Abstract

The Final Coursework presented to the Department of Medicine at the Federal University of São Carlos is a reflective monograph describing the student's experience within the course. Sports practice, aside from being extremely beneficial for both mental and physical health, permeates the entire trajectory of the author of this text within the university. Therefore, this is a reflection based on the author's personal experiences as well as on scientific evidence found in the literature regarding the benefits of sports practice for medical students, and also on the significance of Academic Athletic Associations as promoters of university sports.
