Abstract
The object of study of this research is the drummer Rubens Barsotti (Rubinho), founder of the group Zimbo Trio. The focus of the research is pointed to the music genre called samba-jazz, bringing to light the views of many academic authors on that subject and also of musicians that were involved in that music scene. Interviews were conducted with drummers Giba Favery, Lauro Lellis and Pércio Sappia, former students of Rubens Barsotti, revealing details of their studies with him and pointing to songs from Zimbo Trio to discuss his musicianship on the drumset.
