Item type:Item, CertFix: solução para rotação automática de certificados mTLS para autenticação de microsserviços(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-10-27) ;Cardoso, Guilherme Silva ;Lucrédio, Daniel ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/9090396559596221 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1360-4036http://lattes.cnpq.br/9032041229633794The adoption of microservices expands the attack surface and makes the protection of inter-service communication critical, for which mTLS (Mutual TLS) is one of the most robust mechanisms, as it provides mutual authentication and confidentiality. Its adoption, however, is hindered by certificate lifecycle management, for which manual processes are not scalable and are susceptible to failures, operational errors, and delays. This work developed and empirically evaluated CertFix, an automated mTLS certificate lifecycle management solution with an internal certification authority and a per-host embedded agent that exposes the rotation strategy as an explicit configuration element. The design separates two axes that are often conflated in practice: the algorithm, which orders certificate issuance and revocation operations, and the trigger, either scheduled or driven by a security event. The evaluation followed a controlled Latin square experiment replicated three times, with assignments made by service, over a real mesh of ten microservices under a load of 15 requests per second. The three campaigns totaled 4.4 hours of execution, 212,204 requests, 252 certificate rotations, and 27 fault injections, including the failure of the certification authority, which affected all configurations at the same instant. The gradual strategy sustained rotation without ever leaving the service without a valid credential: measured at the certification authority, coverage was continuous, with an exactly zero invalidity window in all 14 cells attributable to the strategy itself, out of the 18 in the design. The maintenance-window strategy failed in all 18 of its cells, event triggering in all 16 of its cells, and the manual procedure in 9 cells. The denominators differ because the cell whose gap was opened by the preceding strategy, in the discarded transition, is excluded from the strategy that inherited it. Under fault injection, measured against paired control windows without faults, the gap for the gradual strategy remained zero across the three scenarios, and it was the only strategy that retained rotations rather than completing them when the service was terminated, whereas neither of the two window-based strategies did so. The difference between the two orderings, however, is invisible in the metric that would naturally be used to evaluate them: rotation success rate assigned 100 % to all four strategies, 238 out of 238 rotations verified by serial-number matching, both to the strategy that never left the service uncovered and to those that did so in every measured cell. Thus, the central contribution is the empirical observation that the benefit of automation stems from the ordering between issuance and revocation, rather than from automation itself. It is a decision that established tools leave implicit, that conventional rotation metrics fail to reveal, and that the evaluated manual script, which follows the same order as the maintenance window, did not avoid either.Item type:Item, A construção do olhar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-10-29) ;Frare, Vitoria Makiyama ;Santos, Valter Fausto dos ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/9536458664875589http://lattes.cnpq.br/6969612555832249This work presents a critical-reflective narrative of my undergraduate medical education at the Federal University of São Carlos. By revisiting personal, academic, and professional experiences throughout six years of training, I reflect on changes in my understanding of medicine, care, and my own professional identity. The narrative follows different stages of this journey, from choosing medicine and entering university during the pandemic to experiences in patient care, research, and extracurricular activities. The main experiences revisited include personal growth in the face of family circumstances, recognition of the influence of socioeconomic conditions on the health-disease process, the development of bonds with patients, encounters with death and the limits of medical practice, and experiences of leadership and personal development through participation in the student athletic association. These experiences helped me understand that medical education extends beyond the acquisition of technical knowledge and also involves communication, relationships, responsibility, teamwork, recognition of my own vulnerability, and an understanding of patients within their social and family contexts. At the end of undergraduate training, I remain aware that medical knowledge is always unfinished and that becoming a physician is an ongoing process. Rather than achieving an ideal professional image, this journey points to a desire to practice person-centered medicine committed to dignified care, the production of knowledge, and the preservation of the human essence of the profession.Item type:Item, Análise crítico-reflexiva de seis anos em um curso de graduação único, desafiador e compensador(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-10-29) ;Benedini, Victor Daciole ;Santos, Valter Fausto dos ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/9536458664875589https://lattes.cnpq.br/8739110544559917This study presents a critical-reflective narrative of the medical training journey of a student from the sixteenth cohort of the Medicine program at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), spanning the period prior to university admission through the final year of undergraduate education. The narrative is organized chronologically according to the years of the medical program, highlighting the main challenges experienced during this period, particularly anxiety and structural limitations of the curriculum, including the lack of adequate practice settings in certain learning environments. It also explores the strengths of the program, notably the quality of its teaching staff and the diverse learning opportunities offered in each stage of training, especially during the final three years. The reflection suggests that the strengths of the program substantially outweigh its limitations and emphasizes the importance of a strong support network during medical education.Item type:Item, Eficácia e segurança das intervenções terapêuticas para síndrome dolorosa miofascial em adultos: revisão de revisões sistemáticas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-10-29) ;Barros, Ian