Nanotechnology has enhanced in many fields of knowledge in the last decades, being materials engineering the basis for implementing nanostructures and upgrading of a long list of physicochemical properties of materials. Modern medicine has been adapted on the treatment of several diseases of the 21st century with studies of the Cannabis sativa pharmacology that led to the discovery of cannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system in mammals, bringing back ancestral medicines with the modern concepts applying and exploring practices that used to be explained just mystically and that are now explained scientifically. Nanostructured systems developed for drug delivery systems of cannabinoids (e.g., micelles, nanoparticles, liposomes, and dendrimers) unify the knowledges of older and nowadays societies through the drug carriers applied into cannabinoids (nano-CBD) produced by specific techniques of manufacturing (emulsification, ionic gelication and miniemulsion polymerizations) using biocompatible materials (e.g. PEG, PLA, PAA, HPMC, CS, silicates and CD). Considering it, the present text offers a basement review of technical and scientifical literature about most relevant methods to produce nanostructured systems to drug delivery of cannabinoids.
