The song "Delação premiada" ("Plea bargain"), composed and performed by MC Carol in 2016, with musical production by Leo Justi, is the object of study of this article. Based on an examination of its lyrics in connection with its musical characteristics, we sought to demonstrate how a certain experience of the historical context of the mid-2010s formalizes itself in the song. Through the analyses, we could identify that the song makes a critical reading of the episodes of Brazilian politics that involved the plea bargaining mechanism, understanding them as a kind of spectacle produced by the media that, in turn, concealed many cases in which the police acted with extreme violence against the population of the periphery.
