Resumo
The aim of this Course Conclusion Work is to demonstrate how in Los Ríos Profundos, by José María Arguedas, music develops throughout the work. Through music, “huyanos”, Ernesto, the protagonist, will understand the Inca world and, with that, the culture of the indigenous peoples of the region. Orality and music are the natural elements during the work, present in rivers, mountains, insects and winds. Ernesto's journey to get to know the Andean culture and, thus, to understand himself belonging to it, goes through the interaction of the indigenous people of the mountainous region of Peru. The construction of an indigenous identity for Ernesto during the work, without denying the influence of Spanish colonization, works on two distinct cultures (Inca and Western / Christian) and thus creates a harmonious society. Arguedas will demonstrate a possible way out of the dialogue between these two cultures, without the repression and the imposition of a certain Peruvian socioeconomic layer on another.
