₀/D also increased over time (both p < 0.001), without protocol × time interactions (p = 0.448 and p = 0.096, respectively). P₀/fCSA increased over time (p = 0.010), also without a protocol × time interaction (p = 0.114). No significant changes in histological fCSA were observed. In the exploratory analyses, voluntary strength gains did not consistently exceed the adaptations observed directly in isolated muscle fibers. Conclusion: Eight weeks of RT concurrently increased maximal dynamic strength and the intrinsic force-generating capacity of isolated muscle fibers in previously resistance-trained individuals. Despite the large contrast between the individualized volume progressions, the 120% increase did not provide evidence of superior adaptations compared with the 20% increase. These findings further demonstrate that functional adaptations at the muscle-fiber level can occur in resistance-trained individuals without detectable increases in histological fCSA.

Antimicrobial resistance has been recognized as one of the greatest contemporary challenges to global public health, constituting a complex problem involving clinical, epidemiological, social, and educational factors. The inappropriate and indiscriminate use of antimicrobials significantly contributes to the emergence and dissemination of resistant microorganisms, compromising the effectiveness of treatments and increasing infection-related morbidity and mortality. As part of multiprofessional healthcare, nursing technicians play a central role in medication administration and, consequently, in the implementation of infection prevention and control practices. Therefore, this study aimed to understand the perceptions of Nursing Technician students regarding antimicrobial management and antimicrobial resistance in the hospital setting, relating this knowledge to their educational and training experiences. This qualitative study collected data through focus groups, which enabled the exploration of participants’ perceptions, knowledge, and experiences regarding the investigated topic. The sessions were conducted in three virtual meetings through the Microsoft Teams® platform, with groups of four to five students, and were recorded. Subsequently, the sessions were transcribed in full and subjected to thematic content analysis. This process allowed the identification of the following analytical categories: Nursing Technician students’ understanding of bacterial resistance; Practices related to antibiotic use; Barriers to the rational use of antimicrobials; and Strategies for preventing microbial resistance. The results showed that the students recognized the importance of appropriate antimicrobial use and associated the incorrect use of these medications with increased bacterial resistance and difficulties in treating infections. The participants demonstrated an understanding of healthcare professionals’ responsibility for the safe administration of medications and the prevention of adverse events related to antimicrobial therapy. Conceptual gaps were identified regarding the biological mechanisms involved in the development of antimicrobial resistance and institutional strategies aimed at preventing and controlling this problem, such as antimicrobial stewardship programs and patient safety protocols. Educational and training experiences, particularly those related to practical activities and supervised clinical placements, proved relevant to the development of students’ knowledge on the topic, contributing to a broader understanding of the complexity of antimicrobial use and the impacts of antimicrobial resistance on healthcare delivery. It is concluded that the students recognize the importance of the topic and preventive practices, although their knowledge is predominantly practical and operational. The findings highlight the need for pedagogical strategies that more effectively integrate theory and practice, moving beyond purely operational aspects. Qualifying this technical training is strategic to mitigating antimicrobial resistance and improving the quality of healthcare

This research aimed to analyze how members of a team at a federal public university perceive communication practices associated with the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in their work context. This is an exploratory field study conducted through mixed methods using a convergent research design. To this end, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the PRISMA protocol, with the purpose of identifying and analyzing scientific evidence on NVC in organizational contexts, thereby supporting the development of the theoretical framework, the elaboration of a conceptual map of NVC in the public organizational context, and the definition of the analytical categories and data collection instruments. In the empirical stage, the quantitative phase involved the application of a structured questionnaire, whose data were subjected to descriptive and correlational statistical analysis using IBM SPSS software. In the qualitative phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted and analyzed using content analysis. The results revealed predominantly positive perceptions regarding organizational climate, collaboration, conflict resolution, and peer support. The integration of quantitative and qualitative data indicated a positive association between the perception of empathic listening and constructive conflict resolution, as well as perceived relationships between leadership and organizational climate, collaboration and work process improvement, compassion, support, and a sense of belonging. However, challenges were also identified regarding participation in decision-making processes, interdepartmental communication, dialogue, institutional recognition, and the lower occurrence of these practices in hierarchical relationships. Participants expressed interest in NVC training initiatives. The findings suggest that communication practices aligned with NVC principles may contribute to strengthening interpersonal relationships, collaboration, and the quality of interactions in public organizations. However, the consolidation of these practices depends not only on the development of individual competencies, but also on favorable institutional conditions, leaders who are open to listening and participation, and the creation of permanent spaces for dialogue.
