Resumo
When a child is born it is in the family context that all the firsts references take place. Is
where the child will learn and develop his primary social, intellectual and communication
skills. Therefore, the family plays a significant social and affective role in this individual's
life. The importance of the family for the care and development of a child is unquestionable,
as it is in this environment that their first interaction with the world and the education of their
social identity begins. A deaf child with hearing parents will be placed in a culture and
language that they do not have access to, so the family will have to accept this child and learn
about their culture and language so that this individual can develop socially, psychologically
and emotionally. The present study aims to identify the researches produced about deaf
relatives and sign language, in the portal of CAPES, Scielo and Google Scholar Journals in
the last ten years, (2011 - 2021). At the end of the survey, were founded an amount of 21
articles that put in discussion hearing family members with deaf children and sign language.
Despite being a low researched topic, studies indicate that early diagnosis with good guidance
and professional follow-up with family members it reduces the sense of guilt, thoughts and
ignorance about the deaf individual and their culture, being a family network with the
necessary guidance and support to respect the language and subjectivity of the deaf
individual, improving the affective and family ties that are so important for the full
development of the deaf child.