Carlos de ;Santos, Valter Fausto dos ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/9536458664875589 ;http://lattes.cnpq.br/6350739393719759https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0978-381XVariation in diagnostic criteria and treatments for myofascial pain syndrome complicates the comparison of evidence and its application to clinical practice. Objective: To synthesize the efficacy and safety of therapeutic interventions for adults with myofascial pain syndrome or symptomatic active trigger points. Methods: An overview of systematic reviews was conducted, with searches in PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and Epistemonikos in September 2026. Methodological quality was assessed using AMSTAR 2. The descriptive synthesis considered population, intervention, comparator, outcome, and follow-up, accounting for overlap among primary studies. Selection, data extraction, and appraisal were assisted by generative models, with author review and approval within a “human-in-the-loop” framework. Published certainty ratings were used; no new GRADE assessment or meta-analysis was performed. Results: A total of 231 reviews were included: 150 contributed 317 clinical findings, 61 provided contextual information, and no usable findings were located in the extracted data for 20. Methodological confidence was critically low in 221 and indeterminate in 10. For neck pain, lidocaine provided greater pain relief than dry needling across pooled assessments at two to four weeks (mean difference −2.13 points on a scale from 0 to 10; 95% CI −3.22 to −1.03), with low-certainty evidence and no clear advantage for disability or other outcomes. One trial of low-level laser therapy showed a benefit for pain at treatment completion, without demonstrated persistence at six months. For temporomandibular myofascial pain, one trial favored dry needling over botulinum toxin for pain during chewing at six weeks, without a clear benefit for pain at rest or mouth opening. Adverse events were incompletely reported. Conclusion: The findings suggest pain relief in specific comparisons but do not establish an overall treatment ranking. Methodological limitations, imprecision, and study overlap restrict confidence in the conclusions. Clinical application requires consideration of diagnosis, comparator, functional goals, and duration of benefit, alongside uncertainty about safety.Item type:Item, Produção de mudas cítricas e perspectivas para citricultura brasileira(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-12-01) ;Oliveira, Mateus Borges de ;Conceição, Patrícia Marluci da ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6623193710607120https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9966-3191The citrus industry is one of the main activities of Brazilian agribusiness, playing an essential role in generating income, employment, and foreign exchange for the country. This study aimed to analyze the technical and legal aspects involved in the production of citrus nursery plants, as well as to discuss the perspectives and challenges of the Brazilian citrus sector, in order to inform production practices that ensure phytosanitary quality and sector sustainability. Through an integrative literature review, information was gathered from scientific publications, legislation, and technical reports issued by institutions such as MAPA, Embrapa, and Fundecitrus. It was observed that the mandatory use of screened nurseries for citrus seedling production initially established in the state of São Paulo and later extended Nationwide represented a milestone in the modernization of the sector, reducing the spread of diseases such as Citrus Variegated Chlorosis (CVC) and huanglongbing (HLB). The importance of using certified mother plants, implementing sanitary indexing, and applying improved grafting techniques and protected-environment management was also verified. The adoption of rootstocks such as citrandarins and Swingle citrumelo has contributed to greater disease resistance and better adaptation to different edaphoclimatic conditions. Furthermore, the expansion of citrus cultivation into new regions such as Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Bahia, and Paraná reflects not only the search for areas with lower HLB incidence but also economic and structural factors that influence the productive reorganization of the sector. It is concluded that the integration of technology, legislation, and sustainable management is fundamental to ensuring seedling health, competitiveness, and the long-term sustainability of the Brazilian citrus industry.Item type:Item, Análise genética de vacas em relação à sua idade no último parto através de modelos de sobrevivência(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2026-12-03) ;Afonso, Eduarda Godoy ;Caetano, Sabrina Luzia ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2340330162391128 ;Zuanetti, Daiane Aparecidahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/8352484284929824In Brazil, the study of bovine longevity is extremely important due to the country’s position in the export and production of this sector and, for this reason, there is a strong interest in achieving maximum profitability in this activity. The economic longevity of cows is totally related to reproductive performance, with the trait known as the age of the cow at last calving (ACLC) being a very important variable in this context. Since this variable cannot always be perfectly measured in some scenarios, a censoring criterion is generally applied to this characteristic, which is based on the difference between the date of the cow’s last observed calving and the date of the last calving on the farm. If this difference is greater than or equal to 36 months, the cow failed, as she has gone too long without calving and will be discarded. Otherwise, the cow is still considered reproductive and her age at last calving is censored, since there is still a possibility of her having another pregnancy. Therefore, one of the objectives of this study is to genetically analyze the IVUP variable using frailty models applied to survival analysis. The use of this type of model is justified by the inclusion of random effects, allowing the prediction of genetic factors associated with each animal and also considering associations between them. Another objective of the study is to identify genetic variables that influence bovine longevity, and this will be done through a Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS). The analysis is done using a sample of 862 cows, daughters of 47 different bulls. For confidentiality reasons, the origin of the data is kept secret.
